Don't I install the bootanimation.zip through recovery?
I may have done it the hard way.. I edited the zip, renamed it to VZWbootanimation.zip I edited the innards to match the original zip file.
I tried adb pushing it and flashing it via recovery and neither worked :/
I can't try again until this weekend..

I noticed that the resolution of the .jpegs are 480 x 854, the DIncs is 480 x 800, could this be a reason it's not working?
No, I initially had it working with the original jpgs.. But it was jerky.
Later I reduced the pics to 400x800 png files, and reduced the color depth bit from 24 to 8, to resemble the specs of incredible's oem boot ani in hopes to smoothing-out the animation.
I hope to find the right combination...

Yeah no problem usually putting everything in the part 0 folder works for me unless there's a specific part that need to loop lol

Another easy way is to take a life wallpaper that you already have, unpack it, and replace the image files with your choosing then resign and repack the apk. I did this with the blue android boot animation that seanscreemz had on sky ics gb.

it wont fit, we need 800x1280 the skins are 1280x800, and screen rotation does not work.

I bet you haven't try it. I am using it and it looks awesome. There's never a rotation on TWRP.

Word of caution for those who are adventurous, don't try the 1080 version, as I did, you won't be able to reboot the phone without a PC because you can't reach the reboot menu.

I was going to repack the recovery.img but unsuccessful with Win 8 PC, if anyone here are interested, please let me know. I can work on the recovery's boot screen image.

I've used this to repack every TWRP image for all the devices I manage including this tab 4 and it works for me on Win 8.1..1. Really easy to use. It seems the curtain (recovery boot screen) can also be changed in TWRP too, though I've not tried that yet.
This is the one I'm using now.

I don't know dude, I pull this bootanimation from my xt925 with 4.4.2 Canda Retail
Ok, so I think it's correct.
Currently I'm running a custom rom on Lollipop 5.1.1, probably the trouble is this.
