Problem flashing UCLD2 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Im on Seans SKY ICS. The latest leak. Its a great ROM. Mainly for me because everything seems to work properly with almost no FCs. My only problem with the rom is the modem/radio that came with it. I have terrible signal where I live. But after I installed everything, I litterally have to stand at the door/window to make/recieve phone calls. Some have reported good signal with the new radio, but not me. Everyone seems to report slower data speeds. So I decided to flash UCLD2 and see if it would help any at all. But no matter what I do the bandbase always says "unknown". Is it compatible with the new rom? I came from 2.3.6 with UCLA3. Now signal still sucked, but nowhere near as bad as UCLE2 that came with the leak. My steps were:
Reboot to recovery.
wipe cache
wipe D. cache
flash radio
reboot
fix permissions in rom manager
reboot to recovery again
fix permissions in advanced.
reboot system.
Ive done this 3 times....still refuses to work. What am I diong wrong?
Also, can I flash UCLA3 that came from gingerbread 2.3.6?

How about you try this: flash the new ucle rom from mohan his ics rom is compatible with a wide range of radios, go through each one one at a time until signal is sufficient for you maybe one will give you way better reception

So your saying maybe its the ROM that wont let me install UCLD2?

Issues with Radio images and ROMs

Alright I am lost.
I was using Rav's Rom with the KB3 radio, but I got bored. SO I tried out du5t3r's ROM with the KD1 radio he had at the bottom of his page. The data kept working, but I got bored with the ROM and flashed Supesop's 8.2 still running with the KD1 radio.
Here's where the radio/data issues start coming in. Supesop's ROM wouldn't get any data connection. At all. I even tried flashing the other radio images (KB1 and KB3), but both yielded the same results....no data.
So I tried flashing Inifinity's 1.1.0 ROM. This yielded a slightly different result. I get data (grey radio scale) but it never turns green....therefore I cannot download anything from the market nor will it connect to my gtalk. I flashed ALL three radios (Kb1 KB3 KD1), yet the results were all the same. Grey scale, never green.
I tried reflashing Rav's ROM...all three radios only yielded the grey data.
So now I am back to bu5t3r's rom with the KD1. It gives me the green bars, and I am fully connected...
But what was the matter with the other roms? I never had trouble with data and radio images until I flashed bu5t3rs ROM...And I have been flashing roms for a while, so I always went through the proper steps. And I never messed with the kernels with these ROMs either except with bu5t3rs (i flashed netarchy's). I am lost. Hmph.
Thoughts? Help?

[Q] KF1 radio with telus ?

Well, here goes.
I've been reading alot for quite a while, and learning everything I could around this place. Thanks to tall who contribute.
I'm running NScollab, 1.0.42, with matrix 8.0 kernel.
Currently on the XXKB3 baseband.
Following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
I tried flashing the new KF1 radio for the nexus S. No luck. Either is doesn't flash at all ( status 6 error ) or when it does ( the signed version can be flashed in CWM ) no signal whatsoever. I've tried everything, changing the band, ( *#*#4636#*#* ) rebooting 45 times, dalvik wipe, changing type of radio, all guides, searched google, this website ( for a whole week ).
Nothing came up.
I'm posting, because this is pretty much last resort. I actually tried the KF1 radio on Miui, devnull, oxygen, and NScollab.
Telus users out there, what is your baseband ? What radio gives you the best signal and performance ? I know koodo switched to KF1, but I can't get it to work on my NS.
Any help is appreciated !
still noone ?
Darn.

I use KB3 for koodo(telus). I get signal... and it works.
I'm curious as to whether KF1 would be a better radio for us, or if it even works for Telus/Koodo. Anybody know?

I have a Telus Nexus S in BC and I just installed an OTA update to 2.3.6 / GRK39F / I9020AUCKF1 and the KF1 radio seems to be working fine. I've been able to call around and MMS without issues so far. (about 2 hrs) Not enough time spent with it to tell you if it gets better reception or not...
I acutally installed the OTA pacakage in order to go back to stock as I was getting sick of the Search Bug that has been plaguing my phone for ages and I was going to bring it back for warranty work, but it appears the flash of the radio to KF1 that was included in the package has resolved the Search Bug!
Sweet! So, I might stick with this for a bit to confirm it is gone and and if all is well, I guess there's no need to return the phone for service!
I have the same issue on koodo. Flashed ICS and I get reception with KF1 downtown but barely anything at home and it used to be great.
I'm running the UCKF1 radio on my telus NS, on cm9 + matrix 14.5. With my phone, it was impossible to flash the radio with CWM, it would flash, but could not get on the network. I had to use fastboot to flash the radio.
In my experience, XXKB3 and XXKD1 were definitely the fastest radios (no upload cap), but my connection was unstable, needing occasional reboots to reestablish connection if I ever lost reception. UCKF1 has been rock solid for me. (I'm in the Toronto area)
Also, for some reason I only started getting the search bug with ICS and XXKD1, but UCKF1 fixed that.

[Q] Radio on Superlite 5.1

Hey Folks,
Quick question about the radio functioning in MHX Superlite 5.1.
I'm a rogers user, and while the included radio (ucalc4) provides excellent sound quality and speed.. it seems that periodically the radio locks up and stops sending/receiving until a reboot.
I tried searching through the thread and didn't find where this was addressed?
Can someone point me in the right direction?
And yes the baseband shows unknown after flash.
Thanks !
Hey I'm a rogers user too and I found the way for the baseband to stick is to go into general and download the ics radio then bootinto cwm and do dark side wipe. While still in recovery flash radio after that data/factory reset cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe then install your rom (super lite) then wait 30 seconds after flash hen fix permissions and reboot! Worked for me may seem excessive but you will get a super clean flash

Awesome.
I recently reverted to GB to get my radio back. But while I was reading today realised that Instagram doesn't work on ICS.. Now I am hesitant to re-flash to ICS until this is fixed. I like my instagram...
Thanks for the reply
forget it.. I don't care about instagram.. Can you link me to the modem you used?

ICS frustrations - rant

I have come to the conclusion that something is wrong with my phone. I have tried to install ICS....a lot. I am not exagerating when I say that I have tried every Odin install, and every ICS ROM that has more than a few positive results. Nothing will work. I am not new to flashing, I have had a Captivate, Inspire, Tab and have had no issues with those, even created a few themes and build.prop tweaks. I know what I am doing and I follow the OP instructions perfectly. The damn thing just wont take. I get the white Samsung screen, a black screen, a vibration, and a reboot. So at this point I think I am just going to stick with GB for right now and hope that either the offcial ICS update works (when available) or maybe 5.0 later this year.
Two weeks of try to make this work has run me ragged. Outside of the ICS issues though this is by far the best device I have had in terms of performance and reliablility.
Rant over.
Did u flash the uclc5 radio at any point in time?
If not what radio did u install, and did u install it before u flashed ics rom?
What recovery were u using?
Did u odin back stock in between each ics attempt? Did u use dark side wipe at all?
*#* Google dropbox, its useful.

I have not tried the uclc5 radio. I saw a bunch of posts about it being for the Note, however the ROMs I was looking at all used ucld2 and ucla4 radios, so that is what I have been trying. Even the ROMs with the radio included as part of the install didn't work. And yes, I installed the radios (when applicable) before attempting the ROM install.
Recovery is the same, most ROMs suggested a particular recovery and I attempted using the suggestion in each OP, then attempted with the newest recovery when they didn't work, so I bascially did each ROM I tried twice. I did flash back to stock before each attempt.
I do have the dark side wipe and ran it before every attempt, then followed the OP instructions to perform the normal wipe\format and dalvik wipes when directed.
What kills me is that I get the same bootloop when trying an Odin ICS. The only version of that I have not tried is the version that was extracted from the oneclick.
I even had problems getting a GB ROM to install. I did manage to get superlite 3.1 installed after several attempts. You better believe I have nandroid backups of this working install....in several places.
My other concern is that even when the official update gets pushed out that I won't be able to install that either.
I appreciate your suggestion to use uclc5 radio. If I try to install that I suppose I need to try and flash a ROM that does not come with a radio as part of the package?

Personally, I haven't had anything but trouble with superdarkside. Its an excellent tool, but for me, hasn't meshed well with ICS. You should try following seans op for Sky ICS UCLC4, without using darkside at all to change from where your at now.
Also, the modem (aside from UCLC5 for some) has no effect on the installs, I sat on Sky ICS UCLC4 with the UCLC3 modem for a couple weeks without any issues at all.
I have tried all of the CWM mods posted here, and to be honest, my favorite is the CWM touch when installed from rommanager. Seans roms seem to take better with it more than the rest. The CWM touch that is posted on the sky UCLC4 OP is good, but it has a couple minor bugs.
Are you using SuperSU or superuser? Supersu has backfired on numerous occasions for me, I always stick to superuser (and I'm sure I'll be flamed for the comment. Every skyrocket reacts differently, remember)

I will give it a shot. I would really like to get back to ICS, I got so used to it on my other phones.
I have been using superuser, haven't had a problem yet from that.

I know this may be silly but have you tried to re-download the one click leak your using? Maybe you have a bad download or a corrupt file. And, or try to use a different usb port when you flash. It seems you've tried everything and maybe you have a defective device. I started having a lot of issues recently after going from ROM to ROM so I just flashed the one-click to get back to a clean state and then carefully chose which ROM I wanted to use and carefully install it. I've always used Darkside Superwipe but since I've quit using it, things have been much smoother. What I do now is what most Devs are saying now is to wipe/factory reset multiple times and format/system multiple times. If thats not working maybe go all the way back to stock GB with k0nanes stock tar and go from there. As far as the uclc5 radio, be careful!! I'm sure you've read that it can corrupt a partition and cause issues. I did flash it once and it did work for 48 hours but I noticed signal loss so I flashed back to uclc2. Maybe I got lucky it didn't mess me up, who knows? And if you have an issue not receiving an official update, IF you do go back to the stock GB tar, do a nandroid and flash that when it comes out. Just make sure you flash the stock recovery before you take it. I have a stock GB backup on my SD, so IF and WHEN it does come out, I'll just flash the backup, flash stock recovery and take the OTA. With your constant bootloops, it seems to me its a bad download or a defective device. It seems you've tried everything. Good luck...
^^^ this makes sense. Also I was asking about the note radio to advise u against it, or u may end up screwing up ur phone even worse, and have to make a visit to my corrupt efs fix thread lol.

I will try to get a different download, but I do not think that is it. The only reason I say that is because my phone had the exact same response for EVERY ROM I have download. They can't all be bad files. I have tried on two different PCs with three different USB cables. Good thought though, I have had bad downloads before. I am going to keep trying as the ROMs are updated and hope that I figure out what is going on, and hope that I can get the official update at some point. Then I will just root it and get rid of the bloat myself if I have to
I am going to stay away from the L5 radio, not worth the hassle.
On a side note, if installing a rom from the site, remember, most will work with the "base"
But need to reset/full boot before "updating".. dont just flash rom and flash update then reboot
I had a hard time with ICS as well with different problems, all I can say is it disproves the definition of insanity. Trying the same things over and over again will eventually make it work!
Hang in there, it's worth it. Whenever you do get the ODIN one click to work I highly recommend flashing Raider03's SMOOTHIE ROM. Awesome battery life and extremely "SMOOTH"! But be prepared for a few FCs and bugs with all of the ICS ROMS for now!

[Q] No cellular wireless signal after Cyanogenmod 9 - ICS on i897

Not getting a cell phone signal at all on my Captivate. very rarely I get it and it stays on until I reboot for some reason, or sometimes goes off on its own. No problem with wi-fi or anything else.
Have had Gingerbread 2.3.5 - KK4 (official) for a long time, and did not have this problem. Here is what I did:
Installed Cyanogenmod 9.0 (ICS 4.0.4) on my Captivate that had the stock Gingerbread KK4. Also installed the gapps-ics package from 29 April 2012
I did this after rooting, and installing clockworkmod.
Even updated it to Cyanogenmod 9.1, but have the same issues.
More detail on it:
- The cellular radio shows no signal, but Wifi is on fine.
- When I press the power button, I see the power off and reboot options, including one that says "Airplane Mode is ON", although it clearly isn't since Wifi is working
- A couple of times, I rebooted into recovery, and did a "repair permissions" and rebooted, and it got a signal, but does not happen always
- Once the signal is on, it stays on for the whole day, but goes off again after a reboot
- Turning Airplane mode on and off does not help
Is this a modem issue, that seems to be a popular problem. It's almost as if there is a software bug that fools the phone into switching off wireless radio
Please help me fix it, or share successful fixes
I had same problem when I went to helly bean then back to remics-jb I flashed back to stock then back up to what I wanted it fixed the problem so I think its the modem.

KOROCK is right
So were you able to fix? I had a similar problem as well; I made the mistake of putting cm9.1 on and it bricked because I followed the instructions that popped up when I thought I had flashed it correctly. I tried everything; this is my daily driver so I had no choice but to find a fix, and find it fast as my clients were unable to get a hold of me for a few hours.... Anyways, got a little off track; but did you fix?

A little search/reading goes a long way.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
KK4 is what you'll want to go back to stock but I highly suggest you read this before you do anything http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350266
Also, before returning to stock, you could try flashing a different modem.
Check to see if your baseband is still there. If it said "Unknown", you need to restore it. CM9 is supposed to have the modem.bin file included though. Check to see if the /radio folder have modem.bin in it, if it does, and the baseband still say Uknown, then manually delete the modem.bin, do a wipe and reflash a CM rom that have modem.bin included.
If Baseband is still there and still no signal, then check to see if IMEI is corrupted or lost (if its null or doesn't match the back of the phone). You can either copy over the efs backup folder if you have one and "fix permission" in CWM. If not, then you need to ODIN the phone to stock to fix it.
