[APP] Samsung Galaxy S II Toolkit Beta V2.4 *CMW, Root, and Roms all in one place* - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

NOTICE - Just wanted to let everyone know that the toolkit might not be updated for a while. Not because I am not working on it. But I am switching programming languages and improving a lot of aspects of the toolkit. Mostly because of the feedback I have gotten. I am going to be doing the toolkit in a way that will save you all a lot of hassle with installing and downloading, and the next major release will also auto update. I will however be doing bug fixes until the next release. I want to thank all of my followers and donors for the continuous feedback and support. I do this all for you.
Thanks,
Ajster1989

Here is what it can do so far:
- At start it checks to see if USB Drivers is installed, if it's not installed will download and installs Kies for you. (This insures that your USB Drivers are correctly installed)
- At start it checks for USB debugging connection to ADB
- Phone selection menu to chose which SGS II phone you have, and set's tool kit up for that phone.
- Only downloads the files for the phone you select (Currently only T989 and I727)
- Guides you through installing CWM
- Guides you through Rooting your device
- Guides you through Flashing a Custom ROM
- Guides you through Flashing back to STOCK (Auto downloads when needed)
- Reboots Recovery and Download
- Side Load APK's
- Keeps track of your current phone, last flashed recovery, last flashed rom.
Want a feature that I haven't added, request it in the comments or PM me and it might be added to my next release.
Features to come in next release:
- I will be adding support for ROMs to be flashed through ODIN.
- I will be looking into adding a menu of different ROMs to download
- I will be adding Super.Wipe Script, will be pushed with all ROMs. (Waiting for Dev Permission)
- I will be adding also the counter reset script as an option.
Please let me know of any bugs.
Known Bug's so far:
-none (let's find some)
The more feedback I get the quicker I will have a better version, will be adding support for the rest of the family of SGS II's too.
Download from my website at the link below...

wish this was around when i first got my skyrocket.

Excellent idea of a program .. however, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit .. utility does NOT run !!!
Application shows up in the Task Manager / Processes as SGSIIToolKitV2.4.exe *32 .. but nothing shows on the screen !!
*** EDIT .. stand corrected .. MUST RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR in order for it to work.

Run as admin if you have problems, if you launch it from the Icon it puts on the desktop it should default to admin

1. Copy the ZIP to the root of your SD Card and then Turn off/unplug your device
2. Turn it on again while holding down the 'volume down' button this time. The screen will look similar to before, but will say 'HBOOT' instead of 'FASTBOOT'.
3. Use the volume buttons and the power button to select the 'RECOVERY' option. You should then see a screen with a red triangle - at this point, plug it into your Linux or OSX computer.
4. From 'push files' zip that you downloaded you'll see a file called 'recovery-linux.sh' or 'recovery-mac.sh'. Run the one appropriate to your operating system and the screen of your device should change to display the green recovery image menu.
5. In the recovery image (moving around using the optical trackball), select 'Wipe -> Wipe data /factory reset'.
6. Then 'Flash zip from sdcard' and choose the "Pympsters_ROM_0-1". Confirm with the trackball and the update process will begin.
When the flash has finished, reboot, and you are DONE, WHOOHOO!

Lite BETA?
Ok this has proved much more difficult to make this than I originally intended! I have yet to find a fix to a FC error on the MMS app. This is very much a BETA release, there will be the occasional FC error. Contact sync with google can often cause an error. Please post the details and any screenshots so I can try and squash these bugs
Oh and in reality its probably more of an ALPHA release. I recommend making a Nand backup before hand, in case you want to flash back quickly
Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing...
I only started making the ROMs for myself and a friend and wanted to share them with you guys on here. I clearly give credit to Paul at the bottom!
I'm using Paul's ROM as a base because it's a really good start point. I'm working in implementing a few other things to the ROM. You can pay to have some of the things I have added/removed using Paul's online kitchen here.
I am making this ROM primarily for myself and to increase my understanding of the Android platform.

I saw the link at the bottom, and I'm not trying to be rude, I have no problem with you basing stuff on my public releases.
I couldn't work out from the topic if it was based on my ROM, so I'm probably not the only one, that's all!

ROM Factory
What is ROM Factory?
Its a tool that will allow the user to create a picture perfect .img from your boot and system partition. It will then create an update.zip from it.
What is a "Fruit Cake"?
A fruit cake is the finish product, a self contain rom, already ready for installation, already inside an update.zip.
So really what does it do?
It allows a bootloader unlocked user to create a full copy of their boot and system partition. All of it, including mods and changes done to either one of those partitions.
Can this be use for easier rom development?
Yes! Beyond just its normal capabilities! After installing the resources you can modify the script and add things to it in *sdcard* /fcm/workdir! Once you are done adding and changing things in there, press "Create ROM".
Supported Devices:
olympus (atrix), sunfire (photon), triumph, WX435, fb0 (triumph), p999 (lg g2x), p990 (lg o2x), p970 (lg optimus black), ace (htc desired hd), pyramid (htc sensation), galaxys2, GT-I9100, GT-I9100M, GT-I9100T, SGH-I777, SGH-I727, hercules, crespo (nexus s), crespo4g (nexus s 4g), toro (cdma galaxy nexus), maguro (gsm galaxy nexus)
Experimental Support:
umts_jordan(defy), wingray, stingray (xoom)
Your phone must be rooted!
Step One: Press the Install Resources button on screen.
Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.
Step Two: Press the Create Fruit Cake button on the screen.
Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.
You use this application at your own risk, I am in no way responsible for any damage this application causes.

No.
One of the biggest reasons is that Whitehawkx released some of his personally written files to ease porting of MIUI from the O2X, so now there are a dozen and a half MIUI variants. The others just happen to be around - people have a lot of spare time during December it seems.
Oh just wondering thanks
Nvidia always!
So are people going to post their set ups in here? And do you flash this update zip like any other Rom?

Nightlys and experimental.
Starting Feb 1st or 2nd. My build bot will begin auto compiling nightlys for those who want to experiment with the latest changes. Nightlys will be compile each night and made available no later than midnight.
An experimental build will begin to be compile mid Feb. the build will be compile every friday at 6pm. The experimental build will feture a different preference screen, and will require the user to specify all the variables. ie: boot location, system location, storage, mode. so on. This build aims at enthusiast who wish to use the tool on a non supported device.
FCM now has requirements. Busybox must be installed to use the back up mode.
Thank guys for your support.
I'm currently waiting on Google.
I submitted the new version into the market, but somehow i ended up with an older version being available for download. hopefully this issue will be solved soon. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
1.6 finally!
Some of the testers are reporting errors with the new modes, but changing storage location seem to be working quit good. I will be writing a tutorial on how to properly use all the new modes. Regardless, this new version requires Busybox for app mode, and back up mode. It must be installed on /system/xbin << same location used by cm7 and cm9. I will be releasing a new version tomorrow or Thursday, to fix some of the new mode woes.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi and welcome to the "Semi-Official" Samsung Exhibit II 4G Development thread! Please keep in mind that all Info/Links/Roms/Kernels, etc. will be updated frequently as this is a Work In Progress[WIP].

Now let's get to the Good Stuff!!

Rooting Your Exhibit II 4G(How-To w/drivers)
Fortunately we have been able to gain root access using the Zerg Rush method. Use the instructions below to gain root on your Exhibit II 4G.
A. Download SGH-T679 USB Drivers(I have hosted them for you)
B. Enable USB Debugging Mode on your Exhibit II by going to Settings/Applications/Development and checking USB debugging.
C. Go ahead and unzip the USB drivers from section A and plug in your Exhibit II to the Computer.
D. When the "Installing New Hardware" or "Installing Drivers" notification comes up, please direct your computer to the unzipped directory. *Some with Windows 7 will not have to worry about this as your computer will automatically install the correct drivers*
E. Download Zerg Rush Root.zip(I have hosted it for you)
F. Unzip Zerg Rush Root.zip and run the batch file(runme.bat)
G. Sit back and watch as your Exhibit II 4G is rooted!

I have added a list of "Safe to Remove" apps that I have currently verified to be 100% Safe to Remove. Will add more as I test them out, but I have already soft-bricked my phone once and am trying not to repeat the process.
Thanks again for your suggestion.
This is so awesome u guys rocc now let's make our phone a beast

In case it is beneficial, I did manage to freeze the actual TouchWiz launcher after installing another launcher first. Phone still works fine. Regular lockscreen is still there after that. I do use MagicLocker as well so we might be able to remove that. Just need to know what file to freeze.
This is great news. Cant wait to get ics on samsung exhibit 2. What can i do to help? My skills are excellent in user interface design, mobile graphics.
I will contact you via PM here on the forums when your skills are needed. Thanks again for your contribution...
Currently downloading a stock recovery image so I can finally fix my Exhibit II after screwing with internal files. Should be about 2 hrs or so before we see the Dev thread updated once more with another tutorial...
*UPDATE*
swonsay's Bloatware Removal Script is in the testing stages as I have been sent a copy to test.
Stay tuned to the Dev thread for the release date information.
Terribly sorry to crowd the thread with non dev info, but there is a forum open at Androidforums.com we could use if you guys want to. Maybe after development gets further along and we need multiple threads for things? androidforums.com/samsung-exhibit-2-4g/ Just wanted to put that out there.
Thank you, all the participating developers! I'm sure my phone will be happy to know that it will soon get more capabilities!
Thank you so much every dev out there working on developing cjustom ROM for the exhibit 2!!! if any help is needed on making icons or any design work please let me know! I'll do everything in my power to help!
Themed Builds
So my trusty auto de-odexer didn't work so here's try 2. I just hope I don't get it all themed up and no way to flash it. If anybody needs any stock pieces just message (ex. recov. , framework, whole ROM)
^ me too

When we get around to custom kernels and ROMs, is there anyway you guys could make the captivate keys blink like an LED notification light? I tried the keylights app, but all it does is FC :/.
I will contact the developer of the Keylights app and see if I can integrate his code into the Rom when the time comes. Good suggestion and thanks....

I have it rooted, unlocked connected to ATT with 3G speeds and able to wifi tether through barnacle wifi tethering , Check the box Skip wpa_supplicant, and go to channel 6. It is working like a charm, able to tether my tablet to it!

Hercolubus V2.6 Issues
Hi all,
I've just joined here - have been using android for a long time and have been having fun with it - making all sorts of changes etc. These forums have been a godsend - most issues are mentioned somewhere or the other - locating them can however be a painful excercise.
I want to report some issues with Hercolubus V2.6. I am not sure where to post bug reports - the developer's forum blocks me since I've just joined and I could not locate a specific bug-report forum for it - if there is one can someone please transfer this post to the correct forum. I've also posted this in the Q&A forum
Issues -
1. Long press on left (i.e. menu) button has been set as Search, however long pressing it causes the preferences menu to pop-up and flicker (appear/ disappear quickly). Getting search to appear is a hit-or-miss thing.
2. The create contacts group option cannot be found - so how do I create contact groups?
3. Contacts cannot be created on SIM
Take care and keep smiling
TIA

Upgrade to 2.7+hotfix - the aftermath
This upgrade + Hotfix (2.7 + hotfix) was/ is NOT a nice experience, things break - badly.
The following refuse to install from anywhere - titanium backup, google play store or direct apk backup done by yours truly using appsaver - nothing works. They are - Wikitude, GPS essentials, Twicca (I'm off twitter, yaaaargh!!!) and Al Jazeera.
The error in all the cases is "Missing Shared library" - which one(s)???? How to trace?
All the older problems of contact group etc also still remain.
I ran the 2.7 update then the hotfix and THEN did factory reset. I also use Link2SD
Any ideas on how to proceed?
TIA

2.7 followup
Hi rkoby,
Nice ROM, the opening boot animation is awesome. btw, the xda app is missing in 2.7! Lol
Also, titanium backup installs and works! The ones that gave the trouble are given a little later in the message above.
I'll try the update once again later tonight when I reach home.

Here goes round 2 - factory reset -> update 2.7 -> factory reset -> 2.7 hotfix -> factory reset -> reinstall titianim backup -> recover
Result - no change - 4 apps still do not install. tanj!!!! (There ain't no justice)
Its late night - I'll do another round in the morning and report.
EDIT: Round 3 - I previously was deleting ADW and launcherPro from the ROM (since I didn't need them) prior to recovery - now I did the install with them in place and same results as above. Is anyone able to replicate this problem?
Bye all
round 3 - installation issues resolved
Here's what I did -
Went back to V2.5 - immediately after the system came up - tried to install all 4 - all worked.
Installed V2.6 - immediately after the system came up - tried to install all 4 - all worked.
Unistalled all 4 - installed link2SD - reinstalled all 4 - all worked
Restored Titanium backup and got back system.
Remaining at 2.6 at present.
Great rom still
