[Q] wiping boftain ns v1 and installing original Rom - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My problem is that i installed boftain ns v1 and now i want to delete and install the original one. Whenever i rebot to recovery my phone gets jammed at the Google sign. Please help. Usually i would connect the phone and odin will recognize it and install the Rom. But this time it want work. Thx

If you can boot into recovery manually (turn off the phone. Hold volume up + power button and select recovery, I assume you have CWM installed)
you can follow these steps:
Select storage -> mount SD
than copy the official android 4.0.3 to your SD (you can find the official rom easily here on XDA)
select unmount SD
Than go to install zip from sd card, chose the zip, chose the stock rom you've downloaded and hit yes. This first boot should be a little bit longer than usual.
You should now be in stock 4.0.3, and should be able to update to 4.0.4 going to the settings of your phone.
If you cant even get to recovery, there is a linux tool to fix a bricked nexus s. find it in the development section I guess

flashed to TNT lite 2.4 - boot loop help

I put the update and recovery in the internal sd card. I installed tnt and when I rebooted I went into a boot loop.
I then put update.zip and recovery ( changing to sdcard2 in command) and I see the box. It installs then it reboots into a boot loop.
What should I try next?

Per this very imformative guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
If your tablet bootloops…
Press and hold the power button to shut the device down. Boot back into Clockwork. Select the advanced option at the bottom, then go to “partition SD card”, for the first option select 4096, and for the second option select 64. Then, redo steps 7-10.

Follow same procedure with microsd 2, but this time install Clockwork .8. Same setup with placing Clockwork on the device.
Once installed you can access Clockwork at power-up by pressing power + volume up. Once there, clear the cache and data (two options on main screen and use volume to scroll and home to select). You should boot up now. If not, some of the XDA elders may need to chime in to help.
If still in bootloop, open Clockwork again, but this time go to bottom to activate USB storage. Connect USB and then activate- this should show you the internal space. Place the TnT 2.4 update in the root of it (no recovery directory).
1. Deactivate USB storage
2. Clean cache and data
3. Chose install update.zip
4. Pick the update.zip
Should be out of the loop once complete.
Try a reflash, clear cache, wipe the user data (in that order, try the next if the previous did not work). Worst case scenario is re-partitioning the SD card which seems to work most of the time.
I have mentioned this before, but I really think that our devices are either not imaged properly or our SD partitions become corrupt over time. I would also argue that clockworkmod is really a requirement for anyone using these mods. It's so critical when problems like this occur.
I tried this:
Instructions for those with clockworkmod .08:
- Extract the RAR and place the update.zip file anywhere in /sdcard (do NOT just copy the original RAR, that won't work! You have to open up the RAR and copy the update.zip inside. You don't need the /recovery folder for cwm). I would recommend putting the file on the root of /sdcard, since it will be easier to upgrade that way.
- Reboot into recovery. Do a backup first, as that's always a good idea.
- Then, choose "apply sdcard:update.zip", assuming you added the update.zip to the root of /sdcard, and run it.
- Reboot.
Note: I have heard reports that this might "Status 7" and I have no fix for that, yet. It seems to be intermittent.

Clockworkmod v.08 only update.zip (for technical users only!) :
I installed the sd card update and I still get the same reboot loop. What am I doing wrong?
The flash was probably successful, but a boot loop occurred afterwards. This does happen. Since you have clockworkmod, you have a lot of things you can do, as I mentioned.
I got it running.
I fixed the adoble flash, installed a pdf viewer, and titanium backup.
I cant't see the tabs in titanium backup for some reason.
My screen does not auto rotate even thought its set to auto rotate.
Install Adw.Launcher , if you want it to rotate.

recovery mode boot problem

I just got my new g tablet and the new update fails everytime, so I'm trying to flash the new update 3389 using recovery mode. But only some small words pop up in the upper left side, but no status bar or anything else. What am I doing wrong?
What words?
It reads " detect a recovery key pressed booting recovery kernel image "
Should I put an SD card in?
I would highly advise you install Clockworkmod.
If you do not wish to do so, try to remove the recovery image off your internal SD card. I have found after flashing a TnT stock or Lite ROM, you must remove the recovery image or you'll end up in reboot mode forever.
If you don't have Clockworkmod, you may be forced to use an external SD card to install the original stock ROM.
Or....reflash whatever update.zip file you have. It may allow you to boot into the ROM once and then you could delete the recovery image before rebooting.
Luckily I flashed TnT Lite which also installed clockworkmod. I was able to hook my tablet up to the PC and mount it as a drive. I removed the recovery file and victory was mine!

i am new to all these words and stuff but want to learn them all...please help...
Very easy, hook up your phone to your PC and select USB mode, drop your downloaded zip file in the SD card (the rom) then disconnected from PC, turn off phone and take out battery for 2 secounds, put battery in and hold down volume and power button till a white hboot screen shows, it will load some files, just wait (its normal) use volume down and hit recovery, once in recovery make a backup of your current rom, ALWAYS BACKUP, to do that wipe dalvik cache first then hit backup, after its complete go to mounts and storage and format cache, data and system, once complete go to install zip from sd card, find the zip you want to flash/install on the list (that would be your rom zip file) click install, once done reboot your done "click thanks if it helps"

Install a ROM based on the new firmware, the old one won't boot unless you reflash old firmware.
I recommend reflashing the old firmware getting messages, contacts, etc onto your memory card.
Then flash 3.32 firmware. Then format all partitions except SD Card from recovery. Then install your ROM.
Im sorry im brand new to all of this I just rooted my phone fine and then I tried doing something and it messed up can you give a step by step on what to do and with details it would be really helpful. Thanks !
To install a new rom based on the 3.32 firmware you download the rom to your computer plug in your device after It's downloaded, your device needs to be debugging on in settings, you will then check run as disk drive instead of charge option, then click on file sharing , go to downloads, share with disk drive e the removable disk drive which is your device.this will copy the rom to the root of your sd card. Unplug. Then go into recovery, wipe data factory reset, wipe cash, wipe dalvick cash, stay in recovery when finished, then install zip from sd card, stay in recovery, reboot. Then you have installed your rom. You want to make sure the firmware matches the rom. Ics Roms or 4.0.3, are 3.32 firmware gb Roms are different firmware. Hope this helps. You have 3.32 firmware so use a Ics rom. (4.0.3). This is how I flash mine. Good luck and hope I helped.

Steps 1 (method 2) & 4 from here.
The file required for 4: http://www64.zippyshare.com/v/66813266/file.html
Now, once done, pull out the battery from the phone. Remove the SD Card. Reinsert the battery.
Boot to bootloader by holding Volume down & Power button.
Next, select Recovery option. It will take some time to boot without the SD Card.
You will then see a menu. Don't switch off the phone but just insert the SD Card.
Select mounts|storage > mount /sdcard
Go back to the previous menu.
Select Toggle USB Storage.
Your SD Card can now be accessed from the computer. Delete the PG58IMG.zip from SD Card
Copy the ROM of your choice & put it on the SD Card.
Once done, select Disconnect (on the phone)
Select wipe|format >Format all partitions except SD Card.
Once done, go back.
Select Install zip from SD Card. Select your ROM zip file & install.
Once done, reboot.

Did you bother to read the guide?
Connect USB in bootloader (fastboot USB), fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, fastboot reboot-bootloader
I'm not going to answer any more questions.
Whatever you need has already been linked to you.
Thank you so much, do you have any tips on what I should do next ?

[Q] what am i doing wrong

hi
i have a optimus 3d p920 on orange (uk) (just unlocked to any network)
android version- Gingerbread 2.3.5
software version- V20d june 2012
everytime i try and put a rom on, the phone goes into boot loop (lg logo then unlit black screen)
i root using megatron
install ROM manager
install clockwork recovery 6.0.1
I download zip
plug in phone
cody zip to sd card but NOT external sd card (filemanager shows it as /mnt/sdcard)
go on ROM manager
click on boot in recovery
already done back up of original rom saved on sd card clockworkmodrecovery file
i wipe data/format
i wipe cache partition
then go i go into advance then wipe cache dev
then i go back on to menu
click on install rom from sdcard
find the zip then click yes to install
says its installed then i click reboot and then it becomes stuck
sometimes it would install CM10 or PACMAN (after turning it on and off for a while) then after about 5 mins would reboot its self and get stuck again
so i will then unplug battery, hold Vol up connect usb and open up lg support tool and then recover as carnt get into cwm recovery and install backup from sd card.
i have noticed in the mount/format tab that only the /data is mounted and not (as follows)
/external sd card
/sdcard
/system
/emmc
as they have mount next to them...
its driving me mental
so please help
(if posted in wrong section then sorry im new)
(also posted on optimus 3D general forum section just reposted on here just in case no one goes on that section for ages so again sorry if wrong)
Try to use cwm 5 oder twrp 2. I heard that cmw6 sometimes makes trouble.
Iv had cwm5 before and that bricked too. i have even tried cwm touch but no look
even when i click reboot in recovery on ROM Manager it bricks it.
is it a common problem with ROM Manager and p920?
