video player that retrives subs - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

I mostly use mxplayer but I used to use BSPlayer also. It was especially useful because it would automatically go online and retrieve subtitles. Now that I have installed Abduction ICS it crashes.
Does anyone know of a video player that can retrieve subs online?

i've had similar issue with apps crashing after upgrading to ICS, i used TI backup to restore. and some apps kept on crashing. i had to uninstall, and clear the davlik cache and reinstall from market. this worked for some apps. you may want to see if this method helps.

Thanks for that tip. I had extracted the app from a previous Nandroid because I could not remember the name of it! Seems to work okay now. Could not find subs for the movie I was viewing but at least it ran properly and did the search.

You can also try mvideoplayer hd, it's free and as a very nice UI it also as the option for download subtitles.

[Q] Can anyone play all kinds of music files and video files from their Asus Pad?

Seems like some video/music formats can't be played on this pad.
Anyone know a good program to download that will let you play all formats?
and is everyones facebook widget force closing on them? like mine it keeps force closing.
Transformer only opens mkv, mp4, mp3, ogg as far as I know (I don't have the device). To open other formats you need to download apps - look into the apps thread or to Xoom forum for some direction (or search on market for file types you like to open).
for music use power amp. It works.
Rock player works for video, so thats every format covered?
Popular (for music) are also APE and MPC but searching the market reveals many, many apps that play them (and personally I convert all the ape files I get to flac anyway).
And yes, the facebook widget and the application itself "force closes" almost immediately.
I looked for the friend stream widget that I have on my Desire HD rom, but I guess that is part of HTC apps.

vital player ( free ) is also working well for me.
however annoyingly when using MyNet ( dlna ) you cant choose a program to open the video files with so the file just errors with can play this video type
Currently trying to play a 1280x720 -x264- MKV file. Standard player is full of green blocks when trying to run it. Using Rock Player the picture is very clear but it's very jerky like the frame rate is about 5.
Am I doing something wrong? Surely it should play perfect?

[Q] Using moboplayer with Upnplay does not compute

Hi all
Yesterday I wanted to try and play some streaming videos using upnplay and moboplayer. However, whatever file I choose in Upnplay, moboplayer continues to come with an error message saying: can't load (insert filename) file.
Playing the video locally works normal, it seems to be a problem between upnplay/moboplayer.
If I choose rockplayer it works well, but rockplayer does not play mkv files very good.
I also tried diceplayer. This works excellent, however I only have a trial version, I can buy the program, but I think moboplayer should do the trick as well??
Any suggestions?
Did you load the moboplayer codecs?
If you did try removing and reinstalling it.
I did download the codecs. And I did uninstall and reinstall moboplayer itself, I will try to uninstall the codecs and reinstall. However, codecs work fine, since playing from tab itself gives no problems...
Did you also remove/reinstall upnp?
Try also clearing defaults & cache for both apps and test
Will try this stuff when I am home again, thanks in advance.
Had the same problem. Downloaded Daroon Player. Works like a charm and has much better UI imo. And its free

Same here, this issue seems to occour after the 3.2 update. Not sure who is to blame. Upnp takes longer to load, and files which did load previously seem to fail now.
I did not yet install 3.2 and am reluctant to do that, so my problem is not related to this update
ok, maybe you just need to recycle your router/network. This sometimes resolves streaming issues. Since you already re-installed the apps. Have you tried this?
No, I did not reinstall everything yet, I will do that when I'm home again. Bedankt voor de tips
Ok I tried everything. Reinstalled everything, nothing worked. So I figured... Maybe it is my Upnp server. I tried using my PC as a server and.. It worked perfectly with moboplayer!
So I was a o look at the settings of my NAS. And I saw that there was a space in my folder name! I removed the space by using a underscore and.... Voila, it worked!!!
I feel kinda stupid, but at least it works now! Although the MKV file still gave trouble for moboplayer. I had to use software decoding, but that gave a choppy mess... So I reconcider getting diceplayer instead since it worked flawlessly on the trial version. Damn buggers only increased the price yesterday from euro 2.69 to 3.30

[Q] Valhalla Black RC3.2 Video Player Unresponsive

The video player can play a video taken from camcorder just fine. However, the screen goes black and app does not respond after the video ends. Able to use home key to return to home page, but the app is unresponsive until force close and restarted. I get the same result when viewing videos thru the camcorder mode or directly from the native video player app. Is there something I have overlooked?
Not sure if this went on with prior version as I am only putting the rom through its paces seeing how stable this version has been for me. Thanks for any insight anyone may be able to shed. By the way, I've tried both the 2d & 3.1 kernel with similar results.
Delete the .apk, clear cache partition and dalvik cache, fix permissions, reboot let phone sit 10 minutes then push the video player .apk from the stock rom and see if that helps. Or download a different one from the market.

Thanks for your help.
Does that mean it is working? I hope so. Add [SOLVED] to the thread title. Thanks.
I recommend deleting the original video player and installing mx video player from the market. Much much better...

Streaming avi files from Dropbox

I have tried several players with no luck streaming a .avi file from dropbox. Has anyone had any success in doing this?
u cant stream only download
Can you stream media from any of the cloud sources
Hey, so I ran across this post today because I was trying to do the same thing. It took me a while, but I think I may have figured it out.
Go to the play store and download these two:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anttek.explorer&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anttek.remote.cloud&hl=en
.
Sign in on the Drop Box client in the Anttek (on the top left of the application: click on device, select cloud , and then Dropbox)
From there pick the file and play!
I tested it with Mx Player, Mobo Player, and VLC Beta player. Worked on all of them perfectly, Mx Player took a while but VLC player Beta Player worked like "butter" on some Jelly beans haha ;-)
My phone: HTC Sensation
My Rom: Virtuous Eclipse
Android 4.03
HTC Sense 4.0
I hope this works!! Good Luck my fellow Android user!
no jacking off tonight
That is a genius workaround. I'll definitely be using that since I have unlimited LTE. Thanks.
I downloaded the two apps that you suggested and I also downloaded the vlc direct pro free app, but when I try to open a video file using the file explorer it says the file size is too large to open directly. Can you upload a full length movie to dropbox and then try your method to see if it still works?
Is dropbox the only cloud storage with this issue or can you stream avi's from google drive?
You should be able to start downloading any video file from most hosting services and immediately be able to play it in your video player of choice (I use DicePlayer). Then when you are finished watching the video, you can delete the file after.
At least this is what works best for me...

UMGixxer, I figured it out.... Go to dropbox app, rename the video to .flv. For example. ToyStory3.MPV may not play, but ToyStory3.FLV will play... Tell me if this works!!

Well I downloaded another media player "mx player" and it worked fine, I think I didnt have the actual vlc player that i was trying to use. But I wonder if your method will work with the stock media player.

Good question, I havent tried it. But then again, I never use the stock media player...
You can do this in ES File Explorer as well, just by linking it to your Dropbox account. You do need a media player that will play the formats you've got on Dropbox--MX Player works well for me.

Default video app settings missing in my Android 7 now? SOLVED!

Just today 17th February 2017 Nougat OS had been working fine since installed on 11th Feb but today I could not play video files from within other apps ie whatsapp where it had been work fine. Videos open up but will not play and when I went into the Honor Video app properties via settings I noticed in Open By Default there is No Default set now and there used to be.
But if I open the video app directly and play a video they play or open video from a folder the also play..
Did try with another video app VLC same problem...
Anyone had this problem..
UPDATE.... Fixed now!
Uninstalled WA, VLC and reinstall WA and restore the backup of WA, videos play now with Honor Video player. So went ahead and install VLC again and videos play now and the option to select video player is back..
Oh well all good for now

Not seeing such problem on my H8 (L09 with B360), it could be bug of other app, most probably the video player.
When you tap on a video in Whatsapp to play it, does it prompt you to choose a video player to use? If you don't see this prompt then you probably had already set a default player. Go to Settings > Apps, check on all the video player you've installed to see if it's set as default player, if yes then you can click on the Clear Default button to clear it.
After that you can tap on a video again in Whatsapp to set a new default video player, or like me, just use the "Just Once" option and don't set any default player.

Yes did all over the above and even installed VLC player and I always had option "Just Once" up to the point when videos stopped playing cleared cache before Uninstalled of VLC, cleared cache of Honor Video player. I had even reinstalled an earlier version of Whatsapp without installing the backup of whatsapp same problem...
Thank any how ?
