[Q] wipe data on rooted and rom'd 3g xoom? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am selling my 3g xoom rooted and rom'd with EOS 2.0. I need to wipe my data and keep the rom. I think I do this in cwm? Please advise.

1. take out your flash drive
2. delete all your userdata under /mnt/sdcard
3. press power button, select Reboot -> Recovery
device now reboots in recovery mode
4. select wipe data/factory reset
thats all.

I didn't get this msg in time. I ended up rerooting and that finally worked. However, when I tried to just use the wipe data/factory reseting cwm, I received the following error msgs. Posse see attatched photo. I sure would like to know what it means.

[Q] LG Optimus V stuck in android system recovery

i was running CM7 then i went back to stock and it kept saying my memory was getting low so i went to settings>privacy>factory data reset. then now it wont come out of android system recovery with any rom or anything! PLEASE HELP!!
if i were you i would just load another custom rom:
1. in recovery, wipe data, cache, dalvik cache
2. connect your phone to your computer
3. download a custom rom on your computer and transfer it to your phone (by enabling usbms toggle)
4. flash the rom
ok i did that and it didnt work, said it installed successfully then i went to reboot system now and just went back in android system recovery.
Do it again and again and again until it works. Which recovery are you using and which rom? Btw, I guess you now know why they say not to use the inphone factory reset on the phone. May want to check in the ov forum instead of the general forums

samsung infuse: com.android.phone has stopped

I am new to android and yesterday I accidentally clicked the red download button when I held the power button down. Then a black screen with yellow text came up and said "don't power off the target!!" I left the phone on for about 30 minutes, but the battery died. Now when I power up the device I get the message com.android.phone has stopped working. I also tried a factory reset but it didn't fix anything. The device is rooted, I checked using the root checker app (i bought the phone from someone). How can I fix this? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
Try pulling the battery for 10 minutes or so. Do you know what ROM you are running? Only other thing I can think to try is trying to boot into CWM and wiping cache and dalvik. The usually fixes a lot of my issues.

After wiping Dalvik/cache, go into Advanced, and select Fix Permissions, just to cover all of the simple bases. If none of that works, you may have to Heimdall/Odin back to stock and start all over again.
I got into CWM, but there is no option for advanced. There are 4 options: reboot system now, apply update from SD card, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition. There are no other options. Maybe I have an older version of CWM, on the top it says Android system recovery <3e>
Is the wipe cache partition what i have to click to wipe cache. Thanks for the help.

Yes...wipe cache partition to wipe cache.
And it does appear like you have the old 3e Modded Recovery. I forget the version numbers but the CWM recoveries: commonly referred to as green, red and blue, will give you other options including Advanced as mentioned above

If you plan on doing any serious flashing, I'd think you'd want to upgrade to Red CWM. Here's a thread that tells you how.
I'd recommend Method 1:

[Q] stuck in fastboot Help

i have rooted my phone with gingerbreak and wanted to install gingersnap rom. i followed this methood http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197991 and my phone is stuck in fastboot now.... i am able to press home+voldown+power button to go into clockwork recovery i think thats what its called and pretty much nothing else please help im new to this stuff
Go into the recovery, then use the volume keys to navigate around and either the search button or the menu button will select things depending on the version you're using. Once you're there, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then reboot it. The boot will take a long time, if after five minutes it's still trying to boot, then go back into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then install a rom like gingersnap. If after another five minutes that isn't working, boot into recovery again do a factory reset (this will wipe all of your apps, contacts, calendar entries etc), wipe system, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache (do not wipe sd card or external storage) then install a rom like gingersnap and see if it boots up.
thanks for trying to help but none of that helped i dont really know how to install/flash a rom but i looked around a bit and found that i made a backup before i tryed to flash it so thanks
Watch the videos about installation of custom rom for Android (LG P500) !!
Me too learned from that videos!
Now using OXYGEN ROM!

[Q] Issues Restoring Phone Post-Root Soft Brick

I rooted my Verizon Galaxy S6 via ping-pong root. Then downloaded flashify followed by the Revolution Rom. Flashed the revolution rom! All is still well...
I then went into Titanium backup in hopes to restore my messages/etc so I did restore "all apps with data", but only selected data. Once it finished, it told me to reboot, to which I now face a never-ending text box of "unfortunately, system ui has stopped"....
I'm now in Odin mode (?) with a teal-ish screen which says "downloading... do not turn off target" for the past 10 minutes and none of the buttons are working...
somehow got myself to the android system recovery page...
as of right now my options are to:
reboot system now
apply update from ABD
apply update from external storage
apply update from cache wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition reboot to bootloader
power down
view recovery logs
Next steps?

Either reboot and enter Odin mode again or try apply update from cache wipe data/factory reset.

[Completed] Sgh-i337 no wifi?

Hello. A year ago I bought an unlocked SGH-I337 which is the Galaxy S4, ATT unlocked. When I first got it, it had this Samsung Custom boot and it also was manufactured refurbished. After using it, I rooted it using towel root. I was on Kit Kat 4.4.2 and I saw a post where you have to first something through odin to let towelroot work. I rooted it, wifi worked fine after I put the kernel on. Now I tried to install CWM (I think) and I tried installing a rom which said it was to work with my phone. I wiped cache and everything. And it went through and nothing changed. I was back to my normal phone, with root but the wifi button is not working. Before I flashed the kernel it would go to green and get stuck, now after I tried to install a rom, the wifi wont turn on at all as in the button flicks back to the off position. I have the SGH-I337, unlocked att, I unrooted it, I reset it, nothing changed (ie. batter out, calling *#0010* and something like that). This is in the UCUFNi1 running 4.4.2. PLease help me! Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
If you installed CWM and then flashed a custom ROM with CWM did you do the wipes after flashing the ROM?
If you don't know what that is just boot to recovery, in CWM choose the "wipe data/factory reset", confirm the choice and let it wipe, then choose the " wipe cache" option, confirm the wipe and let it wipe, then choose the "advanced" option, in the advanced menu choose "wipe dalvik cache", confirm the wipe, let it wipe, after that go back to main menu and select the reboot to system option and let your phone reboot and set it all up again then see if WiFi works. Backup any apps and their app data that you want to keep before factory resting in recovery, it deletes your user installed apps and leaves only system apps, your pics and other stuff on internal will be safe, you won't need to back those up anywhere, only the apps and app data get wiped with factory reset in CWM. When it reboots install the backed apps and their data and you'll be back where you are.
