I'm upgrading to an Inspire soon and I was wondering if I should get a silicone case or a plastic case. I didn't have a case on my Aria (which I'm using right now) and the screen is shattered so I decided to buy a case. So which case is better? Which can protect the phone better and which one would you prefer (as Inspire users) looks better? Thanks

So far my favorite is the otterbox commuter. I plan to buy the defender soon to see how I like it.

It does add some bulk. That's why I like the commuter. It doesn't have as much protection, but it also doesn't have too much bulk. It kind of meets in the middle.

i highly recommend anything made by otterbox, everything they have gives great protection to your phone, believe me, ive dropped my phone too many times and so far nothing bad or drastic has occured.
Been using the Platinum series from best buy since the phone was released. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same as the surface combo by Seidio. Dropped it a couple of times, no damage. Screen is covered by the holster.
I personally use the qmadix case that i got from my work, and its been great coupled with my invisi-shield screen protector.
Case mate pop I have the commuter, but prefer the case mate pop
Seidio CONVERT Combo for HTC Inspire 4G
Its makes the phone huge but i drive alot and I made a clip holder in truck to use navi and music. It has 3 Layers plus the clip. I payed $50 and now it like $35 at bestbuy.
I need a really thin case. What do you guys recommend?
Posted with my model confused HTC Inspire via XDA premium.
Otterbox Defender all the way is my choice. Does make phone a little bulky but as clumsy as I am I dropped it already 3 times and as pricey as this phone is I dont care about outside looks I care about protection for it.
Otterbox all the way. I have the commuter and my first one got a crack From a nasty drop I sent one email to them and they responded immediately and within a day they had gotten me a replacement case shipped out. They have some of the best customer care I've ever seen, not to mention the case most definitely has saved my phone on a number of occasions.
Sent through the power of Cthulhu!
Otterbox commuter case is good, not too big either. The defender has more protection but it is big and bulky.
A TPU case is what I use.
The platinum case from bestbuy is only 29.99 and it does not hinder the GPS signal strength. Cases that cover the area between the flash and speaker weaken GPS signal cause the GPS radio is placed there.

Cover Case for the Inspire 4g
I am using Moshi cover case for Inspire 4 g which is very useful. It was made for HD7 but it fits with inspire.
I use an Otterbox Defender and it saved my phone once after a drop. They are a bit more money, however you can get a decent price on Amazon. Had a speck when I first bought the phone. It broke 3 weeks later just putting it in and out of my pocket.

I'm using the Seidio Surface case for mine and I do like it. I've had a few drops onto hardwood floor and concrete slab in the garage and it has protected it great so far. However, with the price of the otterbox down from what I remember seeing it back when I first got my phone it might be well worth it to get that one, as it's not much more than the Seidio now.
Otter box defender...hands down. My Co worker's husband was so impressed with mine, he had me order him one for his Vivid.
Bought it from newegg hellafied cheaper than the otterbox site.
Sent using rabid badgers and two tin cans.

Will you use a case or carry the phone naked? Me personally i will be using a case and screen protector on mine. Ideas?
Looking for one now. Not sure what kind of case I want though.
Check out the seidio innocase II case and holster combo on their website. this may be the one i get because its a very nice case. But i'm wondering if it will interfere with the screen protector? i had this problem when i had the case for my 3g in the past.
Although Im not a fan of bulk, I may be going with a commuter for now just cause I like my buttons covered and a zagg for the front. Probably gonna ebay the commuter for a cheaper cost though. I just am not a fan of having buttons exposed.
Great Deal
Naked of course!
I just ordered the Case Mate Tough in black for the Desire HD. I've had it for a few other phones and it is an amazing case. It's very similar to the Otter Commuter, but I just like the fit.of the tough better.
Naked.....
Nakey. I havent dropped a phone since I had a flip phone. Something about using a $400 phone prevents me from dropping it

I use a case (Platinum something from BestBuy because I had a gift card) not because I'm afraid of dropping my phone, but more afraid of something hitting it in my pocket

So this week i'll be purchasing about three or four cheapo silicone/rubberized cases from amazon for the inspire 4G.
I will also purchase either a commuter or a case mate tough.
I'll be sure to post a comprehensive review and pictures comparing all the cases.
I need some help deciding which of the two to get though.
Commuter vs Case Mate Tough.
Opinions?
Do they both protect the camera when the phone is layed flat on a surface?
Thanks guys.
I have the case-mate tough. It protects the screen and camera when laid down flat. I like it a lot. It is very simple and the hard outer piece is nice for sliding in and out of pockets. Have not seen the commuter in person so no opinion on it.
From watching the various desire hd YouTube videos it seems they're pretty much the same except that the otterbox has the little covers for the mini USB and audio jack. I just ordered me up the case mate off at&T's website using the 25% off accessories code. Hoping for the best.

As personal preference, go with the Otterbox commuter. Its not bulky whatsoever. I'm positive you won't be disappointed.
My Commuter is the best phone case I've ever had. I'm sure the Casemate is pretty nice too.. vote with your wallet
I have both and I prefer the Otterbox because the Casemate back is more slippery. The Casemate does feel a little thinner to me. I currently don't have either on because I just love the way the phone feels =)... I'm sure I'll pay for it though.

I have tried all of them...Otterbox is the best IMO. On any phone...
I'll go with the casemate tough.
I don't like the "Otter" logo on the back of the otter case and the fact that the buttons are covered.
Other than that I don't think I would have a preference.
Will post review as soon as i receive it.
what about the Seido cases?

I just bought the platinum series today from best buy for 35.00. I like it so far. It came with the holster and it doesn't put a lot of bulk on the phone.
UPDATE
Case holds up great. Just slipped in ice and landed on the phone. The phone did not come out the holster at all. No physical damage to the phone, but the ice did break and the phone got water damaged. I was able to exchange it at Walmart though. Seems like a good case besides no water protection lol.
Jumped the gun on the Otterbox Commuter and I have to say I really like it. It came in 2 parts, the rubber and the hard case which goes together. The volume buttom and the power button has a nice feel to them, doesnt make pushing them any harder. The screen protector that it came with was a bit smaller than the Inspire screen because the box actually says it is for Desire HD.
Going to visit mobilecity in China town today for cases, do you think Case-Mate in blue is manly? Can't post link yet.
just got my case mate tough and i love it ... the only problem i have is the volume buttons are a little harder to push but power/lock is unaffected. however that doesnt really cause a major problem for me because i use the audio manager widget most of the time

did you make sure that the volume rocker was all the way thru the slot on the side of the hard plastic? i had this issue too, and thats what fixed it.
Does the rubber part of the case collect alot of pocket lint?

Looks like Seidio and Otterbox will both be releasing protection for our Sensation 4G devices real soon. IMO, Seidio provides a better product than Otterbox. I've used both, and Seidio to me just seems more stylish for the protection (I'll be buying the Active combo).

Is there an eta on these? I also was the active combo.

Pretty sure that by the end of this month there will be something... well that's what I hope for.
I'll be going with SURFACE, not that bulky.
They usually have something ready for purchase within a couple of weeks after putting up the "coming soon" spot.
glad to see these companies finally take notice to this device. ill be picking up the otterbox. had one for my nexus and liked it a lot. normally i dont have a handset long enough for some of these companies to put out a quality case (besides the generic gel ones)
I considered otter, but need a holster for work.

I also prefer Seidio...
Been waiting for Seidio...hope to see something real soon
I had seidio on my nexus one and liked it alot since it was the case and the holder. Am curious about otterbox but don't want anything too bulky.
Will probably just stick with seidio since I used them before.

I got the Gelli case from Case Mate and love it. I was worried about it feeling cheap but it's not at all - it's very firm and streamlined and looks nice without adding bulk. It also covers the volume rocker and power buttons which is good cause the crooked power button was really annoying me; it makes it feel more solid.
I've used Seidio for a few years now. I like their products but build quality doesn't look as good as Otterbox. Otterbox makes bulkier cases that are more expensive. Seidio is a step up from ebay generic junk. The only reason I haven't bought anything from Otterbox is that I usually have to take my phones out of their cases to use car docks (HTC OEM docks) and that takes too long with Otterbox.
i hope they built a good case this time because the case they built for the mytouch 4g was horrible!
I love Seidio's InnoCases with their awesome spring-clip belt clip. Can't wait.

Just ordered the Sapphire Blue Active Combo with the 15% discount. I really want the Trident Aegis but the holster seals the deal cuz I hate stuff (except money) in my pockets.
All cases are now live fellas! Dont forget the summer11 code for 15%. Black Active combo...here I come!
and no TPU in the case.
after an otterbox defender or commuter or case-mate tough but not sure which case i should go for, advice please
I'm using otterbox and I'm happy with it. No problems with receiving any GPS signal...
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
I'm using otterbox commuter only problem with it is part of the top part has broken off which seems to be a common problem. I believe they have lifetime warranty though. On another note it's now actually alot easier getting out of the case when I need to.
Otterbox
I love Otterbox and no problems with blocking signals
Using the CaseMate Tough for the last 6 months or so. Can't fault it. Extremely robust, no cracks etc.
No issues with GPS signal (that is limited to the mirror-silver version of CaseMate's "Barely There" product)
Otter Box
Definitely Otter box. I have had my Commuter for about a month now and no issues.
i love my otterbox commuter series but it gathers dust very quickly..

I switched from my casemate tough to an otterbox commuter because otterbox cases are supposed to be some of the best. I quite enjoy both cases BUT the CM tough is holding up better. The top part of my commuter has broken loose. Also, the commuter is very slick. The tough has a texture to it. My commuter took several slides off the car seat or out of my lap. Nothing major but kind of annoying.

My otterbox broke after a few months, quite poor quality to be honest, no drops or heavy bangs, just parts of the plastic section developed cracks. Using a casemate now.

Case-mate Tough rules!
I just got my case mate tough case and it's working great for me. It feels solid and looks nice on the phone.
I have all three cases, and mostly use the Defender since it has a belt holster, and it offers the most protection. I also like the material of the Defender case as well.
I prefer the Tough Case over the Commuter because of the grip it has, the Commuter is too slick IMO.
I've had the CaseMate Tough for about 6 months.
I can't fault it. It looks the same as it did on day 1. No damage at all to corners etc.
I must say I don't take the phone out a lot, but when I do, it comes out and goes back in perfectly. The silicone inner skin has not stretched at all since I got it either.
So it has passed the test of time
I use an Otter Box Defender and you could drive a tank over it, my phone is 11 months old and looks perfect out of the box.
Otterbox kicks a**...end of story.
Otterbox rules.

Bought a Otterbox -> send back
Bought a case mate -> send back
now im using a bugatti leather case
Been using Otterbox defender for 3 months now, no problem dropped it a few times sometimes it just flew out of my hand as I was turning around the phone with my finger. BUT NO WORRIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS LOL friends ask why did I buy this case which is so bulky. I just threw it up the sky and watch as it hit the cemented floor while my friends in shocked. NOTHING HAPPEN LOL didn't need to talk so much as the demonstration always works
Since I always rush around due to my job, all my previous phone dropped (well no cracked screen but case only most of them) w805i, k700i, x1, and.. er.. i remember having a bulky nokia phone... I can't seem to remember the name thought... looks like one of those mini laptop type. Anyway all of it experience drop while being used by me. But the conclusion is, I am really happy with this case as it serve its purpose
Im using the thin aluminium one from OBO store. For the price it is pretty good.

Wow these new otterbox cases are way better then the old ones. The plastic isnt flimsy anymore and it fits it perfectly on the One S. I've spoken on it and used speaker phone and it doesn't make it harder to hear or be heard. A deff good buy and on amazon or ebay its only $35
I was wondering if anyone has seen any accessories that can fit to the otterbox defender case? Before I had my HTC HD2 and I had a car mount that fits the otterbox case perfectly.
I'm getting mine tomorrow. Does it come with a screen protector? Cause I like my InvisibleShield HD screen protector and want to keep using it.

I prefer my Skinomi TechSkin because it is the same thing but cheaper. I've used the Zagg products before, but wasn't impressed enough to get a replacement when my keys stretched it in my pocket and ruined it. I do love my TechSkin, however.
Got my defender today..Not that impressed with the built in screen protector. It seems to bubble and give you a tactical feel to it.
otterbox defender vs commuter
I'm thinking about buying this case but im not to sure.
For you guys that already have it i've got some questions.
This is for the defender:
How much weight does it add?
Since it has a screen protector I don't need to keep my old one on do i?
Does it have a non belt clip piece? (flat back)
For the commuter:
Sounds like this one doesn't fit correctly any feed back?
^^ No, OB Commuter Case fits well. Had one on my One S for a few weeks and been happy with it.
Just got mine today. First impression is great product. Will post in a few days after some real world usage.

I just got my Otterbox Defender case and I absolutely love it. Its a little bulky but I take my phone with me on my bicycle and this case really has the protection I need in case I drop it from the bike.
I like my Otterbox defender very much. Makes the phone a bit bulky but protection should be good. The only thing I recommend is to throw away the built in screen protector as it makes the readability of the screen really bad. I replaced it with a normal clear screen protector and now I am satisfied.

I don't notice any problems with the built-in screen protector. It works well and does't obscure anything on the screen, as far as I can tell.

I've got both now too, I ordered the Defender and they sent a Commuter by mistake, said keep it and we'll refund since we don't have the right one. Just got the Defender from another seller.
Build quality on both is really excellent, it took me a couple of minutes to work out how to get the Defender apart to get the phone in, it's that well put together.
The screen protectors on both leave a lot to be desired though, the one on the Commuter is good but leaves the top of the glass bare, the one built in to the Defender is just awful, it works fine but makes the screen very grainy.
My phones are subject to lots of bumps and knocks at work and good all round protection, especially for the screen when not in use, is important. The Defender with the addition of a decent screen protector fits the bill perfectly.
I got Commuter for mine, quite happy with it, but have to agree with the screen protector tho just doesn't cover all the screen so I left it off but in the 3 months I've had this case I've put it through a beating with no damage to my phone

otterbox defender vs commuter
i would go with the defender because what i see on the website it has a belt clip which the commuter doesn't have
Bit annoyed today, the retaining clip on my Otterbox holster snapped off while I was taking the phone out of it.
I'll get a chance to see how good Otterbox after sales service is.
