Could we at least get a 3g only port, from maybe the inc2 since they are somewhat similar as far as processors, etc? I'd hit thanks all day and maybe dig in my bank account for a donation.

The Liquid Dev I spoke to said the Liquid Team is working on the radio issues.
I'm a big fan of Liquid ROMs, so hopefully they overcome the issue quickly,
but good work takes time and Liquid Smooth 3.2 has been an awesome ROM
to run while I/We wait..

Ill take anything with data about now but Liquid and Twisted are my Rom's of choice when they come out.
twisted is my choice, he keeps it updated about everyday.
The good news is that it seems there is a rom with working data coming soon.
The 'bad' news is that it seems to be liquids rom.
Hopefully twisted can borrow it since his version works best for my phone.
if they sort the data out does that mean we hopefully will get ICS , miuiV4 and oakp(kang one protekk built) working possibly?
I hope twisted gdts it. I personally cant afford to buy(donate) just for the opprotunity to use a rom. With the wife out of work, supporting 2 kids, and the economy, every penny i already earn is accounted for. Things are very hard for us right now.

agreed. everybody has an opinion. If a dev cant take a shot, then they dont need to be deving. I personally have been back on the OG Rom rooted and deodexed for a few months now. I just got tired of ROMs with stuff not working.
Props to all the devs for what they do, but partially working ROMs just dont cut it for me. So I have been back on the OG rom for a few months now and very glad I did.

I used OMFGB for a long time. Recently though, I've changed to Thundershed and couldn't be happier. A lot of the same stuff, but with some newer enhancements and updates (OMFGB, for example, doesn't even have the locations fix built in as it hasn't been updated in...well, this year, maybe).

I was wondering if any of you guys were interested in full AOSP build or if CM7 was good enough for all you. If so, would you guys like optimized or pure vanilla, or both? I have some time soon, so if there's enough interest I'll compile a build for all y'all.
So who wants it?

Just how far from aosp does cm7 deviate?

Hellz yes please!
I'll give either one a go.
I, for one, would be interested in a AOSP rom for our Inspires. There are somethings in CM7 that I could careless for, although I found ways around them. ex: Removing ADW launcher and replacing with stock GB launcher.

Exactly I love getting into new things, and AOSP was next on my list. Unfortunately, high school and a tattooing apprenticeship take up a lot of my time, so the kernel went unsupported for a bit. It's going on the backburner, but it'll be re-cooked after I finish porting AOSP. I'm shooting for a fully working MIUI kernel too now that we have gingerbread 1.3.18, but AOSP takes precedence. plus cattleprod should probably be able to beat me to it. so I should be able to get started tomorrow night, or Monday morning at latest.

devs colaborate all the time. the reason for so many roms is that different users have differnt wants and needs that conflict and different devs have different ideal on how it should be done.
flash addiction will not be solved by a better rom.
it is imposible to satisfy everyone. you can combine all the popular apps and launchers into one rom but if a user wants light weight that will not meet that users criteria.
that said there have also been teams that do very good work. team komin did amazing work on andromeda. the rom and kernel were both very good. unforunately they are sticking to the i9010 sources and have fallen behind in os version. i wish they would do an alternate rom based on i9000 sources, so we could get gingerbread at that quality.
Agree with above. A big reason devs make roms is for themselves. They add the features they want as well as accepting input from the community.

Hey guys, I'm getting this phone via CL. The one I'm looking at guy says its preloaded with 2.3.3 via factory.
Question is if that's even possible since I know OTA for GB on this phone has never happened?
Also, to root it would I just Odin to GB bootloaders or Honks kernel?
Thanks guys!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
It wont be preloaded with GB via factory
You will need to flash a leaked GB like kg4 so you can have the GB bootloaders then flash drhonks kernel and your set
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
I'd ask for a screenshot for proof since these phones haven't even gotten official gb yet.
Yes you'd be able to root it with honk's kernel. You can also follow my gb starter pack guide to get good bootloaders etc.

Thanks guys. My only worry was that rooting and flashing would be different in case it is on 2.3.3.
But glad to know that I can still follow FB's guide to get to where I want it to be. I'm gonna let my beloved MT4G go for this so I hope I won't regret lol. Just wanted something different.

I doubt it would be a problem, since Odin would take care of everything. However, if the guy said it came preloaded with 2.3.3, you should probably make sure he's not giving you something else.

I feel pretty good about what we have now. ICS will come eventually, who knows when exactly but it will come. I have two other android phones and a tablet that all run ICS very smoothly. But I still choose this gingerbread runnin beast everyday over all the others. In my humble opinion, there will definitely be some frowning faces on the day ICS is officially released for our device.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Honestly its all just hype. ICS will come out and within 6 months we will be jumping to the next firmware. I think the community should put more focus on fully customizing and enjoying the capabilities of gingerbread. I really don't think we will be satisfied otherwise. That's why devs get turned off to making ROMs. They make something awesome and we use it for a week and then want more. So much greed!

It was who ever was working at the O2x forum "ICS 4.0 Sources Released....." If you mean those old alpha's from back in November, those are unrelated to to our ICS builds.
About HW accel, it works, but media accel doesn't work very well.
I feel that whitehawkx AOKP with the forward ported kernel works well. If you by chance judged it as sluggish because you used EB ICS build 3 and flashed a different kernel it's because you can't flash other kernels on EB ICS.
Sent from Narnia
It's been stated by almost all devs including arcee stating that HW accel isn't 100% just a hack to get it sort of working.
I didn't flash a different kernel on EB ICS, as it has been stated not too.

So who fixed it then? cause it feels the same as it did with arcees build 3, sure its a little smoother but not enough to be fixed 100%. Arcee made the statement about 3 weeks ago that the hack is as good as it's going to get without drivers/source...
