[FIX] Youtube App Links - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello all!
First off, I need to thank jnichols959 for posting this solution. If you benefit from this, you should thank him too.
jnichols959 said:
I fixed the youtube link issue by rooting, using titanium backup to backup then remove HtcLinkifyDispatcher. After this I had trouble with links in the stock HTC browser so switched to Chrome and it handled app associations in the normal android way, allowing me to view youtube links in the app and do other things that were broken (like custom links like seesmic://... to authorize the Seesmic app on Twitter).

So, if that's enough for you, there you go.
However, I like using the stock Browser. So my proposed fix is to pull the Browser app from a Rogers ROM (where youtube links open the app as expected.) However, I'm using CleanROM, which is deodexed, and my Rogers ROM is obviously odexed. So, until I can figure out how to deodex that, I'm stuck. If I make any progress, I'll update this thread. And if anyone has any input, let's have it!
Or maybe we'll get an updated Rogers RUU to base ROMs off of, since this isn't an issue on Rogers, along with a couple other small things.
I just want to reiterate, do NOT thank me for anything. If you want to thank someone, head here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26605595#post26605595 and thank jnichols959

Something is big and wrong here. My google account is gone, and when you go to add an account, there is no google. Essentially I cannot use this. Seems some things got fixed, and some things got broken. Sadly, big things got broken.

I am in linux, so it calculates my size slightly different. But there is something suspicious with what it is doing. I checked the update-script, and it is copying all blur and google applications and bloatware to system folder. I verified in a file manager that my system is full of everything. Now it isn't all showing up in my app drawer. I suspect there are some competing services messing things up here. Not sure though.
But to answer your question, mine says 117.1

My google account is gone too. I used the newest download. I also noticed all the blur apks are still there. I thought a blurless rom removed all those. Im going back to my last backup I was running 2.0 great

[MOD] Disable menu unlock for lockscreen.

This is a mod for the lockscreen so that the capacitive menu button is disabled for unlocking. This has been tested on Vanilla Lockscreens, but should work the same on HTC Lockscreens. This also has been tested on 3.29* based sense roms, unsure if it will work with other bases. If you have other fixes (i.e. reboot button change) you will overwrite that. Please post if you need me to upload a fixed version of that. Thanks goto ViRuS for the idea, and brut.all/jesus freke for apktool.
Instructions:
Download flashable zip.
NANDROID NANDROID NANDROID? did i miss something?
Reboot into recovery.
Flash zip and reboot.
That was easy wasn't it?
No more accidental unlockings!
Cookers/Developers: If this does not work for your rom, PM me and i can make individual flashable updates.
Rom users: reply to the thread with the base rom that it does not work on. I can find the base myself and make a list of updates.
Edit: It will take awhile to reboot, because i added a cache and dalvik-cache wipe to the update script.
Added mediafire mirror.

Just flashed on Fresh 3.3.0.1 and it took a while for the phone to reboot but it's working great. Thanks!
Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar. This is very, very appreciated.
Would you be willing or be able to get to the bottom of the graphical glitches with the Vanilla lockscreen? I know it's plaguing more than one person, myself included.

Just found a bug (and a pretty major one). It worked perfectly fine disabling the menu button unlock; however, it also FC'ed the HTC dialer, vanilla clock, and HTC gallery every time I tried to open them. Nandroid was my friend today. Not sure if this will happen with anyone else.

Everything was working fine until I flashed this zip. Maybe I'm just the only one with a stubborn Evo. lol
i have been looking for this for the past few days. a couple of questions before i flash. does it work on stock rooted deodexed with a removed HtcLockScreen.apk? also what .apk have you edited, i have mods made to my framework-res.apk, wondering if they will be touched. Thanks!
EDIT: After flashing on Rooted Doedexed stock rom, it foze on the 4G boot screen. i did a battery pull and tried again... IT WORKS! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
so, i'm new to android. does anyone mind giving me step-by-step instructions on how to do this to my fascinate? thanks.

You are correct from what i have seen, also, there is an easier way to do this, also i didn't think the Menu button even did that, sure hasn't anytime i have tried it, or maybe it's because i'm using sense.
I tried to flash this and did not work for me im rooted on evo with no custom rom I just don't like the slider oh and i used unrevoked if that means anything. Im new to this also any suggestions or did I just miss something?
ATM I have two choices: Vanilla Lockscreen with this fix or Reboot Menu. Can you implement your fix with this reboot menu?

Need good primer

Just purchased my first Android phone (Aria). I noticed that there is a lot of bloatware on this phone and that there are several things missing that I would like to have. Namely, I would like swype and active wallpapers, but I'm sure there is much more.
I have spent the day looking through webpages around how to install these things and remove the bloatware. The furthest I have gotten is to get the phone to root. I am a developer by trade but have just a little Java experience.
Can someone point me in the right direction on a primer on how to install these things and remove the bloatware?
I notice that people refer to different ROMS a lot. I would be interested in learning how to install these as well.
Sorry for the newb question, but I need a little context to be able to get to work.
Thanks!

for removing the bloatware you have a couple options now that you're rooted. You can install a custom ROM, search this forum for CM6.1.1 or Liberated for that. Installing these ROMs is detailed in their respective threads here in the Development section. Or to just remove the bloatware and keep your stock ROM search for a thread called "alternate method for removing bloatware". That details how to remove whatever system apps you dont want using adb.
As for Swype, thats a little more tricky. The only "legit" way to get it is to sign up for the beta at Swypes website, but the beta currently closed and who knows when it will open again. The other option is to just search google for someone that has a pirated version available for download. Swype beta is free so you shouldnt feel too bad for downloading it unofficially The newest version is 2.15.56. You will also need to search for a thread about sideloading apps to install swype if you dont want to install a custom ROM. As for live wallpapers on a stock aria, I have no idea on that one, sorry.
Good Luck

Wow, thanks for all the great information guys. I got a liberated ROM loaded last night but it is certainly a "learn as you go" exercise! The ROM I got was a stock minus the AT&T bloatware. Still haven't gotten live wallpapers to work yet, but I'll tinker with it as I get time.
That being said, which ROM do you guys feel is the best?
Thanks again, the last 3 or 4 posts have been extremely helpful!
congrats bro, i personally recommend the Liberated FR008, or CM6 FroYo. they are both excellent stable ROM's, and they both include live wallpapers too

My Rom of choice is definitely Cm6.1.1. But that's just my preference. The liberated roms are also great roms. Try them both. Regardless of which you choose both have excellent support from the community and the devs which its very important.
Sent from my cm6.1 Aria using XDA App
I agree with the previous two posts, you really can't go wrong with either of the two Froyo (Android 2.2) ROMs -- Liberated FR008 or CyanogenMod 6.1.x. One very important thing to remember is before you install any new ROMs, boot into Clockwork Recovery (With the phone off, hold the volume down and power button simultaneously). Once there, click on NANDROID and then make a back-up. After you make the back-up, reboot the phone and then copy the back-up folder to your computer just to be safe. It's in the Clockwork folder on your SD card. Once you've done that, you can feel comfortable installing different ROMs knowing that you have that back-up you can always return to if you run into problems.
Oh and one more thing, although it probably isn't totally necessary, I also delete data/Factory reset, delete cache and delete dalvik cache prior to installing a new ROM. This isn't necessary if you're just installing an update to the same ROM you already have running, but it's a pretty good way to ensure a trouble-free installation on a new ROM. The downside is that you have to install all your apps from scratch afterwards, but that can also be a good thing, allowing you to edit out the apps you really aren't using anyway.
Make sure all of your contacts are GOOGLE contacts before you start flashing ROMs as well. This will ensure that you don't lose any with a new ROM install. One of the ROMs (Cyanogen, I think) doesn't allow you to view contacts from the SIM card, so if you haven't moved them all to Google, you'll essentially lose them until you go back to a different ROM.

[Q] Stock .apk backups?

Hello, i have a request from the fine people in this forum. Does anyone have the stock tmobile .apks that came with the SK4G? I rooted and thought taking out some of the bloat would be good, now the curtain unlock is giving me trouble on boot. I overlooked making backups like a noob, and was wondering if anyone could upload them or point me in the right direction? Thank for your time and reply.
Which ones do you need?
Sent from my Sidekick 4G using XDA app
if someone wants to pull the messaging app apk, id be really appreciative.
I am not actually sure what .apk is to blame, I took several out. Getting started.apk? I'm not sure at all, but it seemed like a pretty harmless uninstall. Could it be possible to get a full collection of the stock .apks? Or a list perhaps? Seemingly this could be a great help to everyone. Thanks so much for your reply bburke88!
Edit>> Im in the process of backing up all the .apks i still have and will zip and post soon....if it is allowed? idk

[ROM] [4.1.2] [UCLL3] Stock Debloat (updated 1/4/13)

CREDIT
All credit here goes to mohan_kr and his anonymous source, without them, this couldn't exist.
INFO
This is a debloated, deodexed version of the UCLL3 leak, which is fully functional, so far as I have been able to tell.
This is NOT rooted by default, you must flash superuser to obtain root, mentioned later in this post.
I have left in all applications that I believed are accessed through settings options, even the ones for motion tutorials. This is NOT bare bones. Almost every Samsung app is still here, besides Media Hub because I always thought it was useless. I may remove the Samsung backup apps at a later date, I have not seen what they do yet.
Anyone looking to use this as a base for a ROM, feel free to do so, just follow what mohan_kr wanted and give credit to his anonymous source. I haven't done anything difficult, so no need to mention me at all.
What I have removed:
google+
swype
youtube
kindle
google books
city ID
family map
featured apps
mog
liveTV
google magazines
media hub
need for speed shift
ocean wather
quickoffice
sns.apk
smartwifi
telnav
google videos
WISP
weather wall
yellow pages
att code scanner
att digital locker

DISCLAIMER
I am not responsible for anything that happens to you or your device(s) from using this ROM. Hard brick, soft brick, dead cat, loss of limb, amnesia - all your problems, not mine.
INSTRUCTIONS
Note that your /data partition (not your internal SD card, that is safe) WILL be wiped by the ROM's updater script.
Download ROM and whatever else you wish to flash (e.g. root, insecure kernel, radio)
BACK UP YOUR STUFF. nandroid, titanium, whatever you use, just make a backup.
Wipe system/data if you're coming from an AOSP based ROM (anything not TouchWiz). This may not be needed, but I have not tried it myself.
Flash ROM through recovery. I'm using sk8's latest CWM touch recovery, it should work with that
Flash any other additions you want (root, mohan's insecure kernel, the UCLL3 radio)
Wait for the device to boot. There wasn't any initial setup for me, just go add your google account through settings yourself.

i had that issue before too. i think that is an issue with the leak, not with this ROM, as i didnt remove anything related to the camera at all. once the thing i wanted to take a picture of was gone though, the camera decided to work. i think its just hit or miss, keep trying to reopen it.

You have to decompile the systemui and edit the correct XML in order to get the battery icons to represent the way you want 1-100% battery icon you best bet is to go to embryo 6.2 or learn some theming

what everyone else here has said hopefully has been of help, but if you just want the information of the battery level and dont care about it being the actual icon, there is an option in settings to show battery level in text form next to the icon.
im assuming you dont want that, but just letting you know on the off chance that you didnt know the option was there.

i cant confirm it for a fact, as i dont have any exchange account to test it with, but i know for a fact in the version i did, i did not remove exchange, nor the forced security that goes along with it. if exchange is working on samsungs end, it should be working on this.
