BACKGROUND
Hi,
more than 6 years ago (I was 18 to that time) I developed my first Android app which happened to be a blood alcohol calculator, because to that time I personally saw the need for a proper app for that matter, LOL (I'm a German, you know...). This project has grown over the while, and after I've had quite a long pause from working on this project (more than two years), I now refocused on it and brought my app into the year 2018.
AlcDroid is more or less popular in Germany, occasionally getting name-dropped in some German articles from newspaper media or whatever, especially now when it comes to Christmas and New Year and everybody's about to drink a ****-ton of alcohol. And even though Germany is not the only place where there's party at Christmas and New Year and stuff, it is less popular in other parts of the world though, so I would love to read what for example the English-speaking community has to say. This may sound a bit naive, since an alcohol testing app might be considered as rather simple and universal, but there are some things I do not know too much about, like units (fluid ounces and stuff), and while I have implemented those features in theory, I am not too confident about how they turn out in "real life".
So let's get to the fancy part of feature lists, download links and landing pages.
FEATURES
* intuitive, slick interface following Material Design guidelines
* day / night mode (dark and light theme)
* notification widget
* line chart showing blood alcohol content metabolism
* detailed stats (weeks, months, years)
* takes many individual factors like age, gender, height and weight into account
* supports presets for a fast and intuitive usage
* can be used immediately, no lengthy configuration needed
* supports different units in size, weight, drink volume etc.
* drinking history (keep earlier dates)
DOWNLOAD
* Find AlcDroid Alcohol Tester on Google Play.
* Find the app website here.

Cool! Gonna try this out today

Looks great!
Problem that I found is that I can't enter fractions into the percent field, and sometimes when adding drinks, the graph isn't updated, just when I try to zoom it.
Some suggestions:
The graph could be automatically sized, when changes made to the inputs, to be entirely visible, not to start in the middle, and actually see the end of it too. And it seems that the vertical axis has problems too. (after testing big values, it doesn't seem to reset to smaller scale)
On my display (SGS, 4", 480x800) the graph screen isn't displayed entirely, so it is scrollable. This way it's a little hard to pinch&zoom the graph.
Maybe moment of calculation should be movable by scrolling the graph horizontally.
The interface is nice, but could you make a dark version too? (for AMOLED screens you know)

Thanks for your replies.
I will add "fraction support" in the next version. I wanted to prevent the user from inserting higher numbers than 99 and thus limited the field to a maximum length of 2 digits - but now I also think that this is kinda unnecesarry and being able to insert fractions seems to be more important to me now as well. I can also make use of a InputFilter, though I think that this is not that relevant.
The graph yet is only vertically auto-sized (y-axis). I think of adding such a "auto-sizing"-function to the x-axis as well. However, the graph's main task is to give a rough overview of the "time management" in AlcDroid - to inform the user where the day "starts" and "ends" and to visualize where one can add drinks.
When adding big values the y-scale actually should go up to a maximum of 6‰. On my device this seems to work flawlessly. Can you make a screenshot of the bug on your device?
And are you serious? You are able to scroll through and zoom into the graph? Actually I thought that I disabled those features... well, I'll have a look on it again.
Adding a dark interface shouldn't be such a big problem as well, I will think of adding this sooner or later.
Thanks again for the feedback and the suggestions!

Actually I was considering the max 6‰ of the Y axis an error. I entered a vast amount of alcohol for testing. The calculated value went up to 32.72‰, but the maximum of the curve was still at 6. As it does on your screenshot as well. But I guess that's not a real use case Considering that according to the description, even 4 can cause death.
And yepp, although it's extra hard because the scrolling of the whole layout, I can zoom vertically and horizontally too. Scrolling was only a suggestion.

I finally could motivate myself to continue working on AlcDroid again. You can now enter float values into the percent fields. And I added a dark design, though this was maybe the most unnecessary feature to add. Maybe TotalD3str4ct can check out out himself if he even reads this. I also fixed a few small bugs and added a new button.
I think I am now going to continue working on this app more frequently again. There are still quite a few things to do.

I made a huuuuuge update today. Check it out. I hope, there are not many bugs left. If so, please help me find them.

Push. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Dark theme is a necessity to me. I try not to touch apps that don't have one. Plus in the club, the dimmer the screen, the better.

I made a mini update yesterday. Fixed a small bug, improved a few things and finally made a paid ad-free pro version for AlcDroid.
Check it out if you are interested: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.felixheller.alcdroid.pro

Dark theme now available. Test it now.
(Graphic bug from the delete button corners is a Android problem which is fixed since Android 3.0.)

Did a (quite huge) update again.
What's new:
- more accurate: new settings making BAC calculation much more accurate (start time, end time, absorption delay)
- more than one day support: archive and review your drinking history
- more information: see some detailed stats about your drinking history
- more beautiful: improved dark theme
- more up-to-date: notification bar widget
... and more.
Take a look at the new dark theme directly compared to the old from above:
Check it out!

DESCRIPTION
The game of life is actually a cellular automaton devised by the mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970.
It's sort of a virtual world where many cells are living.
They reproduce and die under certain conditions.
This game does not need the player itself (kind of zero-player game), but we can make it more interactive by adding special patterns that will evolve in specific ways, or by changing the rules of the world, for instance.
The main features of my implementation are:
¤ Play / Pause / Reset / Random Buttons
¤ Changing the speed
¤ Changing the size of the world
¤ The world is shaped like a torus
¤ Changing the color:
- United
- Random
- Gradient
¤ Changing the shape of cells (11 available)
¤ Become master of the world by changing the rules:
- 12 predefined rules
- Create your own rules
¤ Library patterns (over 50):
- Oscillators
- Ships
- Guns
- Space fillers
- Other
¤ Possibility of sending patterns by email
¤ Create life or destroy it, simply by touching the screen!
For any bug, suggestion or information contact me at:

NOTE:
- Available in French and English
- Compatible with all screens
- Compatible with all android versions

Awesome idea. Just read about this game of life in a Stephen Hawkings book.
Hahaha, I just had an idea:
What about a live wallpaper? You might have to make it look nicer and less dominant, but it would be fun and kinda nerdy, if you always had those "organisms" reproducing in the background

You're not the first to tell me that.
I will start creating a live Wallpaper.
But what do you mean about "make it look nicer and less dominant" ?
I love Game Of Life.I even made a (newbie) javascript version of it... Thx for the great app! The Live Wallpaper idea is actually pretty nice. If you do it, I'll surely give it a try.
Well, right now, I would not want it as my wallpaper. It looks nice as an app, but a wallpaper should be more "beautiful" and/or simple. After all, it is supposed to be the background.
Imagine your app design with other widgets and icons over it, the whole screen would look quite overloaded. Do you get what I mean? (english ain't my native language )
But you could keep the mechanism of the app for customizing the colours and so on.
I don't even know if I would actually use it. Depends on how it will look. So, if you got other stuff to do, do that first. The wallpaper is not really a high priority for me. I just like the app and the idea itself.
Over all the game play is not much attractive but still its fine. 6/10

I do not quite understand... Customization of the background and the cells color is already available on the app'...
thanks a lot for this app'.
When would you release the LiveWallpaper ?
I'm so excited
Be patient
I'm developping it.
But it will last at least 2weeks...
Tell me what kind of feature you would like to have on this wallpaper (new features of course) or anything else.
Haha, love!! I had to program a version of this myself in my first year at university and had forgotten all about it! As others have said, would be a pretty good idea as a Live Wallpaper but would obviously need some sort of loop on there incase all the cells died or just became stable blocks... otherwise it could quickly become a rather dull wallpaper
Don't worry.
A shake or a tap will randomize or add living cells

lol whats the battery usage?
I like the concept. I installed the wallpaper and I will use it and see how the battery is affected if at all on my evo.
Would be nice of we could select any image as the wallpaper background. Could even go crazy with the customization by reordering things, different colors for each data set...weather option maybe.
Great work!! I look forward to seeing how this grows.

Seems to work okay....however it doesn't scale properly on my Dell Streak.
Only uses 3/4 of the screen vertically.
Width is fine.

Cool wall paper thanks. I would like to be able to select the size of the battery gauge and the clock. I don't think time at a location is very useful to me. Seconds on the clock would be a cool option too.
Looks very good!
Have you run some tests of battery drain?
It would be great if we could customize the emphasis of each category. I guess a lot of people would prefer to have a bigger time and smaller battery level.

Hello,
first i want to thank you for all your feedback. I am very happy about.
- Currently I have uploaded two different versions to the market. One free version and a 1 $ version which adds the feature of selecting an image of your own gallery.
- Regarding Dell Streak's display size I will do some research and try to fix soon.
- Battery usage: This was one of my primary goals when developing the wallpaper. Often this was the cause, I have removed a live wallpaper in the past and changed back to a standard image again. As you can see all the values are updated when you turn on the screen. When the display is turned off, the app will unregister from all broadcast receivers to sleep all the night without getting disturbed (wakeup) by any OS notification. Repaint calls were optimized. I cant ensure that it is perfect, but I spent some effort on this already. (My N1 with Cyanogen is providing me nice statistics about CPU/Battery usage)
Once again I am glad, if the app is being used and some people out there like it.

I apologize I didn't even see the paid version in the market, so I didn't know of the custom image feature.
I must say, I didn't notice any significant battery usage while the screen was off, certainly no change when the screen is sleeping, so it looks like that is working just fine.
Keep up the good work.

Hi BlackCube.
The app has 15 categories and 6 subcategories for each category. The categories are fixed, because they have their own icon, color, etc. But you can add self-defined subcategories to them.
Categories are fixed but many, so pick up virtually the full range of entries that can be included. With the prefixed subcategories and custom subcategories you can add, giving a total of 180 possibilities to assign an entry.
You always can test the (free) Lite version. It has a help screen (simple, the app is so intuitive) and the same features as the full version, but with ads and some limitations on the number of entries you can enter.
All I see is a monthly budget option. I'm an hourly wage worker and get paid weekly. Hours vary week to week, so I never have a constant amount on my check. Any plans to include weekly pay?

Interesting idea. I pointed it to a next version.
Meanwhile, you can always add the amount of the new week within the current month budget you already have.
But I will try to implement this option for the new version, but how I said, actual version is perfectly functional acting like I said (add the new amount to the month budget every week).

When I press > I saw 6 of them being "....", I couldn't edit or anything. Am I on the wrong track?
Click to collapse
First, select a category (press the button with name "Auto" or "Groceries" or any of them, even "General"). After select a category, you can select a subcategory from one of the six that appears bottom. If you make a long tap on the sixth subcategory (the one with the "[+]" at the end), you can set 6 self-defined subcategories for that category you have selected). To move between the six pre-defined subcategories and your six self-defined subcategories for that category, use the buttons with ">" value.
The self-definen subcategories are associated to the active category you have selected previously.
You have a "Help" screen if you press menu button of your mobile.
So far I like the interface a lot. I found a quirk in the bar graph though. On the days at the bottom, if you keep scrolling forward, the days just keep counting up. There's no month separation.
If that could be added along with the weekly, this app would be amazing.

If I say you the truth, I don't know that graphs have scroll !!
I use aChartEngine for this app, and really I didn't know graphs have scroll until you said it to me. XD
I will do anything with this, because I don't like this scroll, he he. Anyway, the numbers at the bottom in bar graph are not days, are months. Number "12" is actual month and number "1" is twelve months ago. This graph shows total amounts for each category in the last twelve months. The scroll is useless here. I will try to remove the scroll in the next version.
I have updated Lite version. Now the graphs have not scroll
Full version will be updated soon (I'm developing a widget for full version). This is the reason it has not been updated with Lite version.
Come on! Give it a try!
Downloaded and updated. My graph still scrolls though.

It is rare. On my phone and the emulator graphs do not scroll. Are you using Money Saver Lite 1.51?
On Money Saver (full) 1.50 graphs still scroll, because I'm developing a widget for full version and I still have not update it. When I finish the widget I will update full version with no graph scroll.
Yes, on 1.51. I uninstalled and reinstalled from the market and it still scrolls. I have an HTC EVO 3d, if that helps.

Wow, great phone. It has not be launched in Europe yet.
Yes, I have checked what you said. The donuts graphs not scroll, and bar graphs without data neither. Only bar graphs with data still scroll, but it appears to be a bug from aChartEngine library. We have to wait they fix it.
It is available Money Saver (full) v 1.51 with those graphs without scroll and with the widget!

Hey,
I am proud to present my second app to a wider Audience! Since about two monts my App is now in the Play Store, but with my newest Version I dare to publish it here It would be absolutely amazing if you could test my App and tell me whats wrong and what else to implement. Even more amazing would be if you could post your created Light Paintings here! As it turned out I am a better Programmer than Photograph...
Cheers

Hello Everyone,
I am happy to announce Version 0.5.0! Have Fun with it!
You can find it in the Play Store in a few hours, or you can sideload it now!
Cheers
KobiP
Hi!
I uploaded the BugFix Version 0.5.1. The APK I was installing with Eclipse worked fine, the APK that I exported and send to Play Store / Google Drive not. This should be solved now.
Cheers
Hello,
I am moving quickly towards the first Version that could be called "stable". This time I removed two Bugs: the first made the RGB color gradient to be executed as HSV. The second Bug was introduced in v0.5, it caused all color gradients to run for 5s, no matter what you applied.
I also Improved the UI: You can find now the Refresh Rate and Number of Lines on the Main Screen, not hidden in the Settings. Just press the new More Options Button. In the Settings you can find now a new Option that lets your Phone Vibrate when the color gradient is finished.
Cheers,
KobiP
Hello,
wow, more than two years later I have a new Version of the Light Painting Helper! This time it is a mayor rewrite of the App to get Material Design, Fractions, new Icon, ...
Much more of a maintenance release than new Features.
Tell me what you think!
Cheers
Hello,
another week, another update. This time just a small bugfix, when closing displaying a single color the app crashed.
Cheers
I've been using Light Painting Helper lately. Of all of the apps on the Play store, it's the only one that seems to work, so I thought I'd offer encouragement.
The use of the orientation sensor to 'pause' the pattern is really amazingly handy. My E-M5 Mk II has a "Live Time" mode so I can see the exposure take form on the iPad, while I use my Moto X to run your app. So, first I start your app, point the phone face-down, then I trigger the shutter, then I get in position to paint.
The 'lines' pattern tends to make for the most interesting texture.
I'd post a URL but I can't because anti-spam.
Hi. Just installed and know how to use it. Very helpfull app, I am wondering if you can add option for enter tekst that could be displayed as floating letters, like you observe it behind aperture. And moving phone will create hanging tekst when you capture it with camera with light painting option.

Sorry, what? You get it in Play Store and in the second post you find the APK to Sideload.
Well, ok, i can fully understand you, what about position of tekst at screen? Is too low and bottom half is cut.
And also - it`s too slow - i dont see option to speed it up.
And - great work! Keep it going. If this app cost about $1 i would buy it - if it works perfectly. Sometimes it crashes when i choose second option.

Hi guys!
I have used a lot of calculator apps on Google Play Store, tried many of them, also uninstalled many of them mostly because they contain annoying or intrusive ads. Some of them do not meet my expectation, bad user interface or user experience... I'm using two different calculators: one of them has a great style, great interface with custom backgrounds (but lacks of functionality), and the other with lots of sub-calculators (but its interface is just okay). And more important, they contain ads, which may seem annoy many people. So I think, maybe I can develop something with user-first in mind (I used to be a user ), no more ads, update more regularly, with a great interface.
★ Carefully crafted interface without any annoying ads! Just try CalcPP (Calc++) and you will love it!
★ Packed with 10+ calculators
★ Customizes color schemes and background images from the collection!
★ Active development! If you find any bugs or issues, or want to recommend any features, just let us know. We are really appreciate for your helps to improve CalcPP (Calc++) calculator.
★ Localization: If you want to translate, let us know! We will add new languages in the next releases.
I hope it will make your life easier, happier and more productive. I have used it a lots, but if you find any issues or any recommendations, please comment below, I will fix it ASAP.
You can get it from Google Play Store:

My bad, I didn't expect having name with double plus sign makes it harder to find on Google Play Store. Maybe I should change it to something more searchable. Currently, you can access through this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thgdev.calc
Now you can search on Play Store with term "CalcPP" and it will be displayed!
You can know search for Calc++ with term "CalcPP" on Play Store and it will show up! Sorry for the inconvenience.
Tested!
It has cool things but the Scientific calculator is not in the app
mind providing the reason for the "Full network access" permission and "In-app purchases"?
thx..

Thanks! I just wonder, what exactly do you want from scientific calculator, so I can implement it in the next updates?
Right now, I checked some scientific calculators online and CalcPP Standard Mode already has their functions.

Thank you. If you scroll down to PERMISSION REQUIRED section, you can see I already noted it on Play Store official page and I explained every permission this app requires. They are:
PERMISSION REQUIRED
• Internet access: In-app purchase and money exchange rates update
• Billing: In-app purchase
And about In-app purchases, I also wrote it here:
★ Customizes color schemes and background images from our collection! (Only available after purchased)
Nice calculator
Very impressive works.

Hi, thank you for trying my app. I just checked health calculator and everything worked fine. You need to input your height in meter (maybe instead of typing 1.8 (m), you typed 180 (cm)) (I will change it to cm in the next update) and weight and press Calculate.

OK thanks for the clarifications. Another observation is the result definition of BMI. I played around the weight data by increasing it incrementally and noticed that the sequence seems to be confusing?
underweight> healthy>extremely obese>overweight>moderate obese

Example
Height - 1.7m
Age - 30
Male
Weight - 71 will give you healthy, 72 will be extremely obese, 73 will be overweight, 90 will be moderate obese, 120 will be extremely obese.
Botj 72kg and 120kg are classified as extremely obese. Also the sequence seems to be off as well. It should be under weight, healthy, overweight, moderate obese and lastly extremely obese?

OMG, thank you so much! It was number precision error. 72 is really weird. The sequence was as identical as your suggestion, but there were some cases the results were defective.
