Why are there no roms yet??? It was popping here yesterday..
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

Takes time and testing. Also even though got unlock bootloader and part of cwm don't think we can flash roms yet. Think they are waiting on something else.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

Plus the source code for the kernel has not been release. I think when the source code is released, there will be a lot more excitement all around. Looking forward to seeing some optimized kernels running on these devices. Some custom roms and kernels will be a blast.

It has literally been less than 3 weeks (20 days to be exact) since the phone was released.
Plus, they already have an unlocked bootloader. I remember waiting almost 6 months before the Atrix's bootloader was unlocked.

This is why I usually avoid threads that use multiple (unnecessary) punctuation.

It might be an idea to stop posting "I WANT MY ROMZ NAO!" threads, otherwise devs might not even bother.
Development doesn't happen overnight. I'm sure there are devs working on them as we speak.
Be patient!

check your android version. Is it 4.04?
I think you've just closed any loopholes to rooting and unlocking the boot loader.

if it's 4.04 android you'll have more RAM and thus better multitasking. If it's similar to the leak from Asia, you can change the behavior of the recent apps button in settings. You can make it be the menu button, like god intended.

Also, some have mentioned that the multitasking memory management itself seems tweaked in the Asia 2.23 ROM. Its less aggressive about killing apps. Personally, I've been fine with the multitasking thing, so I haven't noticed much of a difference.
Other changes from the 2.23 Asia ROM, aside from the ability to remap the buttons (go Settings>Display, gestures & buttons), the ROM seems a bit smoother all around, such as going between home screens and opening the app drawer. Not too many other big differences on the surface, but that doesn't mean they didn't tweak a bunch of things under the hood.
One other real minor thing I noticed, if you plug the phone into USB, when you select what you want to do (Charge only, Disk Drive, etc.) the "Done" button is gone. I guess it gives one less thing you have to push when making your selection.
What are the kernel and baseband numbers?

You should always assume an OTA will lock you out for good. In fact, I hope it does permanently block everyone from rooting ever again just so I can laugh at all the people who blindly accept an OTA because they think it will turn their phone into a sex doll or something. I can understand that type of behavior on Android Central, but this is xda and it's geared directly at people who root/mod their phones. If a stupid MR OTA is more important than being able to root, then xda is not the forum for you. FYI this comment is not a personal attack, it is a general statement for everyone who jumps to accept an OTA without thinking.

I remember the HTC aria 2.2 froyo update locked rooting out for a while, but the persistent devs the fixed that fairly quick stop I wouldn't worry too much

Wasn't too worried about being locked out for good. Thought I was with the last update. This phone is a far cry from my little Aria but like to follow along with developments and don't mind testing things out for those who want keep root but want to know what the future holds for the stock phones that will becoming out with this update

Does not matter anymore. They are using the open source HAL. Mostly all the issues with the camera are gone. Only bust mode is outstanding.

I guess I just don't understand why they would give us the source if we can't legitimately use it. Everyone who is rooted/unlocked did it without HTC's consent. Are we supposed to find bugs (without testing?) then submit them to HTC so they can place them in the latest update? Essentially doing the work of their developers?

My understanding is that by the time the previous kernel source was released, it was already outdated as roms were being built on 4.0.4 instead of 4.0.3. With this, we're up to date at least until 4.1 drops.

He said he didn't want to make a thread for this. I'd remove the download link and say it's on his twitter.
Either way, I couldn't get this upload to work either. Any idea why that is? md5 matched, would reboot once it got to the lockscreen. I wiped everything(system, dalvik, cache, and data) in 4ext and it still didn't work.
Does this happen to anybody else?

Technically, they have to release source immediately after the OTA goes out, but their lawyers are good enough that it isn't really worth fighting(and we don't really have a right to complain, source isn't needed for the average user). The Linux kernel is under the GPL v2, you are free to read it, and in that document there is nothing documenting a 90 day waiting period. Honestly, HTC is just lazy and will do their own thing. I'd just be happy that they give us source at all. Eventually somebody will fix the camera(possibly before source drops), but it isn't a huge priority(especially since this rom doesn't even load past the lockscreen), and if you really need it that badly, you can dual boot an ICS rom with a gingerbread rom that has a working camera.

The only pain is for all you crack flashers that flash 5 roms a day (which is ridiculous)....and not having s off doesn't make it that much more time consuming to flash a Rom , all the roms have a boot IMG script that does all the commands for you , so if you already have fastboot and adb on your cp (wich you should if you flash roms) it is a minor issue ....
Sent from me
I got my answer from someone who owns both the gnex and the one s. The galaxy nexus rules. US crack flashers like to be able to flash whenever we want to or when we need to. Especially if I am away and a ROM isn't running as it should or if a kernel is buggy it's always nice to be a crack flasher. Opinions are like assholes.

Well there is no best ROMs. It is all preference. Also, saying what is the best ROM is against the rules. I suggest looking in the development sections and scrolling thru. No one here is going to tell you what to flash. If you like viper just five it go. If you want clean ROM then flash it.
