[SOLVED] [Q] Any way to reboot frozen phone without battery pull? - HTC Desire S

Hey XDA,
After i updated my rom to BlindICE 7.0 from 6.0 (No factory reset) the phone kept coming up with the boot animation after i unlock my SD card. The boot animation would disappear though, but almost as if it had done a hot restart. I would then have to unlock the SD card again, and the same thing would happened. This happened a couple of times, and i disconnected it from my computer (I had the phone connected from earlier where i send the rom) and suddenly, the phone froze. Now i cant get in any contact with the phone. ADB earlier said the device was offline, but after i disconnected the phone from the PC, and connected it again, the device wont show up at all
So my question is, are there any way to restart the phone without pulling the battery? As i said earlier, ADB is not working. I could let all the power run out, but i would really love if there was a faster way

95-100%, so draining the battery would take some time, and i'm not sure if theres any difference between that and pulling the battery

Try holding then longer
If you can't wait and have no other option then I would suggest the below
1. Connect phone to USB
2. Remove battery
3. Phone will still be running
4. Shutdown PC to cut the USB power
This is the safest way I know if three button reset is not working
PS: I an not responsible for damages to your phone, and I have follows the process a couple of times.

Do not worry.
If the phone is completely switched off, hold the Volume down button (do not let go) then press and hold the power button, then let go the power button (still holding the volume down).
The phone should boot to bootloader. Chose Recovery from there.
When in the recovery wipe cache and reboot.
(If on Stock there can be a picture of a phone with a red trianle - in that case press volume up and power - this will get you in the recovery)

For me the following is a must to avoid this problem:
always keep the USB Debbuging" ON in Settings
always disable "fastboot" option in Settings to prevent "hibernation" mode, i.e. running processes
keep your /cache clean (always wipe before installing anything)
stick to ext4 file system
if the device hangs anyway never pull out the battery, better wait it to be completely drained

No the battery was about 90% and my charger works with my hd2 ^^
Don't boot, no charging light and just a sound when I put the usb cable to computer with a driver installation fail : QHSUSB_dload, and this too in device manager on windows !
Try volume down + power button for ten seconds or so, then release the volume button and press it again shortly but keep the power button down. This always works for me!

First of all thank you very much for helping me in this problem, the phone does not turn on when I press power and also when I press power and volume down and the LED does not turn on when I put it to charge. What you charge the battery overnight and also now not even turn on. What if I've noticed is that despite not firing when I connect the phone via USB to the computer the computer detects the phone and asks me to install drivers for QHSUSB_DLOAD. Before that I had damaged the ROM installed Nocturnal special edition / audio edition of KANLESS. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks
You must of flashed a diff Rom that's not for our phone let's mot try to put any blame on magical and his good Rom

If your phone won't charge, and in Qualcomm download mode, you are pretty much screwed.

I'm guessing you flashed something before Nocturnal and then went to Nocturnal after it messed up your phone. Your phone is bricked (QHSUSB tell us that), but Nocturnal wouldn't have done that.

Yeah, from what I understand, Qualcomm download mode means that hboot has been overwritten or otherwise damaged. Usually that is a result of flashing a ROM or recovery meant for another device. Flashing the "correct" ROMs does not touch hboot.
Did you flash any other ROMs, and what recovery were you using?
just plug the phone into the wall for a few hours then PM me. Its not any rom, no rom or recovery will do this to a phone. I'm sure its something very simple.
"QHSUSB_DLOAD" is basically a "panic mode" that the CPU goes into when it can't find a bootloader. So somehow or another you corrupted it.
There is a way to fix this using Linux, but I believe the phone has to have a charge.
Just search the S-Off thread, I remember someone mentioning how to do it there.

S3 wont budge after root

I am not the owner of this phone.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S3 that was rooted using a "teamviewer" like program by a customer and an outside source. After root was "successful" the rom was flashed and the phone rebooted and shut down (as customer recalls it). This phone is running 4.08 on a wall charger through a volt meter and the battery is reading the same if not a bit less. The vibrate during start up does not occur and the lights for charging are not lit up. Any help towards getting this figured out please let me know. Appreciate the help in advance
Well when you pull the battery and put it back and then try to hold volume up, home and power dies it do anything?
Also, when plugged into pc does it ask for any drivers? I'm betting your customer installed an international version ROM and it's hard bricked.

I had already done what you mentioned and the forums were my last resort haha. It does ask for drivers but I had to find the download for them and am currently trying to run the phone through adb devices but it is seeming like it wont pick it up.

Just to be clear, you are trying to get it to download/recovery mode from the phone being powered off right? It won't get there when its powered on and stuck at "Galaxy S III" screen. Pull the battery and hold down the button combinations until you see "Samsung" with small blue text in the upper left hand corner and as soon as the screen goes black, release the buttons.
It almost sounds like they installed a rom that needed the bootloader workaround.. in which case I'd be stumped at what's needed then, jtag...?

Specifically, what rom was it? Sounds to me that a I9300 rom was flashed. If that's the case, the phone is hard bricked. You need a JTAG to fix it.

How To solve BootLoop

hi people,
i am a new member of this forum so i can't yet post in "development area".
lt
i hope i can have the answer of my question in general area.
yesterday i update the last CM11 nyghtly and then i flash franco kernel. the result?? a BRUTAL bootloop.. nexus 5 was blocked on google logo.
in the cm11 thread lot's of other users have the same problem.. (only with last cm11 nightly)
i was unable to shutdown nexus 5 and i was unable to do everything..no recovery,no nothing!!! so the solution (for me) was to wait until the battery was totaly discharged. then i charge battery a little bit and then i went into recovery mode and fix everything flashing an old cm11 nyghtly.
the question is: the only solution in this case is this? when i am in a brutal bootloop, that doesn't allow me to do anything, i can only wait for total battery discarge?? is there any other method to enter in recovery or to shot down nexus?
p.s. i think that when the display shows google logo adb is not usable. but i am not so sure about that.
pps sorry if my english is not so perfect..:cyclops:

Hold Power + Volume down during several seconds to reboot into the bootloader then you can flash Factory Images or enter into the recovery mode.
power+voldown wasn't working too.. nexus was completly locked. i was unable to do anything. no recovery, no shutdown..the only solution was to attend the discharging of battery

You have to wait around 10s. Is it what you did?
Well I don't mean to mock you here but it is very unlikely that the power button holding doesn't work.
I mean it's baked in even before the bootloader so if that isn't working then you have something seriously wrong with your phone!
