Unlocking from 1.85? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I had a question...
So I've been rooted on both 1.73 and 1.82 but now I'm running completely stock 1.85 (for the new radios) and I've never unlocked my boot loader.
Can I unlock?

you are going to have to search the threads first.....then after that, downgrade to 1.82 then root then unlock then relock then upgrade back to 1.85 then unlock then root....if this fails...search

So will everything be based off 1.85 now?

Im on Rogers and im not sure how that will work. Im seeing all the new roms/mods based off 1.85.
Do i need to upgrade to 1.85 from 1.73? How do i go about doing so with the Rogers phone? Im already unlocked/rooted. Thx
Isn't root currently broken for 1.85?

not for me, i'm on 1.85 and rooted with an unlocked bootloader. in summary, the method i used was (a) applied SuperCID as the Device ID and unlocked, then relocked bootloader, (b) flashed the 1.85 RUU, unlocked the bootloader (again), installed CWM recovery, flashed the SU (superuser.apk) and now i'm on rooted on 1.85.

Rogers att ruu

Got a rogers one x . Can i flash the 1.85 att ruu so i can use the custom roms or do i have to wait untill s-off?
Thanks
Good question. I believe you'd have to change your cid to the ATT, relock the bootloader, then flash the 1.85 ATT RUU then unlock it again. Dont quote me though

[Q] How update to 1.85

Im on 1.82 rooted/unlocked, but i wanna update to 1.85ruu so my question is, how can i update and keep my device rooted? I don't want to take any risk with the new 1.85 one click root...
You need to read more. This information is easily available in other threads. You don't need to use the one-click root to update to 1.85 if you already have bootloader unlock. Just relock bootloader, run RUU. Re-unlock, then install CWM and flash SuperSU from CWM. You will then be on 1.85 and rooted.

A question...

So my onex is unlocked and supercid. But I installed the ota. My cid is still 111111 and my bootloader is unlocked. Is there any way to install recovery and root?

Can you get to bootloader?
If so, it's just a matter of fastboot flash recovery [filename], then copy over a rooted rom and flash.

How to update from 1.85 to 2.20?

I have my phone rooted since the first days of having it.
Never taken OTA update so it's still on 1.85 and it's unlocked but S-ON.
Has TWRP 2.4.3.0 and custom kernel and ROM.
Wanted to try some new roms that require new 2.20 and S-OFF.
Found a method to root 2.20 and get S-OFF, but my question now is how to safely upgrade from my existing condition 1.85/S-ON to 2.20?
Thanks
Why don't you just s-off, then RUU to 3.18, flash TWRP 2.3.3.1, downgrade touchscreen firmware, and then you can flash whatever you want.

Agree. Just S-off now, then run the 3.18 RUU.
If you are on 1.85, 2.20 is just an obsolete and unnecessary middle step, at this point.
Thanks to you both. Would you point me to see off procedure for 1.85?
Or it is the same as for 2. 20?
Thanks again

Soff is the same regardless of software version. There's a sticky in the original android development section.
