Hello. I love MX player. It supports a very wide range of file types and codecs. I have recommended this product to numerous people. For me, the premium upgrade is a bargain and I am happy to pay it.
Having said that..... there is one thing that I am struggling with. Does this player offer any type of video out capabilities?
In particular, I have a Dragon Touch A1X android tablet running 4.4 firmware. The MX player works great on this device. However, it does have a mini-HDMI port on it, and I would love to be able to cast from the tablet to my HD television set.
Can someone please educate me on what is the best way to accomplish this........ or if it is even possible at all?
Thanks in advance.

Mirroring is handled by the Android system. Casting, there's a pinned thread on this topic, you should read that.

Greetings all! I've been using an Android smartphone for several months and have been watching the tablet scene develop with interest. I'm considering a Honycomb tablet with a docking station as a partial replacement for a laptop. So, I'm wondering, with the introduction of Android tablets featuring keyboards/docking stations that have USB ports (I'm thinking specifically of the Asus Transformer here), does Honeycomb currently support the use of USB-connected external DVD or Blu Ray drives? Is this something we may see in the future? Thanks for your input.
I'm wondering the exact same. That is the only thing that is preventing me from selling my laptop. Everything else can be done on the tablet.
Why aren't you ripping to DIVX or a similar format, and then streaming over the network, or using a usb memory stick?

For me, it's mostly the time constraints of ripping and legal stuff that prevents the DivX route. Streaming is possible, but not for hard copy media.
Hello, Rufus:
I am new to the XFormer so I am not familiar with the formats it supports (I'm hoping mine will arrive tomorrow!) for videos - could you please elaborate more on DIVX - is it as simple as ripping from the DVD to a folder in DIVX format, then moving that folder to an HDD?
Thanks in advance,
Sparky

I'm interested in this as well. I'd like family members to be able to view BD on their transformer. They aren't capable of ripping BDs themselves.
I know it's a huge disappointment that HTC didn't put in a HDMI port, something that didn't bother me until recently.
I know for a fact that DLNA works great for streaming videos and photos taken on my phone to my TV, even on CM7.
I also just recently saw those youtube videos of guys using their Evo 4gs as their desktop, and wondered if there was a way for this to be accomplished on our phones. I was mainly thinking there was some way to work some magic over DLNA, and then bluetooth speakers, mouse and keyboard for the rest.
Anyone know if this is possible at all or even semi possible?
(I tried to search before posting but the search was down)
I'm also looking for an answer to this
I would like to see some idea on this too. I guess we're in the minority.
I agree as well, this is something I would be interested in. I remember when I bought my previous phone (nokia 5800 XM). I was quite excited about it's video out function, only to find it's composite analog video out to be wanting.
When I was trying to decide between inspire and the Atrix, a big deciding point for me was the untested nature of the dual core, and so far I like the results of my choice, the 2nd gen snapdragon has plenty of ooomph to play my highly compressed x264 mkvs and the battery is somewhat reasonable, however the screen mirroring is something I would really be interested in, surely with the gpu/cpu combo in place some kind of solution could be put into place, it doesn't take that much bandwidth to push a 2d desktop worth of images, especially with modern network speeds.
Here's hoping!
I am really hoping for a way to do this too. That new crackle app would be a lot nicer if I could watch it on my tv.

I was searching for it too, but no luck.... Hope someone gets hands on this
I'm also looking for a way to mirror the screen of my sony tablet S to the TV set - via dlna?
would be cool to hear from someone with dlna related developement experience.
They say it's not even possible to make a screenshot on android without root permissions. (no, please dont start a discussion about screenshots now, explaining how wrong I am
Dude, I think you've got the wrong section, this is the INSPIRE 4G SECTION.
hope someone posts a tutorial
no matter what section. the problem is the same on all dlna capable devices.

Im looking for a good alternative for my Dad to watch streaming movies/tv from his room
Hes not greatly tech savvy. I like the ideas of the MK808 but to find any concise information is hard it seems.
How easy is it to get working from a phone, meaning using his smart phone to control and be able to type from his phone?
Will he be able to use the full website version of Hulu Plus?
How hard is it to flash a new ROM? I see Finless mentioned a lot, Im assuming this is probably the best rom for the type of device?
He will probably only really use it for watching netflix and hulu, maybe the occasional web search.
Now if I were to get one for me however, how well does it handle uhhh lets say "adult situations" I just got a Note 3, how will it stack up?
Any info would be great, what experiences do you guys have personally with android sticks?
+1
Got XBMC installed on my nvidia shield tablet but does anyone know if there is a way to get DTS or Dobly Digital bypass to work?

I too hope someone has a solution for this, I was really pissed off when I realize that the tablet could only output Stereo.
Why make a tablet that can double as a Console/Media Station and not support DTS or Surround.

i was thinking about getting one, but if it cannot do DTS, then there is no hope for DTS-HD then
Streaming to plex gives also only stereo out. Very bad.
This is typical with nvidia its same when using hdmi on their desktop GPU's
Just search online nvidia HDMI 2 channel
Might want to bring it up on their forum

Ahhh for real I just got a shield tablet lastnight and im running XBMCHUB install right now so I didnt get a chance to try it yet. But I cant believ this wont be fixed soon even ouya updated to allow passthru a few OTA's ago and nvidia is sooooooo much more capable then ouya. Ill keep my fingers crossed, otherwise im loving this tablet. But my favorite part of a new device is always the initial setup/tryout phase I think I have more fun optimizing and solving problems then I do actually using these things.
I tried brining this up on the forum, but a lot of people defended Nvidia saying it was the App developers fault?!
Saying the fault lied with Netflix, Plex and others. Even though these apps work fine on other devices...
One person claims he was able to get it to work with MX Player.
I have a hard time believe that, as I've also tried MX Player, with AC 3 and DTS file, none of them worked.
Could there be some truth to this? If the Tablet manufacturer decided to cheap out an not included hardware decoding for AC 3 and DTS, could Software manufacturer patch it in software?
Though, since I paid 300$ for the damn tablet, I don't see why it would be up to every damn app manufacturer to have to pay for the DTS and AC 3 license and could see why they would never do...
Perhaps if my tablet is rooted, I could install something to cheat this...

i dont belive there is, i belive its a license the nvidia may not want to pay.
HTMC was released on the play store and it seems to support DTS.
Playing DTS is not the problem, DTS and AC3 (Dolbly Digital) pass through is what this thread is about. Being able to connect your tablet to an av receiver and have DTS come out instead of stereo.
Hello,
I got MXQ Pro and I was highly disappointed!! No Bluetooth as advertised! Xbox controller doesn't work! SLOW like @### and other than playing media.. it's very slow to load even simple games. AV didn't work! anyways, big disappointed. I guess you get what you pay for!
So I looked around and I see there at other makes like T8 PRO, Minix (few different models). Of course NExus player is no where to be found!
I want something that I can connect bluetooth controllers/keyboard/mice and play android games, use it for media playing using kodi. nice smooth box.
Anyone has a good experience with a box that can do all of the above? and is proven with personal experience? I can't trust the reviews anymore as they were good for the MXQ pro and it turned out crap.
Thank a lot.

Is this what they call reverse advertising otherwise known as radvertising? In essence getting the general public to advertise for your product ?
