Hey all,
I came from the Lumia (yeah, what a nightmare that was) to the HTC One X. It was definitely great to come back to Android. But, I've had the phone for 2 days now and already noticed two problems.
When I was at work yesterday, I noticed the 4g icon at the top looked like it was only sending data, but would never receive it. After about 30-45 seconds it would come back, but during that time, I couldn't do anything on the phone that required the use of data. I tried a factory reset, and it seemed to work just fine. Then on the way home from work, it did the same thing again.
Also, when my wife and I were watching TV last night I got a phone call and could barely hear the phone ring. I checked the volume and it's all the way up on all three sliders in the settings. I tried changing ringtones, and that didn't help.
So, I'm on my 5th phone now with AT&T since April 21st. 4 Lumia's and now this One X and they've all had issues. I'm really at my boiling point now.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I know one of my options is just to take the phone back to the store and swap it for a replacement, but I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing these two issues with their One X? I've Googled it, and there are quite a few threads about each issue, but here on XDA I don't see too many. I trust this forum more than any other.
I really wanted to love this phone too!

Not sure on data, but try volume+ in the play store...it's the go to app for volume issues.

I also noticed this low volume problem! I hate it when I'm trying to listen to music!!

The radio drops are a known problem for some, but have gotten much better with later radios. For volume, yeah check volume+

I had that exact problem with internet connection too but 1.85 fixed it.
The sound issue is weird though.

What's odd is that all day yesterday it seemed fine. It seems time was just the key here. We'll see how this goes.
You can make your own ringtone with any MP3 and any software for sound editing (like SounForge). You can cut some part of the song and make it louder (I advice you to make a preset for equalizer with 120-140% louder and no 60Hz frequency)
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.
I have been having the same issues with the volume with my one x. I emailed HTC about the problem then it auto corrected itself. It all started after this at&t 1.85 update. I haven't factory reset yet, which is what HTC recommended, I hope that enough people complain so HTC actually does something about it. I love the phone though.

But I agree, on my Evo lte speaker not as loud as my OG Evo. That said, my OG Evo went thru 3 blown speakers in 2yrs.
Enjoy the phone you have, not the one you invented.

Yeah 4 phones is a lot...
Most of the its user error, then they ask for exchanges.
I dropped my phone last night. Hardly a fall. But then when I looked at it, these black lines appeared on my screen. There are like 20 eyebrow length black lines.
Can anyone tell me what I can do.

The Best option:
If its in warranty period, replace the device.
I agree , it is best to send in for replacement or repair. I wish you the best! Hopefully they will replace it without a problem. Good luck!

I had issues recently and reverted back to stock and S-ON before sending it back for a replacement, just in case.
If it's not stock and they're arsey they might refuse.

Absolutely revert back to stock!! If they see It's rooted they will love to deny your repair! Their are some really great guides to help you go back to stock.please follow them to the letter because the last thing you need right now is a brick! I would first read though the guide, then have it in front of me to follow to the letter! Then you should be just fine to return your device! I've read where people bricked going back to stock bricked because they did the order of things wrong or jumped Ahead so make sure to follow the guide exactly! Once you get back to stock they will accept your device without problem. Perhaps tell them the lines just happened I'm not sure if a drop is covered. Just to be safe . I know they love to deny repair . Then you should be good to go.! Keep us posted on how the process went for you ok? Best of luck, sorry this happened to you!

Hope I'm not too late on this.
My Sensation suffered the same thing about 4 weeks ago.
The lines correct themselves somehow while the screen is off/phone is charging.
Over the last 4 weeks, the lines on my screen have become much less visible, as well as much less in number.
Of-course, the best thing to do is to get it replaced, but if that's no longer an option, you could try what I did.
I left the phone on the charger for as long as possible, and used it as little as possible. It's really as easy as that.
I'd recommend shutting off your phone and leaving it for a week though. I couldn't do that cause I didn't have a replacement phone for the time, and I could only keep this up for about 3 days. Still, number of lines was less than half of what it was (and much less black than before). I'd imagine that a week of being switched off will fix it up (more-or-less) completely.
By the way, don't look-up dead pixel correction methods. They only made it worse for me.
Hope that helps.

Had the same problem earlier, when i dropped the phone accidentally.
Observation: It gets darker and grows when the phone heats up, and lighter (almost cyan blue) when the phone cools down for a significant period of time, with the screen off.
i had to keep the phone near an air conditioner vent for a few hours with the phone turned off for it to disappear .
once the lines disappear completely they dont return back, unless if you drop them again (which is what i did a few days back again.. and the stupid lines are back )
If you have any other ways in which you can get it resolved pls share with us.
PS: dont know how keeping it on charging solved it for you, because with my phone charging heats it up and the lines become darker.
Cheers,
Alan
Both method working, but I don't know yet how long. I tried to cool my phone down in a simple refrigerator (without SIM, microSD, battery) in a plastic box. I had two whole horizontal black lines, and know I got only 2 tiny after 6 hours cooling. Perhaps it will be permanent

Oftentimes, with full service, I will simply get a voicemail. The phone will not ring, and the caller will tell me that it went straight to voicemail on their end. This is with the phone completely idle. What is going on?

My girlfriends one s did the exact same thing, she had to get it exchanged for another. The replacement works fine. I realize they're different phones but it's very similar to ours.

Can't root. Fully updated software.
I honestly think it's a hardware defect. You could try running the ruu on the phone to reset it to factory. If the problem persists you'll have to complain to your carrier about it and hope they get it replaced. Could also mention the battery dies in an hour to help persuade them...

I cant believe I went through 6 devices.
The first 4 had the same problem. Old text messages would send themselves to the last 2 people I texted, at random. 4 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning. I was annoying my friends all the time. 5th device came with damage (stuck power button would turn the phone off by itself)
Last device, the one im using now is stuck in landscape for no apparent reason. Dock mode is on and I cant turn it off. Something is making my phone think its on. Called AT&T, complained, told them about how many devices ive been through. Initially got denied, asked to speak to a manager. Got denied again, they offered a year-early upgrade for no charge, but I denied that. After about 30 minutes of back and forth, they decied to send me a blue GS3 that should be here this week
The phone has been good to me when it worked, but Im tired of getting replacements.
Lol, I bet you have problems with the gs3 too.

Aside from the stuck power button (which is just a hardware problem)... maybe it's a bugged program (or virus attachment) that you keep installing on your new devices? What happens if you DON'T install your usual programs on your latest device? Try it out for a week, and then you can start to pinpoint the rogue application. Don't use your phone to connect to any email either, and then you can narrow down if it's an application or data problem.

Exactly. The problem the first four "phones" had was almost undoubtedly NOT a hardware problem, and I'm amazed and dismayed that you got them to replace your phone (dismayed because that cost gets passed on to everyone else, AND the more people do this the less likely people with legitimate problems are going to get their problems addressed... boy cries wolf syndrome, if you will)
When my GS II was randomly shutting down they made me try a phone with NO apps installed other than what came pre-installed, for a week to eliminate app issues. And because I was desperate, I did.
I have had the text issue when texting people on T-Mobile. Only certain people on T-Mobile. Theirs would come to me several times, or mine would go to them duplicated or delayed and they would get like 5 at once. Never did figure out the cause, it just stopped on its own. This was a few years ago, though. In this case I would expect some app on your phone. The XDA does this thing that if I post an image on the forum, like an hour later I get a toast that my reply was successful, and find it duplicated my post.

I'm currently on my 4th One X replacement device. The first three replacements and the original had screen flex issues along the side, and in the middle. One of the replacements had a faulty power button. They offered a make/model change for free, and that meant instead of continually sending the White One X, they sent the Grey. It was either that, or DOWNGRADE to a cheaper phone.
Needless to say... The 4th one still has these issues. But I'm tired of dealing with AT&T because it really hasn't been resolved. I could keep complaining, and eventually if it gets worse I will.

or, if you only want to hit one place, google the nearest att Device Support Center. if it isn't too far of a drive, i can't imagine they'll ever turn anyone away. their primary function is to fix or replace your phone (if it's within the 1 yr mfr warranty). no receipt needed... they'll bring up your account. (don't give them a device that's been visibly tampered -- revert back to stock, etc)

You can't exchange for a new phone in-store beyond the first 30 days. After that, you go through warranty and its all refurbs. As previously mentioned, you can go to that a Device Support Center, but they will still be refurbs, but at least you can test them out before leaving the place.
Multiple defective refurbs are common, and even the same issue. But the 4 in a row with the exact same text issue is odd, if not suspicious. Are you migrating any backed up data like SMS? Might even be a network related problem.
Ironic user name is ironic.
I have never had issues with this phone.. something is up..
My Skyrocket started from having a small blue airbursh type dot on the screen and it moved to the whole phone throughout the day, After a while the screen got really dark blue, but was still functional until today, I think the problem came from charging my phone. But I am using the same charger, so I'm not 100% sure why it would suddenly stop working.
It started in the morning and progressively got worse throughout the day after charging it throughout the night, and then last night I charged it again and now the screen just doesn't display anything. I can still use muscle memory to unlock my phone with the pattern, and it will still receive notifications.
Does anyone have any ideas? The only difference between how it was charged yesterday and today is that I'm in South Carolina instead of Kentucky.
Go back to Kentucky! Jk. It could be a hardware issue but I'd rule that out by trying a different rom. You didnt say what rom you're currently on.

I am running CM10.0, the stable version of it. I haven't upgraded because I didn't really find it necessary as I was happy with the way it was. It's a really weird problem though.
It seems to be because of the charger, but I'm still not 100%. Should I just try to recover to the original GB rom through Odin?
Here is a picture of the phone when it was blue. Hopefully it uploaded perfect.
Sorry about the black, wanted to make sure none of my friends got mad at me for showing their picture and/or texts on the interwebs. Just in case thing.

I'd try a different rom to see if out I'd rom related. But I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue. Odin'ing back to gb or a newer os, should tell you if it's hardware or software related.

Okay, it appears to be a hardware problem. Flashed the stock GB tar from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398 and have absolutely no luck. Odin worked successfully and the phone still seems to be having the same problem.
Has anyone ever heard of or seen this problem before? It's pretty random. I think I have the phone under insurance, where as I will just tell them I lost my phone.. Otherwise looks like I'll be without a phone for a while unless I go out and buy an unlocked one, as I wanted to switch carriers next year when my contract was up!
If youre still under the one year warranty, AT&T should be able to give you a refurbished one. This is the first blue screen issue I've seen or heard of.

It wasn't under warranty, as I've had it for a year and a week almost exactly.. And they want a whopping $200 for it through insurance. I'm not doing that. I'm tired of the Skyrocket and I'm not going to pay $200 to get it through insurance. It isn't on warranty, but it was under insurance. I can tell you this is the last time I insure a phone.
I'm going to be buying a Nexus 4 and re-use my SIM, and if it doesn't work I will just ask AT&T for another SIM card and deactivate my old one.
So, it is pretty much 100% where the phone isn't going to work anymore, and I'm not really sure if a screen replacement will work. So yeah, looks like I am going to go with the Nexus 4 and be happy with it.
I do have a question kind of unrelated, and I'd be happy if someone can point me in the right direction and give me an answer here so I don't have to gunk up the forums with another topic.
Is there anyway to grab my phone's data virtually or through the recovery file? Fortunately I was smart enough to make a backup to my sdcard right when it started turning blue. Is there some way I can get my pictures and some important notes from my phone?
