[Q] Sidekick 4g glass broken

Hello all,
The glass cover on my sidekick got broken accidentally. The LCD works fine.
I'm planning to get a replacement front panel glass.
I found the following link on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tmobile-Sam...ultDomain_0&hash=item2c605f3c7e#ht_2045wt_905
Is this an original OEM part as described? After it's replaced will it work as good as the original?
Any other options other than the above ebay link?
Please help!
Regards,
sammydude
God only knows. It'll probably work though.
Sorry this is late, but the ribbin cable and glass seem to be just like the original. Let us know how it went.

How did you break it? I'm asking only because I know this is a pretty durable phone, I've already dropped it screen first on gravel, without a scratch to show of it.
This looks legit to me. Digitizer is the key word. I've replaced many of these on different phones. As long as it's a ditizer for the correct phone model number. Are you doing this yourself? There should be some good tutorials on disassembly on youtube.

@AFAinHD It was bizarre! My watch was on a chair. My wife threw my watch onto the bed saying "here it is. keep it ". The metal part of the watch fell on the mobile (the bevel part of the glass). You could imagine our shock after that!!

Not planning to do this myself. There's a good servicing person (freelancer) for all kinds of mobiles. Planning to give it to him.
Thank you all for your replies! Planning to go for it. Will let you all know how it went! Just hope I'm able to get it back to its original condition. Hmmm...

Display Glass Broken

Hi all.
The problem is that falling down the glass is broken... The touchscreen still works, but i would like to replace the glass..
Where can i buy it?
Thanks for help

I personally would take it to you mobile network provider. If you're a long time customer, they may repair it for free.
take @l3X's replay, if you are willing to do the whole replacing process yourself, but it shouldn't be to hard.
Otherwise bring it to a store i guess..
Something to note when purchasing a screen from directfix - it does not include the border adhesive that goes under the screen along the edge of the frame. You may also end up with bits of glass in the old adhesive.
What I did (the second time I replaced my screen) was to buy a couple of the iPod Touch adhesive kits from directfix as well, and cut the bits off that I need to make it stick.
Also, if you use paypal to purchase, try the coupon code PAYPAL10 at directfix. It should get you 10% off, which would cover the adhesive and probably the case opener tool as well (ESSENTIAL TO HAVE).
Is there any way to purchase digitizer Only ? All i see are Digitizer with LCD screen, which i dont need. And it cost like 1/2 of phone price -.-
Nah you need both man. Digitizer is fused to the glass. I got mine on eBay for $140

The problem there is how to get the one in the phone to let go of the digitizer to be able to replace it without breaking the digitizer.
Seriously though, why the heck is our digitizer and glass so expensive compared to the One X one?

This is true. There have been a few posts w people trying to seperate the digitizer from the glass and breaking it in the process. I think I saw one video where someone did it successfully with a heat gun, but from what I hear its real hit and miss. Thats why most of the youtube videos show replacing both.
If there are people who have tried and been successful it would be interesting to hear their stories. If I scratch my glass and have to replace, I will try to seperate the two and will let folks know... But I have been pretty lucky with my phone so far
Hi folks, can the screen and digitizer be replaced with out having to replace the Lcd screen? I have watched a few videos and the have all said the screen glass and digitizer are all fused together. If anyone has done this could the put up a quick guide or if they have a link to a video of the screen and digitizer being removed from the lcd screen that would be great.
I agree

I agree ^. I'm having this same problem.
I'm about to attempt this I've just broken my glass quite badly but the screen still works the touch screen so I'm gonna buy the glass and attempt to replace it on its own as I'm picking pieces of the glass out of my phone I could notice that the material that it is used to glue to the digitizer is the same type of consistency as they used to stick credit cards to paper when they send it to you so it should not be all that bad. I'm going to use a butane powered heat gun I got. A blow dryer I doubt would get hot enough.
If I am successful I will post the detailed write up and possibly video. At least pictures anyways.
There is YouTube video of a guy doing it on a galaxy S3 successfully any saying that it's his time is doing it for a friend in order to make the video.
If I am successful maybe I'll even offer service if you want to mail your phone out I could even additionally downgrade the H boot to 1.06 if people want that as well and are scared to do it. While I have it it doesn't take long 20-30 minutes.
I'm fairly confident it can be done and if not it's really no loss because you would have to replace the whole assembly anyways so might as well spend that 20 bucks or whatnot and give it a try if it can possibly save almost 200 or 150 or whatever.

LCD replaced, bottom quarter not responsive, bottom buttons no life. HELP

Hey guys, so i dropped my phone a couple of times which ended up in a smashed screen/lcd. i bought a replacement from eBay and installed it. it powered on fine, but the bottom quarter of the screen is very unresponsive and unreliable, the bottom row of buttons have no life in them whatsoever. the top half is fine. the lcd isn't sitting quite flush in the casing, although having a play around with it i couldn't solve the problem. has anyone been through the same situation and would care to shed some light?
Many thanks
I should also add, i didn't use any more adhesive, i thought the bit of leftoverstuff might of held it. could this possibly be what it is? do i need loads of adhesive to pad it out? is it avaliable on the high street or is it internet only?
anyone?

Sorry mate - I missed this post first time around. I have also replaced both my LCD and my Digitiser before now. You really need to do the replacement properly - when the adhesive is heated up so that you can separate the two parts you should remove as much of the old adhesive as you possibly can and then replace it with new stuff correctly and accurately. If the two part are touching then that may cause you a problem - although it may not.
You could have any of three real causes for this;-
1) The new digitiser cable isn't inserted correctly or is damaged somehow
2) The misuse of adhesive
3) The digitiser you bought might be cheap and sub-standard

Yeah i bought the digitizer and lcd together.
So i tried applying adhesive, had a nightmare with rounded screws/drivers but eventually got it back together. now it's charging and won't turn on.. still isn't sitting right, may give up unless there's someone out there that would fix it for <£20? i've got all the bits (probably will need new screws) just don't have the know-how.
I can't promise a miracle, but if you want to post it for me to have a look at then drop me a PM.

Digitizer replacement

Hello everybody!
Yesterday evening I dropped my phone and broke the digitizer. The LCD still works perfectly, though.
Has anybody bought a digitizer recently? How much should I pay for one? I'd rather spend as less as possible, but have a decent /good quality replacement.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: The reason of this question is that I am afraid of ending up buying a defective replacement and come across stupid behaviours like lag ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27948877 ) or partial unresponsiveness.
I've spotted some <10 euros shipped digitizers from China and Hong Kong on ebay like this ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-Desire-...tizer-Lens-Glass-S510e-Adhesive-/310722093025 ), would they be suitable (they seem veeery cheap).
There are some on amazon as well ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/DESIRE-REPL...K7GA/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A37V4Y5C680M31 ), I would be likely to buy this one, but maybe someone with more experience than me will point me in the right direction

Do it right and slowly and you'll be fine. Make sure you use tape between the LCD and Touch Screen when you replace it. And don't cover the sensors.

Yep, that's the one. It's very easy to impair the way it works if you don't line the tape up correctly when you replace the screen.

Ok, I'll be careful about aligning them. Is the sensor one piece with the lcd or is it a separate part? I am mainly worried about sticking the lcd and the digitizer together, i think that i can solve any problems disassembling the phone a second time. Do you suggest changing the adhesive for the screen? If so, can you suggest which tape should I buy? I read on sensation forums that the digitzer touching directly the body of the phone can cause ghost touches/unresponsive areas on the touch screen. Is that true?
Thanks you all for your answers, I appreciate that

The sensor is within the LCD screen, but I think it may be a physically separate part (it's been a while since I took my DS apart).
You should always fully remove all traces of the old tape and replace with new - search on Amazon or eBay for "2mm double-sided tape"
I never encountered 'ghost' touches, and you shouldn't either if you replace it correctly.
Ok, thanks. How much did you pay for your replacement part? Did it feel like the original?

Hi, I have a doubt. I'm on the repair, but I don't really know which tape is the best for this repair and for the GSII I'm doing next (and the ones in the future). Is this one fine or, if not, can you suggest a suitable one?

LCD replacement.

Both glass and the LCD touch screens are damaged, so I would need a total LCD + digitizer replacement. As I can read that it is glued together anyways, it is my only option.
Which replacement screen brand works the best? Can someone post some links?
I am in Turkey, Istanbul if that makes any difference.
Thanks!
