Why would you Inspire people recommended the Inspire over the Atrix?
I'm kinda curious. I have seen the 1.8Ghz OC kernel, and Cyanogenmod 7 on the forums but haven't been able to find a video or anything. Can anyone compare this to the experience of a stock Atrix? I want to believe that a Inspire w/ CM7 @ 1.8Ghz would be scorchingly fast.
I'm sure the Atrix battery lasts nearly 2X the inspire overclocked like that, but I don't mind carrying around a 2nd battery for a phone. I always had 2 with my OG Droid
the fact that it doesn't have blurr should be the main reason. Alone the inspire is such a mod-able phone its not even funny. Performance wise from playing with a friends atrix and mine (not o.c.). Mine still ran smoother.
Its all about what the person wants. Specs or customization.
Not over clocked I get a good day day half of heavy use.
There have been a few devs who left the atrix for the inspire, the inspire has bigger dev community. As far as 1.8 goes, I don't think thats realistic for everyday performance. 1.5 is the performance sweet spot for most.
Sent from Desire HD or Inspire 4G or whatever this thing is called via premium XDA app.
I had an inspire, got rid of it BC I was a noob with android and the battery wasn't working out. Bought an atrix, and was disgusted after about a week to the point that I didn't care if the battery OJ the inspire was small - I just wanted it back. Sold my atrix, bought a new inspire and never looked back. The phone is seriously just 100 better. L
The kicker is that with certain custom roms, cm7 being the best, the battery life is equal to that of the atrix.

yeah i bought the Galaxy S because of the "specs" Let's just say i learned my lesson on that... For me it's all about the Dev Support, and as you can see the Inspire 4G has LOTS!!!
On a side note.. I actually checked which phone was supported by CyanogenMod before purchasing..
I believe that HTC is the way Android is meant to be..

$199 - Atrix
- 79 - Inspire4G
-------------
$129 Difference.
That's (2) weeks worth of Gasoline! That's what made up mind in a heartbeat!
Inspire vs Atrix
A stock Inspire runs very smoothly and very quickly. The Atrix is very fast because of the dual core processor, but that's pretty much it. Motoblur slows the phone down quite a bit and while it does seem to maintain it's responsiveness despite some lag, as I said it's still pretty laggy. HTC Sense isn't just an overlay on top of Froyo, it actually seems to enhance the experience of using an Android phone because everything seems to run so much smoother. Gaming on the Inspire isnt as good as it is on the Atrix because it's not dual core, but games for the most part run very smoothly (I've played quake 3 on mine with no issues). But yea, if you're just looking for speed, the Inspire is more than capable. It's already very fast underclocked, but its very fast overclocked as well.
This vid may help u decide if u should keep the Atrix or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmFKACFIu1s
Atrix disappoints
I work at a Best Buy and a lot of people bought the Atrix on release day at my store. I, however, wanted to wait and see, plus being a huge HTC fan the Inspire was really desirable (pun intended). So yeah I got an Inspire while one of my co-workers in the Geek Squad has an Atrix, and we go back and forth. "My resolution is higher!" he says, "My screen is more vibrant and larger" I say... Then his phone lags and doesn't scroll smoothly and I laugh. Speed test side-by-side I blow him out of the water, it really ticked him off when I connected his Atrix to my 3G hotspot and Speed tested quicker than his Atrix alone. Plus with the Atrix you have to rely on Motorola to release updates, and there is no way to put CM7 or another custom ROM (as of now due to encrypted bootloader)... Not to mention the version of 2.2 on there doesn't utilize the second core (if I am incorrect let me know). Sure he can hook it up to a TV and play around, but that isn't useful...
Get rid of the atrix. For a dual core phone that thing is a straight up embarrassment to Android. No ones kidding when they say the inspire is faster with no overclock. Doing side by side tests of inspire (stock) vs both atrixs I had, the inspire won EVERY speed test I gave it. With an overclock, its not even close.
And yes the atrix IS utilizing both cores with that version of froyo that's its shipped with, and with no possible way to ever flash a kernel, don't expect it to get much faster than it is right now
Edit- and my battery life actually isn't to bad at 1.8 surprisingly. It thought it was gonna be really bad, but it turned out to be pretty good.
Update:
Bought a brand new Inspire today!
Thanks for the input everyone!
PS. If anyone is interested in my Atrix it is for sale. $400

in terms of stock one of the reasons people prefer the inspire is because of the htc sense UI it gives a smoother and better experience with andriod
motorola's UI is lik a rip off of htc from wat ive seen of it at least

The Atrix is from Motorola, for the main reason. Blur is horrible and Motorola locks their phones down to where modding just isn't as plentiful as an HTC phone. On paper, the Atrix is a must-have device. But in reality, it is a buggy Motorola phone. The build quality of the Atrix seems to be excellent, though.

Its not great build quality. It does have some heft to it, but the back creaks and it is entirely plastic. The only good thing is the whole back can be replaced. The fingerprint sensors also aren't aligned or centered... they look like they were thrown in there.

I had both the inspire and the artix
my atrix experience wasn't terrible but that might have been because of the fact i was rooted running gingerblur the best rom out right now for the atrix... i enjoyed the atrix's great battery life and fingerprint scanner but the build quality wasn't good and felt cheap to me
in my opinion if your running a stock atrix with no intention of flashing a rom to it your going to get annoyed and bored of blur..
that being said sense isn't much better for me im much more a fan of stock android or miui actually is pretty good to. I would personally get rid of the atrix and try the inspire the screen is bigger and brighter in my opinion and has a lot more of rom development the atrix

QFT. I couldn't stand how badly my back cover creaked. Nothing about that phone screamed quality to me at all, software or hardware wise.
locked bootloader= no reason to buy EVER. Even with the cool dual core you can't overclock or do any cool **** w/ roms. On top of that motoblur is a piece of junk.
Hello XDA,
I currently have the HTC Aria (Rooted) and I was wondering if I should get the HTC Inspire 4G. I have been considering it for a while and my upgrade date is in a few months and I was wondering, is this a great phone?
In my opinion yes the Inspire is a great phone but if you still have to wait a few months; HTC has some new stuff coming down the pipe Dual core, 4.5" screens, Ect... Although by the time you upgrade the Inspire will more than likely be free while your other options will not. As for what AT&T has out there right now I would still pick the Inspire. Even if they would have not screwed up my change from Alltel and gave them to me for free to keep me happy.

I had the Aria and now have the Inspire. The difference in size and weight took some gettting used to, but the Inspire is a great phone with a much better selection of ROMs. I have no regrets whatsoever.
I agree with tmcfarland. I came from an aria and I love it. Plus there have been no problems getting used to it other then the size difference. Just be sure if you root to read everything through it is a little more involved than the aria but still very doable.

This is the best phone eva! Now seriously it is a pretty beastly phone, speeds are great, screen quality is great, data speeds are the best your going to get until LTE and the build quality is amazing along with DEV support. Thats all you need to know
my favorite phone so far! although my second best is the blackjack 2 so this is really in a different world.
camera is amazing too...
like its been said waiting will offer a newer htc phone but its prolly gonna cost you where as this inspire might be a free phone when your due
Thanks guys, I went to an At&t store in my area to check the phone out, it seems pretty cool. And does anyone suggest a specific ROM, I have been looking at some extremely great ones.
I have enjoyed Gingerbeast for a whole week already, world record fot me...but i would also recommend honeysense, 2.1 sense mixed with 3.0

I'm going against the grain here and not recommend this phone. I'm on my third phone. Im not hard on them at all. The speakerphone and freezing problems is why I returned the first one. The second one the screen totally went out. Both were stock. My current version is rooted and custom and so far no problems. It does drop calls but that may just be the service although never had q problem with my previous device. The battery is puny and you will need a charger with you at all times. I give the phone a 6 out of 10.

Hey, I'm almost always around a charger and my battery on my Aria isn't so great either, so do you see me complaining?
When will you have the phone? For now I would recommend trying something like miui, very much like iPhone and completely different from the other inspire roms.
Definitely try gingerbeast, super fast.

Tpgb is a great rom. I just got an inspire after having a captivate and my wife has an aria I would def get the inspire I thought my cappy was nice but the inspire blows it away. Im on tpgb rom now and my battery life is better than any cappy rom ive rver been on and it is ridiculously fast

Wait. I have the aria and 2 inspires and would tell you to wait. The phone has issues, but I will say I still love it. Looks like the sensation is coming to ATT and lord willing maybe the sgs2 . If you think battery life on the aria is bad your really in for a bad surprise with the inspire. They have the same size battery.
Performance wise the inspire is rock solid, on par with the dual core beasts. I can run the tegra and gameloft games without a hitch. But the cell signal, WiFi, and definetly Bluetooth performance is sub par. It is a phone afterall. The speaker is bad, unusable for videos without the volume apk. I honestly think the metal body is what hinders the radio. Most have issues with the screen, my two included. Hell a case can kill Bluetooth as can your Hand covering the side.
Not trying to poop all over our beloved gadget, just telling it like it is. Go into any if the forum here and ask the opinion of that phone. I promise you it will be 90% positive, except the atrix. Lol

I still use my Aria and I have the Inspire...The Aria is good in the car because I can control everything with one hand and my thumb...cant with the Inspire.
Its time to get a new phone and I haven't decided between the sensation & the g2x. So I ask, would you recommended the sensation? Please let me know why you would or would not.
Thanks

It's a great phone from my experience. Stock it's been extremely fast sense looks great. I'm more a vanilla person but even I have to admit it looks great. Also now that s-off is so close it will be a beast. As far as the g2x if you look in the general forums it seems like there's a lot of issues that need to be worked out still. I've never used one myself so this is only second hand info

I've answered this question a few times now, and without me loosing another 2 minutes typing it out, the long and short of it is YES (infact i do recommend this phone to clients all the time where i work) unless your not a fan of sense i can't think of any other reason why you would want to go with the galaxy s 2, plus there will be a 1.4ghz version of the Galaxy out sometimes either this or early next year too, or so i'm told.
Both are great just atm the sensation is more stable all around as long as you get a good one. Just look at my signature
G2X and Sensation 4G I love both
I had the sensation for just over a week now and i must say im super impressed. I was REALLY lucky tho, i have NO problems that i see all around the forum, like dust, i have no death grip issue and no response issues, the phone is real smooth.
I would get sensation over G2x just because higher amount of ram alone. Sensation is a very nice all around device.

Do what I did
Keep jumping between the sensation and GS2 forums, till you get nauseated and confused and your Blood Pressure is High
Weigh the pros and cons and decide what you want and then go for it..........
I had an HTC HERO AND HD7 so decided to give samsung a chance and boy I am happy.
You can upgrade the firmware in the SGS2 easily without rooting by a software called ODIN which is super brilliant.

If you read the OP, he isn't deciding between the GSII and the Sensation as it's not out for T-Mobile.
I have an HD7 and G2, and I'm really happy with my G2. I just picked up a Sensation last week to check it out and wow, I'm very, very pleased with it. I had an N1 before the G2 and got the G2 mainly for the keyboard, but I may end up ditching my G2 and going back to an all-touchscreen Android device for the Sensation. Awesome, awesome phone. Can't WAIT to get it rooted.
Before getting the Sensation, I read up on both it and the G2x. The number of posts floating around regarding people having issues with the G2x and going through several returns really turned me off of it.
I have both phones and I use my Sensation as my daily driver. It has a nicer display and is faster than my G2X once I put ADW on it. It always loaded apps faster, browsed the internet faster and loaded maps faster. I like the Sensation better and think its the all around best phone out of the two mentioned.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
Gotta agree w/JR above. I had the G2X for several days then bought a Sensation. The 4.3 vs 4.0 screen is a huge difference IMO. Plus, as others have said, Sense 3.0 really is much better than previous versions. I'm glad I switched.
I owned both. The g2x for the first month and now the sensation since June 8th. I prefer almost everything about the HTC, aside from the lack of root and roms currently

I got my sensation two weeks ago.My brother has g2x rooted with his phone overclocked to 1200 his benchmark scores are higher on every test except for sd card read and write my unrooted sensation has higher scores then his both with class 2 8 gig cards. Both tested with sutu benchmark.I lost a my touch 4g rooted with a class 4 sd card. The my touch 4g rooted is twice the phone as my unrooted sensation but I think when we will be able to get s off it will be one of the best phones on the market just my two cents.
It's a great phone Go get it!
AnTuTu Benchmarks my bad.
Hi all, please don't start havin a go at me cos I'm in a situation that after I choose one, I have to stick with.
Ok here goes, I currently have a galaxy s2 which I got 3 weeks ago on a 2 year contract.
Although I'm happy overall with the phone, I really miss sense and some other stuff that htc offer.
Before my galaxy s2 I had a desire hd and was really happy with it.
Now...my girlfriend gets her upgrade in 2 weeks but she is willing to let me have it just as long as I sell this phone.
Now what I'm askin is, is it worth the jump from the galaxy s2 to the sensation??
I've read reviews and I even lurk on this part of the forum just to see how the device is doing.
A few things I've read have concered me like dust under screen, heavy lag, poor driver quality hence phone not as fast as say for example the galaxy s2.
Now I don't mind it not being as fast cos I'm an avid rommer and I'm sure custom roms will come out to speed it up right??
Just asking for a bit of Honest advice really, I know I'm in the sensation forum but would like people to have an honest answer and either say yeah its a good phone jump over or say no its not a good idea.
I'm askin u guys cos I haven't actually had a chance to play with the sensation yet and as I said earlier, once I choose, I've got it for 2 years.
Please help.
Oh sorry bout the post I've seen these type of posts before but I really do need ur advice.
Thanks guys.

If your main issue is with sense not being there then you'd probably like the sensation more. I really don't like most of sense to be honest. Sense feels so bloated. (Waiting for cyanogenmod and i'm going to upgrade in 5months anyways).
I think they're both great devices, if you aren't happy with the gs2 maybe you should go test out a sensation?
Not a huge fan of sense either but it's a great phone and there are already some great roms around. In fact I'm finding the Leedroid and adw launcher ex combo so silky I can easily wait as long as necessary for Cyanogenmod.
Sent from my Leedroid Sensational Htc Sensation!
Man im willing to trade my sensation for your galaxy s 2 lol. It depends what you're looking for. Every review says the galaxy s 2 is the best phone but that doesn't mean the sensation isn't good. It's a very good phone, it does lag tho because sense is heavy and it's a memory hog. I'm not into rooting cause I have no idea how to do so but if that's your thing and you wanna install ROMs on it than give it a try. But I think you should keep you SGS2 just in case. Me personally I would go with the S2
Its good news for HTC that users love sense so much
Have both the sgs2 and sensation...first time using sense and I definitely like the eye candy stuff, and build quality feels nice to hold it in hand. I don't care much about sense bloatware since I use sgs2 if I need fast performance or cm7. My main point of buying sensation was for sense

I like Sense quite a bit myself....but I hope that the next update takes the bloat down a notch. All that eye candy comes at quite a noticeable price...
Reminds me of when I had to 'upgrade' my old PC from Windows 98SE to Windows ME.....shudder...
I tend to get jealous of SGSII users who have their Super Amoled screen and massive internal storage. Touch Wiz also seems to have matured a lot since I last played with it. However, the grass is always greener on the other side. I'm positive I would envy Sensation owners if I had the SGSII.
That being said, I love sense a lot and it makes my daily activities very easy to accomplish. Build quality on the phone is the best I've ever handled. Simply, it's a beast of a phone especially after using these optimized roms in the dev section. The biggest problem with the phone is the wifi deathgrip. Also the speaker is the as loud as it could be. Other than that, this is the perfect phone for me.
Definetly get it you think sense is right for you. Just be aware that you are settling for inferior (though not by much) hardware.
Short and sweet but....
I went from sgs2 to sensation and I'm happy overall. Yea it lags from time to time and its not the pure numbers animal that the sgs2 is but I enjoy the battery life, qhd, and build quality of the sensation over the sgs2. Also, sense is much better than touchwiz. With the current cm7 builds for sgs2 the sensation still has better battery life with sense and all the syncing going on. Even vs stock sgs2 rom.
Sent from my HTC-Z710a using Tapatalk
i would have suggested the evo 3d since the sense on it is smoother while the sensation is known to be buggy. That being said my sensation doesn't have any problems at the moment.
Thanks for the replies everyone, yeah the main points I'm happy with the galaxy s2 is the screen, camera and speed.
Other than that, I'm not a fan of much else, don't really like touchwiz and also the screen isn't fluid, mine stutters and its a known problem, there is a fix though.
Also no notification light is a bummer as well.

First some history. Im currently using a Desire HD and switching from sense to CM7 back in forth once in a while so custom ROMs are a must.
Previous to that had a nexus one.
My main requists are the following
Flashable ROMs
good battery life
Good overall performance
Good reception and call qaulity
Good speaker
Screen at lease 4"
Must take MicroSD (I have a 32gig and I spent 100$ to get it so I want to use it)
Im looking to get a new phone and im pretty much down to the following 4 choices which are currently available to me in Canada
LG Optimus 2X
LG Optimus 3D
HTC EVO 3D
Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G
Samsung Galaxy S II 4G
HTC Sensation 4G
MOTOROLA ATRIX 4G
MOTOROLA XT860 4G
Now in terms of price they are all give or take about the same. Specs wise the atrix still looks like a good buy especially now that bootloader is unlocked. 1 gig of ram 16gig internal plus external etc but from what I hear the screen isnt one of the best out there and due to the higher pixel count speed on the CPU takes a hit.Battery is huge which is a big plus
In general I think the 3D thing is just a gimmick so that's no big deal for me as long as the 5megapixel is semi decent
I could care less about full keyboards as im used to screen ones now
In general I tend to avoid LG due to past issues but the optimus 2 has some good reviews out there.
As for Samsung ive known a few people who say changing roms is harder then lets say on HTC devices.
So any opinion would be appreciated.
So in order here are my priorities with these
Reception
Voice quality
Battery life
Ease of rom installation and support
Good speaker
Good overall CPU performance
Screen size
Good cam 5MP and up
Dont care if its HSPA+ or whatever. Never get above 3Mbps on my network anyways

But the battery is pretty small for a device with qHD and 4.3 screen also in my general experience Sense looks night but takes allot of potential out of the CPU compared to CM7 or base android.
Also it has less internal storage and RAM then some of the other devices as well
But AFAIK,battery backup is wayy better in sensation compared to sgs 2 although both r dual core...!
N btw, stock roms tend to take a hell lot of ram...customs roms uses wayy less ram..

Well from the looks of xda its easy to root the GS2
as for battery I see Mugen has a 3200mah battery but would distroy the look of the phone.

At this point I think im leaning towards SGII seems specs are as good if not better then Atrix and battery is bigger then the Sensation

Battery life is awesome & I've been using Cognition since it's release. It's easy peezy hence why I love it so much. I use to have a HTC Inspire & it was a pain in the beginning but easy after I made a successful gold card.

Definitely judging by my hands on experience HTC or Motorola!
Id say the sensation 4g, in my opinion.
Thanks for all the replies
Sensation, or ATRIX+dock.
htc make amazing phones.. I bought the desire a year ago and it performs like a rock! and rocks do perform, it's known
I would suggest the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G.
The battery life is solid, it's very easy to root (check out its forum).
The camera is awesome, and the screen can't be beat.
Go for it.
Find dock is a waste of money. Leaning towards SGS2. Other then the battery on the atrix the specs beat all the others. Don't need qhd as that takes away from the cpu for nothing in my view
