i´ve seen the isteam iphone app on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLus3gTLT2c&feature=PlayList&p=7994059EEA6E9EE0&index=6
is there a similar app for wm6-phones??
i think it would be a great screenlock app?!
This comes close to iBeer in terms of usefulness!
and it's not a locking app, AFAIK, it is just an app that will let you blow in the mic to build steam, and then does what's in the youtube video
i know that´s not a locking app. but it could be used as an app to lock the screen...

This app looks cool, but imagine you need to 'lock' the phone by blowing into the mic... I wonder how it looks on a crowded train.
I think pressing a button for s2u2 is faster than blowing into the mic + the screen will remain lock until I disable it, rather than the steam wears off slowly or accidentally shake it hard.

This looks pretty cool, but imagine having to wipe every pixel on the screen to unlock.
thats tedious. another massive waste of crap from the appstore
Hey guys, I've an Advent Vega, and would love if I could find a way to use the front camera to activate the screen when passing?
I'd leave it plugged in by the door, so as I'm leaving/coming home I can see the weather forecast and any tasks or emails waiting for me.
Any ideas guys n gals?

Use smart screen on/off app.. It uses proximity sensor to lock or unlock device.. you can probably Swype your hand at the sensor n unlock it..

That's aaalmost what would be ideal... just... i'd like it to be from the camera... for instance when I turn the coridor light on when I get home, or walk past it, so I can take a quick look passively without having to interact.
Anybody else got a suggestion? Maybe something paired with Tasker somehow?

One thing you must know if that your front camera cannot sense your motion or anything.. no hardware support for it.. It's just like how your eyes cannot detect smell..
At the max you can make use of your proximity sensor for that purpose..

Yes, I'm just wondering if there's a way to do it with a 3rd party app. Something that would keep the front camera turned on or take photos every second, and then continually process images for motion detection. Once detected, it would then activate the screen.

Awesome!
That's almost exactly what I'm looking for!
Coolness... now my old tablet can sit by the door and remind my pathetic brain of what I need to do (or what my gf has added to the calendar more than likely), give me a quick glance of recent emails, and show me the weather forecast so I don't get soaked .
Thanks for finding that!

You could also keep another smartphone on your person and have the two devices paired and set the phone left at home to wake up when the paired device comes within range.

Interesting Would this be done with tasker?

I'm not certain, regardless of the setup you use, you need to be aware that nothing will work to do this if the device that you want to wake is in sleep mode or if the device has a screen lock enabled, no matter what you do. You'd have to permanently disable your pass/pin/pattern lock on the device that you want to wake remotely so that the device can stay in a state where it can detect the paired device when it approaches. You would still need to unlock the "normal" lockscreen that would normally require you to swipe the screen, but there is an option that automatically unlocks the screen when a paired "trusted device" is detected.
There are some options available that can wake the device when a paired device is detected, provided that the device to be woken is not in deep sleep or has a pass/pin/pattern lock enabled. Combine that with the "trusted device" option and it should do what you want and none of it should require root.
There is also a more complicated method to have the device set to wake when the paired device comes in range, but it requires writing some code and implementing the code on the device. But I think there is a way to do this with just enabling/disabling some settings, pairing the devices and setting the paired device that you will keep with you as the "trusted device", either via built in settings(if the device has them) or by installing an app that lets you connect the device as a "trusted device".
What is the android version on the device that you want to wake up remotely?
The tablet is TB-X606F on android 10 and my phone is on 12. I have disabled all kinds of screen lock, even the swip, so as soon and you press the unlock button you are presented straight away with the desktop. I can't though see any options around unlocking when paired, I'm going to put Tasker on the tablet and see if there is any options for screen unlock when in range and screen off when not in range. Failing that whole idea, all I can think of is using Flux to dim the screen to 0 when I turn the living room lights off at night effectively rendering the screen off at nighttimes?
Okaaaaay silly question time .....
Anyone know of any applications that will unlock the "screen dim" via a hand swipe over the sensors on the front of my tab to wake it up ?
I don't use a screen lock as such and i like the screen to dim as its good on the battery but becomes a pain having to hit the power button to resuscitate it back to life ..... YES I AM LAZY
Tried this but no dice as tab is not supported ...... via this thread .... http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051677
Any ideas please peeps ? Free or Paid is cool.
Thanks
:good:
I found a app that claims do approximately what you want:
try this app
Thanks for the link but.....nope wont work with my tab,
Thanks anyway :highfive:
Hi guys
New to the forum.
I have been playing around with my car Bluetooth audio, trying to pair it up (was a nightmare). However I have noticed now that I have a second kind of lock screen? It's the little lock button on the bottom of the screen.
This stops me from using my finger print unless I swipe up to unlock, the first screen? To then gain access to Samsung's lock screen? It's so annoying! Can anyone tell me what it is and how I remove?
Thanks in advance
Sam

That is just an annoying aspect of the operating system. I hate it but there is no way to remove it.
I had same problem, the only way I could find to remove was to disable smart lock in settings.
I'm contemplating a Mate 9. Is it possible to use a Screen Off application, to quicly turn the screen off, without having to touch any buttons?
Many people ask about unlocking the screen in a prompt manner. When I'm short of time (e.g. changing buses) it's just as important to be able to turn the screen off. On my old Note 3 I'm using a Screen Off app (or is it a widget) on my home screen. With a good non-slippery cover, I'm almost able to turn the phone on and off with a single hand. I'd like something similar on Mate 9.
I use the gesture mode on Nova launcher to screen off

You can use any screen off app.
There is even a widget preinstalled.
The floating dock also lets you lock the screen as well as the built-in widget
thanks, everyone.
It looks good. Now I just need to wait three weeks for the price to drop.
I heard Mate 10 is due to be announced on 16-Oct-2017.
I intend to stay with 9 because I don't like the ultra-thin bezels and I prefer the wider screen over the narrow-elongated forms.

Same here. I use double tap gesture in Nova launcher mapped to open app "screen off and lock". Just like old LG phones. I wish I could get double tap to wake to work I hear it gives a lot of false wakes though.
For the Screen OFF action I firstly tried Nova and Tasker actions, but in the end the best solution by far is to use the Mate 9 built-in Screen Lock feature, triggered with both Nova activity and Tasker Assist Request (home button long-press).
The built-in Screen Lock feature is both more efficient and visually pleasing than third party solutions, and respects the Smart Unlock settings.
For Screen ON the best solutions for me are Gravity Screen app (free from Play Store) and Tasker proximity action if you are bound to that addiction, like me (I can help building that specific task if anyone is interested).
