Solution: Apparently, switching from the stock rom to CM9 fixes this problem. At least with firefox.
Setup: I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Player. The wireless network where I volunteer has a proxy on their wireless that requires you to login before you can access the internet.
Thankfully, it's set up so that (on a properly functioning device) any website you visit is replaced by the login page if you're not logged in. After you login, that same page refreshes to the url you originally entered.
Behavior
On my laptop, and my friends iphone, this works just fine. However, on my droid it does not, whether I use the built in web browser, firefox, or opera. Instead of the login page, I get the standard 'page load error' page.
If I input the url for the login page it pulls up just fine, but does not redirect properly after I login. It simply reloads the same page over and over, simply appending (rather than replacing) the url of the site I want to visit to the login page's url. This same behavior occurs if (after logging in) I type a url directly into the address box.
I've tried a few different proxy apps, and configured them to what I think is the proxy (determined with tracert on laptop), but get the same page loading error, even with the login page.

With the past couple of roms I flashed, I cannot get the GMAIL Java App to work:
Heres my setup:
Esmertec Jbed Build 20070802.2.1
Newest Gmail Java from web.
I run it, enter user name and password, hit sign in and then it switches to the inbox view, theres no messages or anything and it says:
0kb Loading...
Then switches to 1kb Loading and I get the following Message:
Network Unavailable
"This program requires a data connection. Please contact your carrier, or visits the gmail for mobile FAQ on your computer for more info."
I have Opera Mini 4 (Java) installed and that works fine.
My ATT plan includes unlimited media.net. I have "fixed" the "My ISP GPRS" connection to use: wap.cingular, and the username to [email protected]
All other internet apps work fine.
Any clues or suggestions?
Thanks,
Rich
It's not your settings. Gmail does the same thing for my phone. When I directed to gmail.com/app using PIE, it displayed my phone as an LG U500? Something like that. Maybe that's the problem.
Using Google Maps, everything is fine.
Navigating there with opera mini, however, I never get to download anything. It just keeps redirecting me to the website seen on desktops, not mobile phones.
So anyway, yea...problem with the application, maybe?
Well the wierd thing is that the JAVA GMail App worked for me like 2 weeks ago.

Hi,
My problem is the following:
I use a software named shutter, which is a software allowing me to shutdown my computer remotely. This software is installed on my computer at home and works as server.
The way to use it is to enter the url in any browser like this http://ip:Port and a page is loaded with two fields, username and password, allowing me to be authenticated on my server remotely.
From a normal computer, I tried with IE and firefox and it works fine.
Thus, I tried with my mobile phone using IE mobile and opera mobile 9.5 and impossible to reach the server. However with an Iphone (safari) it works.
it seems that shutter uses an http authentication and I don't know why it doesn't work on ie+opera mobile. Wrong setting? not supported? By looking on msdn it seems that http authentication is supported by IE.
Anyway, do you have an idea on how to set my browser to reach my server?
Thanks
I am using Easy Tether, which is great (on my rooted htc Hero) - I can access all websites EXCEPT email! Yahoo and gmail are the two I use and neither will grant me access. When I try, it hangs and hangs and eventually comes up with this message below, but all other websites work just fine. Any ideas?
The connection has timed out
The server at www.google.com is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Are you using EasyTether Lite? If so, this is because in order to login to those sites you need to use https, the secure version of the http protocol. EasyTether Lite blocks https probably as a way to get you to pay for it
Hi,
I have a trouble with my Transformer (B70 SKB v2, therefore not ROOTED !)
I'm unable to connect to the Market on my Work network. Everything works fine at home where I have a private network. I'm able to connect, surf, and market works like a charm.
The problem is in my office where the network is a 802.1x EPA network. I can connect to this network using TTLS for example.
Surf is OK,
Access to the market via Opera and https is OK,
BUT when I lanch the Market application I have : "No connexion : Retry"
I also have trouble because I can access my google Agenda, but no modifications are transmitted throw the web. Update are only done when I'm at home.
Kindly Regards,
Olivier
I have to add some information.
The problem seems to be linked to https connection.
I don't know why, but if I use Opera to browse my google calendar web page via an https connection, everything is Ok, but I CAN'T use both Dolphin Browser or the native Web browser of the tablet, I always have a "No secure connection".
Very strange !
I'm tryng to get the Username to be remembered on internet sites that require log in. Is there a toggle for it in the settings?
Thanks
Hi
I've checked every corner and did not find what you're looking for. However there are alternatives to the stock Internet Explorer.
UC Browser is one such browser and has a few more features added compared to IE, it also has password and form auto-complete.
Cheers,
My webmail saves my username, but my bank doesn't.
It may have something to do with each login page's setup.

Every site I visit has the same behavior as PC Browser. Facebook, Hotmail, Google never ask me to inform password again. Can't understand exactly what you want.
Is it a Chrome/Firefox behavior your expected?
