Lightning Launcher by PierroX
Fastest launcher on Xperia Play. 60KB download. Works on GB and ICS. Customization is incredible.
Lose the fat, keep the muscle. Be warned, Lightning Launcher is on steroïds.
This application has been designed to minimize memory usage and be fast: the more memory you have for your applications, the faster they will run. In other words Lightning Launcher has been built from the ground to preserve your phone's resources and keep it smooth.
In spite of its ridiculously small size (less than 60kb!), Lightning Launcher is packed with a fair amount of features and brings to Android a very unique concept: the home screen can be seen as a giant surface on which you are free to put icons, shortcuts or widgets exactly where YOU WANT, and not limited to a 4x4 grid. Pinch to zoom in or out the desktop, use the home key to switch between a full scale view or the normal size, or double tap on empty space as in the web browser to immediately see all your icons. And everything stay functional whatever the zoom level is: widgets are alive, icons can be clicked, and so on.
Lightning Launcher drops rarely used features and focuses on useful ones but comes nevertheless with numerous customization options. Icons and widgets can be moved, scaled and even rotated freely. Each object can be configured independently, you can change the font, the label, the icon and much more!
The package is extremely small, only a few kilobytes. What it means is that the Android system do not need to load several megabytes to run this app. Lightning Launcher starts faster and run in perfect harmony with your other apps.

Great and smooth Launcher, but i dont find the option to change wallpapers
I'm getting a FC when changing the icon's image, is this a known bug?
Other than that is an awesome sandbox launcher!
I just installed this on my phone. This with a fresh install of TrueAncestor and V6 superchager and my phone has never been faster.
just installed Slim ICS on nexus s and this came with it.
Looks great but there seems to be a huge bug that i couldn't find referenced anyway:
I can't scroll back up once I reach the bottom of either the homescreen or the app draw!
Help?
Disregard
sweet, im gonna give it a try...i was looking for a good n fast launcher without boosting or changing rom
Sounds nice. .. I'll try later

First I'd like to thank you for this very responsive and light launcher.
What is a bit difficult for me to understand is the separate installation package on the Play store ("Lightning Launcher Setup"): Is it mandatory to install it? Can I remove it after setup of the launcher? When does it unload from memory?
I installed it on same time i installed the "Lightning Launcher Home" but i'm a bit lost with these two separate packages, although I understand the reason of this.
Maybe he wanted to make the launcher cool so he made an 60kb package and then 100kb+ setup.

I'm using Go Launcher, but I'm sticking to 2.60 since that's the last one that returns to your home screen when you exit an app. I really don't like the way the newer versions return to the app drawer instead. Why this change wasn't made optional, I really don't understand

I think that's a tipical return, if you open an app from app drawer, when you press the back key to exit, it back from where the application was opened, instead of press back key, just press home key .

The behaviour used to be different and I preferred it that way. I usually want to actually exit an app, rather than leave it running in the background. It means that next time I start the app, it starts at its 'start page' rather than where I last left it running.
I'm not trying to say everyone should do it my way (although I'm not the only one who has complained about the change) - I am surprised it wasn't made an option. This is perhaps the most customisable launcher out there. I can choose from a million different transitions, separately for vertical app drawer, horizontal app drawer and home screens; I can choose what kind of home screen indicators I have, and whether they should fade out; I can configure 2 different actions for each dock icon, and choose a different icon for each. So it's really surprising that this change was made without providing the option for the old behaviour.
why is the title 'FINAL'? according to the website, theres another version coming.
My favorite launcher.
However, the sphere and cilinder transition effect for the homescreen(not the appdrawer) is very laggy on my galaxy s2 while it is smooth on the older galaxy s. Howcome?
And sometimes the appdrawer icon on the dock doesn't response.
How are the apps sorted in folders? They seem almost completely random to me. I thought it was order that you add them but I add new apps to the folder and they wind up in the middle of the folder.
It would be nice if they could be sorted in alphabetical order.
i am using adw , who can tells what differences between them?

TasKarou is a multitasking/task switcher with a touch of WebOs.
it overlays your home launcher, and make it easy, and fast to switch between apps through a WebOs like, or a grid based UI.
Launch TasKarou by clicking on the home button.
To access the home launcher, double click the home button from any apps, or single click the home button from TasKarou.
TO REMOVE THE ADDS, TasKarou Launcher Key is also available on the android market.
Features
Particularly useful for tablets, 'Quick controls' feature allows apps switching by swiping from the left or right edge of the screen.
Quick controls feature can be enabled without using TasKarou as a home launcher.

I had that feature in the prior versions. I decided to take it out because it was a bit inconsistent, since the android API post 2.2 (froyo) doesn't garentee the app you're trying to kill will be immediately terminated at your request.

Thanks for the feedback. My primary focus has been on feature completeness, and usability.
For the future updates, I plan to focus on polishing the app, both at the runtime/memory, and at the UI level.
Windows previews is a big one in my todo list. However it's pretty complex, and I'm still trying to get it to work. It's definitely possible though given the amount of screenshot apps in the android market.
Any hints/help regarding how to implement screenshot like functionality is definitely appreciated.

Great job, can you make it so that you can close the open apps by swiping them off the screen just like in web os.

can someone please tell me how to get Go Launcher HD to work, regardless of my screen size. My DPI is high enough, and so is my resoolution, in fact i am running in tablet mode of ICS, however GO Launcher reads screen physical size, and screws up.
Seems to work well on my Xoom running ICS 4.0.4. I wish that once you create a folder and drop a number of icons in it that you could then sort those apps / games in an order you would want.
Also when you have placed a shortcut on the desktop I can't seem to edit its name.
I love it on my Iconia. Just wish I didn't have to keep alphabetizing my app drawer lol.
test in acer a501 is success great
Very nice. For me it needs to be a little smoother in the homescreen (on the Galaxy Tab 8.9), but everywhere else its great.
It looks great, and it's smooth, but I have a problem with icons, they are all blurry.
tested on p1000 cm9. very quick no laggy.
would be super if we modify the dock.

Works fine on my dell insprion 1300 running android x86 ics.
I have a galaxy player 4.0 running cm7 beta with a DPI of 120. original DPI was 240 but I lowered to 120 to fit more stuff on the screen and to get the netflix tablet ui. Go launcher HD shows as compatible with my device but when I install and run it, it says I should use the phone version.
I guess this app will not support mini tablets?
update:
I can hit cancel on the screen that says use the phone version. it works for a couple of seconds then restarts and the same message appears.
I know the screen is 4 inches but I think it looks nice and I would be using it if the messages about having to use the phone version was not popping up.

still works nice on Nexus 7 4.2 ? (I have bugs and lags since the update...)
This is literally the only launcher I've been able to get to work well on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9". So, thank you for making it so well designed!
However, unlike most other launchers, it doesn't seem to support being able to set arbitrary images as wallpapers. Maybe I'm missing something, but the wallpaper seems to only include backgrounds from installed themes. It would be really nice to have a built-in way to access other wallpapers, without having to use a third-party app.
Anyone found a way to sort icons in folder? The phone version can do that, but I could not find it in this Tablet HD version.

Looks good
Looks good, supports all versions from 4.0 and upwards. Having more themes would make this even more awesome.
We will constantly add themes to the theme store. Our target is 3 themes per week.
Also depending on the occasion there will be themes like christmas theme which we are releasing today.

Wow such a convincing interface
But somehow I don't like the app drawer.. Hope this gets improved in final version

I agree, this is by far the most feature packed launcher with features I'll actually use. Maybe add icon share option?

+2 app drawer is iffy. I love this though, instantly replaced Apex for me. And the sharing is amazing

Currently running Atom Launcher and its by far the least demanding on the system, i.e not draining on the battery or heavy on the ram consumption. That being said, my question is how demanding of a launcher is this?

Really good launcher so far. I'm running in to flicker issues with the status bar when toggling the status bar using a custom desktop action icon, and some lag when using the app drawer. Really excited to see this take off.
I have been going on and on about this launcher's potential. This is the real deal. I do agree with the comment on the app drawer, it kind of reminds me of the one on chameleon and is maybe the least fluid part of the experience. Performs way past any expectations i have from a beta and has a unique level of polish for a launcher. Runs very well on my n4 but I plan on testing it on my galaxy s2 later to see if it can run without crushing what's left of its spirit. Keep up the great work!

There is an annoying lag when swiping home screen to left/right, the others are perfect except the drawer
Ok. I'm tested it and:
1. App dawer is to... standard
2. I wana see other app like lockscreen
