Hello,
I'm a trainee on a high tech company. since last week I'm on an observation about implementing 5.1 multichannel audio on Android device, once I saw there's a CHANNEL_OUT_5POINT1 enum on AudioFormat Class.
Is that possible to implement it on Android device?
Thanks in advance

I am sure you could do it (in fact some devices have "5.1 emulations") but you would need the speaks on the device..and really unless its a big old tablet you wouldn't benefit much seeing as the speakers would be so close

Does anyone more familiar with DLNA requirements know if this will be exclusive to the LG phones for hardware reasons or will this same app be able to work on phones from, say, HTC? This sounds like it could potentially be a great feature with my Onkyo DLNA AVR. Could be a deciding factor for me in which phone I ultimately decide on.
As i understand it LG developed it together with Microsoft and is only available on LG phones. If it will show up on other phones later i don't know but we can sure hope so. Right now i would buy the LG just because of that feature.

I think so, unless another phone has the DLNA hardware. LG is great! If you have a LG tv, stereo, surround system you can control them all with any LG remote. Im willing to bet that if you have a LG tv you won't have to set up your phone or tv to use the app.
Oh so it is a hardware issue? I thought hopefully, just maybe, it would just be software... damn, I really like the surround. Wish it had dlna
There's no such thing as DLNA hardware.
Awesome, that's what I was hoping. So all that is needed is wi-fi. Theoretically, this should be able to be ported from the LG to any wp7 device, correct? If that's the consensus, it will make my decision much easier.
It may/will be ported when/if WP7 is jailbroken. Apart from that, DLNA isn't something that belongs to LG and can't be done by someone else. When Microsoft provides access to socket APIs there may be third party solutions.
Dlna is using wifi it has nothing to do with any kind of hardware , and it havebeen ported to hd2 with Dhd android port
So I can connect my phone to my tv wireless now?
Damn thanks for the info! I thought I needed one of those players.

Your TV must support DLNA.
I knew DLNA wasn't proprietary to LG (my Onkyo receiver, Samsung blu-ray, and wmp11 all have it), I just don't really know how the internal phone stuff works like drivers and stuff so I wasn't sure if it would ever work even after the imminent jailbreak. HTC Surround, here I come! Thanks for selling me on it guys!
but if you have windows 7 that could be a stand in
Any way to side-load "play to" to a Samsung Focus yet?
I have to check it out at some point. I have LG.
I can sideload Play To to my Focus, but when I start the application, it's always said that I need the update my OS to the latest version (and I''m on 7392 at that time).
I can search for DLNA device, but since I don't have any DLNA device, I don't know if it's worked or not. Can I use my Windows 7 laptop ??
I found a thread on the OnePlus forums that states there is no mention of aptX support for the One. I know that has something to do with Bluetooth streaming but that's pretty much all I know. Does this mean the OPO may not be able to stream music via Bluetooth in my car? Is it more dependent on my car's hardware? (I've got a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, for the record, and I've tried to google it with no success.) If it can't, even at $350, I'll have to pass. That's a non-negotiable for me. Can someone with more knowledge on the subject please chime in? Thanks.

Aptx is a new codec for Bluetooth audio. Most devices don't even support it right now. As long as as A2DP and AVRCP are supported you should be fine. I don't think cm supports aptx but aptx isn't related to whether or not you can steam music in your car.

Yeah. Probably even your sonata sound system doesn't support aptx codec.
A bit more info.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AptX
I would be curious though if the oneplus one supports aptx. I'm thinking probably not.

According to the Oneplus Forums it doesn't. However my 3 year old HTC One X does, so APTX definitely isn't that new.
This is going to make me rethink about whether I actually want this phone or not....
Google isn't bringing up any recent information on this topic here, other than a general consensus that the opo *probably* doesn't have aptx. But some mentions that it might be add able? Any ideas on this? Or further information that my Google-fu missed?
I didn't really care before, but I've got a high end Bluetooth speaker coming in the mail, it supports aptx, and so I'm curious thanks all!

My friend has the same exact car as you and my OnePlus One running CM12 nightlies works perfectly fine via bluetooth. This includes streaming music and answering calls for me.

That's pretty cool! Yeah the Bluetooth should work fine for most things, but what's being discussed now is higher quality Bluetooth, a special codec called 'aptx'. Bluetooth should work fine without it, but just standard quality only.
To clarify things Herr.
Aptx is a propyitary codec by CSR. BT devices supporting aptx also work without.
However Theres a major difference in audio lag and quality.
Aptx is way supirrior over regular BT IF your sound device is good enought or you wanna watch movies.
On cheap speakers you probably won't hear much difference. On high end headphones you will never go back to regular BT once you had aptx.
That said only a handful of manufacturer support it. Also cyanogen doesn't.
Its not only software but also hardware.
BTW its not just a codec running over the a2dp its a replacement of a2dp
It has almost not lag so watching movies sint a pia and the lowlatency aptx variant has practically no lag
Aptx was initially for pro. BT devices like wireless mics and monitor phones on a production level (studio, concert ...) and sadly there's no alternative right now even close to its performance

Generally it's implemented in software on the phone (or PC) and hardware in the receiver (headphones, car, etc.) really depends on the processing power available on either end. With that in mind it is technically feasible to deploy support to existing phone, it just needs to be licensed and coded into the platform.
There seems to be aptX working on Oneplus One but you have to use Lineage 14

Hello. I love MX player. It supports a very wide range of file types and codecs. I have recommended this product to numerous people. For me, the premium upgrade is a bargain and I am happy to pay it.
Having said that..... there is one thing that I am struggling with. Does this player offer any type of video out capabilities?
In particular, I have a Dragon Touch A1X android tablet running 4.4 firmware. The MX player works great on this device. However, it does have a mini-HDMI port on it, and I would love to be able to cast from the tablet to my HD television set.
Can someone please educate me on what is the best way to accomplish this........ or if it is even possible at all?
Thanks in advance.

Mirroring is handled by the Android system. Casting, there's a pinned thread on this topic, you should read that.
Hi guys. After I upgraded to Android Nougat I started to miss out on a little something the SD805 has, which is the Support for Hi-res 24bit / 96khz, or even 192khz. But after some updates of the BHB27 kernel this wonderful support has been lost both in the current RR 6.0.1, as in any ROM based on the nougat android. I would like to know if anyone knows any way to recover this support. I have heavy songs in FLAC format here that require this kind of support. Thank you very much for your attention.
Sorry for my bad English.

Hi Everyone.
I am curious as to why Dual Audio seen on Samsung Galaxy flagships is not really found on other brands or Samsung's mid-rangers. I have a few portable BT speakers and it would be really nice to combine their sound for a more room filling experience.
Dual Audio was first introduced on the S8 along with Bluetooth 5. It is touted as a BT5 feature, but as Gary from Android Authority explains, the advancements of BT5 is only applicable to BTLE and supported devices. Samsung's Dual Audio works with devices that stream over BT Classic.
I am thinking that a BT5 radio in a source device has the hardware capability to stream audio to two devices over BT Classic. This makes me think that Dual Audio is a software implementation which can be done through the driver or an app. Speaking of which, Tempow developed a BT profile, TAP, which can do Dual Audio. Motorola and TCL has adopted TAP into their phones.
There are suggestions that Samsung has 2 BT radios in their devices to enable Dual audio, but I don't think it's likely, since Tempow seems keen on bringing their TAP to the masses with nothing to suggest a 2 radio requirement.
So now I am really curious about why it isn't implemented on more phones? Or better yet, on custom ROMs?
Hello i m trying to search the same question i have a old j4 plus that have dual audio but the half off the screen is busted

Same, i have tried various threads and sites but nowhere there's answer for this....
No developer have worked on it since 2017, there are requests over this feature but no help over it till now.
I'm waiting for it
