[Q] Tracking how much battery headphones/audio-out use. How? - General Questions and Answers

What app or a method could I use to determine battery drainage that headphones cause on android smartphones? Please advice.
I am going to make tests to find the best sounding and best battery friendly headphones.
Thanks in advance!

You can try going into application settings, then battery use. On my android 2.3 it gives me a run down of what's been using the battery; it may be of some use to you
Good luck, sounds like an interesting venture

You can use this
Battery Monitor Widget Pro

Thank you for suggestions, i had these in mind too, but can you explain what exactly do i look at? Especially in Battery Monitor Widget Pro, where do i go in it, what do i look at to know the exact battery usage made by audio to headphones?

Anyone willing to explain please?

[Q] Extended battery for i9000b ?

Greetings,
I bought a SGS i9000b in Brazil. Unfortunately the battery is different from the international SGS. A friend game me a Momax 2700mAh with the backplate but unfortunately this thing is useless for me. I mean I can adapt the backplate (just need to make a cut for the digital TV Antenna), but I couldn´t find a bigger battery to fit in the space.
Anybody has any track about an extended battery that works with the SGS i9000b?
bump...
I´m really doomed T-T
let me think outside the box...it is possible to connect two batteries in parallel? Like nobreak batteries?
If you're just looking for better battery life you could try Juice Defender. I would risk using two batteries in parallel just because if something went wrong you'd likely have the phone close to you.

I´m already using Juice Defender, but I´m still in need of a huge improvement.
I´m building a people tracking solution but I need to almost double the uptime of the phone. Unfortunately this solution needs to be a "phone-sized" solution. I´m using the SGS because it´s directed for "rich people" and the SGS is the best iPhone rival we have in Brazil so far. (I think the moto Atrix is coming too). I did not expected the battery change on the brazilian model.
i've connected 2 parallel batteries in a nokia 6682 and it doesn't charge... i don't want to test it with the i9000b but i think it will be the same. Does anybody knows about modifying charge circuits?

Battery consumption

Hello everyone,
I'm running some tests to see the battery consumption on my Galaxy S i9000. I'm using the gingerbread version of darkys ROM.
Firstly, what do you think of the battery life? In this specific test I used the phone in a very light way, made some messages/calls and read few mails.
Secondly, is it normal to have depressions in the battery chart that display less battery than it shows later? How is it computed? Isn't just some logic level of the voltage battery?
Lastly, in the case of buying another battery, is it worthless to be genuine?
Thanks a lot
Someone close this thread, I double posted it:

Any app similar to Spare Parts to use for the NS4G?

I'm looking for something similar to the Spare Parts app to use on my NS4G. Spare Parts works with CM7, I believe, but none of the other ROMs, nor the stock ROM. For those interested, Spare Parts just FCs when you try to look at the battery information.
My main goal is to look at partial wake usage, to find out what apps are keeping the phone awake. I typically use Spare Parts in conjunction with the battery-use graph to monitor my battery.
Is anybody aware of anything similar that works on the NS4G, or in Gingerbread? What are the best apps to monitor battery usage? Not necessarily to save or conserve battery, but just to monitor the drainage?
Try this out.

Saw this when I was looking for apps to check battery usage on my NS. Worked ok for me.

Thank you, sir! That looks like it will do the trick.

[Q] Best Rom Desire S. Battery Wise!

What is the best ROM for Desire S in terms of battery.
I used virtuous unity 1.29.0 and it's battery backup was quite good then my original ROM.
But after updating to new virtuous unity 1.31.0 the battery backup goes quite bad.
Anyone know a good battery backup ROM for desire s?
Calibrate your battery, really works!
Instructions:
1. Turn your phone on and charge it for 8 hours our more
2. Deplug charger, turn your phone off And charger it fit one hour
3. Turn your phone on, wait 2 minutes, turn your phone off and charge it for one hour
4. Turn phone on and your battery life should be much better now

Don't forget to sacrifice a virgin and hire a shaman.
Cmon ppl! Li-Ion and Li-Poli batteries do not require forming (yeah its forming not formatting). Ni-Cd and Ni-MH were the types that required this.
In extreme situations (charging over 20hrs) you can even damage/reduce capacity of your phone's Li-Ion battery.

I'm saying that the type of the battery used in Desire S is not formable. Additionally in extreme situations you can damage it by overcharging it. This is more complicated, because it also depends on the type of charger, and charging hardware in the phone.
What DesisreS says looks exactly like forming process, hence my response.
What you (possibly) can do, is calibrate your device/os to properly read battery status and use it more efficiently. But this is done through some software tricks I don't know.
Our battery is smart.
Overcharging it won't do anything. It just cuts off the electricity when reaching 100%. Full voltage is around 4.2V. If you look at your voltage while charging, it's already at 4.2V at around 70%. I have no idea why it does that.
And at 0% it's not really empty. It still has around 3.5V. It gets dangerous at 3V where it won't be able to charge again.
Just clear your battery stats in recovery or use an app from the market and see what happens.
Read and search around the forum for more info.

You can use the app called battery calibration from the market for the calibration
Charge battery to 100% & run the app
This does not increase battery life but helps the OS read the battery more accurately & this needs to be done after installing a new ROM

Uhuh, this is what I mean. But lets go back to the original question, what are your experiences with different ROMs and battery life? I'm going to be Desire S user soon so I'm curious too.

LeeDroid ROM. Offers great battery life and very close to stock ROM. I got 1/2 day use on stock ROM with heavy use when I first got it, then put leedroid on, now I'm having 1 full day heavy use before I have to charge my phone (15%)
(Includes a lot of syncing, WiFi, web browsing, music, games etc the whole day)

[HELP THREAD] Is it possible to track live battery mAh?

Hi guys,
Is it possible to check the real time (live) battery mAh? Sometime battary percentage bar is quiet confusing especially for ppl who have many phones(not me) because different phone have different size of battery and it is very confusing if the battery is enough for his/her day.
If you not understand what i mean "live/real-time battery mAh", you can refer to the screenshot: tinypic.com/r/2i94bww/9
As shown in the red box, miui default security app accually have the function of tracking how much mAh the battery is, however it is not real-time/live and it will be great if anyone can suggest any app that can do this. If there is no app have this function, maybe this is a suggestion to apps developers.
