I just switched to ATT and got my One X not even a hour ago, I decided to root and then install some cleaning tool I found here.
Well after about 15 mins of adb pushing files it said device is out of memory or something in the dos window and then it closed, THEN the problem started, device rebooted and now when I power on I only get to the htc one screen with the beats audio logo at the bottom.
Problem is I don't even have clockwork installed yet so I can't even flash into something else. Can anyone PLEASE help me I would greatly appreciate it.

not sure what you did, but you should factory reset your phone to get it up and running. User Manual. Performing a factory reset using hardware buttons. If you can’t turn HTC One X on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on HTC One X.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
hope this helps!

Hi,
I got my HTC HD2 only a couple of weeks ago, and I already got a problem with it
The thing is, that I can't boot it up properly; when pressing the "Turn on/Turn off/hang up"-buttom, it boots by comin' up with the white screen with the green "HTC"-logo in the middle and some system information in the left buttom.
Afterwards the animation with "quietly brilliant" comes up and the Windows logo with the orange background comes up - and then it turns off and boots up again.
I've tried to...
* reset it (not hard reset - I have some contacts that I don't wanna loose).
* charge it up (I can, when the windows-logo appears, see, that the battery's full)
* pull out the battery for several hours
Please help - I'm very sad about that I used tons of money on a device, that now won't work.
Is there any way, where I can solve the problem without loosing all my contacts?
I did it!
Ok, found out that all my contacts were synch'ed with my gmail.
I hard-resetted it, and it works now.
Thanks for your help
Lol well done!
For people that dont have push/exchange contacts etc, always backup using myphone, spb, sprite or other software.
Cant tell you enough how important it is to back up, unless you like loosing everything right?
Greetz.
Boot problem..
Hello there,
I bought my HTC HD2 like 2 months ago, and the first two days it froze like thrice !
Now, suddenly i find it turned off then when i try to boot it up, it get stuck on the white screen with the green "htc" and information in red to the bottom left. It hangs there!
It did later show the following black screen with white text:
"The device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tired to install an application from untrusted source. Press Volume Up to reset your decice or press any other button to cancel. This operation will delete all your personal data and restore the device to it's factory settings"
but the thing is, i can't press anything at this stage, nothing happens....
I did try to hardware reset, charge, remove battery and put back, etc..

You tried:
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it.
2. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
If that dont work try flashing a new rom using mtty.
If that still doesnt work I would expect it to be a hardware problem, i would send it back to htc or if without warranty take it to a Phoneshop (or open yourself), probably a wires loose or something.
Thank you for replying... but sadly no, it didn't work
I do have warranty, ill take care of that..
Thank you again.
did hard reset and returned to factory settings. all my installed applications were lost. pity.
All I wanted is to install the @#$%% russian keyboard!
ALWAYS backup first. Simple.

If its brand new out of the box, id take it back and get a different one. If its second hand, see if you can get into bootloader. If you can you can then flash a stock htc rom, if not its back to the shop.

i have the same problem But how i can Backup when phone is turned off
I have the stock 'v10c' ROM on a 'Rogers' LG Optimus 3D.
This morning I was using the Google+ Android client and - without closing the app - pushed the power button to put the phone to sleep and put it in my pocket.
About 15 mins later I pulled the phone out of my pocket and it was dark, but the touch countrols were all lit up. I know that usually isn't good news. The phone was unresponsive.
I pulled the battery and tried to re-boot. It gets to the Rogers screen and then boot-loops, with a flash of the Rogers screen each time it restarts a cycle. Roughly 15 seconds apart.
I did vol+down+Power (guessing based on other phones) and it booted into a recovery (3e) menu that only offered me the chance to wipe all user data. Ok. I moved the cursor down using vol+down and sletected "yes" with Home. The phone then presented a triangle logo and the green android and sat there.
Meanwhile...I Googled. After about 10 mins I pulled the battery again and did the Vol+down+3D button+Power boot to the REAL recovery menu.
I then did a wipe / factory reset from the recovery menu. I have assumed the Home button is the enter button (BTW).
Again the triangle and the green android appear. They are still there 10 mins later.
Not sure what to do now...the phone won't boot and the factory reset won't fix it. But it isn't dead. I can still get to recovery, so in theory this is fixable. I just don't have time for it right now. :-/
I was wondering if maybe the phone had updated OTA in my pocket and I didn't realise it and I may have messed up the process. But I have never seen a phone do an OTA update without first notifying the user and seeking confirmation...so I that probably isn't the case.
Very annoying.
I'm posting this here in case anyone else has the same experience.
Anyone have any advice?
[Update: The Menu button is the enter button...not Home. So I did a real factory reset and the phone now boots to the "Welcome to your new phone" screen. *WHEW!*]
Uhmm... if Menu button is home button that means u have problem with build.prop. I never met with this kind of problem, however I think u just should turn on usb mode in cwm, put a ROM on phone, flash it and see how this will be. Don't forget to backup ur rom.

Hi there,
I've got the same problem with my LG P920.
Then I read your thread and now I can tell you how to fix...
The recovery is the right way to fix, but the homebutton is not the menu button.
You have use the Options Button the first from the left side or the 3d-button.
Than you came to factory default and you can restart youre device.

Anyone know the glitch that is causing this?

Hi everyone,
INTRO:
So the power button on my Nexus S broke. No big deal, I remapped it to the search button and used the volume rocker to wake the device; an option that was embedded in Cyanogenmod9.
Then I upgraded to CM10... since I did that on top of CM9, my volume rocker option was still enabled, but the option is no longer in CM10's GUI.
I had some annoying issue and thought maybe I should wipe my phone; which I did.
Sadly, I realized that my "wake using volume rocker" option was no longer enabled, and there is no GUI to turn it back on.
I then found a .zip package that was supposed to enable the option but, I guess I went too fast, now my phone is stuck on a bootloop.
THE PROBLEM:
Since my power button is broken, I cannot navigate in the fastboot menu to recovery and fix the ROM.
Worst, since the power button is somehow shorted (i.e.: it powers on automatically when I insert the battery) Fastboot is not working properly and my PC never sees my phone, so you can forget about fastboot boot recovery.img
So: boot loop, power button broke, no recovery, no fastboot. =(
I searched quite a bit and found out you could get the Nexus S in download mode and get it to work with ODIN using a USB JIG.
I made myself such a JIG and successfully put the phone in some kind of download mode where my PC sees it, fastboot devices yields nothing *but* ODIN sees the phone!
So a glimmer of hope except for the fact that finding the .tar files for the Nexus S seems impossible...
Thoughts? Suggestion? TIA!
Francis // XC3N
Oh BTW:
-Yes I saw the other posts, but none of them mention the odin files
-Yes, I know fastboot is better; but it's not working and:
-No, I can't see the device on 3 different PCs using 3 different OSes and 3 Different cables when in fastboot mode
I mean by that last line that *nothing* shows in device manager in Win7 or XP and *nothing* shows in lsusb on ubuntu
So unless someone has an idea it looks like Download mode is the only way my PC sees my phone...
My power button done the same thing, I googled around and found a solution that worked for me.
It's somewhere here on xda but I don't got the link, basically everytime I booted into the bootloader I couldn't move the cursor with the volume button because the phone thought I was holding the power button, so I carefully tapped the casing around the power button and rebooted the bootloader and eventually I had control, it took 5-6 attempts to get it going but it did fix the power button for me.
I think it's something to do with the micro switches giving out after a certain number of uses.
Also it started screwing about recently so I just blew into the casing through the power button and it's behaved ever since.
In short, tap it until it works, once you have control of fastboot plug the usb in and your pc should detect it
Hope this helps, Good Luck

Hey MuckyFox thanks for your reply!
Unfortunately, that would've worked back when the power button was flimsy and still working once in a while... I did try the tapping thing but really nothing works... the button seems entirely dead and shorted. I guess at this point I might've to bring it in for repair... if the power button isn't broken then I'll be able to easily fix everything in recovery or fastboot. Sucks because I feel like I'm so close to getting it to work without spending money XD I just can't find the files for odin even though they really do seem to exist.
Allright so I found some odin files which were said to work with the i9020a
I flashed them... at some point it said "RESET!" and then odin no longer saw the device. The device is now not booting at all. FML
So this thread is going to end up like every other similar thread: I went and bought a Galaxy Nexus ;P
For posterity, these are the files you shouldn't flash on i9020A:
BOOTLOADER : Bootloader_I9020XXJK1.tar
PDA : PDA_SOJU_GRH78_85442_SIGNED.tar
PHONE:
CSC : CSC_I9020_EUR.tar
My power button started failing over the last couple of days. First when I would set the phone to standby it would ask me if I wanted to switch off the device, then later on it wouldnt respond at all.
Really weird solution - boot into recovery, factory restore, clear dalvik cache, voila, works good as new! (aside from losing all my settings)
Note, I barely managed to get into recovery. The power button fully stopped working halfway through and I had to take the battery out and try it a couple of times.
Oddly, even during this uber-broken phase, the power button would always switch on the device when fully switched off (not just standby) indicating to me that it wasnt just a physical broken connection.
I've mentioned this before, but a full casing for the phone with all the buttons is around $10 on eBay

You need stuff for SOJUA, and just the fact CSC has EUR meaning Europe in it would scare the crap out of me. Possible you just flashed stuff meant for i9020T and not i9020A.
In case anybody comes back here, I'm just gonna drop this in.
Hi everyone,
I've got a big issue, my nexus S is not rooted and bootloader is still lock. As I said, my power button is broken....I've tryed to install driver from the nexus toolkit(and many others...), it worked but my nexus is reconized as "Acer ADB"...After that, I did "adb reboot bootloader" the nexus get into fastboot, but the computer cannot see it at all..not even in devices manager. When i'm on fastboot, nothing works, volume button and power are not responding(volume normaly work when booting OS).
Please help me !
Anyone?

Unless you have Gingerbread, you cannot root without your power button.
You can't scroll in fastboot and it doesn't get recognized because the power key is "stuck" on. It's a known issue when the power button fails on the Nexus S. Some people had moderate luck blasting compressed air around the power button, other opening it up and cleaning it with alcohol.
Thanks for answering.. I'll probably try to clean the button, i asked someone who repair Android phone and he told me that there was no fix for this button issue -_- that sound weird...

There's no easy fix though, it's true. I don't think anyone sourced the power button switch so as to order a few of them and beside it's a SMD component, quite tiny for some inexperienced (and even experienced) people.
If I was certain it was a power switch physical issue, I could likely source the part somewhere or exchange for similar and offer to repair people Nexus S, but my phone is fine and I surely won't take someone else phone to test.
Hello everyone! So I've had my phone (HTC One M8) rooted and custom recovery and rom installed for a little while now. The latest rom I've installed was Android Revolution HD 22.1. I also have twrp 2.8.1.0 installed. The other day my phone got wet and started to constantly reboot itself, wouldn't shut off and stay off, would never actually start. I put it in a cup of rice for 2 days, then proceeded to plug it in to charge it. Once charged enough I tried to turn it on. It only made it the HTC One logo screen and would vibrate every 10 seconds or so. I tried rebooting several times and no matter what I did with different button combinations I could not get it to load into bootloader. Eventually with restarting different ways and "mechanically stressing" the phone (short temper lol) I managed to get it to loading into the rom itself. From there I opened hasoons all in one toolkit to reboot directly into recovery and recovered to the stock rom. So the phone will now reboot with no problem into this rom. I haven't tried reflashing the ARHD 22.1 rom again because im afraid it'll break again. However, while in the stock rom everything work fines except for the volume up button which does nothing, except for while the screen is off, if I turn my phone to landscape the camera app will open without me even pressing the volume up button. If I reboot into bootloader via the quickboot app or hasoons toolkit, my volume down button with make the cursor go up, the volume up button does nothing, and the power button does nothing. The only thing I can do in bootloader is to hold power+volume up to get the phone to reboot. I also cannot get bootloader to load by holding volume down+power. So, After all that explaining, my main question would be, do you think that the buttons are shorting in a weird way because of water damage, or do you think my software got corrupted because of all the rebooting it did? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
-Tim
Hi,
You could try a clean flash of the rom.... If you're sure the wonky buttons won't interfere with the flash, because if they do... You'll be left with no OS on the device.
Water can affect many things, especially with power on while it was wet. This will be hard to solve, and could get costly. Usually with water damage, you fix or replace one thing, only to find now that something else doesn't work. Can turn into a real money pit.
You're issue isn't so bad, but my usual advice for worse cases are save your money for a new device, because you may never get your device fully working and spend a lot of money trying to fix it.
Ah, I just saw you already asked for help in your device section. Good. ?
Then this thread can be closed, as we're here to help navigate the site, not support.
Thank you.
