Download the Dropbox app from the Play Store.
Log onto or create a new Dropbox account with your HTC Phone
Follow the on screen instructions.

I did that and it still says that I have only 2.5 gb of space =/ There were like only two pages of instructions. One that said something about how to get 500mb of storage and the other asked whether to use wifi or wifi and data

I had to do 5 of seven things on a list, then I got my 25. plus 2.5, plus 500mb. So I got 28, and from what I understand, it's indefinite, not 2 years.

The 25GB is only two years afaik - the 2.5GB/whatever will be indefinite. Log into the Dropbox website on a computer after you've gone through the setup on the phone and it should tell you you have the bonus 25GB.
Even if it is only two years, allowed me to not pay for 50GB Dropbox for two years

Can I get 50gb from returning my device lol

After creating an account on your phone from the dropbox app..... Go to dropbox(dot)com/gs and. Complete 5 of the 7 steps to get the 25gb for 2 years....I did this the day I got mine.

i just signed into my dropbox from the app i downloaded from the market. i got my free space a few minutes later that was confirmed in an email, but i only got 23.? gigs not 25. but i already had around 4 so im right around 30 right now. camera burst and instant camera upload is a quick way to gain a few gigs, but you gotta upload 500mb of pics for 500mb of space so you have to delete alot of pics from your phone and dropbox after your done. nothing a little multi selecting cant do.

After you log onto the Dropbox site there is a list of I believe 7 items you can do for additional space such as installing on a desktop, sharing a note etc. To receive the additional space from having Sense 4.0 you need to complete at least 5 items on the list.

Im not sure what you mean? If you're asking when you get the space, I got mine after my first pic was auto uploaded. So turn on auto uploading in the app then take a picture and wait for it to be uploaded. You should get your space soon after
Thanks! It works like a charm, it's good to have "another" online backup service for pictures, as SugarSync occasionally decides not to do what it's supposed to do.
THX! I now feel!

Not necessary to use Android App, You can also use the Dropbox Windows/Linux/Mac software to get the free space.

I got the first 2GBs.
I followed everything correctly, have a folder named DCIM in SD card with 4.6GB's of photos. Dropbox only gave me an additional 500 MBs!!
If that's it, I'm deleting and cancelling my account, but I really do want to jump on the Cloud Storage Wagon.... any help ??
P.S. I registered with me uni email (.edu)
edit: i cancelled the upload, then it updated itself. Got 7GBs yo.... I hope it doesn't expire after the beta testing time, that would be unethical

an easier way to do this: get a USB Stick or memory card, make a folder called DCIM and insert 4.5 gigs of pics, avi or mp4, turn Win Autoplay on and select to import files to Dropbox, be sure to have the latest version installed
Windows installer v1.3.12: http://www.mediafire.com/?m33xniuv1wbnfp6
Android apk v2.0.9: http://www.mediafire.com/?6u0cik75gdj84pz
wait for the upload to finish, it will take some time, you can also upload smaller files, if u don't have a 4.5 gigs usb

no, if u have a folder named DCIM on your usb stick / memory card, the dropbox soft will see it as a phone ans sync it
this is how i got my 5 gigs, i didn't even use the android apk
I just started my video (on my phone) to record. Left it for 20 mins and then stopped it. Left the phone to upload the video. Got additional space. Did this a few more times and got additional space each time.
Note to get the full 5GB, you have to load at least 500Mb of photos or video. Uploading 5GB of just videos or 5GB of just photos will only get you 4.5GB space. 4.5GB of video and 500Mb of photos will get you 5GB.

Dropbox v2.0.9 + 5Gb Freespace

Requirements: Android 1.6+
Overview: how it´s work.
• Automatically uploads photos and videos in the background using Wi-Fi or data plan
• 500MB of free space on first photo uploaded automatically
• Upload files of any size (no more 180 MB limit!)
• Support for resuming file uploads when there are network issues
• Various performance improvements & bug fixes
During this beta period, they are also offering additional free space to test automatic uploading of photos and videos. For every 500MB of photos and videos automatically uploaded, you'll receive another 500MB space bonus, up to 5GB total (including the initial 500MB space).
[Update: this space is not separate from 5GB given for uploading on their desktop clients. Uploading from either desktop clients or Android app will count towards the same 5GB free space.]
for every 500mb upload you get 500mb spave free up to 5gb.
it's plus 5gb on top of what you already have.
pretty awesome
Note:-Only images and videos taken using your phone's Dropbox through camera upload tab are valid.

There's a post to download dummy jpgs for upload in the Epic Touch forum. What i did was upload my own, by batch renaming copies til I had enough. to upload to the 5g. Only took a few minutes to get it all done.
just make a 4.5 gb full hd video and then wait for upload ;-)

Copy. Dropbox alternative 20gigs Free!

Just letting my fellow Android owners know about a new cloud storage option, most similar to Dropbox but not unlike Box (minus the upload limit), Google Drive, SugarSync, etc.
As a limited time launch bonus, they're offering a 5GB bonus storage to who use a referral link.
It's as simple as click the link, sign up, confirm your email address, install the app to your phone or desktop and you're done.
Enjoy your 10GB FREE cloud storage.
Edit: Copy have responded to Google increasing users' storage across Google+, Google Drive etc and have decided to increase Copy users' storage to 15GB too. So forget 10GB, enjoy your 20GB
Storage does not expire!

I signed up using yours. However, there are so many "Dropbox alternatives" these days. I have 50GB on Box, 50GB on Dropbox, 20GB on Copy. It gets to the point where extra storage is useless.
Thanks, but I am from India and most cities still have bad Internet connectivity, or costly, seems providers here are still in stone age
you get crap speeds on expensive monthly cost, or the good ones are not in your town or to slap you more, not covering your place
so even If I have 50GB or 1TB of cloud space, I would get bankrupt to upload that much on costly Bandwidth.
However I would pass this to my peers if they are interested
Thanks flame for your link

Confusion with my "app storage"

So my app storage is telling me I have five gb's of this "other" and I have no idea what it could be? All my music and photos and everything are on my SD card and I only have like less the 40 apps. I cannot figure out what can be in the "other" I even moved all my apps to the SD card and the 5 Gb's are still there. Thank you in advanced.

first of all nice 4th of july post lol thats my bday
Second, are you rooted? do you use a custom recovery and flash roms?
zips will account for that other.. also a big big space taker uper is backups of your roms. backup stock thats a good gig easily, flash cm and back it up its possible its just as large (really all depends on how many apps and system apps you have on the image when you backup)
if you have rooted and flash a custom recovery then take a look at your storage, not sure if you use a micro sd along with your internal storage but check both for a folder called clockworkmod and or twrp. Check the properties of those folders if you have them and check their size. Also i once synced my work email to my phone and during the setup i check an option to "always download attachments smaller than 5mb when on wifi" What ended up happening without me even knowing at first was my email synced to my phone and every message that fell within the sync time frame that had an attachment was automatically download to my Downloads folder as the mail first sync and then from then on whenever any message that had an attachment came in and i was on wifi. If i wasnt on wifi then theyd just queue up until i got back on wifi and boom! hundreds and hundreds of word docs, pdfs, images, etc. long story short it ended up taking up a lot of space.

You don't have this phone do you. This phone does not have an sd card slot. The 5gb taken up the "other" is not in the user accessible partition of the storage. That 5gb is taken up by system files etc. To the OP, you only need worry about the second section, as that's the only part of the storage you can access.

Cloud storage. Which one to choose?

Not sure if this is the right place for the question but anyways...
I stand before a "big" decision. What cloud storage to use? Up until now used Dropbox with 50gb free using Samsung 2 year bonus.
Now it runs up... So I need to see where should I go from here. Love Dropbox but unlike other clouds the only paid option is for 1tb.. Have no need for such storage space. If they would have 100gb option like OneDrive or Google Drive that would solve a lot of things... There are also other cloud options
My main consideration in using one is mobile integration. More specifically photo upload because I use my phone as main camera most of the time but also pc integration is important. Dropbox worked well for me. Now consider 100gb Google Drive.
What cloud storage do you use? What can you recommend?
