Begining to Dev. Need sugestions

Hey guys. I cam to the epic hopeing to see more roms and more exciting things. Instead, I saw a not really supported device. So I am going to begin to port other 2.1 roms so it could fill the gaps we have between getting froyo. So I need some start suggestions. My first port is going to be the Droid X rom 2.1. So if you guys want me to port other 2.1 roms, you would have to send me a ROM dump please.

Port Cyanogenmod.

Dude he obviously has no idea wtf he is doing. He thought we could port the I9200 leak to the epic in a few minutes.... rofl.

Misspelling words are kinda key when developing. You don't want to misspell something and have it ruin your day with a device. He honestly doesn't know what he's doing. My only reason for the comment was due to the Gingerbread he wanted ported in 20 minutes. Go read that thread and you may agree with me then.

I realize that. I speak 2 languages myself. But I don't want him touching anything when commands need to be SPELLED CORRECTLY. He obviously struggles with simple words.

Ok... but maybe he is a fast learner, maybe he could help out the community.... you never know, so why not try helping him instead of putting him down?

again tho, if he had come in and said hey my dad works for google i can get a leak of gingerbread for yall can someone help me, we woulda laughed but tried anyways.
instead a few weeks ago he joined heroc channel on fossnet and started pretending he was darchstar (one of our best devs) and he had a leak he was gunna work on with cm team to port it over. since then its spiraled into him being banned on fossnet and him evading it. now he is on the forum in another thread claiming there is a leak for gingerbread and demands that it is ported over, when i bust on him for being a fake he come in here and says he is gunna port a whole lot of roms for us we just need to supply the dumps....

I'm 14. Oh, and I have 2 ROMs out.

Ok listen up. Frst of all, I am typing straight from my epic, give me a break on spelling. Secound, I am not going to be developing on my own, as you may all know about IncredibleDoes in the incredible forum, well he was nice enough to offer to help me step by step on my first rom port (Droid X). I am still waiting on a reply from him so give me some time. And third of al, all of you ar telling me to port this that are not 2.1 roms when in the thread I said specificly 2.1! So calm down guys. I'm sorry to say but the original NeverAgain was a bit misdirected. In the end, it was T-Mobile who held up the update to support sales of the Galaxy S 4G, not Samsung who had already updated their international models to 2.2.1 by December and to Gingerbread as of now. I suspect this case should be the same as it is the carriers who determine if a update will be pushed. LG only makes the updates, but it has no say in whether or not it will be pushed to the G2X.

its a shame that the us has convinced so many to just sit and take it. people have forgotten the voice of the people works. whats annoying is when some ddecide to use this you get these people saying it wont work when there are so many examples of it working in the history of the us and business.

G2x replacement with Gingerbread

Spoke to a rep about getting my G2x replaced yet again #4 as this thing is getting constant reboots *stuck to stock OS to see if it was true* he explained to me that the latest G2x's are updated with Gingerbread and the displays have been fixed and I did not even mention the display...
Tomorrow it will be here. Lets see if this guy did not pull it out of his ass and was being true.
Will keep this thread updated.

Tomorrow the update will be here? Yea. Sure. Honestly I don't have any issues with my phone but it would be nice to get an update.

That is not at all what I said. I said they are sending my replacement and it will be here tomorrow and the rep said it would have GB I didnt even request any of the info just wanted my damn replacement.

No. I only made this thread because I told them to call me for my replacement when the G2x problems have been solved.
I got a phone call they mentioned all that ****.
I dont believe them but the fact that they called me back to tell me this 2 weeks later and so i can get my replacement is pretty bad ass.
So we will see what happens when I get the new G2x

This is right, we honestly have no idea when this is coming. I check our internal information DAILY and nothing has been updated. It comes when it does, anyone who gives you a solid date is wrong as of this moment.

Well, if you do receive a G2x with the update, you can post the files for us then.

What a joke....sensation is nice but not any better. In fact doesn't it have a locked boot loader? G2x is an awesome device. You have no patience if you expect...no demand GB out of the G2x by now.

[Q] [INTEREST] Okay... it's Bounty/Reward Time for ICS

I jumped from the Vibrant to the Infuse, and I've noticed development here is a little on the anemic side. I've seen a few people discuss starting a bounty/reward for an Ice Cream Sandwich port and wanted to see if anyone else was down or interested.
If it's just me then I'll be quiet and mods can delete this thread.
Update: Please try to make reference to +1 or "Yes I'd contribute to an ICS Port" if you want this to happen. Finding developers is easy enough if we have the numbers and support from the community.

I will be content with an official GB at this point. ICS would be a great bonus but only if HDMI and Bluetooth work.

We did like a fundraiser to get devs phones. One didn't work with kernels, one did a **** ton of work but got bored with it, one posted sources on git hub but never showed up on the forum and one posted work that he did without a phone till he actually one and vanished.
If we put up,money the bounty is the way to go because we can put it up expecting only one piece of work and they can,get the money when it is complete.
I would like to see if someone can pm netarchy and razor950 and see if they still have the donated infuses, if they are interested, and if not, would they pass the phone along to someone who is.

On a more serious note, I think once you get interest from the devs more ppl would jump on; if you dangle the possiblility of a confirmed ICS rom for our phones, we will get some fkn bounty money

Just pissed myself laughing at what you wrote. I sent one PM -- if anyone has any contact information start throwing it up or recommendations of people to contact.

I am working on building an ICS AOSP rom. It is slow going though as I've had other life issues going on. I bought a nexus 4g and just got ICS AOSP built and running on it yesterday as a first step just to help me with learning how everything fits together.
I'm just doing this for fun to learn how Android works, so I don't really expect fast progress. I do own two Infuses so I'm covered there. I do have to admit the possibility of a bounty would encourage me to move faster

I'll be spending a lot more time over the next few days working on ICS. I've got a kernel in the works, hopefully I can finish it in the next day or two and test it out.

That's good to hear fellas. Take your time, we Infuse owners know how to wait for something. (i.e. Official Gingerbread) Lol

To netarchy's credit - he did talk on IRC with us, and saved me a TON of time in terms of Daily Driver development. He has never had a big forum presence - just look at the Ninphetamine thread, he was a major contributor to that kernel but only posted on the thread 11 times over its 2,900+ post life. Hacre (aka Ninpo) always did the release engineering portion of the work.
He got sick after QuakeCon which put him behind, and then real life stuff came up. It was disappointing, but at least we got some pretty good stuff out of his donated device even if it is not obvious to most users.
I'm going to try and shoot him a message (I don't think he checks XDA PMs any more, but I have other ways of getting in touch with him) to see if he is willing to give the device to a Cappy or Nexus kernel dev who wants to upgrade. (I would prefer if the device goes to someone with more time than I have to focus on it.)
razor950's device donation was unfortunate - he has a long history of saying "I'm helping you guys but don't have a device!" and then disappearing immediately after he receives it without a word. You have, IMO, no hope whatsoever of getting anything from him.

For those asking daily about updates

Guys, I know we have a lot of new people joining daily but lets take it into consideration that these guys are doing this on their FREE time so lets keep this respectful towards them and quit asking daily whats going on or when the next update will roll out.
Have been seeing a lot of this happening lately.
I enjoy flashng things just as much as you all do thats why we are here but when they have some new news or any updates I promise they will post it.
So give these guys a big thanks and if you feel like giving extra buy them a beer, I didn't write this to call any particular person out or start a bashing thread, but as a genuine courtesy call

Not new, but have seen people be plain rude and even try to demand things in one on here and that's a quick way to run them off. We actually have a pretty good group here. I just wanted to get the attention of some of the new guys.

I completely agree with you! And I hope what everyone says they keep it respectful! Cause I really hope they don't run off!

As one of the 2 devs in here, I just ask that everyone give lfaber06 and I the time we need to get the job done with quality. Constantly asking or demanding things, and requests for updates and why something takes so long to get out....
Even if it is an "emergency" to you, just hang tight and we will all as a community help you out.
And above all Search first for gosh sake, before posting a new thread. I have seen 10 threads about the new update and root for the new update and how to keep root for the new update.... all of these have been posted as far back as 2 months ago now, for the 2.3.6 update.... we have seen it all in here already with cheesecake.

Actually I have a decent build of CM7, but ran into a glitch. Both lfaber06 and I are looking at it right now, it was booting, but now it is acting real weird and it won't boot after a flash, and we can't even get anything from logcat on first boot, and lfaber06 saw some even weirder things after the flash and first boot.
So it is back to the drawing board for the moment... lfaber06 and I are both looking at it right now though. I have a feeling that CM7 will be ready before CM9, but I am guessing it is still a few weeks away right now.

So what's happening to v5 of supercharged rom? Is it at a standstill cause of the update?

Im going to agree with you on this being a good group here. I just came from the infuse and those forums are terrible with people being rude. Ive done my share as well. There may not be much development here yet but i'm glad I got the A2 because of the good support here and the quick responses. You guys have done a good job already getting a lot info out about this phone.
