Hi guys,
A friend of mine has his power button broken and his Nexus powered off.. So he can't boot it up or everything else. Is there any way I can fix the problem for him? The phone is actually a brick without purpose.
I'm wondering if I can fix it without sending it to Samsung customer care..
Did you pull battery out and then plug charger in? Sometimes that works.

So my power button is broken. It was press. My phone ran out of battery. Is it possible to turn it back on? Any help would be appreciated immensely.
Nope
Same thing happened to me and I had to send the phone back to tmobile for a new one. I think that it is a defect in the design and placement of the power button.
i would but unfortunetly I bought it from someone and it isnt under warranty anymore
Call HTC or get a friend to do it for you.

Plug in to the charger and it should boot up, or plug into adb and type adb reboot

You're supposed to remove battery and try to power up with bootloader/adb?

If you get it to turn on you can pm me and I will link the apk file to allow remapping.but you still won't be able to turn your phone on so u have to keep it charged and on.
I am positive I read somewhere how to turn it on via USB/ad w/out battery in.search about not having battery.you might get lucky.

My button seems to be stuck on press, although the button itself moves. I pull the batt and after a second the phone turns on on its own. If i put back the batt and hold volume up, it goes to bootloader. When in bootloader, I can't navigate. Any way I can fix this? Or do I send it to a service center?
If u got the insurance..... yes I would take it back for repair or to get a refurbished one from insurance

I don't have insurance and my phone is over a year old.

I'm pretty sure it's fixable.. either through warranty or a repair shop, unless you just want a new phone

Have you tried tap tap app? I think you can turn on phone with this app without the power button. You should check it out. It's in the play store .I really hope it helps. Best wishes

Hi,
A new back cover might do the trick.
There is also "Sweep-to-wake" if you can get it going.
I was using swiptowake but my battery die, after I charged the phone I don't have a way to power on the phone back, I try to fix the contact of the power but no luck.

You said the battery died....have you left it plugged in for several hours since?
On the stock rom and firmware, there's a goofy feature (well I think its' goofy anyway) that prevents the phone from booting until the battery has recharged back to something like 30% after it drains all the way. No amount of pushing the power button will get it started until the battery charges some, and it will have the same symptoms as being a broken power button.
If you've already confirmed that the battery is charged and the power button is broke, nevermind. I just want to make sure this doesn't have a really simple cure first before you go trying the tough stuff.

Hello,
Like others have said on this post. How did you break the power switch? If it's only the chrome plated button that fell off then simply buy another battery cover on Ebay. The real switch is actually on the phone body underneath the button, so chances are that it is still intact. Now as someone else has stated and this happened to me a few times already, if you allow the battery to drain completely, you will not be able to turn the phone on even when plugged in. Just leave the phone to charge for an hour or so then try to turn the phone on. Otherwise just buy another battery.
Best of Luck

Because it sounds like a hardware issue.
You will have to RMA it. Have you spoke to ASUS support? Likely you'll need to pay the Motherboard repair fee as well
Turn off the tablet normally. Then plug in the AC adapter. Plugging it in to charge should turn on your tablet without you having to press the power button at all. Try turning it on that way and see if it stays on.
Well it does turn on when i use the cable
But i still dont know how to fix the button problem

Does your power button still "click" up and down when you press it ? because mine got stuck in the down position which might cause it to reboot over and over but not shutdown? Does it vibrate when you release the button before it turns itself off or just instant dead screen?
No . it does click and when i release it , it shutsdown amidetly like the power is out wich is realy wieed

Really sounds knackered. Seriously give ASUS a call

well i would but the tablet is unlocked so i have no warrenty .
You do, but they'll likely try to get you to cough up for a new Motherboard.
So on the sounds of it you'll either have to do that to fix it, give up on it and sell as broke, or see if a local comp shop can open it up and see if there is a faulty connector to the power switch.
Unless anyone else has a solution, but it sounds hardware based to me
You seem out of luck but have you tried keeping it pluged in for a long period of time and maybe repetitively pressing the power button really hard to see if you can lossen it up a bit. Also you can turn it on using the cord correct? What happens when you unplug it? You lose power?
