[Q] movie player and latest point - Android Apps and Games

Hi,
I am looking for a movie player for android which can play from latest point of the movie event application closes...

MX Player
Sent from my Blade using xda premium

I think every player from market has the ability u mentioned (resume last play)

vplayer also supports which i like best.

I personally use moboplayer and this works well with multiple files as well (stop half way through two seperate files and the resume will continue from last point on both - or more)

Best Media Player?

What are the best media playing apps, of any variety and quickly why? If there is not one that does this well, list individual ones for music and video.
I am compiling a list of the best apps of each category, so leave your opinion and a quick reason to help out the community.
If the app costs $, be sure to say so!
edit: oops double post, please merge with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945642 if mod sees.
Best music player in my opinion is MIUI Music
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854766
Very nice UI, downloads album artwork and song lyrics (with option to only download when connected to wifi)
Lyrics are highlighted in sync with the song.
The app is free.
For hardware video playback, mVideoplayer is great. Subtitle and automatic subtitle downloading, gesture support, loads of other features. Is free with ads, I think, but I have those blocked so I can't say for certain. For software video playback... Rockplayer, plays most files perfectly. Costs money though. There's also moboplayer which is free, it's in beta and kinda buggy though, but looks promising and plays most of my normally unsupported files well. Also it's not on the market.
As for music I like doubletwist, it's free and has a nice, clean GUI.
Vital Player
It's free, open almost all format, and is on the same level of Rock Player...
Bump!

I go between doubletwist, zimly, MIUI, and everything else. For videos I usually go with rockplayer, mvideoplayer, or the default music app.

[Q] Can anyone play all kinds of music files and video files from their Asus Pad?

Seems like some video/music formats can't be played on this pad.
Anyone know a good program to download that will let you play all formats?
and is everyones facebook widget force closing on them? like mine it keeps force closing.
Transformer only opens mkv, mp4, mp3, ogg as far as I know (I don't have the device). To open other formats you need to download apps - look into the apps thread or to Xoom forum for some direction (or search on market for file types you like to open).
for music use power amp. It works.
Rock player works for video, so thats every format covered?
Popular (for music) are also APE and MPC but searching the market reveals many, many apps that play them (and personally I convert all the ape files I get to flac anyway).
And yes, the facebook widget and the application itself "force closes" almost immediately.
I looked for the friend stream widget that I have on my Desire HD rom, but I guess that is part of HTC apps.

vital player ( free ) is also working well for me.
however annoyingly when using MyNet ( dlna ) you cant choose a program to open the video files with so the file just errors with can play this video type
Currently trying to play a 1280x720 -x264- MKV file. Standard player is full of green blocks when trying to run it. Using Rock Player the picture is very clear but it's very jerky like the frame rate is about 5.
Am I doing something wrong? Surely it should play perfect?

Ive never seen Mobo Player go out of synch.
Did you try changing hardware/software mode and trying that?
Mobo player is the best so far imo.
I agree. Mobo Player is the only one I've been able to find that I can stream video with my Tversity media server. Been able to play everything I've thrown at it so far.

I us TVersity, too. But Mobo Don't find the Server. Where i can find the TVersity Streaming Server in the Mobo Player?

Im using rock player, it played EVERY video file i have asked it to run.
try diceplayer
Rock/Mobo/Vital/vPlayer can not use hw decoder when playing file that isn't supported by system like MKV(+DTS/FLAC).
Diceplayer can play MKV/M2TS files using HW Decoder.so
diceplayer use almost same power as stock player. sw codec base player need more power.
Xperia Play have QSD8255. it can play 720p High level 3.1~4.1
I had issues with RockPlayer on my XP, can't remember if I tried MoboPlayer.
I'm using arcMedia Player and that has played everything I have thrown at it.
Android's media playing capabilities definitely seems to be weaker than that of iPhone and Windows IMHO.

You just access the media server address in your browser and use the web interface to find the video you want that way. Then choose Mobo Player to play the video.

Thanks for mentioning of diceplayer - i tried it and seems good for everything but cannot play WMV files - it has an option to play them stock but regardless of what I set it too does not play them.
you dont need a DNLA server such as ps3media center or tversity to stream your media.
Install the cifs/tuns modules (or flash my system.img with it all built in) and use cifs manager to map your pc's network drives to your sdcard.
You can now stream video, pictures and audio over your wifi network without any extra software running on your PC.
and if you wanna get tricky you can run a vpn to your pc and connect to it and stream music while away from your house ;D

Thanks for the recommendation on arcMedia. It worked flawlessly with .avi, .div, .divx, .srt subtitles in spanish failed with accented letters and non-english characters but japanese subtitles worked perfect, and they look really sharp.
Even though MoboPlayer was recommended by a lot of people and someone reviewed it (I searched for that thread but I couldn't find it again), .divx wasn't recognized as a video file, .div closed after a split second and .avi's audio was out of synch like hell. I didn't even check if subtitles were supported.
Mobo has worked the best transfered plenty of BR Rips from PB and they look amazing on the xplay. People at work are like wtf.

Mobo player has a soft decoder that plays all video files there are out.

Someone mentioned this to me, how do you go about setting a vpn up, would it work for network connected storage?
Also how safe is it to use?

don't know about vpn but get "File Expert" from the market and you can map network drives (including NAS drives, i.e. PC can be off) and stream video via wifi (dice player or other players supporting your formats will be needed, otherwise your are limited to MP4 format) - I mapped my NAS device using internal IP address - don't know how secure it would be if you enable external web access to it through external IP and not sure if it would work as an FTP or something for downloading only not streaming possibly.
I use upnplay for streaming over a network in conjunction with moboplayer works great (probably the 2 best free apps iv ever come across).
Im interested in setting up a vpn to access my content whilst out and about or through someone elses wifi. Might have to invest in a sling box

I use Wyse PocketCloud from the Market to access two machines at work - one via remote desktop to take control of it, one with UltraVNC to share with other people on it. But if it's file sharing not just using your PCs' desktops - one of the guys here uses remote desktop to put files he needs into the Dropbox remotely, then picks them up in the Dropbox on his mobile. I don't use Dropbox yet - want to try setting up external access to the network files first to see how they work in File Expert if at all. Maybe TUN/CIFS modules are better for that but I haven't tried them out either.
Mobo Player the best!
and for audio FYI, i'd go for PowerAMP!
I'm using rock player, no issue for me so far.

problem with movie player

i got an HTC one x device recently and i tried to play a HD movie on it it was 720p BRRip x264 AAC. the movie played smoothly, but the was a problem every time i try to forward the movie to a certain time it skips to a completely different time i tried to install 3rd party programs, still didnt help. so any one know what's the problem?
P.S : my device it up to date and running on android 4.1.1
if u need more info just ask and ill reply as fast as i can. thanks
I personally use a third party app for movies and stuff due to more codec avail . There is a couple good players out there, I use mx player , I think there is vlc player for android, do a little searching around and you should be real happy with another player
Edit: try it on diff movies it may just be that video

Best Android Video/Media Player? (Identical to Infuse for iOS?)

Hi,
Just got my S7 Edge in the post today
and coming from/abandoning IOS
i feel a little out in the blue
I have been using the Infuse Media app for ios for a long long time
and for me it feels like that app got everything.
what's important for me that i'm looking for is the following
- Play media from NAS/network storage.
- Subtitle support (online and saved subtitles locally).
- Download files/videos from network storage/NAS.
- Chromecast support (maybe AirPlay too)
- Swipe fastforwarding option.
dose anyone know any media app that is identical to the Infuse one i've been using with these functions?
it would be of great help for a new android/samsung user.
Kodi seems to be the most popular alternative for infuse. I haven't used it myself but worth giving it a shot.
Kodi or Plex will give you full media player capability. I just use File Manager HD to browse my NAS, and view thru MX player, which allows substtitles to be downloadsled. When playing thru a NAS, the filename received by MXplayer isnsome weird coded thing, so MX can't automatically locate subtitles, I just enter the name manually and it gets me the subs I need.
You should try the MX Player app. According to me this is the best video player for Android.
I have also migrated from ios recently and kodi is what you are looking for. It's the best on Android.
