Hello,
i'm having problems with my galaxy sl, i don't know if it's from updating the version to 2.3.6 or if from rooting. the device when operate is heavy and the wireless take 2 mins to lunch and sometimes it comes with error sign on the wireless setting.
i want to do a hardware reset probably will help.
thank you
there isn't anything called hardware reset.if you want to reset then you can clear cache from recovery menu and then factory data reset data reset(if you're rooted)
but before doing this you must know that you'll lose all application and SMS's and phone contacts.please make a backup of these before data resetting.
how can i know if my phone is rooted? is there an application here that i can download it? i know i rooted it but then i think i might unrooted it but i'm not sure.
thank you
swith off the phone and then switch on again while pressing the volume up button+home key+power key.if a custom recovery shows up(with blue fonts) then you're rooted.
The easiest way to know if you are rooted is to check for the superusr icon in your app drawer
Press thanks if i helped

There is, I believe, a problem with the firmware on my Samsung Infuse phone that causes programs that have been installed, uninstalled, and installed again to be unable to save settings associated with the program. Is there a way to fix this without resorting to a hard reset? A hard reset is really a lot of work! Surely there is some way to fix this issue!
Try clearing Cache on CMW recovery.
To go into recovery:
If you are on a custom rom with extended power menu just select recovery then clear cache. Advanced clear dalvik cache.
If you are on stock rom or dont have extended power menum turn off the phone then hold volume up and down and hold also the power button, 5 second or so after the Samsung logo appears release the power button but keep vol up and down pressed then about 5 secs later release them also, that will get you to android recovery. Clear cache there.
or download a custom rom..
they're so much better then stock ROMS.
but i would think you'd have to do a reset.
use odin its not that much work you do like 4 clicks and you just wait 2 mins and your phones reset to stock again.

i'm not sure if i understood your problem correctly.
some programs may not install properly on the phone.
in those case, go to settings/manage application/
go to sd card and list them
try moving the trouble some ones to the phone.
if you do a reset on stock rom, take out the external sd card first or it will erase that too
My phone got crazy yesterday:
i don't know exactly when it started but when i start my phone up it says Media Scanning.
Then it says media scanned and then it goes like showing on the screenshot attached for hours, even after restarting.

Yes buddy. You can reboot your phone to Stock recovery (as you said you are not rooted and i hope u have not installed CWM). Switch off ur phone and switch on. When samsung logo appears, just press menu key+Volume up button. It will boot into recovery mode. From there you can wipe data/Factory reset your phone.
thanks for this tipp helped me out but do you know why the media kept scanning

Hello
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 3G, 16 G which is not available in the US so I bought it from abroad
It was going well until I recently tried to open the contacts
White screen appears for some minutes and then a note appear saying: contacts not responding, want to close or wait
I tried to restart the note, tried to backup and restart but still nothing
I don't know whether to format or try another software than mine (ICS 4.0.4) or should I return the tablet?
Please advice
Never heard of JB 4.0.8... JB is 4.1.1, 4.1.2 or 4.2.1...
Sounds like you may have a knockoff tablet....
4.0.4 is ICS but never heard of 4.0.8...

Sorry for that
it is ICS 4.04

Try a factory reset first, Go into recovery - Hold power button and volume up until samsung logo appears then release power. Keep holding volume up until recovery menu appears.
Go to data/cache clear and do that. You will need to backup anything you don't want to loose as this resets to factory, clears all data.
If this doesn't fix then take back but not until you factory reset inside settings and then do the above again. This should clear out everything and reset to factory...

Hi all, I recently got a second hand Samsung galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) as a gift from a friend. I realized it had a problem that every time I went on certain applications especially settings I'd get a warning saying 'Unfortunately,'said app(settings)' has stopped.' I decided to factory reset my phone using the 'volume up, home button and power key' and I also wiped cache and even rebooted it, yet the problem still persists. Now when I try to turn on my phone and I get onto the set-up page when I try to press next it says 'Unfortunately settings has stopped' and takes me back to the start which I believe is called a boot-loop, I'm not sure though. I'm not to sure how my friend managed to get the phone to this state before he gave it to me and I think it may have either been that he downloaded a faulty application or that he tried to update the phone and then this problem occurred. Now I'm not too experienced when it comes to Custom Roms and things but I heard there is a solution which requires you to press the volume down and power key in order to download a Custom Rom but I'm not sure how I'll download one without the help of my phone(which remains in the boot-loop). And I'm also 100% sure that no Roms have been downloaded on the phone ever.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

serach for flashing stock s4 ROMs via odin ....that should help for sure ....you can flash a factory ROM with this method and think your problem will be solved
Download factory ROM and download custom recovery(like philz touch or twrp), flash custom recovery via Odin...if its flashed successfully, goto recovery mode ( by pressimg buttons..sorry I don't know much about Samsung but I know to flash ROMs) if u entered recovery mode first wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe to install new ROM, then goto the option "install from SD" select the factory ROM package and wait until its finished fully....after flashing reboot your phone...and then ur phone is fully fixed..hope u will get ur problem solved soon....(thanx me if its helped am new to xda and I need some fame for helping more no. I think downloading and flashing the rom from a computer would be easier. Just download the correct files from sammobile and flash them via Odin. Also you will need Samsung drivers, you can get them by installing kies or if you search here in the forums im pretty sure you'll find them too.
