There are different types of unlocks:
Dev Unlock - possibility to sideload apps
Interop - possibility to do more (i.e. custom tile colors, more tweaks etc.)
Full Unlock - possibility to do even more (i.e. native apps/code like Opera Mobile, more tweaks...)

A look in the device forum might also help. Using the search function does usualy help as well

I don't beleive the LG phones sport an unlocked bootloader, so currently there's no custom ROMs for them. However, it's possible to tweak the stock ROM a good bit. Interop-unlock the phone (this will allow sideloading an unlimited number of homebrew apps and will allow sideloading apps that have special permissions). You can find the instructions for doing so on the Dev&Hacking sub-forum. Then, install WP7 Root Tools v0.9 or later; this will allow you full access to the device and also allow desgnating other apps to run with max permissions.
As for "Unbranding" (remove the Vodaphone customizations in software), that's sort-of possible (you'd have to reflash the ROM to get rid of it all) but generally neither required nor wise. If you mean SIM-unlocking, which allows you to use SIM cards from other carriers, that's a fairly common operation. Ask your operator about it, or ask LG about it, or just look it up online...

Language packs for existing Mango phones.

Hello there!
I read the info that existing WP7 devices won't get new display languages along with the upcoming mango update. I would like to know if it would be possible to extract the language pack from new devices and somehow inject to pre-mango phones. Any ideas?
Best wishes
Most likely you will need to flash a RUU update or use some sort of "hack" ..witch probably will be found in some format here at XDA.
I would not worry to much
cheers

Hello there!
Well, it seems that multilingual Mango is available via DFT freedom rom.
Do any smart people have an idea how to install new language packs on non-htc devices?

Hi there
The first thing you have to do before even start to look at how you want your mobile to look like is to Root it. By Rooting it you'll open up heaven's gate's in the Android world such as installing custom Roms, top notch apps, control your mobile and not your mobile control you, etc.
You really want to have a look at this link especially at what MoH21 comments and teaches for he is showing you how to Root your mobile. I cannot stress enough for you to read and read and read very well until you're sure of what you're doing.
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727636
After that you can then start looking for proper custom Roms for your mobile and do the next steps like *Bootloader Unlock *CWM Install
...all of them are important and sometimes depending on which method of Root you choose (or have available really) the CWM comes included...
TIP: search in the Forum for a method to see if your Bootloader is locked or unlocked as that's crucial to know.
*for you to Google search.
Don't forget to thank me and MoH21 also for his tutorial

Yes, you're right. Multiuser support is what you're talking about, and it is available from android version 4.2.2 and above. It is enabled on tablets by default. For phones, you would need to flash custom ROMs that have multiuser support. If you're not on 4.2.2+, then you could try the SwitchMe app on the Playstore instead (requires root).

Since I do not know much about your device, you should probably ask this question here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2100
You're bound to get a better answer that way!
P.S. When you ask in that forum, avoid using words like 'best rom' or 'stable rom'.

Rom Android "universal" for old smartphone/tablet ?

hello, sorry for the inconvenience
I come here because I work in an associative computer and telephone/tablet shop only refurbished or used
we receive phones and tablets running old Android 4, 5, 6...
my question, would there be a "universal" rom with which I could put newer Androids, because they are often "no name" so nothing on the internet
Thank you in advance for your answers and your help
(Sorry for my english, I'm French, I used Google translate)
A GSI ROM IMO can be considered as universal ROM but to flash it requires actualy installed Android is version 9+
Exactly, since it's a gift, it's often old tablets or phones with Android 4, at best 5 or 6.
We would like to give it a new life so if there is a recent rom to be made quickly depending on the components it would be great to offer us that
Nobody can help me ?

Question Looking for feedback and thoughts on the ultra

Hoping I can get some feedback or comments on some questions I have on the 12s ultra which I own and plan on installing the EU ROM on it.
1. Is the EU ROM more relaxed when it comes to app permissions compared to the original Chinese one which is notorious about restricting app functions?
2. Is the eu/4-rom the only other RAM available to install on this phone, are there any planned custom versions coming out?
3. Are there any known developers in the XDA community that would be willing / interested to work on a custom ROM for this phone? I'd be willing to commission such a project as I've done numerous times for other phones I've had.

The EU ROM is based on the Chinese ROM of the same version but is far more user friendly. Pop over to their forum here and have a read. If you more info on their ROM itself or where to download the latest, take a look here.

1. Somewhat....I do find I need to go change some permissions manually on new apps sometimes. There is a great xposed module that removes the timer for changing admin and accessibility settings .
2. There are some other roms floating around that work on any generic android.
3. Naw, EU is probaly the best bet unless you wanna translate/convert a chinese rom.
Get Exposed with magisk and you can customize pretty well.
My only major complaint is google voice/assistant integration doesn't work well with lock screen.

Yes I did, the issue turned out to be my cell phone provider... I had to get into a 5G area and then it worked.
