Anyone tried/using clockworkmod touch recovery? - Motorola Atrix 2

The question says it all. I think a touch based recovery would be rad, and we all know CWM is legit. Does anyone use it? If so, does it work well?

I highly doubt it will work for our phone. Considering we had to have nitroglycerine33 whip us up a custom CWM that would work on our phone, I doubt that touch cwm would work...

Lol, duh. Think before you post fall. Ha!
I guess if I could use touch recovery I wouldn't be using Bootstrap. Roflcopter!

we are able to flash the bionic recovery with rom manager, so maybe it is possible to use a bionic build of CWM touch, if there ever is one.

or this for the razr maybe? http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...-interesting/page__hl__jydaddy__fromsearch__1

i flashed the razr touch and it boots to it from are bootstrap so i would say it works. i haven't tried flashing anything from it or nothing yet but it's a good sign.
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509127
I just tried making a backup and it said it couldn't mount system. so it won't work as it is now. but it's a start.

+1 for trying.

I was able too take parts from our bootstrap and I got the razr touch recovery to where it was able to make backups. But I'm not going to restore it at work. I can't go 6 hours without my phone if it craps out.
If I did get it working I'm not going to release it til I get permission from everyone involved in the two recoveries that I used to do it.

Sounds great man! Thanks for working it out!

I went ahead and restored after I uninstalled some apk's and there back and my phone boots. When I get home I'll try flashing a rom.
But for now it looks like we have a winner!

nice, can't wait to try this out

It flashes rom's so i'll say its good to go. i'll PM nitroglycerine33 and see if he care if i share it. if he don't i'll have it out in a day or two.
nitroglycerine33 was fast getting back with me. Download thread is now up http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686598

Backup and restores are performed through bootstrap for right now. The fastboot files need to be on your computer so you can run them via RSD lite. But only if something goes wrong
Sign me up, I have an extended warranty so if it dies, I can get a replacement.
I would love to beta test

MIUI Skyrocket

http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?20745
Development for MIUI skyrocket has been started by 0xD34D.
Please assist him by testing and giving logcats of any issues you have.
His name is lithium76 here on xda.
HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Place zip on root of SD card.
2. Boot into cwm, take a nandroid.
3. Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache.
-----3a. Or use darkside wipe.
4. Install zip from SD.
5. Reboot system. Enjoy
NOTES:
This has most of the same bugs our aokp R1 had and maybe a few other small bugs.
To fix reboot menu. After initial boot let rom settle for 5mins, manually boot into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik. Reboot system.

I'm thinking you might want to work off of the stock MIUI build. Don't install the AOKP kernel. The UCVL8 kernel has everything except orientation working. No other bugs. Nothing. Zilch.

[Q] Be very careful with Goo Manager...Hard Bricked my Skyrocket

I've been rooting phones, flashing roms, and even flashing others phones to different carriers for, 5-6 years now I'd say. So, I know what I'm doing. I recently started using Goo Manager to download things occasionally, and to say the least I'm screwed. Downloaded the latest twrp recovery and it automatically booted into recovery and flashed the image. Endpoint...hard bricked.
Just be careful with goo is all I'm saying. I never confirmed it to flash the download and it didn't even ask. As soon as it was done dl'ing it just did it. I knew instantly it was going to be problematic. Because it wasn't actually the twrp img for my skyrocket. I was downloading it to use on another phone and transfer to my computer. So, now I'm without a phone. Sucks..
Anyone know of a way to get into download mode without having to use Jtag? lol prolllly not

I am not sure why someone that has been doing this for years would put anything on the phones memory that doesn't go with the phone for any reason. It seems like half, if not more, of the bricks that happen are because of the wrong thing trying to be installed on the phone. Knowing that, it seems like a good idea to NEVER put anything on the phone that doesn't go with the phone, if you plan on using it or not. I guess this is just another precautionary tale for others now because if you really are hard bricked then Jtag is your option. Assuming you have already tried download mode, Odin, etc...Anyone doing this as long as you would have already known to try that stuff first...right? Good luck.
I got into a similar problem with goo manager. Ended with hard brick. Will never use goo or rom manager. Odin and twrp or cmw are the way to go. And never, ever flash anything unless you know it's for your device. That was the problem with goo, it said it was but wasn't.

You know you can force a reboot of the phone during the download by holding the power key or pulling the battery, right? If you knew what the file was, why didn't you do that?
I've downloaded ROM files hundreds of times through GooManager and gapps files at least a few dozen on three different phones across two platforms (Rocket and Note II). I've also flashed recoveries through it more times than I can remember. It's never once caused a problem, downloaded the wrong file, or even soft-bricked me.
I thought you couldn't brick a phone by a botched recovery flash. Because it's only writing to the recovery partition and not the system. Just what I once read anyway.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
I didn't know it was the wrong file until after it installed. It was supposed to be a gapps package that went with the Rom. I't didn't look right and I should have known better but I went with goo.
Just reinforces you should always know that what ever you flash make sure it's for your specific device.

[Q] cwm touch FAIL

Having a problem with making nandroid back ups. First off a little back ground. I rooted and unlocked using the tutorial found here on xda had no problems every thing went well I chose clockwork mod touch as my recovery program. I can flash anything wipe bla bla bla... but I can only make a nandroid to the internal sd . When I try to backup to ext sd it fails while backing up system. so Im not sure what to do. Some what of a noobie so sorry !! Any help appreiciated

Flash the non touch version of cwm and try that. If it works. Redownload the touch version and try again.... if it doesn't maybe you need to format your sdcard? I really am not sure. I use touch just fine on my wife's phone

Use this. Boost ics stock rom?

Does anyone have Boost ics stock rom? My bootloader is unlocked and I have cwm but s-on. I don't have a way to get on a pc. Can I install through recovery with a nandroid or a .zip with s-on?
Sorry I didn't mean to post this in this thread. I'm not sure how to move it..
A moderator has to move it upon request. Yes, one is available on here, but you are S-On so you may have to pull the boot file from the backup, change name to boot.img then flash it using fastboot (which requires a pc)
However, I haven't been S-On in a long time so I could be wrong about the boot.img...
@russellvone could you elaborate for me.
Sent from my C525c using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanks for the quick reply! I know flashing probably wouldn't work and I already tried to use a jb nandroid from my brothers phone which didn't work which is why I was wondering if a stock ics unrooted would work
I'm not real sure what happened. All I did was do factory reset in cwm and now its stuck on the HTC quietly brilliant
Haha, that's simple, when you did a factory reset in CWM you formatted your partitions. Your boot.img is still intact but you have nothing on your data, system, etc so there is nothing to load which is why you are not getting past the screen. Only do a factory reset in a custom recovery when like flashing a Rom for example. Which version OS were you on originally before you wiped your phone out ....

I don't have an ICS backup, but I know @russellvone does. He keeps stuff like this on hand for just a situation like this one. However, you should only need to flash the system.img and be good after that. I recommend doing an OTA update in your settings once you get your device back up and going. We will be receiving 4.2.2 with Sense 5 soon.
Anyways, I tagged him as you can see. Just visit back here periodically to see if he replied back. He will, I guarantee you that. He will help you restore your device

You can use a JB backup but you will need the firmware.zip that comes in the JB OTA to flash in rebootRUU to complete the process on your device.

Your boot.img is still intact so flashing that Rom should get you booted up just fine. If for any reason you get stuck on the HTC screen then you will need to extract the boot.img and flash it with fastboot (however that shouldn't be necessary since you are still on stock boot.img for ICS)
