unroot tab 2 7inch - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am getting ready to sell my tab 2 7inch and wanted to know how to unroot the device?

download this to extsdcard (610MB) and flash it with CWM.

Excellent.
I'm wanting to root mine, due to an issue with TouchWiz I keep running into. Now that I know how to un-do it, I'll probably go ahead sooner than later.

Anyone tried this?did it worked?

how can i move back to the stock recovery without flashing the stock rom?

Just to clarify, you tried to root your n8013 but used odin to flash the files for n8000? Does your device work currently? I am sorry just trying to figure out what exactly is going on.

Yes, I tired to root my n8013, somehow I oversight files which is for n8000. My device is work well expect it running like 3G. I am trying to get it back to run like N8013.
Hope this is helping?
I have the same problem! I cannot update via OTA because CWM recovery keeps popping up and interrupting it (even though I flashed UEALGB stock recovery using Odin
Well if you can't get it to completely get rid of CWM then i would try and odin complely back to stock, you can get the firmware from samsung-updates.com i actually had to do this as well. The file is around a GB but it should clear up any issues that you are having. PM me if you need more specifics.

[Q] Stock GT-N8013 Samsung ROM

Does anyone know where or even if there are just plain vanilla stock unrooted Samsung ROMS for the Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8013 (US variant)?? I rooted and flashed a custom ROM to my tablet and after awhile, I decided I wanted to go back to complete stock. I have seen threads with the original stock kernel and recovery, but I sort of wanted a full, 1gig+ stock unrooted ROM offered by Samsung.. I have seen stock ROMs for other series of this tablet, but I have been unable to find any for the N8013. Any help would be great! Thanks!
Sammobile.com has it, but ics only.

Go to www.samfirmware.com and select the firmware tab. Once you enter your tab details, the available firmware is there to download.
Install with Odin and you'll have your stock tab back.
I did that recently having installed the UK JB firmware, but managed to get a binary count of 12 (increased by 2 per flash)
Now I am back to standard and waiting for the official OTA upgrade *yawn*
Good luck

Can't Get Firmware
Unfortunately, SamFirmWare.com won't let me download the firmware. It asks me to log in, and I do. Then when I go to the Firmware page, it forgets who I am, and tells me to log in again. It doesn't forget anywhere else, JUST on the firmware page.
I tried setting up another account, but they want my credit card info for that now, and I ain't giving that out!
I know that this is the name of the file you are looking for. Do a search for it and this will get you back to a stock ROM.
I know because I had to use it once to recover a quasi-brick issue on my tablet.

Not exactly what you're looking for but this one is all stock, latest firmware except it is deodexed and retains root. You can re-odex the ROM if you want. Been running it for a while now and it's been pretty damn good.

Here is the download link for N8013UEUCMI3_N8013XARCMI3_XAR.zip, it is the latest factory firmware for the GT-N8013 USA version http://terafile.co/03043e576832/N8013UEUCMI3_N8013XARCMI3_XAR.zip
When the page opens you will see a clock for wait time, click on "Regular" and then wait your 10 seconds, enter captcha code and download file.
If your coming from root clear firmware counts with Triangle Away first, then do your firmware flash then a factory reset after firmware install.

It's only needed to reset the flash count, if your not worried about the count and or out of warranty then you don't really need it.

As stated in post #14 above......
Install Triangle Away first then run the app to clear firmware counts.
Connect tablet to a PC via factory USB cable.
Boot tablet into Odin mode, start Odin app on PC and in PDA line direct the app to the N8013UEUCMI3_N8013XARCMI3_XAR.zip
file and press Start in Odin app.
After restart do a factory reset from tablet recover mode.
Done

[Q] What do I do to upgrade 4.1.1. (Ger) to 4.1.2. (Ger)? (I've forgotten!)

Hi all
Sorry to bother you. I upgraded my UK Note to the German JB 4.1.1. a few weeks ago and it's been flying since. I noticed today though, that SamMobile had the German 4.1.2. version available for download (N8010XXUCMA5 / N8010OXACMA5), so I'm now in the process of downloading it.
What I need to know is, is it simply a case of me doing what I did to upgrade to JB before? I used Odin if I remember right, and pointed it toward the ROM I wanted to flash with. Is that all that's needed?
Also, do I need to backup my present setup or won't it affect my present apps when I flash with 4.1.2.?
Many thanks guys

Odin flash --> User Data/Apps is not deleted --> reroot (if you want)
Backup is always a good idea
Backing up your current setup is always a good idea, but I had no issue when I flashed it.
Assuming that your not rooted, use Odin or use Exynos Abuse to root and then...
If you are rooted then get a copy of Mobile Odin and select everroot.
Thanks guys
I'm not rooted at the moment. Do I need to root? I haven't felt the need to do so until now, so I'm not really bothered about rooting...

No pressing need to root so if you don't want to, then just use Odin to flash it.
You do not need to root to flash using odin just go on the link on my signature to get the tutorial

Great.
One more question. I swapped from a UK ROM to the German JB one. Is it an easy procedure to go back to the official UK ROM if and when ver. 4.1.2. is available in the UK?
Cheers
Yes it should not be a problem the same procedure but make sure you take a back up
Thanks all
11 minutes and counting before the new ROM is d/loaded...
Just had a look at the rooting guide (thanks Samir) and the first option looks very easy (ExynosAbuse app). If I was to use this method would I lose any functionality of the Note at all? Also, if I have to send my Note back, would Samsung object to the note having been rooted?
Cheers
I dont think mobile odin will flash the hidden or bootloaders, odin or heimdall is a better option
the exynos abuse patch doesn't work on the MA (4.1.2) builds, if you want root use cfautoroot through odin on those.
Rooting will cause issues with samsungs warranty. If you need to return a device to samsung then you need to restore it to stock rom, with no root, they are using a binary counter though that you can get rid of by using triangleaway.
don't forget to use the search on the forum for these topics, there's been quite a bit about them
Well I've followed the instructions like last time, but it won't update - it keeps saying the process has 'FAILED'
Can anyone shed any light on why I can't update???
Confirm that Kies is not running

Hi guys
Thanks for the quick replies. I must admit to being a plonker of the highest order - I never put the tablet in d/l mode did I
It's doing its business now. Roll on 4.1.2. goodness!!!

TF300T root/recovery/update

Just bought a new TF300T that came with 4.1.
I need to do a few thngs:
1. Root.
2. Flash Recovery.
3. Install 4.2.
I have been reading the FAQ thread but there are so many different options.
Which is the safest method to root+recovery of them all? Should I update to stock 4.2 and then root+recovery or do it from 4.1?
this is what you need mate
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982
Make sure that you read the thread that Robgee linked you to very carefully. People are bricking their tablets right and left. Keep in mind that if you do decide to go ahead with the update to 4.2, you will not be able to overclock your tablet because Asus hasn't released the source for the kernel yet.
Whether you update or not, I recommend choosing CleanROM. There is a version for both the 4.1 and 4.2 bootloader. You can't go wrong with either one of them and the ROM support is excellent. :good:

Ok as it turns out the tab has factory 4.2.1 actually installed from the previous person.
So I would need root+recovery (will keep stock ROM for now) is that link above still relevant?

Actually it is. You can find the patched version of TWRP (recovery). If you decide to go ahead with recovery and root, make sure that you flash the patched version of TWRP. If you don't, TWRP won't be able to pick up your sd card while in recovery.
If you don't mind waiting, I'm sure they'll be another version of TWRP out pretty soon. We've just gotta give the Devs some time. :good:

I do not have a miniSD card just yet, if I place a full size SD card into the keyboard dock will that get detected for TWRP?
Also I found stock 4.2.1 very sluggish when used with multiple users, is anyone else finding the same?
I guess a ROM with no extras is what I need, someone mentioned CleanRom above, is that barebones 4.2.1?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 SMT530NU... which Twrp device name?

Okay was able to successfully root my Samsung Galaxy SMT530NU, I have TWRP downloaded but how do you find the correct device name for this device so I do not install the wrong file and brick my device?

As far as I know TAB 4 still don't have TWRP support , I'm also waitin for my T331
Is there any custom recovery available for this Tab? It seems support for the tablets are slow so far, maybe because it is new? Not even sure how long it has been out for.
I am learning Java coding now and intend to start contributing to the community at some point.
I'm glad I was able to get it rooted at least.
It's been out since early may, just not enough interest.
SM-T530NU Tab 4 10.1 Wifi model
I dont understand why there wouldnt be interest for these android tablets. They are some of the most powerful on the market. Honestly they should be hot **** right now. I think basically they are not in the right hands because they are still fairly new and expensive. With a proper recovery and some nice roms and overclock support it would be super beast. I just got my tab 4 10.1 model: SM-T530NU last night. Traded a laptop and my HP Touchpad 10 inch tablet for it. I got it rooted with towelroot no problem. Also went through and got rid of knox and samsung apps i didnt want. Im currently on 4.4.2 and saw there was an update but i'm going to wait on that. How would one go about building a proper TWRP and build at least a cyanogenmod rom for it? I have one and am willing to test or whatever to get something going. I would need someone with knowhow to teach me

I read somewhere that you can reroot if you replace the original boot.img i want to say it was. then you could root with towelroot, and then copy the new boot.img back on and root will stay. worth a try if you updated and still want root. you flash the file with odin. I could upload the boot.img from mine if we have the same one
Also, what version are you running now after updating? Is there a way to get this update to take a look at it? The SM-T530NU source from samsung is kitkat, not sure when it was uploaded, and im guessing it's the 4.4.2 i have now.
It appears the Source code from samsung is 4.4.1 which should be plenty to get a recovery working? How do we get more attention and someone with more knowhow to take a look at this? If we had a working recovery id at least try to port cyanogenmod to our device. i would test a real devs recovery but not trying myself with that
