[Q] Just broke the screen - What do I do now? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi.
Just broke the screen.
The phone won't work ):
I mean - nothing is showing.
What do I do next? Do this myself by buying this part?
LINK TO PART
Or does HTC have a repair center?
Thanks (help

That's just the digitizer, not the LCD. If your screen is completely toast, you are going to need a digitizer+LCD combo. It would probably be cheaper and easier just to use your insurance. You do have insurance, RIGHT?

Thank you !
I do not have insurance
I bought this X used.
About the LCD, it's a different component you are saying? I will eBay it. This will increase costs. What am I in for here? Chhhhheeee

Is this the part?
LCD PART?

You're going to want to try and find a complete assembly so you don't have to worry about fusing the screen and the digitizer yourself. Also, you're going to want to make sure you are getting a quality screen, considering how amazing the One X's is. This one is for the international version, not sure if it would work for the AT&T one or not.

No prob. Like I said though, not sure if that particular one would work, just trying to point you in the right direction. Good luck!

I would send it to HTC in Houston
Sent from my HTC One XL using Tapatalk 2

the international version and at&t version are not the same size. At&t t's version is taller. I don't know if this would affect the screen or not but thought I'd give you that little bit of information.

screen replacement

I tried searching all over googleverse and youtube but not luck on a guide on how to open a G2 to replace a LCD. so this is my last resort at looking for an answer. does anyone have a guide or can tell me that its simple to disassemble the device?
Sadly, I wouldn't think there would be a simple fix to a screen like this, simply because of the hinge, although I could be wrong. What happened to the phone, these things have only been out for like a month.
Maybe OP was doing some durabilitiy test... or he was like his avy and fell off the skateboard crushing it =[
lol no, I was going to buy one off some guy on ebay to fix for my GF but so far no dice on the repair guide.
repair guide? LMAO
i think you're going to have to make your own repair guide
you will be a hero to many
Maybe pm the guy that tore his apart on here. He may have some tips.

What do you think about the screen bezel? I'd love to get it off and have it and the batt cover anodized.
Sadly karma has stricken me for posting in this thread I assume. I had a Zagg Invisibleshield installed, and the "solution" got underneath my screen and has messed it up.
Anyone ever find a replacement for this?
Also I was thinking of calling HTC but figured they wouldnt fix it.
Tear down is here:
http://tjworld.net/blog/htc-desire-z-tear-down
BE SUPER CAREFUL WITH THE MICROSD RIBBON CONNECTOR. 2 pins on mine got messed up and now the vibration doesn't work...so be aware/be careful!
http://cgi.ebay.com/TMOBILE-G2-HTC-...Cell_Phones&hash=item35aeb64eae#ht_500wt_1156
Here's one you can use as spare parts/replacement screen. If you do get this, I might want to buy the main-board off you to repair the stupid microSD connector...ugh, still can't believe I broke 2 pins on it!
Thanks!

Me too. I want the HTC logo on the front dammit! Let me know if you find what we're looking for. I already bought the HTC battery cover without the "G2" logo.

Capacitive Button LEDs Shot

So, my ATT One X is acting funny. The LEDs behind the capacitive keys only work for the back button. This is not a ROM/firmware issue, as I use my own ROMs and think I have a fairly good idea of what would cause that to happen if it were. Anyway, I got it kind of wet (was in my wader pocket fly fishing and it got half submerged for half a second), so that may be/likely is it.
So, my questions are: (1) has anyone else had this happen without dunking it in water for a half a second (guessing no), and (2) more importantly, what has been people's experience with the ATT's insurance? Will they give me a hard time if I tell them it was the water dunk, or will they still check whether it's rooted/unlocked, etc? I can get it back to it's factory state, but don't want to bother. Any input is greatly appreciated, as I am using my International One X and it is really laggy in comparison, even with custom ROMs. Thanks!
Steve
If you have insurance they will replace it no matter what you did to it, if you try to get it replaced/repaired under warranty it is likely that they will want to make sure that it is not due to water damage. But you may get lucky. Good luck

Cool. I have insurance. Thanks for the info. I'll just pay the deductible and get a new one. Was planning on putting out a ROM this week, so hope it's quick.

The water mark paper thing indicator what ever its called is on the sim card tray. But you'd have to take the phone apart to locate it :/

I have had no problem using warranty for stuff like that in the fast with my atrix. I returned it with cm7 anddigitizer not working and still had no questions asked about warranty. Insurance I have used once after I broke my blackberry curve when it came out a few years ago. My HOX I went with best buy for insurance purpose

My home button goes in and out, without being dropped or dunked in water. I think it's a build defect. When mine goes out, squeezing that part of the phone causes it to flicker and come back on, so I think the solder is just shot.
Yes at&t will.replace it...by the way..since i had my original one x replace a week ago..be sure to check the lower part of the phone where the capacitive buttons are..the first and second one that they gave me made a squeaking sound..if you press it..but the 3rd one that they handed me feels solid..different build quality i guess

So I need to replace my phone...

Sadly I shattered my X's screen :crying: and I'm going to get it replaced with my insurance, they send me the new phone and I send them the broken one back. As far as I can tell there's no way I can check or have them check that the phone's still on 1.85 and I absolutely can't live without root. Any ideas to help me out? (AT&T One X)
you may be able to this.. idk it was sure if you need root but maybe something along this line. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671135

If it comes with 2.20 you are toast. There is no known root or BL unlock for phones that come with 2.20. Its hit or miss what you will get.

Yeah I think I'm going to call AT&T today and see if there's any way we could work something out. Hopefully since one of the reps at my local store is actually knowledgeable when it comes to rooting and modding etc. he can help me out.

Your replacement will come from asurian. If you get a refurb find a flaw with it and they will send you a brand new one which will likely not have 2.20.

I dropped my current phone a few days before the screen shattered and it's just been buggy as hell, it's barely been usable since. Plus I got a defective model in the first place with the WiFi issue which at this point is getting to be the most annoying thing ever. I guess I shouldn't have waited to get a replacement, I was too afraid I'd get a new one with the update but now it seems like it's going to be a very slim chance of getting one without the update
I just got a refurb from AT&T today with 2.20 on it already.
Sending it back. Guess I'll live with some stuck pixels and root, I have 90 days to decide how much it bothers me.
Unless an exploit is found for 2.20...

Just realized how lucky I am... My phone dropped from 3 stories into wood... Amazingly I have no issues, just a slightly blue tint on a pinkie sized part of the screen only visible when there's a Grey background and a scratch on the top corner of the chassis. Of course it probably helped I had a zagg screen protector which is scratched slightly at the top.

Black Housing

ATTN All TMOUS HTC ONE S Owners-- If you have been looking for a T-Mobile black housing to replace your stock Grey/Blue housing, I've got some good news for you!
http://www.etradesupply.com/htc-one-s-rear-housing-t-mobile.html
Choose the black color, and scroll through the pics, and you can see that just like the stock t-mobile housing, it is missing the bottom part, which means it will be a quick replacement. Good luck
There is a thread here somewhere that has instructions and links to all parts needed to convert your T-Mobile HTC One S into the black MOA version.

correct, but that is using the EU black housing. This is the T-Mobile black housing, so you don't need to make any modifications to the housing itself. Regardless, I was just trying to help people out.

I wasn't bashing you or anything. Just stating that a similar thread existed. I'd be all over it if they posted a complete black housing for the T-Mobile One S on there. They have the black complete housing but it's not the T-Mobile version. It's for the WWE version.

So then if we purchased this back housing, we would only need the red camera lens and the speaker/sim covers correct?
We wouldn't need the mid-frame component?

Of course black is out of stock.
Did you order this? I am hesitant to purchase a black housing from anywhere because there's no indication that it is treated with MOA and not just painted black, regardless of it saying it is OEM.

Also, if you don't get a new front housing then the front/bottom of the phone will still be blue.

don't think they are unique-- but I agree with you on the point about bottom/front of phone will still be blue, but I want to try out the black housing to see how it is, then maybe order the mid-frame component.. although it will be a lot of work to completely take the phone apart.
UPDATE: got the housing today, but it was damaged-- dented in the top and middle, so I have to talk to them to see if I can return. sad, sad day

Never said a cracked screen was covered, only said if I had to send to HTC for repair, I didn't want to un-root. I googled it and watched a video on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIeO0DueMcg, from InjuredGadgets.com looks pretty simple so I ordered the repair and I'm gonna fix myself. A lot cheaper than having it repaired

I ordered it from injuredgadgets.com they are located in Georgia and offer 3 choices for the screen replacement, here is the link for the One X, http://www.injuredgadgets.com/HTC_One_X_s/1946.htm. I went ahead and got the complete LCD screen with digitizer, the reason being if your screen has not been replaced before most likely you will damage the digitizer trying to separate the LCD screen from the digitizer. With the repair kit plus the screen/digitizer cost $85, you can also send it to them and they will repair it for $150. Watch the video I posted in previous post, If you think you can do it order it and save yourself a few bucks.
Also if you are in major metro area I found some watch repair shops fix cracked screens as well.
