I have installed the xoom zone rom and I read that it is based off of the verizon image, but I own the wifi version. When looking through /system/apps I've noticed what seem to me a few 3g specific apk's like mobile data and phone. What can I safely remove, if anything? Thank you.

Just leave everything be. Better safe than sorry.

There was a post in early May from someone who tried to delete those apps. Xoom bootlooped and he had to do a nandroid restore.

Try to use the titanium wiki . There are quite a few Youtube videos are available to help you out.

since this is the i777 forum, my guess would be that your section is not here. if you don't know what section is yours, you probably shouldn't be rooting and modding your phone.
sorry to be so harsh.

Not harsh at all. Following directions properly is the main ingredient for successful flashing or using apps that require root. Since restoring with TiBu across different ROMs can definitely mess up your phone if not done correctly, one needs to know exactly what they are doing. Not being able to find the correct forum is a bad omen.
Moving to a more appropriate thread...
Guys didn't wanna start a new thread and clog it up so ill ask here. With the new update a titanium backup, isn't it supposed to I have update zips that restore with data? when I restore through recovery after complete wipes, the app's install but there is no data. I was hoping that this zip would restored exactly the same as it would in normal restore processes. Example: SwiftKey needs setup again, all accounts need to be signed back in, etc

I download plenty of beta version apps and homebrew apps (not from market). Is there a way to update these without losing app data by uninstalling and reinstalling the new version. I don't want to lose the app data.
Thanks

Just install the new versions over the old ones. (App will be updated without data loss)
It doesn't let me do that. It tells me the previous version must be uninstalled before installing the new one.

In that case, use an app such as Titanium Backup to backup your data, then uninstall the old app and install the new one. After that, restore the data.
Do I need to root my phone to use that app?

it doesnt let me update , it forces me to uninstall making me lose data.
As stated the only way to do it is do back up the data with titanium back up. Uninstall the app, install new one and then restore the settings.
Also be careful about getting apks from places other then the official app stores or here

Is rooting safe?

As safe as installing apps you get outside of the play store. Safer even. Just do your research

Odd that it says that. I wish I had an answer for you man. You said you restored them from rom toolbox... So it still shows up like that? Does it do the same with the play store app installed?

I'd say you have a problem with ROM toolbox. IT doesn;t play nice with a lot of ROMs
Try NOT restoring apps. Can you dl fresh install from play store?
If so, dl app from store and only restore app data after...

Yea I saw the screenshots. I use both titanium backup and rom toolbox and I've never had an issue from either no matter the rom. I prefer TB to Rom even though I own licenses to both versions. And yes matter of fact the last screenshot says COMPATIBLE if you were to look at it again.

After entering my Google account details, Google Play decided to install SuperSU, Avast and SD Maid, all of which I had installed on my old phone (I did have a lot more apps in addition to those). Does anyone know why?
Thanks.
Any idea?
Just uninstall then if you don't what the apps on your device. Pointless post

Because your Google account is set to install apps from old phones to your new one.

And where can I disable it?
You should have disabled on your previous phone if you didn't want the option.

I am aware I can uninstall apps, thanks. You didn't answer my question, so your post is the pointless one - no questions are pointless.

I don't know the exact reason but my phone only reinstalls certain apps as well when I get a new phone, or factory restore.
