My wife has been running Fasty 2.4 for several months. It has started messing up and I will do a master reset tonight. I'm on a VZW phone so my attention to her Captivate and the options are limited. Looking for recommendations from you pros out there.
Need something VERY stable, relatively fast. Suggestions?
I was worried and put off flashing an ICS rom for a long time. Today they're working very well. I'd suggest Doc's, or Simply AOKP, or Slim ICS. All seem fairly clean and fast. Doc's will have the most preinstalled goodies, the others you can load up on your own with whatever apps you prefer.
SlimISC - the best. Slim + devil kernel - wonderful

If flashing an ics ROM beware of the encryption bug which renders your internal sd card useless.

For a wifes phone, id stick with simply stock. Everything works and its super stable.

The best ROM is the one that works right for you and your phone. Try a few on for size and make your decision.

Anyone know of a CM7 ROM for this device?
No cm7 as of yet.

When in doubt:
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices
Well even an unofficial port would be nice, I mean the HD2 isn't listed there but we have fully functional CM7 roms for that device.
I also don't see any SGS device listed but can't we convert this ROM to the SGS4G?

Thanks for the heads up. Is he working on porting an already existing vibrant ROM or cooking one from scratch?
Lol. Making a joke. No idea when it will be released, but with all of the new roms that were just released, I'm sure everyone will keep busy with those.

I'll take a look, I don't own this phone but a friend has it running stock and told me he wanted a new phone and that this one was a POS, I told him the hardware is great but Samsung'd coding is just amazingly terrible, so I've been looking for a good ROM to flash for him, but since I don't have the phone was going to just rock CM7 since you can't go wrong.
Any suggestions on a stable/fast ROM? It will be hard to test these for daily use since I don't own the device.

I am running bioinix frost and I love it as my main rom. I have no complaints about it. Icbinb was just released and that includes pretty much every mod and tweak for the phone. It is very smooth. I would recommend those two for now.

To save yourself the hassle of looking all over this forum for tweaks and stuff, you should probably just stick to ICBINB.7.
Bionix Frost would require you to look for all those tweaks!
Both are just as good though, imo.

You guys use one click root on this thing or is there an easy root method?
One click root is what I used. Bkoon has a great point. I an one of those that like to mess with the tweaks, so frost is for me. Icinb had everything included already.

I really liked the battery life in Serendipity VII.
Right now my Infuse has CM7 on it, which is experimental but usable as long as you're willing to accept its limitations, and has some nice features (such as flexible theming) not present in Samsung-derived ROMs. Which reminds me, I need to sync the repo and rebuild...
I really like DlevROM V5.0 , Its Fast!!!
It's my 3rd day on MIUI.. and i'm loving it.
I had Infused before this, and that was good too, but I like MIUI more. Specially the music controls.
I just wish one of these ROMs would have 4-digit pin without having to press OK.

Yes. This doesn't mean Infused is not going to be available. It's still gonna be good for when you want to switch to something more reliable while people fix all the first bugs on their ROMs based on the official GB ROM.

I'm a big fan of Liquid ROMs, so hopefully they overcome the issue quickly,

Ill take anything with data about now but Liquid and Twisted are my Rom's of choice when they come out.
twisted is my choice, he keeps it updated about everyday.
The good news is that it seems there is a rom with working data coming soon.
The 'bad' news is that it seems to be liquids rom.
Hopefully twisted can borrow it since his version works best for my phone.
if they sort the data out does that mean we hopefully will get ICS , miuiV4 and oakp(kang one protekk built) working possibly?
I hope twisted gdts it. I personally cant afford to buy(donate) just for the opprotunity to use a rom. With the wife out of work, supporting 2 kids, and the economy, every penny i already earn is accounted for. Things are very hard for us right now.

agreed. everybody has an opinion. If a dev cant take a shot, then they dont need to be deving. I personally have been back on the OG Rom rooted and deodexed for a few months now. I just got tired of ROMs with stuff not working.
Props to all the devs for what they do, but partially working ROMs just dont cut it for me. So I have been back on the OG rom for a few months now and very glad I did.

I used OMFGB for a long time. Recently though, I've changed to Thundershed and couldn't be happier. A lot of the same stuff, but with some newer enhancements and updates (OMFGB, for example, doesn't even have the locations fix built in as it hasn't been updated in...well, this year, maybe).

MIUI is interesting, but does it really afford any advantages with a tablet? Do you use your 7.7 as a regular phone as well?

Both of those roms are for 6800 only. I'm using locerras cm9 which is great.

MIUI would be nice. +1
https://github.com/MiCode
You are all free to do it.
Now seriously, if no developer is interested on working with it, no developer will work with it, and it won't be ported to the 7.7. Since MIUI has been closed source (despite being basically a fork of CM for a long time), people tend to dislike it. A lot. If you believe it's worth to port it, be aware that you either need to do it yourself OR try to convince some specific developer to do it.
I wouldn't hold my breath, though. Even the much bigger CM10.x has only a couple of developers on our tabs (three, if you count aorth who uses the very similar Tab 7 Plus and builds for the 7.7 occasionally).
I'm using linaro version of cm9, and its pretty smooth and quick. What do you guys think though? I also heard that provision is smooth, and someone told me to try gummy. Idk, just which one would u say is fastest? Nexus beam (galaxy s 4g beam now) is said to b fast but i find it slow.
