So this week i'll be purchasing about three or four cheapo silicone/rubberized cases from amazon for the inspire 4G.
I will also purchase either a commuter or a case mate tough.
I'll be sure to post a comprehensive review and pictures comparing all the cases.
I need some help deciding which of the two to get though.
Commuter vs Case Mate Tough.
Opinions?
Do they both protect the camera when the phone is layed flat on a surface?
Thanks guys.
I have the case-mate tough. It protects the screen and camera when laid down flat. I like it a lot. It is very simple and the hard outer piece is nice for sliding in and out of pockets. Have not seen the commuter in person so no opinion on it.
From watching the various desire hd YouTube videos it seems they're pretty much the same except that the otterbox has the little covers for the mini USB and audio jack. I just ordered me up the case mate off at&T's website using the 25% off accessories code. Hoping for the best.

As personal preference, go with the Otterbox commuter. Its not bulky whatsoever. I'm positive you won't be disappointed.
My Commuter is the best phone case I've ever had. I'm sure the Casemate is pretty nice too.. vote with your wallet
I have both and I prefer the Otterbox because the Casemate back is more slippery. The Casemate does feel a little thinner to me. I currently don't have either on because I just love the way the phone feels =)... I'm sure I'll pay for it though.

I picked up the casemate tough this afternoon and an invisible shield screen protector (which I hate n sucks to install) and I love this case. I couldn't even find anywhere to order the otter that wasn't sold out or over $40

I have tried all of them...Otterbox is the best IMO. On any phone...
I'll go with the casemate tough.
I don't like the "Otter" logo on the back of the otter case and the fact that the buttons are covered.
Other than that I don't think I would have a preference.
Will post review as soon as i receive it.
what about the Seido cases?
Anyone know about or prefer the Innocase II/ [email protected]??

I just bought the platinum series today from best buy for 35.00. I like it so far. It came with the holster and it doesn't put a lot of bulk on the phone.
UPDATE
Case holds up great. Just slipped in ice and landed on the phone. The phone did not come out the holster at all. No physical damage to the phone, but the ice did break and the phone got water damaged. I was able to exchange it at Walmart though. Seems like a good case besides no water protection lol.
Jumped the gun on the Otterbox Commuter and I have to say I really like it. It came in 2 parts, the rubber and the hard case which goes together. The volume buttom and the power button has a nice feel to them, doesnt make pushing them any harder. The screen protector that it came with was a bit smaller than the Inspire screen because the box actually says it is for Desire HD.
Going to visit mobilecity in China town today for cases, do you think Case-Mate in blue is manly? Can't post link yet.
just got my case mate tough and i love it ... the only problem i have is the volume buttons are a little harder to push but power/lock is unaffected. however that doesnt really cause a major problem for me because i use the audio manager widget most of the time

did you make sure that the volume rocker was all the way thru the slot on the side of the hard plastic? i had this issue too, and thats what fixed it.
Does the rubber part of the case collect alot of pocket lint?

Got the casemate tough from eBay for 18 bucks. Happy so far. Makes the phone thicker though.

Just got mine today, came with a screen protector.
fits great, has soft feel and is not slippery in the hand at all.
Its my second case-mate I've owned and I'm definitely satisfied. If you want the right case the first time and not to deal with the riff raff, this Is for you.

just ordered , will post info when i get it
just got in the mail couple of minutes ok. Great purchase, very light and tight on the phone , like OP said comes with a screen protector (which am not using) and a cloth to wipe your screen down , which leave it like new too
It acually comes off without a struggle too, which it seems a lot of these style cases lack. Cheers

Just ordered as well. I've been using OtterBox for my T-Mobile G2, but the tab attaching the front piece to the phone on OtterBox case is broken. We'll see how well case-mate case holds up.
Still a little pricey for me, the rubber ones one ebay have the same rubbery feel and also look and protect the same for less then $5. Just my opinion though
how rubbery is it? The original case I bought from Tmobile would get stuck in my pocket when I would try and pull it out. Now I am rocking a clear case but one of the tabs recently broke so I am looking for another
Its not rubbery to the point that its hard to take out of pocket, just feels nice in the hand, and not as slippery as a gloss finish.
Spending $20 bucks to adequately protect a device that costs $500 out of contract is well worth it imo.
Like I said, I reccomend it to the people not interested in wading through the waves of ebay garbage for $1.99

like the name says this case is really light, but protects your phone well
I've got my DZ with the Barely There case for about a month now, and I'm very happy with it. You don't even notice the screen protector, and the case itself doesn't make your phone look like a new refridgerator, but it does make your phone feel like it's sturdy enough to survive an accidental drop on the ground.
I recommend the CM BT case to every DZ user
Can this be store bought? I've been looking for a Screen protector that includes a case!
I was actually not aware of this brand (Case-Mate) before, and was therefor very surprised to see that the case i bought for 5$ in a little Chinese shop in manhattan looks 99% the same (only difference i could see is the hole on top right corner of the back, as i've seen in several other cases, but not mine.)
i think for 1/4 of the price, its well worth it
Thanks for the pics bro

Really now?
Just found this case, haven't seen it here yet, so I figured I'd share. Just ordered mine, I'll update with pics when it arrives.
Can't post links yet...it's at myincipio.com
Looks really nice, wish they had more colors.....
I hate how hard it is to find a NICE LOOKING and practical case for any phone other than the stupid iPhone. I almost wish I had an iPhone solely for the case options lol
Looks comparable to the Case Mate Barely There series
Case-Mate Barely There > Incipio Feather Case
I had the Feather case on my iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4. Earlier versions were great, but as they got popular, quality went down and the soft-touch finish isn't as durable. Used my first Barely There on my Nexus One and now my Inspire 4G and the soft-touch finish on it is way more durable.
Arrived today, fits perfectly, so I'm fairly pleased.
Looks nice thanks for the pics. The only thing I'm curious of is the volume buttons. They seem to be "sunken" in the cutout and seem like it would be a pain pressing them?
I actually find it easier to hit the volume buttons now, but I had trouble finding them before. Now with the case cutout I know exactly where to hit with just a quick brush from my hand.

I beg to differ. Feather>Barely There
The first Barely there I ever got was for the iPod Touch 2G 3ish years ago. I went to put it on and it was so flimsy and eventually wound up breaking. All other Barely there's I've had in the future have been just as flimsy, but I've known better and hadn't broken them. The Feather on the other hand has a way better soft-touch finish and coves the device better. Higher quality feeling & looking as well.

I have to agree... Had the Feather on a iPhone 3GS and it was awesome. Friend got one for his iPhone 4, and the finish rubbed off soon after. When I switched to the Captivate, first thing I bought was a Feather case. Finish started to rub off in 1 week. Feather wasn't available for Inspire so ended up getting the Barely There. Had it since Inspire launch, and the case is still perfect.

I, also, got the Barely There. I was very pleased with it in all but one regard, The little strip of plastic between the volume rocker and the screen, tended to be mal-aligned inasmuch that it actually partially covered the volume rocker. Not a problem, just whipped out the snap knife and removed the strip. It has fit perfectly ever since the modification and still looks as good as it did when I purchased it.
That one cost me $23.00 US, I ordered one for my T9193 Telus HD2 at the same time and it was only $7.00 US. What's not right about this picture? LOL
To anyone who owns this case:
Does it protect the camera area, as in the part that would be in contact with a table if the inspire was placed on a table?
Thanks!

The Case Mate Barely There case does!
I have a black barely there and I love it.
Thin profile, nice feel, and it doesn't diminish the phones simple good looks.
Oh yeah, it also offers decent protection, it covers the camera nicely and has the proper speaker and mic cutouts.

I'm upgrading to an Inspire soon and I was wondering if I should get a silicone case or a plastic case. I didn't have a case on my Aria (which I'm using right now) and the screen is shattered so I decided to buy a case. So which case is better? Which can protect the phone better and which one would you prefer (as Inspire users) looks better? Thanks

It does add some bulk. That's why I like the commuter. It doesn't have as much protection, but it also doesn't have too much bulk. It kind of meets in the middle.

i highly recommend anything made by otterbox, everything they have gives great protection to your phone, believe me, ive dropped my phone too many times and so far nothing bad or drastic has occured.
Been using the Platinum series from best buy since the phone was released. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same as the surface combo by Seidio. Dropped it a couple of times, no damage. Screen is covered by the holster.
I personally use the qmadix case that i got from my work, and its been great coupled with my invisi-shield screen protector.
Case mate pop I have the commuter, but prefer the case mate pop
Seidio CONVERT Combo for HTC Inspire 4G
Its makes the phone huge but i drive alot and I made a clip holder in truck to use navi and music. It has 3 Layers plus the clip. I payed $50 and now it like $35 at bestbuy.
I need a really thin case. What do you guys recommend?
Posted with my model confused HTC Inspire via XDA premium.
Otterbox Defender all the way is my choice. Does make phone a little bulky but as clumsy as I am I dropped it already 3 times and as pricey as this phone is I dont care about outside looks I care about protection for it.
Otterbox all the way. I have the commuter and my first one got a crack From a nasty drop I sent one email to them and they responded immediately and within a day they had gotten me a replacement case shipped out. They have some of the best customer care I've ever seen, not to mention the case most definitely has saved my phone on a number of occasions.
Sent through the power of Cthulhu!
Otterbox commuter case is good, not too big either. The defender has more protection but it is big and bulky.
A TPU case is what I use.
The platinum case from bestbuy is only 29.99 and it does not hinder the GPS signal strength. Cases that cover the area between the flash and speaker weaken GPS signal cause the GPS radio is placed there.

Cover Case for the Inspire 4g
I am using Moshi cover case for Inspire 4 g which is very useful. It was made for HD7 but it fits with inspire.
I use an Otterbox Defender and it saved my phone once after a drop. They are a bit more money, however you can get a decent price on Amazon. Had a speck when I first bought the phone. It broke 3 weeks later just putting it in and out of my pocket.

I'm using the Seidio Surface case for mine and I do like it. I've had a few drops onto hardwood floor and concrete slab in the garage and it has protected it great so far. However, with the price of the otterbox down from what I remember seeing it back when I first got my phone it might be well worth it to get that one, as it's not much more than the Seidio now.
Otter box defender...hands down. My Co worker's husband was so impressed with mine, he had me order him one for his Vivid.
Bought it from newegg hellafied cheaper than the otterbox site.
Sent using rabid badgers and two tin cans.
What's the consensus opinion on the D3O cases sold by T-Mobile?
I bought one with my Sensation today, and I would like know it's worth the $30, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of information about them on the board.
I bought it because I don't want a repeat of the fate the befell my late HD2 when one day it flew out of my hand 10 feet backwards and landed on concrete, shattering literally the entire screen. There's no cure for clumsy, so my hope is that the shock-absorption technology will protect my phone from my ailment.
I got the clear one on mine it's great I can throw it Against the floor and it won't do anything. Overall it's a great product I don't regret purchasing it at all.

Do you use the plastic backing? I find it awfully odd that the only thing protecting the back is a piece of plastic. (Doubly odd since the D3O case for the SGII is a 1-piece unit with rubber backing.)

there is not a case available that will protect the screen completely. Most will help drops. It's a sacrifice of size versus your clumsiness. LOL.
I would love a good looking and protective case. with a rubber inside and not so slick outside so it doesn't slip from my hands.
I have seen the 3DO. I think for the price you could find better IMHO.

I was confused what you were saying at first, but I think you have the one-piece cover and I have the band (which only covers the edge but which comes with a second plastic piece to cover the back - no D3O material in the back). There's also a dual-layer cover similar to the Case-Mate Tough and Otterbox Commuter, but it's not available for the Sensation 4G, apparently.

I especially am displeased that the band costs more than the cover. I don't get it.
If you're going to get the 3DO, get the one with a solid back and orange/clear around it.
I bought that for my GF, I have the black band with the clear back. It's a PITA to get that back plastic on straight AND the edges love to dig up my old Zagg and my current Skinomi screen protector. They peel the edge up...it's a pain.
As far as protection, they are awesome.
IMO...your phone is safe unless you suffer a direct hit to the screen past the case edges (like something sticking up, rock, etc.)
D30 Is military spec shock absorption material...it's good stuff.
Had both the band and the full clear case. Agreed on the band with the above post: it's a big PITA to line up and seems like it will scratch very easily, so returned it and went with clear D3O case which I have on now. Great protection IMO. A couple of things to keep in mind when you're shopping for one: check the alignment of power button and volume rocker. Out of 10-12 clear covers that I tried in different stores (T-Mobile) only 2 were perfectly aligned. Problem with misaligned power button is that pressing anywhere on upper part of the case would press the power button and lock/unlock your phone, and volume rocker buttons would only work one way/not work at all. Both very annoying. But when you find the one that works - it works perfect.
Also, on about 7 of them you could see cracks in D3O material through the outside of the clear case. On the inside it appeared perfect, so I figured if I was looking at any solid color case I wouldn't see it at all, so I went with it. Plus, the cracks were present on both of the perfectly working cases, so I didn't have much choice since I was set on a D3O case. Overall, I think it's worth the money.
That's my $.02 on it.
