If it is grayed out then your not gonna be able to do anything..... the developer of the rom you are using had greyed it out because its not working probably.... my best suggestion (though I am not a sensation user) is to see if there is another rom available with this feature working if it is important to you

The facial recognition is overrated in my opinion anyways. the concept is cool, however most of the time it can't recognize you based on lighting, so you wait for a while then end up enter a pin code anyways.
Are you using something that requires credential storage, ie VPN, 802.1x? That would force you to enable stricter security (no facelock)
I'm on stock, no VPN settings.

may not work
it unlocks sometimes when my brother uses his face but i use ordroid so that is one way to get it
This means your ROM doesn't have that feature yet, and so I suggest changing ROM, I am currently running Virtuous Inquisition, and couldn't be more happy with it.

Some applications disable the face-unlock feature. For instance, if you area connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server and the administrator has turned on security settings it automatically locks out face recognition and screen patterns.
Settings -> Security -> Device Administrators
That will tell you if there are any other device admins / policies attached to your phone

Hi i just notice that on my. Mytouch 4g when u go to settings then wireless network then turn wifi on and u go to the other setting to select which network u want. When u get there click on ur menu button then hit advance then make sure wifi performance is checked on. The phone stock does not havr it checked on. Thought this would help if u use wifi. I just noticed it right now lol

Does anyone know exactly what this does after enabling?
It probably enables "mimo" or "afterburner". Serious, look them up.
If you don't need it, then you may be able to conserve power.
yeah i just noticed this yesterday when i was on wifi at my house. but it will give u the best performance using wifi. but i saw some videos going against the iphone 4 and evo 4g and they always use wifi so i left a comment letting them know to make sure that is turned on so it would be a fair match up even though the mytouch 4g beat the iphone 4 and evo at pretty much everything lol.
True mimo? No way? Do we have true aggressive AP bonding aswell?

I don't know if that's what it is. Mimo is all I can think of that it might enable.
Like in a school or corporate setting with multiple ap for the same network... laptops will seamlessly transition to the strongest ap... I know my g1 did not, never tried with n1 or this mt4g

I'm seriously thinking of pre-ordering the sensation. but is there that much of performance difference between the nexus s & the sensation that i can notice in real life?
I'm talking performance only (not build quality- not screen res... only performance)
Is it worth selling the nexus s for the hrc sensation?

What is WiFi calling? Is it a T-Mobile specific thing?
It certainly has the ability to use SIP, I have it set up and have made/received a few calls with it.

yes t-mobile app that you can use to call over wifi when you have no cell phone service at your location
WiFi calling is when you don't have a strong signal or live in the boons or in your basement that has no signal. You can connect to your wifi to make and recieve calls.

Sounds like a cool feature...I wouldn't mind it, but I use a Vodafone Suresignal at home...never needed one before I got a HTC. Reception isn't stellar at home on Vodafone, but it's only been a problem on my HTC Nexus, Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD, and now the Sensation...all HTC's have a common trait, the cell antenna is in the lower end of the phone. Holding the phone like a phone covers the antenna and lowers reception.
I couldn't get a Galaxy S to drop the network at all in my home...but then it's made of plastic, perhaps the same reason the Xperia X10 and Arc also work fine in my house
I can't win!
I would wait and see some reviews and comparisons. I have the HTC Sensation and to put it simply it's very fast with its dual core 1.2 processor.

I know HTC Sensation has potential but I dont know if its worth the upgrade
What I want to know is if it will have the choice to be able to tether? Does anyone know if the senation is capable of doing so?
IMHO, the beautiful qHD screen would be worth the upgrade alone.

ok very good thats all i wanted to know, just wanted to make sure that it was given the option to tether off of the phone!
If you are asking about the US version then I am not sure if it will have tethering option. I just hope Tmous will not take the advantage of locked bootloaders to disable tethering and fill up the device with bloatware.

Does anyone know if this works and I am just not seeing the video icons in my friends list, or if this is prohibited with the Gtalk pre-installed on the sensation.
IF the latter is there an open APK that will allow this from another forum perhaps?

only bad thing about VTOK is when I had it installed it never shut off & drained by battery quickly. Even with the screen off, it was always using the CPU & keeping wifi on. Signing out of your google account didn't shut it down either
I've emailed the developer but still haven't heard back after a week.
On my galaxy tab I am running the Overcome 2.0.1 ROM which is a Gingerbread 2.3.3. The version of Google talk pre-installed with it does video chat. Perhaps there it a way to extract the APK from the galaxy Tab and use it with our 2.3.3 phones?
I could be completely wrong on this, but...
I believe that the Talk app is installed into the system folder and therefore we'd have to push the replacement file into the system folder, which we can't do right now?

Hi guys,
What version of Talk actually works on the Sensation then? I have insertcoin 3.3.9 which gives me android 2.3.5 with 3.5 sense but i cannot for the life of me work out how to get the video icons on my contacts. I have tried everything and still nothing as even tapping on my avatar does not give me an option to enable / disable video.
Anyone know what i need to do?
So far it's been working for me with most of the versions of InsertCoin. Just make sure that the contacts on the side has enabled their option to receive video calls.

Sent from my Sensation using XDA
I just deleted 6 about a week ago. I would be amazed if google, what with previously being fairly public about wanting manufacturers to leave their roms unlocked, would impose a limit per year unless they made a way for those new roms to be detected as the same device...
IMEI? or is there some range of privacy concerns or technical issues related to this?
I heard this news yesterday and tried it out myself, I was able to deactivate 6 devices no problem, so either they switched it back or they haven't changed my account's limit yet, but try to deactivate them now, there's no downside. Either they haven't changed your account yet, or they have and you are using up your four now, as opposed to when you need to.

so for the moment - http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2621412&topic=1663424&ctx=topic
hopefully either they will abandon this strategy (and not make it go the way of google movies) or they'll come up with a very clever way of getting around it.
I personally re-downloaded my entire collection and am back to storing them on my microSD card - less data to use, and no more worrying about activating/deactivating too many devices.

WiFi Calling doesn't exist on any of the custom ROMs unless it's based off of a T-Mobile ROM. Did they change the way WiFi Calling works?
What does it take port it over?
All I'm looking for is a Vanilla ICS ROM (AOSP, CM9, something like that) with WiFi Calling.

You need to enable it in the settings:
Settings > More > WiFi Calling
It allows you to substitute your actual cell signal for WiFi. For instance, if you're in a dead zone, and you can't get any service, turn on WiFi Calling and you'll be able to make calls and receive texts!
It's an absolute necessity for me.
I used the sim card that came with the phone, and whenever I try using wifi calling, it says that my sim is not compatible and to contact tmobile to get a proper compatible sim.
Have you tried calling T-Mobile about it?

Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Nah, I'm too lazy. On my Sensation, the feature wasn't so great. People couldn't understand what I was saying, so I figured it must still suck on this phone.
Every report of wifi calling, even in stock, said it sucked. It's built into the framework of TMOUS ROMs and there's little incentive to try and port it into others. Try Skype.

The feature is great on this device (according to my experience with it). I'm able to learn to understand whatever you have to teach me / I can help you with if you're willing to help port it.

It's not a "port". You can't just take the sense framework and tweak some configuration file or platform variable and have it work. Wifi calling is part of Sense now... No Sense, no Wifi calling, just like the Sense clock or any other widget.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Someone on the Trickdroid thread had the idea of taking the Sense framework and incorporating it into an .apk. Is that possible?
Why not just run a de-sensed Trickdroid with Nova or Apex launcher? Mostly the same experience as AOSP if you don't notice the performance hit.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I could do the same thing with Axiom S-Less (which has WiFi calling built in and is updated) but I want the full AOSP experience.
It might be mental, but I've always had a smoother experience with full AOSP versus de-Sensed ROMs. I'm speaking from experience with my T-Mo G2 days.
So if I use WiFi calling will it still use my mins?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Yes it will. It's good for situations where you have no cell reception.
