Lost Root after TMOUS OTA ICS Upgrade -- how to get it back? - HTC Sensation

Hello -- I had full root access and was using Senso-Maniac for a few months; I reverted back to stock; all if fine but I now lost root. Is it safe to perform the same procedures (I beleive I just replaced the ROM before) as it is after the T-Mobile ICS Update? What are the procedures?? THANK YOU!

its simple. you read and follow instructions.

Check this thread, it should fix you right up. Look for my post, also a quick search would have found it. I meanthe name of the thread is Root ICS, lol.

Unroot problem can any one help?

HereĀ“s my problem:
I've rooted my WW TF with One-Click Universal root, using ubuntu, for stock firmware and everything went ok. Now i want to unroot with unroot features of one-click and my TF doesn't unroot.
I don't want to use unroot wiping data, just want to undo the root by one-click back to my stock.
Can anyone help me?
P.S.: I've done search and didn't find any similar problem, neither in any thread inclusively in the original thread.
Well.... as said in previous post after trying to unroot with various methods still saying i had root i tryed to do the update, even nowing that the OTA probably went wrong....
But guess what? i did the update all went ok, didn't lose my programs and get the Supernote!
I've lose root, though.

Help with my Rogers Infuse 4g

I am a noobie that is true. I recently rooted my phone because the gpps was not working and the steps to improve gps did not work. It may be that my phone is defective.
So I went to the thread that detailed how to unroot my phone and bring it back to stock but it is confusing to me.
Here is my dillemma:
"Okay so from the help of GTG I removed the Root off the stock rom."
What is GTG??
There are a list of things to do. Do you all of them?
1. INFUSE 4G -- BACK TO STOCK 2.3.3 GINGERBREAD METHOD --
2. RETURN TO UXKG3 KERNEL:
3. MAKE SURE VOODOOLAG FIX IS DISABLED!
So, what do I do? It is a bit cryptic and I need a fairly detailed step by step to bring my phone back to stock.
Thanks!

So did you read the info and directions...?
Gtg is the name of the dev that put together the method and thread where you got your info from...
I took a gamble and figured that I just need to follow step 1. I am hoping that it works...
I did what the Odin steps detailed. factory reset my phone. Tried to remove Superuser and busybox but could not. Now what? Do I go to step 2. ?
I read through the thread on Rogers and the last post reads:
"Thanks, but I don't want to flash an unsigned kernel first, as that will void my warranty. I need a pure stock package because I'm just moving from non-root AT&T to non-root Rogers."
So does it really bring my phone back to stock? And if I can't remove Superuser and Busybox from system I can't return my phone to rogers.
Yes...

Ok I have tried countless times following the steps to bring my Rogers phone back its retail stock condition and I am not at all successful. Can someone who has done this please write the steps out in a manner that even a non developer could follow?
Basically what you are doing is the same thing as rooting the phone, but instead of the rooted kernel you are using the unrooted kernel (the second link in the root thread)
So it's like this:
Rooted Kernel = Odin_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1.zip
Stock Kernel = Odin_Stock_Rogers_UXKG3_Kernel.zip
they are both flashed the same way, through odin.
Before you start anything you have to make sure voodoo lagfix is disabled (check if there is a voodoo folder on your internal memory, check if there is a disable-lagfix folder inside. If not, make one)
What you want to do is flash the rooted kernel first, then the stock kernel. You then do as is said in the instructions:
Download Root explorer from market & locate and delete:
/system/xbin/su
/system/xbin/busybox
/system/app/Superuser
after that factory reset (settings > privacy > factory reset) and you will lose root and be completely stock.
I, myself am having trouble finding a working link to download:
Odin_Stock_Rogers_UXKG3_Kernel.zip
Does anyone know where I can download this, please?

Thanks! I was able to get my phone back to stock and started over. ICS is back on my phone. Hopefully this will be the last issue for a little while!

[Q] Looking to get to cwm recovery installed to obtain gingerbread

I've looked, I've tried. I apologize in advance if I am bothering anyone with my question.
My phone (Galaxy s 4g- T-mobile) has been rooted via oneclick. twice. The first time, I was running stock ota gingerbread 2.3.6 as soon as I rooted, CWM recovery was installed no problems. After switching roms a couple days after root... something went wrong! I fixed my brick using odin and got back to stock 2.2.1 which is where I am now, rooted.
I've attempted to use Kies (before root) No go.
I've attempted to use Odin to upgrade, No go.
I've attempted to use Hemidall. No go.
I've also attempted to do everything manually. -Download new kernel (to obtain cwm) and flashing from within the stock recovery, no go...
I've read, I've searched... I just can not seem to figure it out.
ANY help is appreciated...
Also! I've read something about getting a generic imei number through rooting/flashing/recovery and when I check for my imei under settings, I don't see one. But, I can use my phone no problems. and when I check via dial pad, It pops up.. I DID back up my esf when I first rooted, but no imei seems to be in it... idk
Thank you in advance. :fingers-crossed:
Read through the first and second link in my signature. Then use the second link to flash GB.
Thank you!! I am on GB finally! Now getting back to root... lol

[Q] On VRBMD3 rooted and unlocked - how to take MF1?

Usually the information I need I can find easily here, I've never had a need to register and post until today. I've searched but can't quite find the answer to my question. So I apologize in advance if my search skills have failed me this time.
I am on a VzW SGS3 that has taken the unfortunate MD3 update. I am rooted and unlocked already. I have ClockworkMod Recovery installed. Everything is as OK as MD3 can be. I had followed the instructions in this thread in the past:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
It appears the users in that thread are awaiting the MF1 bootchain from the latest posts and other users have tried to take the OTA MF1 update and got the dreaded triangle, were forced to reflash stock, take all the OTA updates and await the bootchain to unlock again.
So with that bit of background, my question is thus: what is the easiest way to take on new OTA updates without losing all my data?
I can flash a stock ROM someone made for MF1 but I'm pretty sure I lose data since the best way to flash ROM's is clean. I don't want to deal with dirty flash issues. Do I really have to go through and set up Nova Launcher (and other apps) just the way I like it again? Do I have to go through each app and backup settings (or use Titanium?) I don't really want to go stock, take all OTA's then use Casual just to get MF1 now. I think that would require clean install too and I can certainly wait as Casual doesn't really give you a choice of your root and recovery elements from what I understand.
This thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114 ) provides a nice stock image without losing any data. It's back to MB1, then one would take the OTA updates, then follow the rest of the guide to root and unlock. Still need to wait for the MF1 bootchain though - is THIS the best way?
Basically, what is the "best practice" when one is already rooted, unlocked and has a custom recovery to take on new OTA updates?

Just flash Scrosler's stock rooted ROM and you'll be good to go. You won't have any problems with not wiping (except for it might be a little itchy :laugh::silly
The best "practice" is not to take an OTA when you're rooted because chances are you will already be running it before it is out! Also, it is always a good idea to keep a backup of your apps with TiBu and use Nova to backup your desktop settings.
Thanks, I did just flash that ROM. However, my Baseband Version still shows MD3 (the Build number is MF1, however) and I still get the nag screen to take the OTA update. Not sure what to do here. I think for the time being, I'll just experiment with some other ROM's and see if I truly miss anything from Samsung.
Flash the MF1 firmware package after to get the radio.
Thanks. I did such and everything now says MF1 but this still doesn't seem ideal. My root seems to be missing (Secure Settings isn't working, I see ads in apps) and my superuser app is missing. So, perhaps I have to reload that and allow the other apps su access again? Additionally, I'm still getting nagged by the OTA update.
So before I flashed Scrosler's stock rooted ROM, I performed a backup of my current build using CwM. I didn't necessarily care for the results of the flash since I was still being nagged (not sure how to deal with that part yet) I just decided to restore my backup. Well that just screwed everything up since the /system portion wouldn't restore. Wonderful.
So I used Odin to load the no-wipe-necessary MB1 file, accepted all the subsequent OTA's (it was only two - the first one being the application of the MB1 update.zip) then just used the Casual root method on a machine with Java installed. Worked great. I'll think I'll just leave well enough alone until the next update.
OTA
I took the MF1 update OTA. Then I used the root method provided by open1your1eyes0 to root and unlock. Still waiting for the final boot gain though.

best way to update to 4.2

hello all i have the old 4.1 bootloader still on my tf300t. i have been hesitant to update to new bootloader. as i had no issues with cm10.1. well now as of the past month seems cm10.1 update to new bootloader. plus i see another update is out. i wanna get this thing up to date as far as root goes. but i dont see a definitive sticky on how to do this. can anyone point me in to one thread with all the info i seek.
Sup, kaos?
I think that the best solution would be to download the official release, unzip once, then flash in recovery. You then need to root it again, or use Voodoo Rootkeeper to get SU access.
Of course, you must be careful when searching for the correct recovery. I bricked my tab that way, but managed to restore it through another thread.
