I have a device that I need to send back to T-Mobile, but I can't get it back to factory settings. I'm really stuck , and need to turn it in within a couple hours. I tried restoring it with a backup, but every time I try, it says MD5 error. ( I've tried more than one backup file ). I was looking for a stock ROM, but the ones on multi upload are inaccessible. Anyone help?

I've had good luck fixing MD5 sum errors by just changing the name of the backup file to a single character.

Hello!
Some days ago, I've seen here that with ICS we can do a full backup without root, and the backup is saved on a computer. Yes, I know MyBackup and Titanium backup, but I want to try this.
So, I've tried this way, and it seem that all is fine... But 2 hours later from starting the process, my Sensation restarts... I've cheched the generated file size and it's 3'63GB.
The question is, has finished the backup correctly and, by some reason it restarts the phone, or the backup has failed?
Someone had this issue?
I don't want to trying flashing another ROM, and, when I will try to restore the data, ADB says me that the file is corrupt, or, directly, erase my data if I try now...
I've a free-operator Spanish Sensation, S-OFF and stock ICS ROM (3.32.401.1), but rooted.
Thanks for reading, even considering my English
Ok, I understand that anybody has this problem!
Hi
I recently installed a custom ROM (CM9) on my htc sensation and I backed up most things. Thing is when I backed up my SMS I did it through the stock HTC sms app and Im trying to restore it but no apps read the file
Any ideas on what to do?
would be greatly appreciated!

try this. if it doesnt work make a new backup, then reflash your old backup from your other rom. then use the app. then flash forward to your new one and then restore
this app only reads xml files. the one htc did was just a file without any extensions so it cant be read by this
but if this has something to do with flashing the old one could you please elaborate lol, im still new to this stuff
Assuming you still have a backup of your original ROM that your messages are stored in, give this a try.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handyandy.appextractor&feature=nav_result#?t=W10.
It should let you extract the SMS files from your backupROM.zip file and let you restore them to your current app. If all else fails you can manually go into the backupROM.zip file and pull the SMS database file out yourself. You can copy the .zip to your computer and just root through the .zip and pull out the part you want, copy it to your phone and BOOYA!
Try the free app first though.

OK if you still have your rom that has the the sms then you can flash it back again. Using the correct firmware of course. Then back up the SMS with the app in my post above. Then reflash your current rom again (the one that needs the SMS) then run the app again and choose restore
or, use the method above
Both should work

I know you've got your old ROM running fine now, but for future reference don't bother flashing the kernel for a backup. When you make a nandoid backup the kernel is included with it, so when you restore it the kernel is restored automatically.
Now in case you meant that you flashed firmware so you could go back to your old rom, then yeah...you may have to do that if you're switching between Gingerbread and ICS roms. But if you're switching between two ICS roms then odds are that your firmware is already 3.32 or 3.33 for both and you don't have to switch it.
I Rooted my phone and added a fresh ROM, for some reason the Gapps didn't install, so I downloaded a separate one and added it via recovery screen (holding down up, menu and power button) as instructed. However, now my phone won't work and when starts only says "Unfortunately, Setup wizard has stopped" once I clear this message, another pops up and says "Unfortunately, Google services framework has stopped" i click ok but the message just keeps appearing! my phone will NOT work, please someone help me, I tried re-rooting the way i did before using Odin, however, that didnt work, I can't seem to locate in the recovery menu where the faulty Gapps is located!
Any help is please welcomed, Also the phone is samsung note 2

What rom did you flash? You may have flashed gapps for the wrong android version. You need to make sure that you download the Gapps in the OP of the rom you want so you know you're getting the right one

Have you done a Nandroid backup? Do a recovery or download a stock RUU. Goodluck man
Sent from my HTC One X+
I did that with my tablet once, I just wiped and re-flashed and put GAPPs on correctly and it was fine.
Failed Flash
Download an app like root checker to make sure you are still rooted.
What kind of recovery are you using on your phone?
You should wipe the phone completely, system, cache and dalvic.
Try doing the factory reset, check for root and follow the instructions from the original thread.
As stated earlier, make sure you download the correct Gapps for the ROM you are installing.
Also, you need some type of file explorer, I use Root Explorer. You can use that to search for the Gapps.
If you downloaded it on the phone it may still be in your download folder if not look in \system\app folder.
Hi everyone, I managed to fix the Gapps problem, however, now I have a problem with EVERY rom i install, i have tried Slimbean and Crashrom but I can't seem to get the EFS to work, i backed up using efs pro and an efs backup tool but it wont restore, so I have no network coverage, so i end up having to keep going back to ****ty stock, I have ended up going back and forth 18 times!! people say about baseband, but i don't know how to change that...

Your baseband is the modem/radio the phone uses.
Here is a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044937
At the bottom are some flash-able modems you can try.
Hope this works for you
I've got back to stock-rom with my XT1068, and it took me a lot of time to configere my Phone and apps to my desired settings. After this I've made an backup using TWRP. I've choosen to let TWRP compress this backup to save some storage space, and it was completed without anny errors. So I guess the backup is valid...
Now I wanted to go back to my clean configuration. So I've wiped my Phone using also TWRP, and tried to restore the backup after this. But I'm stuck at this point unfortunately.
It fails somehow. It seems that I can restore all the selectable options, except the data part. When restarting the Phone, it starts a new configuration (like starting the Phone from scratch and for the first time). But without anny personal settings or installed apps. When I've trie to restore data after this, it still fails.
After trying a lot of diffrent things, I only once manged to get a restore from the backup, so I guess this backup is not corrupted.
Someone maybe knows how to solve this? Manny thanks in advance!
I updated my Oneplus One manually to the newest Version of CM12s. While flashing it, my Recovery (TWRP) chrashed. So to be sure I installed my freshly performed Nandroid Backup. But nothing helped. I couldnt connect with the Wifi, no SIM Cards were found, no Bluetooth Connectivity and it had Random Reboots. So i decided to flash back to Stock CM11s (the first ever released). But the Problems were the same afterwards. I flashed the Stock image via ADB and, after I found out nothing changed, via the Oneplus One Toolkit, but the Problems were still there. I also made a video on Youtube to show what happens and i hope that i can repair it and must not send it back to repair, because a repair would cost me up to 300€. So pls tell me a way to fix this Problem, because I really like this Phone:crying::crying::crying:

Ok found your vid, I see you have flashed the stock image files via ADB, have you done a full factory reset (wiping data) from the phone/TWRP? Its a bit worrying that flashing the stock image files didnt sort the issue. As it seems to be WiFi on/off that causes the reboot it would make me think it was to modem/radio but this should have been written again when you flashed the stock images.
@AxelWexel can you check in your Settings>About phone menu if your IMEI number is showing? Just in case your EFS has become corrupted. It definitely sounds fixable as if something has corrupted and needs wiped fresh.

Thx for the Links and i tried to watch on my phone and there is no imei number. I also did a full wipe after i found the issues. I also tried it via the Toolbox to flash the stock rom back but it hadnt change anything. But I will look the links you postet and reply if anything has changed. But now thx again:good:
P.S: I renamed the Video to "Oneplus One not working (23.06.2015)" to find it more easily
Edit 1: The Second Link with fixing corrupt partitions via adb wont work for me because i dont have root but my bootloader is unlocked. so i cant find the root acsess for adb in the developer options
Edit 2: I installed color os like the link said, done everything it said, but still no wifi, bluetooth and no sim card detection:crying:. Luckily the random reboot stopped Could you again help me further more because it seemed to help
Edit 3: I went back to cm11s, because in color os when i turned the phone off it turned on again, the connectivity was not there. After the install it became worse with the random reboots. I think i must send it to repair and pay 300€:crying::crying::crying::crying:
