Turned on randomly? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Ok so I turned my HOX att off last night. When I was waking up this morning it turned on as I was getting out of bed. I was kind of confused. It may be something simple im not thinking of but has anyone heard of it randomly turning on?

Almost 200 views? No one has ever had a hint of this problem?

Well the other day I was awoken by my phone restarting itself.

Ok. This may have been what happened to me but I was pretty sure I had turned it all the way off. hmmmm anyone else like to join in?

These phone have fastboot, so it essential is in a sleep/hibernation mode. I have seen my smokescreen flash on right before it boots, maybe something to do with that.

Do you have an alarm set? My Nexus One would turn itself on to ring the alarm even after I shut it off (scared the piss out of me the first time it did it!). I'm not sure about the HOX as I've not turned it off for any length of time.

are you guys having these issues?

the notification led is constantly flashing green, i can't figure out how to turn it off. i don't know if its on for the signal or what, it flashes wether i have all the notifications on or off. when using the camera, every time the phone refocuses it makes a tick noise. also when i shake the phone i can hear something that moving around, and it sounds like its in the camera. after fully charging my phone for the first time it went to 99% and after taking it off the charger for 7 hours its still at 99%, which would be excellent if i didn't think it was lying to me.
Hopefully you didn't unlock the BLer and send that back for a new one...

i tried they ones in the store, all have the same issue, ah well i think the led going off constantly was because of juice defender or light flow or something i installed. restored the phone and not flashing anymore

Overheating question.

When I watch a tv episode on the internet on my phone it gets really hot. And every time I'm done watching it and click the home button sense always re-starts. It goes to the "loading" screen. I was wondering if this was due to overheating? Does anybody else's phone do this too?

Nope, you are just away from the launcher long enough that the OS is unloading it from memory.
I forgot to mention that at the bottom of my screen every now and then there will be a gray box with "preparing sim" in it. What is this? And why is it doing this?

It's probably either because you are switching airplane mode on and off. All it means is that it's checking to see which phone number your phone has so you get access to the cell service you paid for. It really is trivial.
But never once have a turned airplane mode on.

Alarm not going off

Anyone having issues with recurring alarms not always going off? I have used my cell phone as my recurring weekday work alarm for years, and so far the One-X has failed to go off about 10 times in the month since i got it.
I wonder if this has something to do with the phone going into "deep sleep" mode at night. It certainly is good about not using a bunch of standby battery overnight, but i'd take a little drain to ensure that i'm not late for work.
I think i'm going to try keeping it plugged in all night to see if that fixes the problem, because if i remember right it has been the nights that i leave it sitting unplugged when it doesn't go off.
Thanks!
I've always used alarming app as my alarm and it has had no issues.

I've had that issue. Also the timer app consistently doesn't go off. I blame the multi tasking issue.
It's quite the annoyance, and it wasn't fixed by the official OTA 1.85 update. I'm curious to hear from folk running custom ROMs. That might indicate whether it's a multitasking issue or a "deep sleep" issue.
No problems here, I use 3 different alarms and all work flawlessly. Try deleting and re-creating.
I haven't had any issues, I have my alarm set for every day of the week and it hasn't failed me yet! Double check all your settings/etc. Make sure you didn't make a mistake!

Its not a settings issue. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. I have it set to wake me up for work at 5:20 and it failed to go off a couple times so now i have another actual alarm clock to wake me up at 5:19. Ive woken up a couple times to it not going off. It doesn't do it that often, maybe 1 time every two weeks. The timer is what bothers me. It consistently doesn't go off. As soon as I unlock the phone, then the timer goes off, but if it is locked, the timer wont go off.

Yeah, i'm sure the two issues are related (timer and alarm). Are you stock or running a custom ROM? Like to know if the multitasking "fixes" in some of these roms remedies the issue.
I had a similar problem that turned out to be a clock issue. The clock would fall behind when I was on wifi and it went into deep sleep, and when it woke up...it would stay behind...even if I have network settings checked, or unchecked...all the usual stuff was troubleshooted. When the clock catches up to the real time...it skipped the alarm because it jumped ahead 20 minutes or whatever the time that it was behind. I called at&t, and their best advice was restore to factory. My phone hasn't done it since I restored and alarms are now flawless.
Good luck

Yes. I've had this very same issue. Started using Alarm Clock Extreme Free. Works great & u can set it up so you have to solve a math problem to shut it off.

I'm running CleanRom 3.1 SE and this has been happening to me. Last two days in a row I've been late to work, I just flashed CleanRom 3.1 SE over the previous version three days ago.
I am going to upgrade to 3.1.1 tonight with multitask mod v.2 and see if it helps.
Side note: I tried setting the alarm on my g2x instead last night. That horrible phone drained to zero battery from a full charge doing nothing xD. I need to stop using phones as alarm clocks..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Since I posted this I have switched to Cleanrom 3.1.1 as well. I haven't had the issue again, but I think what has solved it is keeping it plugged in overnight. Can't say for sure if the rom changed the behavior at all. Plugging it in was making it work consistently when it was stock too.
My phone is always plugged in at night. This issue still occurred.

i traded my white one x for a white rooster and havent been late to works in weeks!

Try deleting the alarm and making a new one. I did that as well.
Updated to 3.1.1 SE via the patch and my alarm went off this morning. I'm claiming it's an issue with the memory mod v1

This is a very scary issue because like most people my alarm is my phone. Have you guys pin pointed a problem yet. Is everyone affected on a cleanrom?

Random Intense Vibration?

I've looked around here and haven't seen an issue similar to what's going on with mine.
It's happened a few times now, where the phone just randomly starts to vibrate, for ~5 seconds. No notifications, not even touching the phone. It just randomly vibrates. My last One X I swapped out on Friday due to some sound issues, that one never did this strange vibrate. I think this is the 3rd or 4th time it's done this in just as many days.
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Thanks.

I've had the same problem, I just chalk it up to a ghost playing on my phone, since I have no other explainations
It's a bug in android 4.04.

Ok, thanks. I still find it weird that my first one didn't do that in the two weeks or so that I had it. Maybe I'll try exchanging it a second time and get lucky with a 1.85
It happens so randomly and rarely that you probably got lucky.

Ok, thank you for the quick replies. I appreciate it.
Mine has done it twice now as well. Recently upgraded to 2.20, so Im gonna go with gunny on this one.
Edit LMAO!! No joke as a matter of fact, mine did it again as soon as I hit submit on this post. Scared the crap out of me. Almost dropped the durn phone

Yeah mine has done it several times too haha, usually when I press the back button. I thought it could be an issue with my phone because it has a really weak vibrate when I press the buttons, but since I didn't notice it on
4.0.3 I'll go with 4.0.4 glitch..
Sent from my HTC One X
If your under 30 days, on 2.20 locked i would make them exchange for older firmware device or your going to return it and go elsewhere to get one with the less buggy 1.85 firmware. If u want to unlock, why wouldnt you.
Mine literally hadn't done it until I opened this thread..irony..

Happened to me too; glad I'm not alone, haha.
Arrgh been re flashing roms thinking that would fix the occasional weird vibes! Nice to know It's happening to others too...

Is it something to do with the forum apps? Mine has this glitch.
Sent from my HTC One XL using Tapatalk 2
I only see it in forum runner.
Add me to the list as well running Clean ROM 4.5 DE happened first with the Xda app then at other times when using the back button about 5 times now.

I see this issue. But only with the back button and only in the XDA app. I am running Venom. It happens several times a day for me, and it stays vibrating until I push another button.
Anyone find any tricks to fix this?

One x battery drain when turned off.

Hi all. I have a problem with my one x for the past month. For example, last night I turned off my phone while fully charged. About 10 hours layer I turned it on and it had discharged 50%. This has happened quite a lot over the past month. When I leave it turned on, the battery drain is normal. I have factory reset my phone and deleted apps, but nothing helps. Does anyone have any suggestions what might be wrong? Thanks.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Do you have fastboot option turned on in settings>power? See screenshot.
Sent from my Evita
It was turned on, so I turned it off. I hope this makes a difference. I just do not know why it drained so quickly while turned off. Thanks a lot.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Technically when that option is turned on, the phone doesn't actually shut down when you shut it down, it goes into a hibernate mode. Btw round here we push the thanks button

Thanks for the info and sorry, that was an oversight on my part. Cheers.

I generally do not turn my phone off. But I got a new HTC one and have been using it for 2 months. I turned off my one x this morning'sng after work at a full charge, when I turned it on, it had gone down To 31% remaining. I still can not figure out what is causing such a power drain. I did uncheck the setting you mentioned last night, but it did not help. I am gong to go to a Rogers store and see what they might suggest. Thanks again.
