disabling Administrator controls for Exchange policy - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi guys!
I have a question....right now i have my work exchange account setup on my phone. The administrator policy requires that i set a 8 digit passcode in order to get into my phone everytime i need to use is. this is EXTREMELY annoying. Is there anyway to "hack" or get around it so i dont need to enter a passcode anymore, but the exchange server still see's the policy on my phone? Just curious. Thanks!

You dont mention what version you running on your phone (GB or ICS), but there are options for this. Here is one someone modded the Email to make the backend think the policy is in place but the requirement for having a pin is removed. But this is for GB I believe.

Are you running the stock ICS? Or some custom ROM for ICS? Which version, you need to be a bit more specific.
There are ROMs already created that have these Email.apk's modified for bypassing the Exchange Policy, but some you have to do that rom, others you could pull the APK and put it into yours (if you are deodex'ed of course).
Like here is one that has it already removed.

sorry for not providing all info, im running Custom Rom, SkyICS 4.2E, and it is deodexed

Then you can pull the two Email APKs from the Romracer ZIP and push them onto your phone via ADB or Root Explorer or however you want, make sure permissions and ownership is set right, and that should take care of it.

Thanks a bunch. One last question (for now) Do you know what the permissions need to be setup as?

Permissions on any app/apk you dump into /System/App (which is where these two APKs for the email need to do) need to be set to RW-R--R-- and ownership has to be "root:root".

crud, the email apk is the stock email app Will this work with any of the google ICS email apks?

What you mean? If you replace the two email APKs it will bring the Samsung Native email app. If you want the Google (AOSP style) one then you will need to find a rom or say even a Galaxy SII based custom rom where someone has modified the APK to remove the exchange policy.
If you search you will probably also run across a thread (cant find it right now) where it actually shows you how to decompile and modify the APK itself to remove the policy, then recompile it.

Here you go, from CM9 20120614 nightly build, modified to disable exchange security: cm9-email-exchange-4.1-nosec.zip
Note: This is NOT CWM flashable, you'll need to extract the 2 apks from the zip and copy / push to system/app.

Did you push them or just try to install as a normal apk. Sounds like you tried to install normally but, I would think that since they are system apps they would need to be pushed via adb or copy and pasted w/ es file explorer or root explorer and set permissions. Of course there is also the possibility that they only work on jelly bean, but i can't say that for sure.

You can use apktool. For a more user friendly way try Apk manager. If you use apk manager throw the app in the "place here for signing" folder, fire up apk manager and choose option 16. I'm more than happy try it for you if you want, but i think it's always fun to learn.

Velvet.apk is the Google Now and Google Voice Search combined, doesn't work as it requires API Level 16, which only Jellybean has. So it won't work until a Jellybean ROM is ported or the apk is made backward compatible, which I will be forever grateful somebody does!
Do you guys see API16 available yet in the SDK?
I see the documentation on the site, but nothing thru the SDK Manager
http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-4.1.html
Edit2: had to update to Rev20 first.. now it's available.
Sux that velvet won't work. That's one app I was really hoping would just install easily. Hopefully since this isn't a massive update like ICS was, once source is dropped our awesome devs can get us a JB rom

Requesting S3 Alarm Clock APK

After rooting my S3, I got a little over zealous uninstalling all the bloatware. As such, I mistakenly deleted the alarm clock (ya know, the one that works with S Voice). Does anyone have the apk for the stock touchwiz alarm clock? The only downloads I can find are modded versions ported for other phones.
Thanks in advance.
You should be able to download a stock rom and search the zip. Normally they are located in the \system\app directory. Make sure you match permissions with other system apps.

Hi there, this is how i fixed my alarm problem
firstly download the clock apk relavent to your phone, i think that there are 3 different ones provided in this thread.
Secondly you need to download something from the play store called "Rom toolbox pro" its £3 but if you ask in the forums here someone can probably point you to a free one that does the same thing.
make sure your phone is rooted, install and run Rom toolbox pro. click on Root Browser, navigate to where you put the APK on your phone, copy and move it to root/system/app. Once you have moved the apk find it in the app folder, click and hold it for a couple of seconds. A menu should popup with options, click on "permissions" set them so they are like this. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2pphiyo&s=6 If you are using a different app you will need to set your permissions accordingly, yet again im sure there is someone on here clever enough to help with that.
Now just restart your phone, the APK will run on boot.
These are the exact steps i followed and they worked for me. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h353dl&s=6
I hope you have the same luck

[MOD] Windy Weather Live Wallpaper w/ No Watermark

I liked the Windy Weather live wallpaper that came with the GSIII, but I didn't like the ever so noticeable watermark that is on it. I've also seen requests for versions without the watermark so, I took it out back and beat it senseless until it was gone. See the screenshots below for a preview. (I will add more screenshots later)
READ BEFORE INSTALLING
- I recommend making a back-up of the original WeatherWall.apk at /system/app BEFORE installing this.
- This only removes the AccuWeather watermark. The name of your current city will still be visible.
- This live wallpaper was pulled from a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. Although it should, I have not tested if this will work on other versions of the Galaxy S III. I don't think it will work on other phones (because of screen size issues), but it may!
- You must have root in order to install this.
- Install at YOUR OWN risk. While highly unlikely, I take no responsibility if this damages your phone in any way.
Installation:
Manually:
1. Download the WeatherWall.apk provided and put it on your SD card
2. Open up your favorite file manager application on your phone that has system read and write capability. I prefer Root Explorer
3. Navigate to wherever you placed the downloaded .apk and move it to "system/app" overwriting the unmodified "WeatherWall.apk"
4. Restart your phone and enjoy!
NEW! Flashable: (Easier!)
1. Download the WindyWeather-NoWM.zip provided and put it on your SD card
2. Re/boot to recovery and flash the .zip file
3. Restart your phone and enjoy!
:good:
nice!

Hmmm... Also make sure when you're overwriting the old one that it sticks. You can do this by looking at the date last modified in your file manager. If it says anything but the current date and time then it did not overwrite it. If that's the case make sure your file manager has SU and root privileges and it is mounted in read and write mode. Once I get a flash working this should be much easier, but it does nothing but fail in TWRP when I try to flash the one I have put together.
ok thanks for working on it....but see thats the prob...there wasn't one there originally. maybe the rom i am on had it removed...but either way it should show up after moving it to that folder under live wallpapers right?
The key is to make sure that WeatherWall.apk is your /system/app directory. Normally you should be overwriting an old .apk. Like you said though maybe you're rom doesn't use it so may not work. As far as I know it 100% works with Touchwiz on ICS. Someone said it did work with an AOSP based rom, but I'm not sure if this was ICS or JB.

[APP][From Jelly Bean 4.2] Gmail from Android 4.2

Hi everyone,
Here is the Gmail.apk extracted from a Nexus 4 system dump and de-odexed. It will not work on non-rooted devices. As far as I know, it includes the swipe-to-delete/archive gestures.
Instructions:
Just paste the apk into /system/app, replacing your old Gmail apk or Gmail2.apk.
If the one already there is called Gmail.apk, rename it before pasting.
Set permissions to rw--r-r (644).
Hit the thanks button if you liked it and if it worked.

I have not tested that method but I assume if you copy the odex version(Going to release tonight) to your external drive(SD Card) then use root explorer to overwrite two existing files ( services.jar & services.dex ), reboot your device. You could have Native hotspot. On the other hand if you use this method and something break's you need to use the below method:
The more approve method would be to install a custom recovery(TWRP), FLash Stockish ROM, then Install Native HotSpot. FYI.... you will trip Knox 0x1 using this method

Well looks like odex version is giving me problems so for now only deoxed works.
Question for @MasterZen88
Did you do this mod for the services.jar yourself or is this someone else's work? The reason I ask is because I checked the smali code and discovered there's apx 80% of the original code stripped out. I assume this was necessary and if so then Samsung took extensive measures to put a lock down on the tethering. Can you explain any of this? Very curious. A PM is fine if you prefer. Thanks for offering this mod. Much appreciated.

@tx_dbs_tx Sorry for the late reply... Really I just changed one line of code.. Thinking alot of code got stripped out through the Deodex process.

Yes a LOT of stuff was stripped out comparing it to the stock services.jar. I was expecting one line change but was surprised to see so much stuff being removed. It still works and I haven't noticed any issues. Thanks for the reply.
So I have rooted my note 4 and installed TWRP, but still stock rom. I have done the gallaxy tolls and the hotspot is working, but no toggle. Will this add a toggle?
Nk2 update?
Is something i should rename? Or is it an entirely a new setup?
Anyone have new link for the hotspot download?
