Plea for help.. - HTC Sensation

I know I was down this road before.
I upgraded my 4G to ICS one of the first ones...
Then using One-X toolKit successfully installed CWM and root the thingy...
Silly me.. Started Fooking with perfectly fine phone..... and screwed it up to the point that I lost Sense, contacts, music... Otherwise it booted and worked...
Now started at point 0 again. D/loaded GB RUU, flashed it with no probs...
Looked for T-mo ICS update, found it and installed. NOW....... Dummy me, can't install CWM.... Can't root. All my effort end up at white HTC screen with no response at all, until I pull the battery out and then restart it. Restarts fine, everything works, but with no root cannot use Titanium and do have some apps to install.
Please, if someone had the same situation would you give me some pointers....
Getting to the point to go insane..... Thanks!!

Did you s-off or are you s-off? To check take the battery out of your phone put it back in and hold down the power plus the volume down rocker. If it says S-off then just follow this guide if not you see what hboot you are on, assuming its 1.2x then follow this guide if its 1.18 then just use this

Thanks for the reply.
After 10 hour fighting with that thing, finally got it done...
Still have no idea of what happened but, what I've done last, I didn't let it to reboot... Clicked BOOT TO RECOVERY right away.. It might of done the trick and allow me toboot to CWM and install the Superuser..... Now everything is fine..
Thanks, all!!!!

[GUIDE] How to Unroot the EVO in 2 STEPS

A lot of you have been asking for how to unroot the EVO, either because you're having problems and want to start over or you are returning your phone and need to have it unrooted. I've had nothing but trouble in the past trying to unroot using other methods, especially using the RUU on a PC. It always fails for me. Well here is the most simple guide to unroot!! Thanks to regaw for helping me with this, hosting, and the Unrevoked team for the S-ON tool!
HOW TO UNROOT THE EVO VIDEO WALKTHROUGH
How to Unroot the HTC EVO 4G
◄●REQUIRED DOWNLOADS●►
Unrevoked S-On Tool
PC36IMG
◄●SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS●►
If you're comfortable with everything Android related(flashing, recovery, etc.) then its just 2 simple steps:
If you used Unrevoked Forever at any time, flash unrevoked-forever-son.zip from recovery until hboot shows S-ON
Flash the PC36IMG.zip from hboot
◄●DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS●►
If you need a little more guidance, follow these instructions.
◄●If you have used Unrevoked forever, start here●►
Make sure you have downloaded the files linked above. Do not extract them
Connect your phone to your computer via USB and change to "Disk Drive" by dragging down from the notification bar.
If you have NOT used Unrevoked Forever, skip to the instructions below. If you have, transfer unrevoked-forever-son.zip to the root of your sdcard. Do NOT transfer the PC36IMG yet. It'll only cause a hassle and make this take longer.
Once complete, power off the phone
reboot into the recovery by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen. Then select RECOVERY.
Depending on what recovery you're using, you need to flash a zip. Select the unrevoked-foreverson.zip that you just transferred and complete the flash.
When complete, power off the phone. Reboot into the bootloader by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen. If it says S-ON at the top, select RECOVERY and skip to step 9. If it says S-OFF, repeat steps 5-7 Until it does.
◄●If you have NEVER used Unrevoked forever, start here●►
Power off the phone and reboot into the recovery by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen. Then select RECOVERY.
Connect via USB. There is an option for this in both Amon RA and Clockwork.
Transfer the PC36IMG.zip to the root of your sdcard.
EJECT THE PHONE FROM THE COMPUTER and then turn off USB in Recovery
Power off the phone and reboot into the bootloader by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen.
It should check the PC36IMG.zip and then ask you YES/NO to apply the update. Press VOL UP for YES
Once complete, Press VOL UP to reboot.
You are now unrooted!
I do believe that says ◄●If you have used Unrevoked forever, start here●► twice....
yeah it should say if you have NEVER used unrevoked
what about Amon Ra 1.8 it says S-OFF at the top of the screen? is that just for bootloader?

S-Off means unrevoked forever has been run. You will need to do the first part, to restore S-On.
Good, simple guide. One additional step if you've rooted via SimpleRoot is that you have to try and get back to the 1.40 PRI, which can be tedious. That might be worth mentioning.

Not quite. The previous post was correct. Its just the bootloader. Toasts root has an eng spl and will show s off. This is just the bootloader and will be flashed over. Unrevoked sets s off lower and is not flashed over.

Is there an adb method of unrooting?

You could get a MicroSDHC adapter and transfer the files from your PC directly to your card. Sorry if that's not particularly helpful. :/

So, I used Toast's method for rooting and have the eng hboot... I'm looking to get back to complete stock so I can play with Unrevoked 3.2... Just to verify before I proceed, will this pc36img.zip take me back to the release version of hboot as well as stock 2.1?
(I have some testing I need to do on my evo before I root my boss', gf, and other buddy's phones... I don't want them to lose their 1.40 PRI... I'm still stuck at 1.34 unfortunately, hence the reason I just want to get back to stock hboot and do all the testing from my phone...)

I used toast's method as well as unrevoked forever. It would be nice to know if this would work.
Unlike you, I tested the new unrevoked method on a few friends evo's without a single prob.
I would like to start over, unroot, get 1.4 pri and be done with it till the next big thing comes along.

Hi,
Which android version will this PC36IMG.zip go back to? Stock 2.1 or Stock 2.2? Thanks.
Best part about this (and i dont know if it will work for everyone) is that once I did this I then did a hard reset (##786# method) and it updated the pri to 1.4
Good news! It worked!
I had used simple root and had the the eng hboot.
DId the 2 simple steps and now am back to stock 2.2 as if I never rooted my phone. Now that I know it works.... back to root I go.
P.s I have 1.4 pri now too.
Thanks!
I can not get this to work

I bet you have s-on but it says s-off. Confusing right? Well, if you used simple root and have the engineering bootloader it will still say s-off even after running unrevoked-forever-son. Run it a few times just to make sure then do part two.
Well, that's what I did and ONLY after part 2 did I get s-on.

Hi folks.
I have a build of Forever for radio 2.15.00.11.19; it worked on my phone. So, for the adventurous amongst you who don't want to wait for the new unrevoked release (coming soon, I swear; we now all finally have a moment to breathe, so we're getting moving on this one), but are somehow stuck on the new radio, I have a new build for you -- get it at the usual place.

Quick question Joshua, Quite a while ago I Rooted my EVO with UnRevoked 3.21 and have S-Off and all is well. Back at that time should I have also flashed UnRevoked Forever, or does 3.21 also cover that?
Thanks.

Same question here, I only ran 3.21 and it put me in S-OFF. I've even flashed a couple of RUU's in the past and re-rooted, and the phone never went back to S-ON.
I had eng hboot with soff, but applied the new soff successfully to the radio after updating to the 2.15.00.11.19 radio.
This works flawlessly
Just wanted to let everyone know how I achieved full root with the newest OTA.
1) download newest S-OFF Patch that works with new radio while still rooted on older SW version. Install S-OFF.zip through recovery.
2) Use 3.29 ruu to restore phone back to stock, s-off will still be on. Download OTA update directly to phone after you finish initial setup.
3) Install downloaded OTA immediately. Let it do its thing. Once you reboot, place clockwork recovery (Amon-RA probably works too but I haven't tried it yet) on the root of your sdcard and make sure it is named pc36img.zip.
4) power off phone, hold volume down and power... phone will turn on and ask if you want to apply update , press volume up for yes.
5) you now have root and nand unlock with all the newest radio versions and a custom recovery to flash zips as you wish. I installed a stock de-odexed version of the newest OTA already as I wait for devs to release custom ROMS based on 3.70...
Have fun!!
Everything I used was downloaded right from here.
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever
THIS WAS DONE ON AN 003 HARDWARE PHONE. I CAN NOT GUARANTEE THIS WILL WORK ON 004!!!
Thanks. The Unrevoked site now shows support for 11.19.
Infinite loop duration: user-defined (good)
Brinell hardness: 35-45 (good)

If the phone says S-OFF, and it DOESN'T say "ENG" at the top, then you don't need to run Forever; you're already S-OFF. (It was included in all unrevoked releases since, I think, 3.2.)
Josh I have original eng boot with s-off and I flashed unrevoked forever just in case I decided to upgrade the hboot later . My hboot still shows eng s-off and flash said it was successful. Should I see still see eng in my hboot?

If you flashed Forever, it will still say ENG; there isn't an easy way to tell if it's a hard-S-OFF or soft-S-OFF if you have the ENG loader. But yes, if you flashed Forever, you are now hard-S-OFF, and it's OK if it still says ENG -- you just have to remember that you did flash Forever!
Cool, yeah it put a log on my SD card that said successful. Figured I would forever flash as some people lost s-off updating hboot.

Okay, so u lashed zip and got s-off... Place pc36img.zip onto root of sdcard and then powered off the phone... The you hold down power and volume down button at same time... Hboot should pop up and search for pc36img.zip automatically... It should find it and then ask if you want to proceed to update... Then you press volume up key and it will update.... Boot phone regularly, attach to computer.... Remove pc36img.zip from root of sd card... Shut phone down.... Hold down power and volume down at same time. Hboot will pop up again and look for pc36img.zip / since u removed it it will find nothing press volume down until recovery... when recovery is highlighted press power button.. you will be in recovery.... Just make sure you get the pc36img.zip file from unrevoked site... I downloaded the one for clockwork as I have never had a problem with it.

Since I just recently flashed the new radio but I'm still showing s-off, do I need to reflash unrevoked forever? Thanks for any help u can give.

Is there any benefit of the newest Hboot? I originally rooted my phone back in Sept with unrevoked 3.21. It had hboot .92 i believe, but then i flashed the eng .76 bootloader. Everything has been great. But recently I flashed caulkulin's all in one PRI, PRL, WIMAX, and RADIO. My phone has been booting, but I noticed it stays on the flash screen for a good amount of time, sometimes it will even hang up on the flash screen and I have to do a battery pull. Would it benefit me to flash the latest s-off, update OTA to 3.70 and follow the rest of the directions? Thanks for any help you can spare.

Anyone test this?

I was part of the beta test team. It worked fine then.
I ran it this weekend. It did the s-off after 3 tries (had to reboot computer one time between tries) then it offered to install the 4.0.1.4 clockworks mod recovery. Other than having to try several times, it worked great.
So is it confirmed if this will work for the Aria. Are there instructions on how to do this? I used Unrevoked when I first rooted. I haven't s-offed my phone because I don't understand SDK tools and using command prompt so I'm glad a "one click" finally came about.
How is this different from AlphaRevX? As I recall the second beta version had the option to install CWR as well. Does this version also install Superuser.apk?

You don't have to understand how to use the SDK tools or much of command prompt. Like when AlpharevX came, it basically did the work for you. All you had to do was download it and enter the beta key for your device and it does the rest.
I was finally able to S-0ff my phone! Took a while to get 3-4 hours but I just had to read A LOT and have patience. So I will say to anyone trying this don't panic just follow the instructions and read as much as you can. Chances are whatever problems you face have already been addressed somewhere.
My first issue came pretty early on when I kept getting invalid beta key's from the key generator. Turns out an "L" was really an "I". Once I got that I had to uninstall HTC sync and download the fastboot drivers. Once I did that Revolutionary took care of the rest. Once I was rooted I just restored my CM7 that I had backed up. Thank you all for the great writeups provided by XDA.
At Last !!!
After 2 days of buggering about I finally decided to start all over again. So I downgraded my Desire to its original and unrooted state, then I did the official OTA upgrade to give me Hboot 0.93.0001 ... and finally I ran Revolutionary on it from a Linux NetBook ...
I now have a properly S-Off-ed Hboot ... and I can start from scratch on formatting my new SD-Card, and looking at a few new de-branded roms ...
And the whole job only took about 45 minutes from beginning of the downgrade to the S-OFFed end.
THANKS GUYS ... Clean as a whistle
I used this method to root and get s off and now my power key is acting funky. Yes - power button is a little more touchy - just a quick hit and it goes to screen off - any longer, you get the control screen

I think it is more then that, because even to turn on the phone it takes a few presses of the button. I think I'm going to return it completely to stock with s on and no root and start all over to see if it happens then.

Okay a little background bought my aria used in January so since I had no warranty anyways I was rooted and running a custom rom within hours of getting the phone but this whole S-off thing had me a little worried because of the upgrade to a non rootable hboot if something would have went wrong I would be stuck. So been watching and reading since Alfarev showed up on the scene. I worked up the nerve tonight to go for it. I am happy to say I was S-off rooted and had my nand back up restored in half an hour. Just a couple things I wanted to mention the link in the original Alpharev thread now takes you to the same place this link in this thread does the Unrevoked+Alpharev and it was pretty easy after entering my key code the app s-offed my phone and then asked to install recovery I said yes and it grabbed the file on its own from the site and installed revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
So for those that are a little worried about trying this I have to say it was much easier than I thought it would be. Well that my story and thank you to team Revolutionary!!!!!
Edit
Also special thanks to Gene Poole for the 2.2 flash update zip he made.

[Q] HTC Sensation rebooting after root

Hi all, I am sorry if this is already posted or answered but I spent all day yesterday searching and reading and cannot find the answer.
I have 2 Htc sensations that I messed up some how and would be very grateful if you could help me with them.
Phone 1 has been rooted for a long time and in preparation for ICS I flashed T-mobil: Download 3.32 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
and now the phone works but it will randomly reboot. I have wiped the cache, delvak cache and battery stats.
I am completely lost please help.
Phone 2 I think I may have messed up real bad here is what I did to it.
I rotted it from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I got to step 2 sub step 6 and now it continuously reboots it starts with the white screen with HTC on it then goes to another white screen that says HTC Quietly brilliant for a second and repeats.
Please help me yes I am a noob and grateful for any help.
Wow that was a fun ride (not really) it appears I did not flash the PG58IMG file correctly, after I flashed it correctly I got Insert Coin installed and so far it seems that they both are working. only time will tell.
Thanks anyway guys.

If you are trying to install the latest firmware and having the HTC log restart problem. Try to super wipe on the recovery and install first the 3.12 firmware.

I have tried vlingo from the market and this fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133246
but nothing has worked. is it just not working in Insert Coin rom?
Did I just brick my phone?
I tried to flash the 1.17 firmware and the last step failed, now it wont boot at all just a black screen the only thing it will do is the charge lite will come on bit it stays on after I unplug it.
which of the 2 phones you are talking about?
In a previous post you said that problem was solved, now what?
Also, it would be better to know what your bootloader says and what you were attempting to do before black screen.

Sounds like a brick to me, but since the problem is unclear, it's possible to fix. I wish I could help but I don't understand your issue to be honest!
I had 3.32 on it with Insert Coin ICS and thought I have 2 so might as well restore one to factory setting that's when I tried to flash the 1.17 and it never started again.
T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G
The other one is working so I am not messing with it.
I had the same thing happen to me and it was over for the phone. Took it in to tomo and told them it died and after I charged it and went to turn it on, bam, went black and never came back. They never got it to work either and replaced it for me
You mean 1.17 is the hboot?
In this case you installed a hboot for GB while on ICS rom. Obviously it won't work.
If you want to downgrade to GB you can try to run a GB RUU while in bootloader - fastboot usb (if you can still reach it)

Sorry for flooding this Forum with something basic as this but as a mere mortal I don't possess the mental capacity nor stamina to crash course my way in to this whole developers battleground.
I got a HTC ONE S that had been unlocked( I think) and when stupid me tried to do a system update (uncustomed to the way of the android as a convert apple-noob:silly I updated the phone with some kind of CID package which immediately sent the HTC in to the dreadded:
"This build is for development purposes only 20second loop of doom"
so after hours of studying this ancient language of boots, CID, builds, and alien laungage mumbo I havn't even been able to get the USB fastboot to work.
thusly I admit defeat and beg and plead to ye ascent beings only know as developers to make a complete noob-proof course of action how to tackle this peculiar problem.
so can anyone please make a step by step guid of what to download, how to install, where to get it and what to do That'd beeee swell.:highfive:
also I'll be going away so may not answer until sunday
any takers on helping me solve this riddle?
Welcome to the world of bricking and screwing up. This is not like Apple jailbreaking where you press one button on a website and it works.
This is pain and suffering. I would try and run an RUU to get the phone to stock. There are tons of threads on how to run an RUU. If the phone is not S-OFF, you will have to relock boot loader to run the RUU.

alright cheers, pretty sure it's S-ON and despite not knowing anything you just said at least it's something.
I also assume I'll need USB fastboot for this so I guess I'll start by trying to get that working
Anyone else care to explain the steps to take in greater detail? This was not a failed attempt at jailbreaking it was purely accidental so I have no experience doing this
Edit: I might add I suck at searching through forums aswell (especially when I don't know what I'm looking for) so maybe just a link to the proper threads would help me loads

To get back to stock, you run an RUU (ROM update utility). Here is a thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678700
I guess it's similar to running iTunes and pressing the restore button - but more involved.
not sure if I have a custom recovery but either way I couldn't flash the recovery.img and the RUU I ran didn't work (it was the same RUU that was installed on the phone)
Phone is S-ON
hboot 2.15.0000
open dps v31.1.0.45.0815
eMMc-boot
RUU_Ville_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.16.401.8_Radio_1.11.50.05.28_10.27.50.08L_release_301814_signed_2_4

Did you relock the boot loader before running RUU?

cannot open "Unlock_code.bin" :/
tried everything... changing the directive in cmd to match the location of the bin file but nothing works
adb can't find my device but fastboot can which could be why the RUU nor unlocking bootloader won't work and to get adb to work I need to enable USB debugging which can't be done while the phone is looping (unless some1 knows the right command line)
I am retarded
since I got this phone second hand I didn't know what had been done with it other than what I installed to cause my problems...
one of the things that had been done previously was unlocking bootloader.. hence the very obvious "Unlocked" in the boot menu.... sooo unlocking an unlocked bootloader was kinda redundant
tried oem locking the boot b4 but missed to specify where the files where (C:adb), lock worked and RUU installed without a hing!
thanks for your help if I knew what I was doing your instructions would have worked perfectly!
Alright!!!!!! Well, you are set!
So..... now that's it's back to stock. Are you going to use it as-is? Or are you planning to try a custom ROM again?
Try booting into the boot loader by shutting off the phone, then pressing volume down while pressing power. If it doesn't go to boot loader, then press and hold power for something like 10 seconds until the phone shuts off, then press volume down, and power again. Keep holding volume down until you get the boot loader menu.
Write down what it says about your HBOOT and whether you are S-OFF or S-ON.
DO NOT CHOOSE ANY COMMANDS FOR NOW
Press and hold power until the phone turns off again when you are done. Then press power again to turn the phone on again after a few seconds to use your phone regularly.

OK take your time and when you are ready, PM me. I really do suggest CandyKat if you go for a custom ROM. It is the best ROM I have used on the ONE S. CM11 was ok for me, but for some reason CandyKat is just running so much better.
