How tight is that case you have fitted

It's just a silicone one I found on amazon not tight at all

Warranty exchange. explain to them what happened they should replace it.
Thats pretty scary tho. this D30 case is pretty tight.

Looks like your Digitizer is starting to crack Good luck on getting it replaced that could be a very expensive fit, That is if they can even find that part
Being a SuperAmoled That part alone is probably atleast $200USD

DirectFix advertises HOS digitzer glasses for $50, and the complete digitizer & LCD unit for $170 (they also show you how to replace them).
I wouldn't want to do it myself, but the parts seem to be out there.

yea i mean honestly i didn't do anything so im just gonna call tmobile and get them to send me a new one and this back if anything i guess they'll charge me 75 bucks if they find out its cracked or water damaged or anything cause i have warranty from them for it but i just wanted to know if it happened to anyone else like that cause it'd be kind of an issue if the phones are just randomly cracking you know ? lol

Be careful about that because usually it will be categorized as physical damage if there is a crack on the screen. Make sure you let them know that you didn't drop it or anything and tell them to memo your account that too.

Dust Under the Screen

Well, guess what? My MT4G is about five hours old and there is already a spec of dust under the screen. On the phone with T-Mobile right now to do a swap. Why can't HTC figure out this dust issue? How hard is it to glue a phone together?
Update: T-Mobile had no problem swapping it for a brand new device because it was so new. Even after that dust under the screen is covered under the one year warranty.
I would just return it, I doubt that many have this problem.

A new one is on the way. I'm hoping this is not like my Nexus. Either way, that's what warranties are for.

Are we talking about extended warranty here? If so, sorry to burst your bubble, but the regular one year manufacturer's warranty will cover this also -- without having to shell out that extra $6 a month
I had grey specks under my screen and I made her the exchange the phone.. the sales girl (a teen ager!) said she didnt see anything, but when I showed it to her in the sun she said "I would never notice that" (like I as being anal! LOL!)
It was the WHITE version...
I've seen other reports of this too. Best to inspect well upon receipt or in store before leaving.
Mine appears to have an issue with the FFC - it looks to be off center to the right. Works fine, but a QC issue for a phone the caliber of this and not impressive for HTC.

I had a single spec of dust under the screen, upper left corner. the girl in the store saw it as soon as I showed a white screen. exchanged it for a new one right in the store, no questions asked.
manufacturing defect? I guess. hope the screen doesn't have some gap that allows in lint because I carry the thing in my pocket all the time.
yep...got a mytouch 4g/hd today aswell. didnt get a chance to play with it until now, about 6 hours later. Smack dab in the middle was what i thought was a dead pixel. upon further inspection its a particle of dust or whatever. super super annoying. i have to exchange the phone and hope this one doesnt have this problem.
any way of removing this foreign particle w/o voiding anything?

Mine is the same, but it doesn't bother me.
I got my mt4g yesterday. First thing I did was look for dust under the screen. Had another mt4g on the way within an hour of getting my first one. The bad part is I got my phone direct from Tmobile so I have to wait for it to arrive. On the brightside they did free express this time.
Anyone got any images showing this? I dont see anything on mine but its only a few hours old and I got it late at night and I'm so tired I'm not even inspecting it that much at the moment. Will go over it tomorrow.
i use to work on LCDs. Basically the clean room wasn't that clean when they were putting on the polarized layer. There is not anything practical you can do to fix it.
Anyone know who the OEM for the LCDs are?
never had that problem with any of my htc's

I never buy the extended warranty but I do get insurance. Considering how many times I've used it, it's been worth it.

No this is a QC issue. There are gaps between the metal bezel that surrounds the glass and the rubbery material that covers up the sides of the phone. The dust/lint that got under my screen was definitely from the device being in my pocket.
I solved this by getting a nice case from T-Mo ($35 but it's sexy) to cover the exposed area. Haven't had a problem since.
I was going to get a mytouch 4g to play with until the nexus s came out. I played with one at t-mobile store and nothing really impressed me. After reading the mytouch 4g thread it sounds like HTC is still making crappy phones. Sounds like the same N1 issues all over again. We used hairdryer to heat up the glass then press the screen back down. I had to do this will all three of my N1's.

Crappy phone? It's one of the best Android phones out right now. There are a FEW people having issues. Happens with every cell. Guess the MT4G isn't for you. I'm loving it!
I also have found a spec of dust it doesn't bother me but I'm worried that it'll get worse over time

I have the tiniest, most annoying lint particle underneath my screen. As of now it is located far left. Seems as if it could make its way to smack dab in the center of my screen though. Kinda sucks but its so tiny you only notice it in full contrast to a white background if you really focus.
a single grey speck of dust in the top right corner, near the clock. Thought it was a dead pixel, but its there even when the phone is off. can only see it if I look really hard into that spot

Insane Problems with the Inspire

Yea, I cracked the screen.
It looks like a baseball thrown at a windshield, and I have a screen protector on.
How much does this cost to get fixed...lol?
Any chance you have the insurance?
I know that with iPhones/Pods, unless you do it yourself it's not worth it.
Try to get insurance if you don't have it. Also, work with your carrier and see if they are willing to help you. Sorry you got cracked.
Yea I can't see the screen at all now, just a little light.
But it works, is charging and shows up in adb. No insurance except maybe homeowner's insurance.
You broke it, better buy a new one. Self accountability.
Looks like you're looking at $52 from ebay...if you're in the US.
I've read a couple of threads here that HTC will replace the screen for 145ish

Glass near search button

Its pressable and loose there is there a way to fix this? Its near the edge. I heard if you put something heavy on it overnight the adhesive will reattach.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Mine is also somewhat loose, but it is like that on purpose. Flexibility is key if you do not want your screen to crack even easier. If your screen is completely rigid it will not survive a fall as well as a flexible screen.
HTC made it that way, I believe.

Well that technique might work. Obviously you'd want to put a piece of cloth in between the phone and the object you're using as a weight.
Or, if it's on the edge as you say, one of those wooden clothes pins, or other type of spring clamp (I'd go easy on that option, some of those clamps are powerful and could be too much.)
I don't know how permanent this method would be in the long run, especially when hotter whether comes around. If the adhesive was poorly applied in the first place, or if the adhesive was of a weak batch at the factory, the problem, it seems to me, will just resurface.
Though it's a PITA, the only 100% successful fix is a warranty replacement.

I just tried pushing down in the area on my phone, and I see what you're saying.
There's a flexibility, but it's uniform -- it will flex slightly anywhere along that edge that I press.
Without more detailed info from the op, it's hard to tell whether this is what he's referring to, or, since he did indicate "near the search button," whether the just that corner is lifting noticeably compared to the others.

There is actually thread about this already, but I will say something. I had this problem, except mine grew worse and now the bottom middle of the screen has lifted just like the edge. I have been fighting with ATT to replace my phone under warranty since I don't want to wait 2 weeks on htc. I had to threaten to cancel all my ATT services and report them to the bbb on their face book page before some one from corporate contacted me. Now they are over nighting me a referbed.

It is actually a manufactures defect, according to both the htc reps I talked to, but believe me it is a hassle to get att to do anything. They wanted me to pay 125 for insurance or 399 for a refurb. I was like are you f***ing serious? You want me to pay the "new" price for a refurb phone under warranty when I already payed out of contract price, and the phone came from the manufacture that way..Any way long story short after a few threats of cancellation and a 3-way call with htc, they told me to drive an hour and a half to a device support center, and gave me a 25 dollar credit... This pissed me off even more, so I ranted on their face book and some one from corporate told me to email them and now they are replacing my phone.

I just now noticed it on mine as well. Mine isn't even noticable unless you're trying to press on it and feel it "press down", but even then it barely moves. There is an adhesive layer underneath and I imagine just applying some heat from a heat gun may re-attach the glass to it.
Well just got my referb in the mail, screen still does the same, but no where near what the old one did. The old one would flex half the bottom left of the screen and cause major discoloration. Just reflashed the old one now to root the new one XD. Btw the sent it out today and I got it today.. sweet..

Wow. The new one does the same? This was an ATT-based refurb?
If so, now I'm REALLY convinced ATT doesn't do **** to the refurb phones to fix them prior to resending out the phone to another customer for a warranty replacement. Captivate reburbs were/are dog****.
The least they can do is check to see the phone they are sending out as a replacement doesn't have the same problem as the phone they are replacing.
Hope you don't have to go through this crap again. Remember what you, yourself said, the other one just got worse.
HTC may be the only true solution.

Well if the last phone is any sign about this one. I will have already upgraded to the holiday since my upgrade is this month and that's the phone I am waiting for, this will still have a warranty on it, so I won't have a problem sending it in for 10 days - 2 weeks to have it fixed completely. Right now I don't have a back up phone, since my blackberry took a poop which is why I bought this out of contract.

My screen is lifting as well. Luckily I am in the 30 day window, so I will likely unroot and exchange for another one. I can't go back to my Aria now that I have experienced the Inspire. I'll cross my fingers that I get one that doesn't have the issue.
Thankfully I'm not noticing anything wrong with any of my corners of my inspire, but I really should get some type of screen protector for this phone, I'm starting to notice some very small lines on the glass, I guess they were right when they mentioned that the glass can't be scratched by a key, but can be easily scratched by small dust.

On my new Inspire you can just see the corner move a little when you press it. I guess I'll keep an eye on it. If it gets worse in the first thirty, I could always take it back to the Shack. Maybe get a red one to replace it.

I'm sure you can scratch it with a key. Metal is metal. It will eventually abrade anything except another metal that is harder than itself.
It's not standard "on the shelf" dust. It's the dust of materials that are hard enough to have abrasive qualities that are going to scratch things.
I've had my phone since March 2nd, heavy usage every day. Never had a screen protector. Around all sorts of potential damaging particulates. ZERO scratches, scuffs, or marks of any kind.
Always kept in a felt lined belt holster. Never set down with screen facing down. Never put it in my pocket, no matter if the pocket is empty or not.
Obviously, dropping the phone is a whole other scenario, but aside from that, it's all in the care and handling...

[Q] Is my warranty void?

So I just got the One X on monday and later in the day I noticed it making loud clicking noises while focusing in the camera, sometimes causing it to unfocus. It was super annoying so I decided I was gonna replace it. Except yesterday I dropped it, and now it has tiny scratches on the corner of the body. Is there any way I can get it replaced? Because I read phsyical damage voids the warranty

Try it...bring it back to the store
I tried today but it was out of stock at 3 AT&T stores in New York Since I have 30 days I'll probably wait until next weekend. It'd be nice if someone knows if they'll make a big deal over small marks though.
Here's a pic http://i.imgur.com/5e8Xx.jpg
I assume you are with AT&T. You can still return it within 30 days and cancel the contract upgrade. If you want to replace it, you may have a hard time finding a store that has it now.
You think they'll accept it despite there being slight physical damage?
Might say the drop caused the issue you are having. Did you purchase the insurance?

if under warranty like sprint replacement insurance they will replace if its damaged or stolen as long as you pay deductible...
if you dont want to do that or dont have a warranty... you can go to ebay search your phone and get the digitizer/glass. you wont need lcd part unless you break it in the process. i found most phones easy to repair just take the time to take it apart and look up a guide on youtube or google. be careful because phones like the iphone have ribbons that they WANT customers to damage and make it fragile so that they can make more money.
apple is only company i heard of that actually has its charges for repair based on model size (ie 32gb vs 64gb)... or maybe they stopped doing this... doubt it tho...
You can't really "remove" it (in the sense of restoring it to how it was before - but I'm sure you knew that), just make it less noticeable. Methods to "remove" scratches rely on either only the coating being scratched (and being able to abrade it to be more even) or being able to "fill in" the scratch with something.
You have to be careful, if your device has any kind of special coating on it, certain methods can actually make it look worse - so check that out before you try anything.
You can possibly replace the glass, but look up what you have to do to separate the glass from the digitizer - it can be a royal pain. Was thinking of repairing a phone this way to get one cheap, but it was such a fuss that I decided to spend more on a not-broken one. Might be worth it to you if it bothers you enough and you get a screen protector after going through with that hassle.
Screen protectors 4 lyfe.

Unfortunately it is no longer under warranty. Also if I shipped it out, this is my only phone so I don't know what I'd do in the mean time. I have a Galaxy Nexus if that helps at all
I was hoping someone knew of some sort of polish or DIY sort of thing I could do to make it a little less noticeable. Maybe I just need to try that toothpaste trick. After all, how much damage can toothpaste do to a phone?

I'm not sure how much the scratch is really bothering you, but I have managed to resurface a couple of my touchscreen devices, and it works more often than not. It's a product called Diamondite and it's intended for automotive applications, but it has worked wonders for me on glossy screens of my tablets and smartphones. It's a cream abrasive that you apply and then buff off to a shine. Just from experience, following the application of it, it would be wise to invest in a screen protector....
