So I just noticed a troubling side effect of our device's aggressive memory management: 3rd party alarm apps don't work!
I use myClock, and have been using it on 3 different android devices without issue. Yesterday I was almost late for work because when using myClock for an alarm, it didn't go off until the phone was "awake!"
This morning I tested it by setting an alarm on my wife's phone and my phone for the same time. Her alarm went off, and my phone didn't do jack until I pressed the power button to turn on the screen. Then my alarm went off immediately. It acts the same for snooze: won't activate until I turn on the acreen.
I haven't tested the stock clock app yet, but I assume it will work fine. Guess I'm stuck with it for now. Anyone else have this issue?
I haven't had that issue. I used alarm clock xtreme all week without an issue. Snooze and everything works.

Fyi, myclock has been working fine for me.

Alarm Klock works great for me!

Hmmm... Are your phones plugged in or on battery? I've had mine unplugged from the wall. Tonight I'll try to leave it charging...
Mine has worked on and off the charger.

Ive been using AlarmDroid since I got the phone on the 4th... been working great the whole time.

Ok so I turned my HOX att off last night. When I was waking up this morning it turned on as I was getting out of bed. I was kind of confused. It may be something simple im not thinking of but has anyone heard of it randomly turning on?
Almost 200 views? No one has ever had a hint of this problem?
Well the other day I was awoken by my phone restarting itself.

Ok. This may have been what happened to me but I was pretty sure I had turned it all the way off. hmmmm anyone else like to join in?
These phone have fastboot, so it essential is in a sleep/hibernation mode. I have seen my smokescreen flash on right before it boots, maybe something to do with that.

Do you have an alarm set? My Nexus One would turn itself on to ring the alarm even after I shut it off (scared the piss out of me the first time it did it!). I'm not sure about the HOX as I've not turned it off for any length of time.

Anyone having issues with recurring alarms not always going off? I have used my cell phone as my recurring weekday work alarm for years, and so far the One-X has failed to go off about 10 times in the month since i got it.
I wonder if this has something to do with the phone going into "deep sleep" mode at night. It certainly is good about not using a bunch of standby battery overnight, but i'd take a little drain to ensure that i'm not late for work.
I think i'm going to try keeping it plugged in all night to see if that fixes the problem, because if i remember right it has been the nights that i leave it sitting unplugged when it doesn't go off.
Thanks!
I've always used alarming app as my alarm and it has had no issues.

I've had that issue. Also the timer app consistently doesn't go off. I blame the multi tasking issue.
It's quite the annoyance, and it wasn't fixed by the official OTA 1.85 update. I'm curious to hear from folk running custom ROMs. That might indicate whether it's a multitasking issue or a "deep sleep" issue.
No problems here, I use 3 different alarms and all work flawlessly. Try deleting and re-creating.
I haven't had any issues, I have my alarm set for every day of the week and it hasn't failed me yet! Double check all your settings/etc. Make sure you didn't make a mistake!

Its not a settings issue. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. I have it set to wake me up for work at 5:20 and it failed to go off a couple times so now i have another actual alarm clock to wake me up at 5:19. Ive woken up a couple times to it not going off. It doesn't do it that often, maybe 1 time every two weeks. The timer is what bothers me. It consistently doesn't go off. As soon as I unlock the phone, then the timer goes off, but if it is locked, the timer wont go off.

Yeah, i'm sure the two issues are related (timer and alarm). Are you stock or running a custom ROM? Like to know if the multitasking "fixes" in some of these roms remedies the issue.
I had a similar problem that turned out to be a clock issue. The clock would fall behind when I was on wifi and it went into deep sleep, and when it woke up...it would stay behind...even if I have network settings checked, or unchecked...all the usual stuff was troubleshooted. When the clock catches up to the real time...it skipped the alarm because it jumped ahead 20 minutes or whatever the time that it was behind. I called at&t, and their best advice was restore to factory. My phone hasn't done it since I restored and alarms are now flawless.
Good luck

Yes. I've had this very same issue. Started using Alarm Clock Extreme Free. Works great & u can set it up so you have to solve a math problem to shut it off.

I'm running CleanRom 3.1 SE and this has been happening to me. Last two days in a row I've been late to work, I just flashed CleanRom 3.1 SE over the previous version three days ago.
I am going to upgrade to 3.1.1 tonight with multitask mod v.2 and see if it helps.
Side note: I tried setting the alarm on my g2x instead last night. That horrible phone drained to zero battery from a full charge doing nothing xD. I need to stop using phones as alarm clocks..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Since I posted this I have switched to Cleanrom 3.1.1 as well. I haven't had the issue again, but I think what has solved it is keeping it plugged in overnight. Can't say for sure if the rom changed the behavior at all. Plugging it in was making it work consistently when it was stock too.
My phone is always plugged in at night. This issue still occurred.

i traded my white one x for a white rooster and havent been late to works in weeks!

Try deleting the alarm and making a new one. I did that as well.
Updated to 3.1.1 SE via the patch and my alarm went off this morning. I'm claiming it's an issue with the memory mod v1

This is a very scary issue because like most people my alarm is my phone. Have you guys pin pointed a problem yet. Is everyone affected on a cleanrom?

I didn't really have any issues with the free app but upgraded to pro after reading about people using TuneIn as their alarm clock wake up.
1. Has anyone set this up as their alarm and how?
2. Anyone notice the app drawing way more battery life. Also, now when I unplug the headphones when listening, it now continues to play through the phone speakers when it used to stop playing before.

Unfortunately this is one of those strange cases when id rather have the free app vs the paid. I have the paid tune in but dont use it because the car app only uses the lite or free version. What does pro give us, favorites?
Yeah, I think I'm just going to use the lite version.

I use the pro version for hours and hours everyday with very few issues. I use it with my Bluetooth headphones though, and I don't use the alarm feature.

Can't speak for battery usage (still running in my HOX) but just figured out the alarm setting - it's far from obvious!
When viewing a station full screen, swiping toggles through a carousel of pages: the options page with alarm & sleep timer is 2 swipes to the left. Just tested it and worked perfectly, though you'd need to leave a data connection on overnight or schedule it with something like Tasker. HTH
My Photon hit 100% charge at 4am and the audible alarm went off and woke me up. Couldn't go back to sleep. Ruined my day.
Can someone PLEASE post how to disable the alarm for when it hits 100% charged?
I would greatly appreciate it. I've been through all the settings and menus multiple times and I cannot find it.
Thanks in advance.
There is the same topic a page back it seems using the usb cable that comes with the charger works. I use it and my phone doesn't do the fully charged sound until i pick it up and turn the screen on in the morning. Then it gives the full charge sound and the toast message

The thread didn't come up when I searched.
You could have just posted the link like I have below:

That may be what YOUR phone is doing. But, MY phone is sounding an audible alarm when fully charged. It is brand new and out of the box from sprint. I cannot disable it.
Sorry was to lazy and posting from the work. And sounds like your problem is the same problem. And you didnt say if you were using the stock charger and usb cable?

best thing i do is use smart actions and set it to silent at night. you can program who you want to ring through silent mode incase you need to get that late night call. while killing the rest of the sounds.
I would have to say the same as Gxkon

That post may have actually solved your problem... The *normal* operation of the phone is to stay silent when fully charged, and when you turn on the screen while it's still plugged in it will sound a notification and tell you it's fully charged. When *your* phone is plugged in and charging, are you leaving the screen on? It may be that when the screen stays on, it will not delay the notification, so it sounds in the middle of the night. If you are not leaving the screen on, have you installed anything? There's probably something else triggering that charged notification.
There are others claiming the same (or similar) problem as you in the linked thread (screen turns on by itself along with the notification sound at 100% charge), though my phone does not do that and I am not using the OEM charger cable). I don't know of any settings to enable/disable that feature.
Back when I had my Samsung transform there were mods to remove the sound/notification. I just purchased this phone and I should be getting it sometime next week. I'll take a look at this when I get it I'm planning on cooking up a custom rom for this phone and this is a good idea for a mod to add to it.

Does anyone notice that sometimes the icon that tells you an alarm is set vanishes?
I keep seeing mind gone but if I go in and hit save it comes back.
My fear is I miss alarms lol though the few times I test it seemed to still go off but the icon was also showing during those times :/
Sometimes goes away but the alarm stays set.
Haven't noticed that but my wifi icon does.

this used to be a problem with cm11 but it hasn't happened to me on the gs5 yet.
Yup. Happens to me too. If I turn it off and back on the icon comes back.
Happens to me...havent been brave enough to not let it ride tho.lol

So I exchanged my phone due to a 3G issue and the new one doesn't do this lol.
FWIW the alarm "seemed" to work on the other one still despite the icon vanish.
Odd new one not doing but not going to complain lol
The replacement phone is actually older by 8k units based by SN even. (original was online order)
I hide my alarm icon with wanam xposed
