ICS Rom - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hello. I'm currently running Miui 112160. And my mom's LG Sensation JUST got the ICS upgrade(4.0.3) and I'm like...WTFFFF!!! lol and I'm wondering if there is a stable ICS Rom out yet? If there isn't I would LOVE to know a form that I can watch...or subscribe to.get emails from to know when a stable ICS Rom is released. I would love for any feedback on this. ALSO If there isn't a stable Rom out yet I would love to know your FAVORITE ICS Rom. Meaning it runs the best. Hardly any glitches. And would use as a full-time Rom. THX!

Eagles Blood 4.04 is a pretty stable ROM. Also Owains ROM is pretty cool combined with harsh kernel.
If I helped you push the thanks button for goodness sakes!

Define "stable". If you mean smooth and speedy, there's a couple of them out there. Just have to try different ones out for what works best for you.
If you're looking for a fully functional one, don't hold your breath. It's unlikely that we'll see any significant updates or drivers from LG any time soon (if ever).

I'm liking Eagles Blood AOSP ICS 4.04...
But seems lie some of the bugs kinda ironed themselves out. A little weird.
These are the issues I have.
Voicemail notification is not working for me (although missed call is)
I was not getting my Gmail notifications, seems fine now after turning airplane mode on/off.
Video Camera doesn't work (known issue, thanks to NVidia)
Getting a SIM Error not being recognized (but I can make calls and do all the normal stuff)
In the beginning, EBLauncher crashed often, once 3 times in a row that required a battery pull, it has not done it since.
This build is smooth, fast and IMO looks great and getting over 24hrs on battery but keep in mind we are all different users!!

Why flash roms?

So I was just wondering why would we flash roms? I mean the current stock os is almost bug free + when flashing roms we are faced with some major bugs sometimes.
I know that we would have the choice to remove bloatware, cutomise status bar, and sometime oc. That's all nice but still I don't see why not leave it as is?
Please excuse my ignorance. I just came from a rooted Dinc w/ miui
And I wanna have a better understanding.
Thanks

For me it's the freedom to do with my phone what I want. These developers kick out some sweet features that we'll never see from a stock ROM, and they get us the latest software before the manufacturers. I bug here or there is well worth it for me, and if it's to bad you can always revert. If you prefer the stock experience, than by all means leave it alone. But me, I'm a tinkerer. Be it a car, truck, bike... or yes, even a phone, I can't leave well enough alone.
Because we can
To pick up chicks......I haven't met one yet that's not turned on by 48+ mflops!
Can't do that with stock.....
This might seem like an odd answer... I flash so I can have a standard interface on my phones. I've had a droid, droid x, and thunderbolt in the last year and a half (my company does some android development on in house apps for one of our clients, and we go through a lot of test phones). having something close to a stock interface minimizes the daily annoyances of moving between those phones.... which is why I use the aosp roms.

Wait, you came from a phone that you rooted and flashed MIUI on, but don't understand why others choose to not stay stock
Why??? that's not the correct question. The correct question is why not!

I love MIUI but with ICS buzz, I'm going with CM7 and a ICS theme.
MIUI got too buggy for me. I haven't tried the new updates in fear I will love it too much.
LG G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Asus Transformer - 3.7 Revolver OC/UV
CM7, only because MIUI on the G2x isn't exactly the most stable. I was spoiled with the MIUI on the MT4G, thing was a beast and never had any bugs.
The MIUI on the G2x is good for the most part, but gets slow and has bugs here and there that bothers me so I'm happy with CM7.
I use Miui now and it seems pretty stable. I choose miui because it just looks really nice and runs soo smoooth.
--> Miui and Cm7 are both very good roms.. you should try out both to see what's best for you.

Depends on what CM version you use. You also need to properly factory reset your phone, clear caches, etc because CM7 is a different beast entirely. Coming from other roms, especially stock roms such as Weapon, it is especially important to do the proper flashing techniques or you WILL run into problems.
That said, MIUI should be better now. I dropped off months ago when only Whitehawk was developing for it (aka just porting the latest version). Now we actually have devs focusing on MIUI for the G2x and trying to work out the kinks. It should be much better now.
MIUI isn't as compatible as CM7 with apps and such. More apps will not work on MIUI vs Stock or CM7. Most do, but this is something to expect if you run MIUI and your favorite app won't launch.
I had too much fun with MIUI though. Always changing my lockscreen type, always themeing, changing this and that. Gets addicting.
MIUI is different and most people get turned off by the iPhone-like launcher. But throw ADW EX or Go Launcher and you'll love it.

I started with a Cm7 rom and ics theme and then went to miui recently. Theres an ics theme for it too.
Using the galnet ics version that whitehawk ported over. Miui is different and at first I didn't like it, but I spent a day or two with it and I grew to like it. I think I just wanted something different since ics is a ways off.

Miui
I hated Miui when I first installed it, my phone would boot loop after calls that weren't answered, random reboots throughout the day, and it was a major battery hog. That was about 3 months ago.
I have it installed now and I love it. I have no problems at all with it, save about a 1 minute warm up time for an accurate lock on gps. Coupled with Juice defender and Launcher Pro, I get all the battery I need, and an app drawer with mods that rock!
love miui. been using whitehawk builds since he started and have no problems with stability, performance, or compatibility. I prolly wont even flash ics when we finally get it because its so hard to give up the level of customization miui offers.

yup. hope current themes will be compatible or updated quickly.
miui all day with a touch of an ICS theme. The customization of MIUI is just unparalleled at this point. The ONLY bug with the current build of MIUI that urked me was when you connect your phone via usb to a pc it sometimes freezes/randomly reboots. But with wifi explorer this issue is easily bypassed. All in all i still love it

are you saying that will be on the G2X today? just confused, but if so I'm backing my phone up now lol.
Probably means "one day". I know MIUI was already using some of the ICS source files but since they are based off CM7 kernel, one would think CM9 would have to be out first.
EDIT
Looks like pics have surfaced of MIUI running on top of ICS and the source was annouced... I don't think this means it will come out for the G2x today. Supposedly it is based off the CM9 kernel with hardware acceleration enabled.

The best ROM for my mom

My mom just got an Infuse 4G last night. She's unhappy with the stock ROM (rather, she's not liking it). Realistically I am using this opportunity to break the woman into smartphones, and the Infuse 4G is a great one with a screen that she can read (I love the look of that AMOLED, it's making me want a Samsung when it's time to upgrade).
The question is, which ROM is the most user-friendly? If you read my sig you'll see I have an Atrix 4G myself and am currently running an Alpha ROM so you'll know I am no stranger to the mod community. I just don't want to go from ROM to ROM to ROM showing her each one, wasting my entire day reflashing her phone. If anyone can come up with one or two suggestions for me to try for her, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm looking for something ICS-like, smooth as butter, and not over-the-top like some of the Atrix guys like to go. Thanks for your help!

Imho, find out what she wants out of the phone and tweak it with apps. Stick with stock froyo and avoid the grief.
Ex. Big text battery indicator to show battery. Business calendar is better than stock. Go launcher is better than stock. Show her how to put direct dial shortcut on the screen etc...show her the widgets.
Leave the rom alone because everything works.
From my experience, it's the app and how to use the phone...not the ROM
For better battery life, odin flash one of the stock gingerbread leaks and leave it. KK4 leak would be OK. KL2 is better but tw30 is messed up on it. I like the stock froyo but the battery life sucks.

See I'm attempting to throw CatyRom on it, the ICS app tray is really what I'm after. Something like that would keep it simple for her to find things without having to go through the app drawer which is what has overloaded her in the past. She absolutely refuses to use an iPhone because of this.

Hah. I thought this thread was a joke when I read the subject line.
Well at this point it we have a handful of really good stable, infuse based roms. So it's all about what color she wants really lol.
Have her take a look at the screenshots for : Zeus, Caty, Bionix, Numas, Victory rom, or infused(old one but a goodie). And pick which one is astheticaly pleasing to her.
Nah, no joke. I made some modifications that allow single-touch activation of apps/tools but other than that she seems happy with Caty. She's a blue person, so it worked in my favor.
It seems odd that someone who has had no experience with smartphones minus playing with someone's iPhone and hating it would want to jump head-long into the ROM world but she's seen the difference it made in my phone. ICS on my Atrix is great, and I am hoping that one day you guys get it running on the Infuse, it seems like a good phone and you folks seem like an intelligent bunch.
Zeus (gb rom).
Plus:
Bluetooth and wifi are working good. Good battery. GPS is good.
Minus (common to ALL gb roms):
HDMI out does not work

Which ROM should I use with my TB?

So I've been out of the whole ROM scene for a while now, I have CM7 on my TB still and it sucks pretty hard, and I'm looking to install a new rom. I mostly tether, text, and sometimes talk on the phone. I'm not that big on apps except like sports center, twitter, and facebook...usuallly don't play games. Any suggestions on where to start?
There isn't much to complain about in regards to CM7, as we don't have a whole lot of new development. Slayher's CM7 build is still my favorite T-Bolt rom in terms of speed and stability. I run a 1.6ghz OC and it's pretty snappy. Thundershed is a very popular ROM right now and is based off of the CM7.2 codebase with an ICS theme, so I would certainly check it out if you are looking for something that feels different. You'll probably want to look into various roms on your own as it's honestly opinionated with a few exceptions.
Team Liquid is also working on an ICS rom that has working Phone and SMS, but data isn't working yet(they are coding the RIL from scratch). I would keep my eye on it as the rom will probably become ready for daily use in the near future. As soon as data works, I'll probably switch over from CM7 unless there are other issues that arise with the rom.
I used to suggest to users any rom by ThunderStick, but he was a complete dbag recently on his rom thread when questioned on one of the issues the rom had. I guess because he moved to a nexus he stopped caring about the TB. I would check out the rom list (thunderbolt development forum) and go through each one. BAMF has always been high on peoples list.

Come on, you asked a question that any amount of thought or common sense should have answered for you, thunderstick and others gave you appropriate responses. Back on topic though, skyraider is great. Thundershed, jellyblur, and sfkcm7 are awesome AOSP roms and worth a look too. There's also a bunch of solid desensed roms out there. It's best to flash some roms and get to know your own tastes that way. After all, only you know what your ideal rom is.

All of them.

If you're looking for something different, Vicious and SPJester's MIUI rom works very nicely. It's easy to customize using the built in MIUI system. Everything but MMS works I believe, but the way the rom is set up is a bit strange (as there is no app drawer, sort of like IOS). Still, very solid and, having tried pretty much every tbolt rom out there, this is the one I always come back to.
Using JellyBlur v1.3 and having 0 problems so far. Been running it for awhile now without any problems and love it. Thinking about putting it on my husband's Thunderbolt as Skyraider Zues is giving him some problems.

I'm with you, personally Jellyblur 1.3 has been the best running, slickest rom I've used. I've tried Bamf, and quite a few other roms out there. This for me is going to be my daily. I'm hoping we can get ICS (but not counting on it, and the only reason I want it is so the devs can grab the RIL and do something awesome with it).

I recently went through most of the recommended ROMs (after unrooting to get the OTA radio update, doing a clean wipe, then re-rooting) and I have landed on Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester which seems to be the slickest and best-running I've seen so far. After finally mustering the courage to root I flashed CM10, and it was seamless, man. Aside from the occasional force close it was absolutely perfect. I just flashed LiquidSmooth and so far its running fairly well (keeping a backup of CM10 just in case ) It seems to me Liquid has more options for customization and has some pretty useful tools built into the ROM instead of going third party, but it just doesn't feel like it runs quite as smooth. Customization and tools, or a seamless UI, that is the question.
