[Q] Default Download folder to External SD Card? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I thought about moving browser to SD via TiBu? Really want the browser to download stuff to the External SD like I can have the Camera default to save to SD.
I just tried moving TiBu itself to SD, and may also try moving apex launcher, because the default backup locations are on the internal SD card, which I usually wipe between rom flashes, so I would love to have these default to my external sd. This is probably the answer but anyone who knows and can confirm would be great.

Titanium Backup allows you to choose the location of the backup folder.
If it is currently on the internal storage the simplest way to get it on your external SD is to use a file explorer to move (or copy) the folder from internal storage to the external sd. Then open TB and tap
menu key->Preferences
scroll down to Backup Folder Location and tap that.
Now tap detect and select whole device from the pop up that appears. TB will find your folder (where you moved/copied it). If you moved the folder TB will find only one and if you copied it TB will find both and you can select the one that is on the external SD.
From the same place in TB's settings you can browse to and select (or create) a folder of your choosing for your backups.
For your browser try opening the browser and then go to the browser settings, Advanced, Default storage and select memory card. I am running the third ICS leak and this works for the native browser.
BTW - it is always a good idea to navigate through all of an apps settings to get familiar with the options available.

I am running aosp Browser and the option doesn't exist. And I did do the option in tibu to change backup location, but again defaults after a fresh rom install which is just annoying. There is no option to change location from apex launcher either.

file explorer that gives install option?

I had a android file explorer that when you installed an apk from the sd card it gave you an option to install to internal or external. Does anyone know of the app or any app that does this? thanks.
i dont know anay file explorer that can do that, but if you are using gingerbread you can just go to settings and apps and then move to the sd, otherwise of course just with app2sd
there is a way where you can make apps install by default on sd card, one way is you can use apps2sd application to move apps from internal memory to sd card
another easy way is rather than moving, just install it on sdcard itself

Installing apps to the SD.

Hey all,
Does the Z3 support installing every app fully to the SD card? I ask because 16gb seems a bit limiting if you can't fully use the SD card.
I just came here to ask the same question. In Kitkat 4.4.4 (and maybe other versions?) the 'Move to SD' is disabled/not there and it is up to the phone manufacturer to enable/add it. There is no option in settings on the Z3 to move app data to your SD card. It is very easy to enable apps to be able to use the SD card, either manually or using an app such as SDFix (but you will need to be rooted).
Here are some questions I would like answered if anyone knows:
There are folders on the SD card for most apps in /Android/data/ for example, 'com.microsoft.skydrive'. That same folder is also in the same place (/Android/data/) on the phones memory and contains data for the app. Can that just be moved with a file explorer to the SD card? If so are there any other steps to take?
Is there an app to automate moving data or a way to add the button in settings, apps?
Cheers
Wait till 5 ! It's was disabled is kk
You can use FolderMount to transfer game data to external storage (sdcard)
I use it and it is really essential to me

[Q] Help - how do I move photos from phone to SD card?

Would appreciate instructions on how to move photos taken with the camera and stored in the phone storage to the SD card. The stock file manager doesn't seem to have a move option.
Thanks for any help.

I just plug the phone into my laptop - and then move files between internal storage and the SD card ( and the laptop disk as well , if needed ) . That is the easiest way to do it. Another way is to use a File Explorer app that can write to the micro SD card - like ES File Explorer

Use the file manager that comes with the idol, it's what I've been using to transfer files to my sd and it works flawlessly in that regard. I wish solid explorer worked for this.

Go to the picture folder or any folder, long press on the file/folder you want to cut/copy and hit the menu button (the 3 dots) in the top right hand corner. There you choose to cut or copy, after you have chosen your option there is another menu on the left hand side (3 lines). Select the sd card and you can paste in the folder of your choice by hitting the menu on the right side and selecting paste.....voila!
Hopes this helps.
OK - I did what you instructed and it sort of seems to have worked. First I selected the folder and said copy. Then selected the SD card folder and said paste. The pics are there. Then I deleted them from phone storage.
However, now I don't see them in Quickpics. They are there in Gallery .

Titanium backup and Airdroid can't write my Micro SD Card, how do I allow that?

I tried Titanium backup today and it can't write my Micro SD Card, how do I allow that? Also Airdroid can't write to the Micro SD card as well, I tried their instruction but it didn't work (it open up the default file manager app and it didn't seems to show what the app said...
could it be that while introducing the sd card into ur system, android encrypted the storage? try and completely format the sd card, see if that helps remove the encryption... (beware, that might take a while, so just let it sit there for an hour or so if it seems to be "stuck")
after opening the stock file manager , u have to go to settings and select show advanced storage (don't know if it's the correct name in english) go out of settings and u will see selection on the left side. select ur sd card and then choose "select all" titanium backup isn't working for me on ext card, the same with spotify. it works only if stock file manager is opening at writing access from the app u want to use with ext card

farmating ext card isn't helping

I don't think so because I simply put my Micro SD card from S4 into Mate 8 and it see the card and it's contents normally right away.

I got it working.
Going to Setting -> Preferences -> Backup folder location -> Storage provider (click to change) (the white text just below the grey "Browse to the path your backups will be stored..." paragraph) -> Then choose the DocumentProvider storage and then choose your location again. TB prompt if I want to move backup from old folder, I said yes even though it was the same folder. It took only a few seconds.
Now I can back up in my Micro SD .

Were you able to find a similar setting for Move to SD? I don't even have that option available to me in TiBu.

Issues accessing the external SD card for some apps

Guys, sorry to ask this, but I have some issues with some apps when they try to write something to the microSD card........for example: Titanium Backup says that any destination folder in the microSD is not writable.....
I´ve just rooted my phone with shoey63 assistance so I´m using the latest recovery, MM 291 with latest SU version.
In the particular case of TB, I had to do this trick to make it work:
In TB, go to Preferences -> Backup Folder Location.
Click on Storage provider at the top (it's not obvious that it's clickable).
Click on DocumentProvider storage. That will take you to a File Manager interface. You may have to click on the 3-dot menu on the top-right to enable the (external) SD card to be shown, then click the menu lines in the top-left and select your SD card, and click the "Select" at the bottom right. (You don't have to select your Titanium Backup folder here, you're just using this to get access to your SD Card.)
Now you should be back in Titanium Backup and you can browse like you used to to get to your preferred backup folder on your external SD Card
I warn you that using this Document Provider storage is much slower - at least it seems so for me. But, it seems that it's the only way to go for now.
Have the same problem with some other apps that say the microSD card lack of write permissions.
I´ve already flashed the ExtSD_Fix_rw-signed-v2.9b.zip fix a couple of times and the same scenario with RICDefeat.zip without luck. Just to mention that I can copy/move/delete files in the card using ES File Explorer just fine, but when I need to define a file/folder as the destination folder in some apps, they give me an error stating that file/folder is not writable.
Does someone could give me a hand with this?
TIA.
Alx
