HTC has told me with news of this new ds leak they are monitoring xda site and anyone installing this leak they wil know who you are by your email and they apparently will void your warranty. I asked them why they will be doing this and they said this is a clear breach of contract between them and us and anyone known to install this leak will not be able to claim warranty. they have now voided my warenty as they know my email from when my phone went in for repairs. so all I say is take off your emails in profiles.
Would you mind posting a screenshot or something? I don't doubt you or anything but I've never seen HTC say anything like this. And how can they void your warranty with an email address? It doesn't prove anything.
Please note that the update you downloaded is not an official HTC Build and you have now voided your warranty with us. We have not released this update and will not support it.
I look forward to hearing that this has resolved your enquiry, to close your email or alternatively to reply to me please follow the links below.
You will shortly receive an email asking you to submit your feedback, I would appreciate if you could take the time to let me know about the level of service I have provided you with.

I emailed them asking when the official update would be released and that's what I got back. I don't need my warrenty but I was shocked when I got this email back
In response to your PM, i'm not sure they could prove anything. If you did not use HTC-Dev then you should be able to return your phone to stock should you need to return it. If it is returned to stock how could HTC not acknowledge the warranty?

Very true I'm abit annoyed at what they told me. I've told them I never installed any ipdare. but I buy my desire s New and sealed and it already s-off from Malaysia
even if they can prove that you downloaded the rom. how can they prove that you installed it on your phone??
think you will be safe!
if htc had stuck to their original statement of releasing ICS for our device in march then we wouldnt be having to resort to using leaks in the 1st place!

They can't tell by even your phone.
I think most of the DSs here already has their warranty expired?

You're on the internet, None can harm you
Judging by the reply, I'm sure that the OP story is missing a lot of parts, and the message is far from what he posted here.
Of course, if you're writing to HTC technical support, asking for assistance and mentioning the fact that you've installed unofficial firmware, you're not really going to get any help from them.
so you told them you downloaded the leak from here :S ? and wondered when the real thing would be out? smart
anyway they can't tell anything from the email.... ok i downloaded it, i have 3 desire s's all with the same email account on do they void all three, even if they could i would protest with a smart ass argument. O and xda will willingly hand over email addresses? i think not. HTC has no claim to the use of our phone as it is open source android for a reason, yeah we void our warranty but they can't get mad at us for doing it, if it leaked go find out who leaked it from you htc and op don't mislead
Well if you bought your phone sim free then maybe your warranty is voided but in the UK i'm with vodafone and I sent my Desire S in for repair (on contract), yes it was the headphone jack that broke so its only hardware related but even though it was unlocked through htc-dev which voids your warranty I paid nothing and no one seemed to care.

Ohhhhhh, what is this Xora and how much will it cost me I wonder?
I can't quite figure it out but I think it is $16.99 a month
This is the breakdown of what Xora is, I wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole, hahaha.

Why anyone would want to buy that when HTC SENSE does it for free when you buy the phone is beyond me.
Source: http://www.slashgear.com/htc-sense-online-portal-open-for-desire-hddesire-z-users-07106331/
Quoted directly from HTC press release:
"Ever had a moment when you couldn’t locate your phone, or even left a mobile phone somewhere? HTCSense.com gives users peace of mind should this ever occur. You can easily locate a missing phone by triggering the handset to ring loudly, even if it is set to silent, or to flag its location on a map. If the phone’s been lost or stolen, users can remotely lock the phone, forward calls and texts to another phone, send a message to the phone to arrange its return or even remotely wipe all personal data from it."
This Xora scheme and not offering Unlimited Data is whats killing the company, when will they wake up and realize this?
Iphone isnt the end of the world but its the other 'In' device other than Android phones of course so why not bring back at least unlimited data to prevent people from jumping ship to another carrier?
Its funny, a few days ago I threatened to cancel and they said they couldn't give it to me because I never had it in the first place and to contact corporate.
Why iPhone users are granted exclusivity to that feature is phonecist as well, hahaha. Yeah I know I made up a word.
Anybody figure out how to order off premier and NOT get the Xora crap ?
its $99.99 new or upgrade plan without xora... if it wont let you do it online just go in to the store.
I just got mine for 69.99 at the att store locally. They will price match the website, dont let them say they wont. Also no zora either. 75$ and sum change out the door.
You can also call ATT Premier Services and speak with them directly.
Got my Inspire for 49.99 because I *****ed about " not beign able to order online " due to some glitch with there website.
Been a customer with ATT / Cingular for 8 years now. They may seem like they don't care but trust me, if the first person you talk to gives you ****, just request to speak with a manager and have them pull some strings.
49.99 with no activation fee.. great deal
What glitch were you getting exactly? I'm thinking of calling later and trying to get a deal.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. I do eCare for a cable/internet/phone provider in Canada and we can be crafty with our words when we need to.
The way I'm interpreting things is that they ship locked devices and can add support later for certain carriers. He did NOT however specify that they WOULD add support for AT&T. If he were able to, he would have tried clarifying that definitively as to satisfy the customer's question and close contact.
Carriers have many confidential agreements and contingencies. I would imagine that support for unlocking AT&T devices would be contingent on the terms that they've agreed upon with HTC. And unless AT&T specifically requests unlocking support, I do not think it would be added. It would be bad for HTC to ship unlocked devices or simply add unlocking support without a carriers explicit consent.
That's the way I see things at least. Although I have a Rogers device I want to hear AT&T comment on this with a definitive response. They need to be accountable and transparent with their plans. We shouldn't need to find the answer from the vendor or another third party.
This is a better response than the other ones.

Here's my interpretation:
If they knew that they were 100% going to unlock it, I believe that they would say so. There is no point to not doing so, especially after feeling all of the pressure about it.
They can/want to unlock it, thus keeping their word. However are waiting for the "OK" from AT&T to do so.
Before I saw this post, I sent them a message asking about the unlock as well. Let's see what sort of response I get :-/

Then why would he apologize for not being able to give you a definitive response?
Their goal should be to answer your question and kill any further questions. That wouldn't quell my concerns if I had asked the question. I would have followed up and specifically asked if that means my carrier is DEFINITELY on board with this or if there were other contingencies.
I sincerely hope I'm wrong though. I hate locked bootloaders!

The easiest way to communicate that would be to apologize for not being able to divulge those details as they are part of their confidential terms and conditions with AT&T.
I've sent dozens of thousands of emails and have done the same amount of chats with customers and we are a lot more clear than that. I asked some colleagues (and fellow Android geeks) what they make of it and they said it sounds like a cop out. I hate to admit it, but someone's we get asked tough and direct questions such as "When will your PVR support XXX feature that YYY carrier has activated", and all we can answer is with something ambiguous because we know there's problems or that it's a long ways away, etc.
Maybe I'm thinking too much into things. I just read it completely differently though. I wonder how long it will take AT&T to make a public statement. All the other Android sites are starting to cover the same issue.

I respectfully have to disagree with you. I've experienced Apple's customer service firsthand and it's been nothing but great for me. The fact that I can just walk into an Apple store greatly helped but that doesn't change the fact that after a wait, they always resolved any issues I had. (Even some caused by me.) The worst part is that wait though.

Apple has got to be the best customer service that I have ever dealt with. Even getting them to repair a phone was like getting a brand new item in the box. Really quick calls as well.
Samsung on the other hand is a complete disaster. Be prepared to be on the phone a good 2 hours anytime you have to give them a call. Also, their repair service is unbelievably terrible as well. I had to send a Note 4 in like 5 times because the screen was separated completely from the frame after they replaced it. It blew my mind how they couldn't get the screen to stay on the frame being that they made the device. They even acted like it was my fault even though I sent pics the same day I would receive the "fixed" phone.
Didn't take to long. Didn't get original color silver but grey it's not really grey to me though. Looks nice. I had to email Samsung they said they would look into it.

So after registering at the HTC redemption web site, has anyone actually got a confirmation that they are going to send the coupon codes to order the dots? All I got was an email confirmation email, which when I clicked on the confirmation link took me to a page thanking me for signing up for the HTC newsletter. Seems pretty weird to me.
I just finished putting my information on the offers page for the dots. I got the same thing after subscribing with HTC. It even gives me an opportunity to update my profile for the U11 Redemption so I think from here we simply wait and see

I did email them at the [email protected] address that they list for sending any questions, asking them if the confirmation they mention on the redemption page would be forthcoming or if this subscription email was it. I haven't received anything since they requested an updated MEID Decimal. Starting to have doubts myself and I received the U11 almost a week before the official release. I honestly couldn't of pre-ordered any better.?
I have called HTC a couple of days ago when I was having doubts about the code coming in and when I talk to them she to also told me to go redo my meid and that I should receive a code within the next 10 days after I do that hopefully that helps ease the mind of everybody. And if it's not here on the 9th day I am going to call them back to figure out what's going on.

There's nothing wrong with this thread. It might help others who can't OEM unlock their TMo Pixel devices.
okay here is how it was done. also i have an update on the unlock. firstly i went in all bets were off. so, i treated it like it was the last chance ever. google support actually was not able to get the device unlocked purely for the fact that i am in a weird situation that i actually recieved a tmobile phone with a blocked imei. i can say it seems a very like a very legitimate option but i cannot promise it as i ended up taking a different route. no matter how you try they to do it google is gunna fight every single inch but so did i. BUT!!!, get this, I have a warranty replacement coming in the mail from google free of charge. so I'm giving them my T-Mobile branded phone for a refurbished unlocked variant. I didn't take no for an answer, I was kind and friendly to the the guy but wouldn't back down. it started with a few to many beers and some stupid ideas. I did some serious research into the warranty. in the warranty it states for anything it is up to the discretion of google to repair or replace the device. it does not specify how serious or simple. so, the goal is convince them to replace it. it also does not say anything about if you bought your device from a 3rd party. if you have the warranty listed in your settings you have it and can use it. he was obviously under the impression it was a stolen device or something because well i mean come on look at what i was trying to get done. so have your receipt for the device on hand listing name and imei. i also had to allow them into my phone but i had factory reset the device directly before contacting them. im not gunna go to far in on what is wrong with my device because that is case by case an mine is complicated as hell and impossible to easily articulate. the guy was trying to blow me off leave the chat. the thing is I'm pretty darn sure they can't end it until you say basically. i made the guy email me so i couldnt be ran off on. he tried to not ask for my email. so i sent it to him at the end. he tried to email me after we got off the chat. i told him now please. the thing is it is completely in my right based on the warranty to be asking for what i was and i knew that without any doubt. he was unable to give any fibs here or there to get away with not doing what i asked. i genuinely was kind and annoyed him but made him chuckle about it all in the end. the warranty is the key for anything. figure out how to explain that a warranty repair is needed on the unlock switch. the reason has to be absolutely bullet proof i also can talk my way to anything with working in sales. so a shy person who isnt vocal will probaby not make this happen. i read the warranty 20 times to be able to go in and hold him hostage by forcing the exchange through exploiting the **** out of the rules with complete confidence and no hesitation. now i suck at typing so sorry if this is confusing.
btw i think some social lubricant or too much is crucial to be able to make it through with the confidence needs. sooooo ONLY WORKS FOR PEOPLE 21+ lol

I respect your opinion but it wasn't luck in can tell you that. I had been planning this doing research to try and guarantee it and it worked. Feel free to lock and delete. I'll just rewrite it and make sure it is more formal for you. So it isn't looked at as junk. When it was a big achievement and my last thread about unlocking had some really decent engagement. Also they didn't just give it to me it is a normal warranty exchange they send phone I send my phone to them if I don't I pay for it
Alright so here is where we are me and google support are emailing back and forth they decided to try to go back on it and issue a device repair as they don't wanna help saying it was bought with TMobile but I 100 percent have a warranty they have even admitted it. So they are saying repair is what the limited warranty covers. No no it isn't all it covers firstly. So I sent them the warranty that i have with all the parts highlighted that's talked about replace and I have a unrepairable device with how ive laid it out. So I'm not to worried truthfully it's frustrating that they are postponing to just make it hard instead of sending off the exchange phone since they already took my card info to protect them
