Anyway to make google search on the One X open up a chrome browser instead of the regular browser?

You can maybe try going to [Settings > App associations] and then select "Web URLs" and see if it gives you the option to select Chrome and see if that works.
Just a guess, I don't know if it will work with "Search".

Gah, I don't know how I missed that. I did it when I first got the phone but forgot to change it after installing the new rom

Or just press the Chrome button instead of the Search button when you want to search.

Try going to settings > applications > manage applications > opera mini and when you open it, it should have a "clear defaults" button.

ICS Problem? How to get apps to open instead of links opening in Chrome Beta?

How do I get dedicated apps (YouTube, Play Store) to open links and not the browser/chrome?
The only way I have found it to work is to not have a browser installed. On my tablet links open up the apps but with my Rezound the browser takes over and by default opens all links.
The settings don't mean anything and no prompt even comes up when clicking a link asking what app I want to use to open said link, it just goes to the default browser automatically.
It like this on three ICS roms on my Rezound I've used.
There is a App Associations setting in the settings menu that seems to be messing up the way that it works.
From my experience...go into the settings menu of the the handset and select apps. Next scroll to your current browser under the applications list and click on it.
Then scroll down all the way and select 'clear defaults'. Confirm. That should do the trick and whenever u click on any link in any app it will prompt you to select an option such as YouTube or browser instead of just opening up automatically in a browser.

That's the deal, clearing defaults doesn't do anything . There is no more prompt, just launches the browser.

Can you make it more clearly?

Did anyone resolve this issue? I also have link association issues unique to ICS as well. For instance, I used to (w/gingerbread) be able to click a video link in google+ then it would ask what I wanted to view the video with (browser or YouTube), now all web links open in the browser only, no questions asked... What is with that? Same with links in gtalk.
Nope it a HTC issue

Issue has been corrected with latest Meanrom ICS ROM... guess it was just annother ICS Virgin Mobile Leak bug...

How to get voice search icon back

Apparently HTC in their infinite wisdom decided to remove the voice search icon.
Install shortcut, then run it and it will allow you to start the voice search app using whatever method you wish. Then pull the notification bar down and create your shortcut. Dragged mine down to the dock and all is right with the world again.
Anyone notice that the voice search sucks in comparison with CB? It worked much better on my old ATRIX 2.

What do you mean install shortcut? It's not on my launcher drawer, and when I go to Google Play and search for it the "Open" and "Uninstall" buttons are missing..
any ideas?
use a root explorer app and delete it from /system/app . install new version from play store
Awesome tip, I added it to my notification toggles, perfection

Just dug around a little, found it.
Add to homescreen --> Shortcuts --> Activities --> Voice Search --> Recognition Activity
Surely you found it by now, so this is for posterity, for other people who stumble upon this page like I did.
Great tip thank you..

I went to Shortcuts, but the first one that pops up is Bookmarks. Is there no other simple way? I can't download and install it because it's already installed...
Alternate Solution
For those who can't make the above solution work, try this: (OK, I'm not permitted to include a link because I'm a "Noob") Go to AndroidCentral and search for "Missing the Voice Search button? Here's the fix!!". It will also refer you to an app on Google Play called "QuickShortcutMaker".

a quick question

ok, when i click on internet on my one s it always opens the last page i visited, sometimes this is great but most of the time i want to search for something, now ive set www.google.co.uk as my homepage hoping that when i click on internet it will open google straight away but its still opening from last webpage i was on.
is there a way to have my home page open soon as i open the internet please ?
Thanks in advance
Unfortunately not that I know of. Unless you close the tabs that you were using before you exit the browser. Or go to the home page manually, and then swipe Internet off Recent Apps.

Ahhh right, that's a bit disappointing........thanks for reply
Why not use the google search app or widget to search... it will open the browser
Close all tabs, open home page. Close browser and it should pop up next time you open browser. That's what I had to do

[Q] how to force the use of a selected app avoiding choice menu

Hi to you all.
I am not using the default browser or the default calendar.
However, each time I open an internet link it asks me which browser to use and if it is punctual or permanent.
When I select permanent it directs me towards settings/general/applications by default.
When I go there, I only find the choice between Touchwiz and Nova my launcher, nothing on browser choice (or Calendar for which I have same issue): no other menu...
Could someone advise where I got it wrong?
Thanks a lot

usually if should ask which app to use and give a choice of always or just once. What country is yours from? maybe it is a regional thing.
