Hi all,
I have a Bell HTC Sensation 4G, unlocked and using Rogers. After installing the ICS OTA update, I have been having problems opening message threads using the stock message app (third-party, e.g., Handcent SMS is okay).
In particular, I have difficult opening a message thread that has ~4.5k messages, while threads with 1.5k or less open fine. I have tried restoring backed up SMS messages using the "SMS Backup & Restore" app, as well as the functionality built into the stock message app.
I have tried doing a hard reset, and restoring the SMS messages in the 2 ways I mentioned above. I have tried only restoring the 4.5k message thread using SMS Backup & Restore.
If I don't attempt to restore the SMS messages back, the functionality seems to be okay.
Is there a way to restore my SMS messages and have proper messaging functionality, without resorting to using a third-party app for subsequent messaging?
Thanks in advance!

As one7dchevy already stated, SMS Backup and Restore is a great app (which is also free) to use for saving your SMS when switching ROMs. You can also use Backup to GMail, which not only backs up SMS, but will also backup MMS and your Call Log if you don't mind the $1.99 fee (a bargain in my book).
I had the same thing happen when using TiBu but they showed up a lil later, I think after a reboot.

That is what usually happens after i restore the data. I do a reboot then then all my texts would all be there

Hey guy's
I restored 33000 SMS with SMS Backup & Restore.
I selected it as the default SMS application, restored my SMS and get back to Handcent SMS as the default SMS application.
Everything seem's to be here but when i enter in a conversation (the biggest for example), blackScreen, nothing loads. I think kitkat doesn't like so many SMS.. but why? JB liked it
an idea? (I already cleared cache and data of each application)

So this is all I could find regarding an issue a friend of mine is having.
Fully stock Nexus 5 using GOSMS for messaging.
The messages show up in notification, but don't show up inside the SMS threads.
Eventually they appear, but not always.
Also their messages don't auto sort into the order they are received.
Re-installing didn't fix that, installing another sms app didn't sort it either.
Any suggestions short of doing a full wipe ?

Latest Updates.
How about on the stock messaging app or on Hangouts?
So I have two Kitkat enabled devices my Galaxy S4 (i9505) and the LG G2, now I have been using SMS Backup and restore (SBR shortend) on a scheduled basis to backup these devices, Yesterday I decided it was time to update both roms and relied on SBR to sort out the messages on both like I had done previously on Jellybean.
However when restoring these messages they all have the same received information.
My SMS client is chompSMS however I have downloaded a few alternatives to see if it was a chomp issue, it was not. So then I proceeded to restore my CWM backup which sorted all this out and tried out a few different SMS backup tools in addition to SBR to see if it was an issue there, again nothing.
Now I'm desperate to restore the time stamps on the main conversation windows for organisational purposes.
The weird thing is if I enter the messages the timestamps from within the message conversations are all correct, they are just being displayed incorrectly in the main conversation list (the one that details the messages from individual contacts)
It appears that this is an issue with Kitkat specifically due to restrictions, I've tried the xposed plugin AppopsXposed and still no luck.
Can anyone help me sort all this out please, it would be greatly appreciated
Having a strange problem since yesterday. Been using GoSMS Pro for ages, together with its emoticon package. Yesterday I wanted to send a message with only one emoticon. I started writing the SMS and put the emoticon, then pressed back to do something else on the phone, so the message ended up in Drafts. Since then, the messaging app is stuck. The app starts fine and I can read all texts and see the draft message with the emoticon, but I cannot write or send new messages, nor receive them. When someone send a SMS to my phone, the delivery notification says it has been receiced by my phone. The button for creating a new message in the stock app is greyed out, and so are the text input area, send and attach buttons. The delete button also is greyed out, hence I cannot delete any messages, including the draft message with the emoticon. I tried this both on the stock app and GoSMS app with the same result. I am not allowed to set default SMS app either.
I run Titanium Backup every night, so I have a backup of previous text messages. Tried restoring the data to no avail. Uninstalled all GoSMS apps. Deleted cache and data of the messaging app. Connected the phone to MyPhone Explorer via PC. When I try to delete the draft message, it says I have to make MyPhone Explorer default message app which the phone won't let me do. Still same problem.
My "setup":
Samsung Galaxy S4
Latest stock ROM for NEE, 4.4.2
Rooted and Philz Touch
Xposed
Please help if you can! Thanks.
