Hey guys, I've been using the iPhone since 2007 when they first came out and now I'm putting down my 4S and switching over to the Skyrocket and i'm very excited to do so. I've been on this forum reading up for a couple weeks now trying to familiarize myself with the modding etc. My phone should be coming in today so I have a couple quick questions.
First off, I really want to skip gingerbread and goto ICS but I have never learned an android phone and the workings but it shouldn't take me too long to get used to it. Should I keep GB a while and get used to it then make the switch?
Second, I was thinking about going straight to SKY ICS but it looks like it's not 100% worked out and I do want a fully functioning phone. Should I flash to SKY or pick another more stable build of ICS?
Any suggestions would be great!
I always come back to GB. All the Ics are pretty stable, but I like my bln, kernel tweaks, and 100% working.
There is also a small possibility that the Ics leaks are causing bricks. None that I know of for the skyrocket yet, though. They have been having problems with the note and various other models.

from just the pure OS's workings i think ICS would be easier to get used to. though samsungs stock ICS doesn't look all that different from gingerbread.
None of the ICS ROMS are 100% stable but a lot work really well and have mostly everything (aside from a few small bugs) working perfect.
I'd say read around for about a week or so on the exact procedure on how to root, install cwm, install roms, and ect. Then when you are more comfortable working with the software and your phone go ahead and flash.
As far as which rom, SKYICS is very fast and very stable, just about as good as you can get with the stock samsung ICS. and it has various speed tweaks as well as S Voice (Like Siri but not as good) from the Galaxy S3 and also the TouchwizUX Launcher.
Theres also CM9 (Which I use) Which, instead of being samsungs ICS, it looks exactly like Stock Google ICS (The one that comes with the Galaxy Nexus)
It is also very fast, and looks amazing, i think much better than samsungs ICS.
And you can also get TouchwizUX and S Voice on CM9 once you get settled in with android and learn how to move apks.
All in all. its up to you. Do some reading for a while, learn everything you can, and then Try as many roms as you like and see what works good for you.
Both are great replies thanks guys. I definitely need to play around with some of the tools and familiarize myself with everything. I need to find the best backup programs/music programs/ etc and get used to those. I have all my contacts from my iPhone synced with Google contacts so I should be able to sync it with my Skyrocket once it comes in. I really would like S-Voice so I'll most likely go straight to SKY ICS once I get better with the phone, I don't want to eff anything up. The iPhone was pie to jailbreak. It looks like there's a bit more things involved with the android phone in terms of rooting/permissions/flashing and so forth. Will have to dig deeper. I've read the noob guide but it doesn't make a ton of sense until I get the phone in my hand lol.

Yeah and I used to be one of those fanboys, I got her into the iPhone. I just think it's time to graduate into something an adult should use and isn't so locked down. I'm getting tired of squinting at the damn 3.5" screen and having to follow apples rules.

Yeah I'd have to agree with you there. She LOVES her white 4**** to death haha.
I used to have an iPhone and I do like the app ecosystem better, and it does look more polished. But the skyrocket beats it in everything else I can think of. But yeah. Being in high school the iPhone is more of a flashy accessory... everyone thinks iPhones the best. Until I show them what the skyrocket can do of course ;P

LoL that's a good one. I usually refer to it as a smartphone with training wheels.
My wife calls it her Ipaid. But welcome to Droid.
My fiance wanted to pick up the 4s, I showed her the Note and it is has been love since then. I do not think I could go to an OS that does not allow modding, that would be my only hang up with switching to an iOS device for my phone.

I came from the iPhone 4 about 6 weeks ago and immediately started digging around on the web for info on Android and landed here.
I stuck with 100% stock for about a week before taking the plunge into rooting. Did a lot of reading on here because I didn't understand the terminology (CWM, Flash, TiBU, ODIN, et. al). Once I felt comfortable, I went through the process and had no issues.
Ran like that for a couple of weeks, but the dev section drew me in. Before long I was researching ROMs, and gravitated to SkyICS UCLE4. Read about 20 pages into that thread before chickening out.
THEN I found the ICS 4.0.4 ODIN one-click thread. More reading.... Decided to go for it. Held my breath, re-read the instructions for the 50th time and clicked start.
Worked perfectly. No glitches in the process, no "wth did I just do?"
So I ran with that for another week, but that SkyICS thread was getting bigger, with people raving about battery life and smoothness... like a moth to a flame.
So I spent three days reading all 190+ pages in that thread (or whatever it's up to now).
Just last night, decided to go for it with base 3, update 7 of SkyICS.
I've almost memorized the instructions, BUT it paid off. My SR is running Seanz ROM and I couldn't be more happy with it. Nailed it on the first try - no glitches, no reflash, no problems other than setting the lockscreen wallpaper, which I couldn't give two rats' sh**s in the rain about - and its a known problem anyway. Who cares.
My first suggestion (and one that's repeated ad nauseum here) is read, read, read. Take it slow. Read the instructions for whatever you want to do repeatedly until you really get it.
My "n00b" advice: Get the phone, tinker with it, set it up how you like it, then research how to root it and back it up (your apps, your data, your entire ROM). Make multiple, off-phone backups in case you fudge something. Then learn how to restore. Then TEST restoring to your backups. That's your first hurdle!
Once you have that confidence in your backup & restore process, you'll feel a lot better about looking at the ROMs available and picking the one to suit your needs. Read the feed back, make mental notes, and decide whether the risk is worth it to you.
Personally, I owe seanscreamz a beer or three.
Good luck!
(sorry for the book, but hey, it's my first post here.)

I think this story is true for most new android owners who want to do more with their phones. But, like it's only scary the first time. Not to worry it's easy and most of the time painless. Once you have taken the plunge you will be hooked. And like the millions of other flash junkies around the world.... We welcome you. Addiction may require professional treatment.

Welcome to Android! Thank goodness you don't have to use that dreadful iTunes anymore. Remember, you can change your launcher if you don't like the UI, I use launcher pro, but if you go ICS, try apex launcher. I use the Dragon Go plugin that you can get through the Swype beta( beta.Swype.com) for my SIRI, but there are others. Learn how to install the URL]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367396 14 Toggle Status Bar. Buy an external battery charger that comes with a couple batteries from Amazon for like $15 bucks, and finally, learn about widgets, your best friend. Good luck!

With the new entries into the at&t android scene, will the captivate be left behind by the devs? A couple have already picked up new devices, is there cause for concern?
There will be others who step in, and given that you can run vibrant and i9000 roms there will be new stuff going on. The i9000 forum is really where the action is anyway. If hardcore and supercurio move on then I would say you have seen the end of what can be done with the sgs.
Porting vibrant roms, simple kernel/modem swap? Can it be done before and after flash?
Hope not.
@mccord
Yep, I usually boot the rom then flash the kernel and modem. Sometimes it wont work simply swapping them first.
It already has been abandoned. Jump ship while you still can.

Solid info, any recommendations? ;p
My point in the thread is this, were will development be in a month, what are our options. I9000 and vibrant ports are solid options. I don't think many understand how easy it is to do on their own
It will carry on no matter what. Browse around. Heck there is still stuff going on with devices that are 5 years old and older. So no it will not ever "end"

The new entries that is rolling out now, IMO, doesn't have the "wow" factor for anyone to upgrade and renew for another 2 years or even 1, yes opinion. I just returned my Inspire cause of it.
The Atrix, we will see. Accessories, accessories, accessories...reach deep in the pocket for it. Not worth it, ....we are just talking about a phone.
Samsung Infuse...oh yea... Neveragain.
I predict 3rd quarter, then "man overboard"
Development for these phone are easy for these devs, as long as leaked firmwares keep on popping up, and they have been. We all should be safe for awhile.
Sorry for the rambling...morning java...strong.
But yea, what newter55 said
I don't know if this indicative of how many people actually OWN a captivate, let alone DEVING...but I often find that next to Android development section of the captivate the number of viewing is usually around 300. There's still lots of captivaters, and I don't think everyone is in a position/able to jump ship.
I don't see why people are so worried, I'm looking into getting a Captivate myself. I know it's no Inspire 4G etc etc. But it's still a relatively new device. I know when I started in the WM6 days, people were still making WM5 roms etc for old devices. You will see people still working on them.

Oh of course. I have been away for a long while. The last device I owned was a HTC Kaiser. Been with Blackberry since then. The Rhodium in my sig is my mothers that I tweaked for her.
Why do devs not like the Captivate? I've been looking into getting one to be able to learn Android and be as helpful as I was back in my older device days.

Interesting. Funny that you mention Quality control, my brothers brand new Captivate's screen went out under a month of getting it. It's like the screen decided not to turn on one day.
I've wondered this myself. I feel like if development will continue after the next 6 months its going to be on cyanogen... but hey. I'm relatively new to android so take what i say with several grains of salt
If the atrix lives up to the hype ill be abandoning my captivate....unlocked bootloader and its over

I feel that the amount of work the devs are putting into this phone are making it a great device. I switched to an LG Quantum recently (and love it) But thanks to the joys of owning a sim card, I switch to my captivate at least twice a week. Go to the LG Quantum forum, and you'll see why. There isn't much to do. Not much hacking, no OC's, no UC's, just questions like "What case looks prettiest on my phone?" =/
This even applies to the majority of Motorola android phones, especially MOTOBLUR devices. There just isn't that much to do with them. As for the Captivate, there will always be some random, somewhat useless feature we're all going to go gaga over. ("OMG I CAN TAKE PANORAMA SHOTS.... MUST SHARE WITH XDA...") It's just the spirit of the Captivate forum. We're all in the same poorly navigated, highly customizable boat.
*group hug* xP
Well the origianal droid is about as customizable as the galaxy s it has gingerbread already...and honestly up until recently most of the "custom" roms were just bloatware free versions of vibrant or i9000 versions of TW. Andromeda and serendipity and supernova all are themed giving a feeling of something new and fresh....if we could get some aosp builds then this phone would really be great and we would see some true custom roms.....the devs are what's keeping the galaxy s alive.

I really have no idea why a lot of you guys are still on stock?
This is my very first android, and i took 2 hours reading and another hour asking questions. and another hour rooting my phone.
Just root your damn phone.
I have 3 kids. Taking 3 hours out of my day to root my phone is not an option.
I did make time to mess with my htc incredible only because is was a one click trick.
30 minutes a day.. its worth it.
your question should have been "why do you stay unrooted".. THAT it understandable.
Stock ROM is pretty good though.
Cute dog. is there a way to edit topics?
I stayed unrooted for about three weeks. It took me that long to work up the nerve to root. After I'd read the procedure through a few times, asked a few questions, and, most importantly, satisfied myself that it was entirely reversible, I went for it.
I'm still stock because flashing roms and losing some of my settings got old on my Nexus One. I simply tired of flashing kernels, radios, roms, themes and never really being any happier than I was to start with. Been there done that. I did the whole "I got my first android and want to be like the cool kids and root". I've been using Android and flashing roms for years.
I was always tweaking and I would improve one thing, and another thing would be degraded or broken.I would get better battery life but have to deal with reboots. I would get great GPS but then wifi would break, or the device would get hot...or it would be stable and basically like it was before I ever even rooted in the first place.
CM7 was the best I used(most stable anyway), but even then I got really bored. I tried some Sense roms and really liked them but they were all buggy as hell as well. So I decided to get a Sense device. IF I hated Sense, I would certainly root but then again if I hated sense I wouldn't have bought the Tbolt.
So far I have not had one reboot, not one single issue except that GPS can be slow once in awhile, but then I see folks with rooted devices, flashed kernels and radios complaining of the same thing. Today I went all over town and GPS worked great...it's a random thing.
When I see a rom I HAVE TO HAVE, I'll root and flash it, but so far I have not seen anything that makes me want give up my perfectly working device/os.
With the Nexus One I found the Flavored Ice themes and fell in love with Dark Cherry. I rooted just so I could have that theme. Unfortunately theming is difficult for Sense so there are not really many themes to lure me in.
Some things I DO miss from being rooted, Ad-Free, SetCPU(but again usually ahve to live with some reboots which I hate), being able to flash some cool things like the Hulu apk. no getting around it there are things I miss from being rooted.
However, I have a rooted Moto Zoom and I use that now more than my TBolt. My TBolt has become more like a phone again and I just want it stable for phones calls and navigation.
As a matter of fact, I have rejected Verizon's update because for ONCE I have a device that I am perfectly happy with as is.
If I were going to root it would be to flash this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013577
and then install ad-free and a few other apps I miss. As it stands I can afford to pay for tethering so I don't even have any motivation to root for free tethering.
I know, what about bloat? Well I have over a hundred apps installed and I still have 1.97 GB of space left. I came from Nexus One where with zero apps installed I had 120MB of free app space! The apps simply don't bother me being there om my Tbolt. Space isn't an issue for me.
To wrap it up, my battery life is fine, my phone call quality is superior to anything I've ever had. I love the sense UI and my device/os is stable as hell.
I am happy.
PS: FWIW, I did root my TBolt using the one click method at android central just to make sure it would work with the USB port on my computer, I then promptly unrooted it. I can re-root anytime I want. No hurry and I may very well never re-root, especially given that I will be again upgrading my phone again as soon as the next best thing is released(that is not the Charge).

While I am rooted, I know exactly what you mean. I am on Das BAMF 1.6.2 and am planning to stay put for awhile. Sometimes I fail to use the best features of my phone because I've recently flashed and don't want to input my user name and PW into Pandora while I am driving down the freeway.
Once we have RIL and are officially supported by CM7 I will get back into the flashing game. I am not a big fan of Sense and have done my best to avoid it on my device using LP, Contapps, Handcent

I don't think a lot of people flash new roms everyday.
Usually if you are updating a Rom, like from Das bamf 162 to 163, you don't need to wipe. apps, texts, layout, and what not stay the same.

I was the same way with Slacker over the past year. especially because I was rooted and used A2SD, it would always log me out even if I hadn't recently flashed. Slacker just doesn't seem to like being on the SD card and hold the password at the same time. At the end of the day I'm not in any way against rooting and I'm glad it's there as an option for when I get bored. I always do get bored, either with stock or flashing roms...or just with any given device itself.

This is correct. The issue is not UPDATING roms...you get to keep all your settings that way. The issue is having to wipe before flashing a new rom. Me personally, it takes me a whole hell of a lot longer than two minutes to get everything back the way I want it. Downloading all my apps is not the issue. It's getting all of the settings for over a hundred apps back the way I want. Just as an example. Every website I visit I log into with a password. I use Skyfire, stock, Dolphin HD. When I wipe I have to go back and re-log into every damn website I visit again...and I have to do it every time I want to try a new rom...which ends up being often because once you flash one, it leads to another and another, always searching for that perfect rom. I often did flash at least every other day. Most developers would update their rom, fixing or adding something and the temptation was too strong not to test drive it again. But liek I said it makes the device never feel complete because I never settled on anything long term.
I will say this tho, it was rooting and flashing that made me realize how much I enjoyed Sense UI. I tried EVERY rom there was for the N1 and never enjoyed anything the way I did Sense(although I did love ROD's MIUI MoD rom for N1+ LauncherPro Plus...it was quick as hell and had beautiful transitions, not as stable as CM7 tho) and thru root and flashing you can try different UI's and find the one that is right for you. So rooting and flashing is definitely a great thing and like I said I'm glad it's an option I have to admit I miss that little high you get while waiting for a new rom to flash. Wondering if you've soft bricked, and the anticipation of seeing all the goodies new roms contain. The feeling of having total control over your device is nice too.

I'm sure I'll root eventually, I'm just kinda in the same boat as MuckenMire, tired on the endless rom shuffle. The TBolt is my first Android, but I'm coming from a number of WinMo 6.x devices. As some of you probably know from experience you pretty much had to flash a custom rom to make many of those phones usable. The Tbolt is a much better user experience stock than any of my old WinMo devices were with custom roms. Right now the bloatware would be the only reason I would bother with root. This phone is fast, stable and highly customizable stock. Right now I just don't see a compelling reason to root it.
That being said, first time I need to teather and VZW wants to charge me, I will probably root. I don't do it often enough to justify paying extra for it.

I love all these people who claim they are so busy, really come on, you obviously have time if you browse the XDA forums and Im sure you spend a lot of time on facebook.
Get over yourself.
Sorry for this Trollin, It just irritates me.

I'm over myself. I have time, but I just don't want to root. I'm happy with what I have. None of the roms look that great to me, so why bother? Why do some of you feel like everyone has to root. Like we're idiots cause we're running stock. Why do you really care what others are doing?
Hey guys,
I frequent the EVO forums since my current phone is the EVO 3D. My best friend has a Blaze 4G, which I rooted for him about a month ago. I know nothing of current Samsung ROMs and while I could search and read every thread in the Blaze section, I was hoping you guys could save me some time.
General requirements for any ROM to be considered:
1) Must have working camera/camcorder (He has a 7 year old daughter he just got custody of and Dads gonna want to take pictures.)
2) Must be "Stable". My friend is a great guy but not a computer/phone savvy as I am...I don't want his phone to **** the bed while I'm at work, I'd feel like an uber douche.
Please in your responses include any pro's/ con's and why YOU like it...Thanks a ton

I understand completely what you are saying about a rom for your friends Blaze. I would recommend Dark KNight Build 8 and Tweaked ROM. Both are stable and run well. I have been using Dark Knight since the day it hit. No force closes, no random reboots, everything is working fine. Tweaked is also very stable and everything works. Also I would recommend flashing the scorched kernel as well.
Hope this helps
I agree, tweaked and dknight are probably your best options, although I think there is JMT, but I have never tried that.
Let me ask you though. Is there a reason your friend does not want the stock rom? If he's not to tech savvy as you say, if it were my friend I would let him stick with stock, all the roms have there small issues. And although some may not bother me, it may be something your friend would rather not deal with. Having said that, after setting up dknight with the torched kernel and running for quite some time now, I have not had any problems.

He wants something different. From what I've read about the Blaze 4G and its users y'all have the same issue EVO 3D users had with regards to ICS update (We were told Q1 2012...didn't get an official OTA until 7/31). We will hang out, drink some cold beers and he will play with my phone and say "Damn, Chris...I wish my phone would do that" or "Hey Chris...you think you can make my phone do *insert cm9/10 feature here*" So a few weeks ago I went ahead and rooted his phone, he loves that HE is in control of his device...even if he has no idea what it can do. I set up Titanium for him and did a NANDROID backup so that if something went wrong he has a known good flash point. He knows that when in doubt, don't mess with it or call me and we will go through it together. So in fairness to him, he is savvy enough to know not to really mess with it until he more knowledgeable...
Besides all that the man couldn't type until I got him addicted to a MySpace app, I am hoping that once he sees what his device can do with some mods he will take interest the same way and learns to do this for himself...just gotta get him that first hit ya know
Last night my wife's iPhone 5 has had problems for the last time. I can't stand it anymore and I spent about 3 hours trying to debug it last night. Luckily she took it into Apple and they replaced it with a brand new one. So now I am going to sell the brand new iPhone 5 on eBay and give her SGS4. I currently have the SGS4 and I she doesn't really like how big it is compared to the iPhone 5.....tough sh%t right. She has been fighting me like a teenage girl who has just lost her cell phone privileges. I have explained to her numerous times about how I am able to back everything up on an sd card instead of depending on the stupid iCloud that doesn't even put her apps back on her phone.
Ok, sorry for the rant, but she will realize soon how much better this phone is. So my main quesiton is, what do you guys think will be the best ROM for her? Her first smartphone(if you want to call it that) was the iPhone 3G so she has always been on iOS.
I was thinking something along the lines of MIUI or the AVATAR ROM. The only downside to that is that she doesn't get all of the samsung apps(ya know the good ones, watchon, camera app). I'd love to hear what you guys think.
Keep it stock. I'd never put a custom Rom on my wife's phone, if something doesn't work then it would be your fault. Better yet, let her keep the iphone. Teaching my wife a new phone would drive me crazy!
I would ask myself...
Which ROM works best from the kitchen?
j/k
Be careful though, "Best" threads aren't allowed in this forum. However, I have to agree with jd, keep it stock. Try to keep AMDL firmware so you can root it and put a custom recovery on it (for nandroid backup purposes). But even if it does update to MF3, it is still rootable. There are plenty of functions and abilities on the stock ROM and if something goes wrong there's a better chance to fix it or get it fixed. Good luck.
I'd go with miui since she coming from a Iphone. Its pretty close to iOS so it shouldn't be to much of a learning curve. It works well its the ROM I use on my s4.

if your post on xda ends in a question mark, please keep the General section clear of clutter and post in the Q&A section. it is also worth noting, as stated above, that "best rom" threads are usually closed down. it is best for every user to read up, test & experience the different ROMs for themselves. the best advice you'll get here today is to leave your old lady's device stock. i'm quite sure that's a rule somewhere...possibly for your own survival.

Good luck to you. I hate bring the it guy at home. It's always my fault when something didn't with
I think you are crazy to not let her keep the iphone. You'd be even crazier to put a customer ROM on it.
Sorry, best rom threads are not allowed.
Users need to make their own determination as to what is best.
Something I've noticed is that I slowly become frustrated with whatever rom I'm on, be it cyanogenmod or liquidsmooth, cleanrom, etc. But as soon as I flash back to stock, I remember all the things I didn't like with stock, and want to flash back.
Where is the sweet spot? I find myself jumping back and forth, getting frustrated and tired no matter what rom I'm on. It could just be a personal problem :silly:
But I'm still kinda hoping for answers. For all the people out there who aren't modders, or devs, or who just barely know what they're doing: how do you survive with all the choices, where there's so many unique options of so many devs hard work (each with their own frustrations)? How do you choose?

Just a heads up, this thread is going to get shut down quickly, so I'm just going to lead you in the direction I think you want to go. There is no "sweet spot".
AOSP is made for many phones, and because of that fact you're going to miss a lot of features you're going to get from touchwiz that makes the s3 unique. It's fast, smooth, and debloated. Nice experience, but not for everybody.
Touchwiz has a range of different kinds of roms. You have heavily modded ones and some that are as bare as possible. These run drastically different on people's devices, and because of this fact you're going to get people swearing that their rom of choice is the best. However, just because a rom runs perfectly on someone's device, you might not have the same experience.
You choose by looking at the features you want and comparing them to the roms. If you want a heavily modded interface then roms like hyperdrive, goodness or jellybeans would be a good choice. If you want a more bare bones rom then bonestock, CleanROM, or tkrom would be solid choices. If you want a completely debloated experience, then aosp would be your option.
Basically, there is no real answer to your question. Flash one rom, give it a few days, if you don't like it then flash another.

One of the things that frustrates me is that I can't solve these issues on my own. I'm trying to learn linux and a lot of basic things like that, but it doesn't come naturally. If I could just know how to fix things, then I'd be happy.
I just learned about flashing radios not a few months ago. Before that I was having a ton of issues getting google voice search and my camera to work, and I didn't know why.
So many people write guides and such, but they never give the deeper explanations. Just the quick, easy answers. Take the one-click root for D2VZW. Does it work amazingly? Yes, I used it earlier today, and it was flawless. But I want to learn more in a way that's doesn't require 200% commitment and prior knowledge of things like how to use the linux terminal.
I don't like being a noob, but it's impossible to learn this stuff on your own unless you dedicate yourself, body and soul...

It's all part of the learning experience. You can't expect someone to give you answers all the time. I learned so much from not being happy with some aspect of my phone, searching for answers, and applying fixes for my problems.
You can learn anything without dedicating time, you learn as you go along. I was brand new to all of this a year ago, and now I'm able to fix nearly anything that happens to my phone.

Just needed to vent some frustration at this lol...
Thanks.
On the bright side I know how to use odin, so I can almost never kill my phone
Sometimes I feel like I need two phones though. One to mess with and one to actually use for being a phone.

This is a great guide. Just thought of it and couldn't remember where I saw it but it's worth skimming through.

This is exactly why I haven't flashed a single rom/kernel on my phone since I had it (run debloated stock with a few mods). I need my phone functional 100 percent. I was a flash-a-holic with my OG Samsung Epic, and learned from this that you can't have both variety and function. Do I miss the experience? Sure, but right now I can't afford to have a phone that isn't functioning the way I need it to be. Speajing of two phones: just upgraded to GNote 3, so may finally got to mess around with the S3 once the Note is activated.

Might I suggest XDA-University to help you learn these things?
I've bookmarked those links. Thanks for the help. I didn't know about the XDA university, since as you can see I'm new here.
If it was shown to us during registration (along with that one video), sorry I missed it.

The video is probably older than the university...it just opened about 3 months ago.
i'll be honest...I love cyanogenmod and would (almost) die for it...I have found my happy rom to be (Carbon) and while i have no issues with it, i live in a bad signal area...long story short, we don't have Verizon Coverage (Altell) atm...There was a lawyer issue that created a problem back in the seventies and that was just lifted about a year ago...Verizon's towers are being put up everywhere and i can't wait till they are activated...That being said i get data drops in the town i live in and sometimes have better experience on Touchwiz...But i cannot stand being on 4.1.2 and to be honest even though i might have data on touchwiz i can't really get it to work...so...
My experience is that when cyanogenmod in its current state is more honest about connectivity....because where cyanogenmod has none touchwiz has a connection that can't do anything.... If we had touchwiz with the latest android version i would probably be fine with an aosp theme....but not really... xD
