Poor Anker 1900 performance? - HTC Sensation

I've got the anker 1900 but I'm dissatisfied. It lasts as long as the stock 1580 or maybe less...
I dunno whether it's bad luck or not, but something is wrong.
1) In battery widget the reported mAh is 1580, isn't it supposed to be auto detected correctly 1900?
2) I've wiped batterystats, and recharged it fully, but i.e. today the phone lasted only from 10.00 till now. Do I have to give it more recharghing cycles before to judge it?
What do you think?

Depends on usage, the way I use it - that would be a good amount of capacity.

Did u do 3 full discharge and charge.
Im on my 2nd cycle and my Anker is rockin'..

I bought iy on ebay from an irish seller. And I've still not completed 3 full cycles.
But what about the reported mah?
Did you have to set manually the mah as well?
And I'm experiencing strange behavior with the reported left charge. It stayes at 100% long, and then it start lowering the % much faster.

Might be a faulty battery perhaps you have warranty ? I bough it from ebay : laptopmate_usa hes legit and gives 1 year warranty ! Mine stays on 100% long time but starts draining fast until 92 then becomes normal..

Battery monitor widget reports 1580mAh and I have to overwrite the data to 1900, does it happen to you too? Il this normal?

With battery monitor widget, if you go in to "Calibration", then hit "Change", you can enter a different capacity. You don't have to name the battery, although you can if you want. Then the stats should change.
*edit*
I have used battery monitor widget in the past, and had to manually change it to 1900. Although I have not used it lately and don't know if it should automatically adjust the calibration.

I have the anker 1900 too and to quickly see if battery is actually registering as larger than 1500 (ie your battery stats have been adjusted due to calibration or wipe). Charge your sensation to 100% (green light), power down, and if your charging while powered down for my then 5 min or so its still at 1500. (orange light on)
I know it seems obvious but my experience is that my anker battery will always charge full if turned off no matter what rom I'm running.
if the rom isn't reading the battery i'll turn on my sensation and i'll be at 100% charge for a few hours Xp

[Q] Weird Battery Problem??

This happened twice today..
For e.g: If my battery is showing 15% and then i restart my phone it suddenly shows 50% remaining..
Am using Battery Indicator to show me in % how much is remaining (though even the htc battery shows the difference in this case)
Any idea why is this happening and how to solve this??
Oh and how to stop the: Show Me app?? Keeps restarting and sucking my battery..
Could someone please help me out here with this weird problem??
It keeps happening everytime i restart my Sensation..
Try wiping your battery stats from CWM.Then charge battery fully>drain fully>then charge again it should be calibrated. oh and use startup cleaner in the market.

Its a 1 day old Sensation.. Havent rooted it yet..
I saw the same with my mine. I allowed the battery to drain until the phone shut off and recharged over night to 100%. I did that for a few cycles and mine seems fine now.
The battery % indicators only show what the phone software *thinks* it currently is.
The Sensation battery ranges from approx 4200mV (full) to 3000mV (empty).
The problem is sometimes the phone thinks those numbers are different. E.g. when you turn on your phone for the very first time, or flash a new ROM, if your battery was half full at 3700mV the phone would then think that was the 100% level (why they say charge a battery fully for a long time before turning your phone on for the first time).
This leads to various funnies such as a battery seemingly staying full for ages (the phone thinks 100% is much less than 4200mV so until you drop to the phones level your battery %age doesn't go down), and seemingly rapid drains where you end up with less than 10% left - but probably find in reality if you left it your battery would go on for ages at 0%.
Over time it learns, but best to wipe your stats after a long charge so it knows that 4200mV is 100%, and then don't charge your phone again until it physically runs out of juice so it knows what is 0%.
Another useful tip is to install the free BatteryLife widget from CurveFish from the market. That shows you the current voltage level as well as %age, so armed with the knowledge that full = approx 4200mV and empty = approx 3000mV you get an exact idea of how much you have left.
Mine does the same thing even draining/charging for few cycles

Mines has done the same but I haven't had the chance to calibrate it yet to know if that'll help. It has helped on previous phones. I don't think your device is defective though.

How do you calibrate an unrooted device??
I think it calibrates itself after a few charge/discharge cycles. Always charge it a lot longer than when the green light comes on (because if the phone thinks the 100% level is a lot lower than it should be, that green light may come on early), and for the first couple of charges let it dry out rather than topping up.
And install that BatteryLife widget from CurveFish, then you can look at the voltage. 4200mV = full, 3000mv = empty, regardless of what your battery %age says. Mine currently says 51% and 3753mV.
Having the same problem here, restarted my phone afew times now and the battery % keeps going up, then dropping rapidly! :s

Current widget will not measure the ma correctly on the sensation. You will need to use battery monitor widget and set sensation in the settings. As far as i know battery monitor widget is the only one that will measure the ma correctly. I thought my phone had gone mad as well when i was using current widget until i found out the above info. hope this helps. There is a forum on xda for battery monitor widget somewhere. It's free on the market
well i tried: battery status, elixir and current widget the 3 give the same result, anyhow am trying battery monitor to check
but usually is that a normal behavior ?

Hey, (first Post )
I noticed that too (got a 1900 Anker). I Think, when you plug in the charger, Current Widget shows you how much V or A the battery gets from the charger. When disconnect the charger the widget shows you how much is left.. Just thinking

How can you get a long life Cell Phone Battery

Durability of a cell phone battery can easily be understood by just check a parameter........ mAh. You will find it on the battery level- such as 1000 mAh, 1200 mAh, 1500 mAh, 2100 mAh. The larger the rating, the longer is the battery life. Just check it on your cell phone battery.
Note- While buying a new battery for your old cell phone then you must check this unit to have long lasting/durable service.
If you have 2G, no Wifi, low brightness could also make your battery life last longer ^^
Calibrating the battery after flashing new roms will typically increase the battery life if you are experiencing issues. It simply removes the old battery stats to make the stats pertinent to your given rom.

Try to don"t use your phone:silly:....or use juice defender....it works fine for me..
Irronically I have noticed certain battery aid apps actually killing my battery more, but simply avoid auto brightness and adjust it accordingly when inside or out, turn off wifi, bluetooth, and maybe some of your sync options, depending on your type of screen avoid using backgrounds with certain colors... ex Amoled's emeny is white as is most screens, if possible change the backgrounds in certain used apps to black such as messaging.
yes proper callibration is basic step/
Then use 2g network if 3g use is not much.....but if you have to do it as 3g, not as auto...coz it chews up more battery
Then diable wifi and bluetooth when not in use
avoid live wallpapers
You can use the slick power saving feature option by enabling it......
Decrease the brighness of screen as much as possible
screen lockout time to minimum pratical

The mAh value isn't anywhere near as important as the way you use your phone. Theoretically my HD2 with a 1230 mAh battery could last a good week and a bit in airplane mode with no usage whatsoever, but that's a completely unrealistic scenario. I can always get a full day of usage out of it, and really I've never needed more. All I do to limit battery drain is use a custom ROM, JuiceDefender and SetCPU, and I get a 5mA drain on standby with WiFi on. To put that in perspective, my Mum's Desire S on a stock ROM gets 26mA drain in Airplane mode. Despite having a 1600 mAh battery (I think) the battery doesn't last much longer than mine, and even then it's only because she never uses her phone.

Yeah
Yes, use only 2g, low brightness, no animations, and most important, calibrating.
but with a good rom, what isnt the stock, u can use a batterysaver kernel governor, like savagedzen
If, after rooting or more likely that case after flashing a new rom, you often have battery reporting errors, and re-calibrating the battery along with some steps I will outline for you below will ensure that your battery is getting a full charge, and the battery reporting accuracy is right on. As far as power cycling, I don't know that it does much good. I run my device in performance mode all the time, and with a CPU overclock of 1.25GHz and various tweaks, I have about a day an a half to a day and a quarter of full runtime from my battery. This is with moderate to heavy usage (calls, emailing, text, gaming, web browsing, etc.) so you should have no problems getting acceptable battery performance after following these steps:
1. Take the case off your device (one of the latter steps involves taking the battery out from the phone while it's plugged in. Make sure your case won't stand in the way.)
2. Install Battery Calibration app from the market
3. Plug in your device to charge while it's on, wait till it gets to a 100%
4. When the charge is 100%, open the BatteryCalibration app and lookup what the charge is in MV while at 100%. Write it down.
My Atrix 2 was showing ~3400MV while at 100%, which is definitely not the maximum capacity.
5. Discharge your device completely until it shuts off.
A good way of doing this quickly is by turning on wifi, and a video player.
6. Without turning on the phone plug it into a wall charger and let it get to 100%
7. When it's at 100%, without unplugging it from the wall charger, take off the battery cover, and take the battery out.
Your phone will "reboot" and show a Missing Battery icon.
8. Without unplugging the phone from the wall charger or turning it on, put the battery back in and wait until the phone recognizes the battery.
9. Your battery should now be recognized by the phone, and showing a charge % significantly lower than 100%.
Mine showed only 5%.
10. Let it sit there charging for 2-3 hours (or more).
My phone wouldn't charge past 10%, but yours might. The numbers don't matter much as the phone is definitely getting additional charge that could have been lost while flashing ROMs, etc.
11. After 2-3 hours (or more), turn the phone on while holding the volume down button and get into CWM.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
12. Wipe battery stats in CWM, reboot.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
13. When the phone turns on, go into Battery Calibration app again and look up your MV numbers -if you were like me, they should be significantly higher than before. After this whole process I had 4351MV at 100%, comparing to 3400MV before calibration.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
14. Before going to sleep - Install Watchdog Task Manager Lite from the market. Go into it's preferences, set CPU threshhold to 20%, check "Include phone processes", check "Monitor phone processes", check "Display all phone processes", set system CPU threshhold to 20% as well.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
15. Make sure your wifi and data connections are off. Now finally unplug the phone from the charger.
Go to bed, let your phone sleep too.
16. Success! Next morning check where your battery % is at and if you followed the instructions correctly / got lucky like me, your battery life should be 90% or more.
I went to bed with 98% and woke up to 94%. So, I consider this mission a success.

[Q] Battery Issues

Hi everyone,
I've had my Sensation for about 14 months now and for the past month I've been having battery issues. Primarily, it's very quick to lose charge and will lose charge even while charging from the wall. First I bought a replacement battery but was still having the same issues. I've started using Better Battery Stats and Battery Monitor Widget but I don't have anything out of the ordinary running. In fact, not a lot is running at all. BMW has allowed me to see how the charging is going though which has been nice. During this period I have used Elegancia, Bruce's CM10, and am currently on ParanoidAndroid. All experienced the same issues.
Last night, for example, I put the phone on the charger at 16 percent. It charged up to 22 and then started the downward slide to death and I ended up waking up 35 minutes late.
Where do I go from here so I don't have to constantly be paranoid about my battery levels?
Sounds like you might need another battery. In better battery starts did you notice any unusual wake locks? This could drain a battery. But since it looses charge even when charging I'd think it was the battery. I personally was experiencing some battery issues myself finally I broke down and got a mugen 3800mah battery from mugen. It was expensive but really worth it for Me.with really heavy and constant use I get 20 hours out of my battery, with normal use I get two days. I'm also running paranoid Android rom. For me the big battery solved my issues. Only one draw back, it does make your phone thicker. New back included with battery. This didn't bother me much because of the excellent battery life I receive. Now I finally don't. Worry about battery. However it's expensive at about 95 dollars. But I was so fed up with poor battery life it was worth it for me. You have to be careful when buying inexpensive batteries because there are a lot of fakes going around. And the mah is not really what it says it is on the packages. You can test the battery and make sure it is what it's advertised to be. If you don't want to go with that large of a battery you can also try anker extended battery. It's a lot less expensive and is a good battery. I personally needed more juice so I went with the big battery. I know you said you replaced the battery but sometimes the bargain batteries go bad quickly. It makes me suspicious of the battery because it's even dropping while charging. This is strange. If you ruled out any apps or wake locks that might be draining the battery I would buy a good reliable battery. The draining while charging is a red flag. I'd say the battery is going bad. I don't at all regret my purchase of the big battery. It for me, solved my issues. I do Hope this helps and I wish you the best. Hopefully you will get your issue resolved soon.

its either an issue with the battery or the battery reporting.
Only thing you can really try is to charge it up to 100%, wipe battery stats in recovery, then let it empty totally and charge it up again, see how its behaving. There is a chance that its the reporting that is off.
otherwise this looks like the battery is on its way out im afraid

Argh. I hope it's not the replacement battery too. I got a replacement HTC battery. The problem I'm having getting anything useful from Better Battery Stats is that rarely am I off the charger. In the settings it says I can log while charging but it may mess up the stats so I've shied away from doing that. I'm not against getting a bigger, better battery but I would hate to do that and have it actually be something else hardware-wise where I would need to get rid of my phone.

I'll give this a try if I can get it back up to 100%. Is the reporting in Recovery always correct? The battery never has issues charging while it's in Recovery mode. If that's the case then I'll charge it to 100% in recovery and then wipe and start fresh.
Thanks
I don't think it's the battery. This phones have errors in battery readings. I feel your pain man. Mine is from T-Mobile (Sensation 4G) and it discharges if I use it even at lowest brightness when it's charging too.
If I reboot, I get the battery boost. I have tried EVERYTHING I read here and nothing worked. I even have 4 batteries. All of them in good condition.
I even tried three times discharging it fully and without turning it on, charge it in the night and when I wake up 7-8 hours later, it's still charging. I tried wiping stats, changing ROMs, changing the usb cable and the charger. Everything... I believe it's a hardware issue. (Thank HTC for that) I'm not buying another HTC when I have to upgrade.

Interesting...so if you were to charge the phone in recoery how long do you think it would take to get to 100%?
I would definitely do what you said, charge in recovery then wipe battery stats and go from there.
If you're interested in having something to compare to, it takes my phone about 3 hours to charge to 100% (by the way I'm using an Anker extended capacity battery), with a peak current usually around 800 - 900 mA. Fully charged I have somewhere around 4100 mV. If you haven't already, I'd suggest adding a Battery Monitor widget with mA, mV, and % available being displayed and it will be pretty easy to get an idea what's going on.

I'm leaning towards hardware issue too. That's why I figured I'd post and see if there was anything else that I can try. It's also why I don't really want to buy an expensive battery since who knows what it'll fit next. I know what you mean about the reboot battery boost. You can almost gamble and bet on percentages when you reboot. I've seen 50% swings before.

In recovery I would guess that it wont take very long to charge to full. I have battery monitor widget installed and while plugged into the wall with my 1.0A charger, it will typically pull 100-200mA but sometimes it'll spike to 700-900mA. No rhyme or reason. When idling and functioning properly, without a charger plugged in it drops 9-100mA. Sometimes though while charging it'll sit at negative 100-200mA.
HA! Just rebooted my phone and it went from 68% to 100%. So I rebooted into recovery, it also said full so I wiped stats.

I normally get 2 to 3 mA drain with the phone sleeping. When charging you may not necessarily get close to the 1 A current delivery of the charger straight away, typically it will ramp up over time and reach peak charge current as it gets closer to 100%. Once at 100% it wants to just "trickle" charge to maintain 100% charge until the charger is disconnected, so any wakelocks etc. that cause a current drain during that "trickle" charging will actually decrease battery charge until the charger ramps up to compensate for the drain. Random spikes in charging current would suggest a hardware problem where the electronics are struggling to properly govern the charging process, as would a large negative current drain with the charger plugged in. Silly question but what's the actual plug connection to your phone like? Nice and solid, pins all OK?

[Q] Installing Anker Battery, anything special that needs to be done?

I just got an Anker battery.
Do I need to do anything to adjust for it being a higher capacity battery? Like somehow tell the ROM (CM10) that it's got a bigger battery?
Or do I just put the new one in, boot the phone, and stop whining about it?
You can after you charged the Anker FULL (You can ckeck it in recovery) wipe battery stats.

Cool. I just didn't want to put it in there and think it was charging all the way but only have it charging to the max capacity of the stock battery.
Does the phone adjust for having a higher capacity battery?
Or does it just stay at 100% until the remaining charge drops back to below the max of the stock battery?
No therfore there a thing called wipe battery stats.

I've always read that after three full cycles that's the calibration, the phone then recognises the higher battery capacity. I've found this to be true as I'm using a 3800mah battery. So after almost draining completely and charging completely your device should be fine and good and recognise the higher mah. If you feel it's off you can calibrate again. But calibrate using the drain and charge method. Hope this helps, best wishes
Holy profanity!
I can't believe what a difference a new battery makes.
Unplugged 12 hours ago, only made 1 phone call, but I'm still at 96% left on the Anker. And tha'ts after 1 2 hour charge after putting the battery in last night. I haven't even run it up and down through a few cycles yet to get it broken in.
It does seem to run a little warm though. If that normal?
Yes a little warmth is normal.

I loved my anker battery, it did run a little hotter for the first several cycles.

The phone does not need to adjust for anything, as charging is not software controlled but hardware controlled. Whatever capacity battery you insert in your phone, it will automatically stop charging when it reaches capacity - due to the electronic circuity built inside the battery.
